Dollar burger night is AWESOME! Â I had beef, my wife had turkey and both were so, so tasty and generous size. We took our FABULOUS WAITRESS ROSIE's recommendation and totally enjoyed the tator tops!! Where else can 2 eat a great meal for $15 (you pay 50 cents for condiments and full price for drinks). Note: please be kind and tip as if you paid full price.
Review Source:The best analogy for this place is to compare it to a really pretty girl with extremely bad breath.
At first glance this whole venue seems pretty cool. Good crowd, decent music, and the booze is flowing. I couldn't have been more wrong.
First they use an ID scanner on everyone, and I mean everyone. This makes it take forever to get in. I was carded 2 more times once I was inside as well.
The mixed drinks were weak. I got a non-alcoholic muddled peach ice tea and as far as I could tell it was Lipton's. Waitress took it back, the strawberry lemonade was not much better. We ordered the Pretzel Sticks, most were not even salted, and the maple butter dip was as solid as a rock making it impossible.
The pizza we ordered would make Mama Celeste spin over in her grace. It was nothing more than Pita bread would grilled chicken and generic sprinkled cheddar cheese.
The rooftop patio seemed nice at first, until I realized the only way up and down was to take an elevator. They don't trust the patrons enough to use stairs? The real kicker is that there isn't even a restroom on the roof so you are forced to stand in line for multiple elevator cycles just to use the can.
This place could only possibly be good if your only intention was to get black out drunk somewhere else first, then return there to hit on the opposite sex.
Bar Louie used to be the go-to place for a lively sports bar environment and entertainment in the south-of-Boston suburbs, but new competition from the many new bars/restaurants in the area (i.e. Toby Keith's, also at Patriot Place) is having an effect. The good news is that my family of 4 (incl 2 grown children) was able to get a table after only a 10-min wait this past Saturday evening.
Bar Louie is still a fun, energized place with a good beer list and imaginative food. The two vegetarians in our group were able to find several offerings on the menu.
The only problems were slow service (our waitress was super-friendly and attentive; I think the issue was in the kitchen), and strangely, two of our entree salads were missing key ingredients! The Chopped Salad came without the avocado that was listed on the menu. When it was pointed out, our waitress brought avocado out from the kitchen. The other salad was missing blackberries - which were even listed in the name of the salad!
Our waitress and the management responded very well, removing both salads from the bill (which we told them was not necessary) and bringing a free dessert.
Their response made us feel that our business was really valued, and we will definitely return to Bar Louie.
BTW, on Saturday nights, DJ music starts at 9 p.m.
I will keep it real short.
The food was delicious, but we waited forever for dinks and food. Overall, most everyone liked their meal. But the atmosphere was hard to take.
1. The waitresses need a sylist. No matter what any guy says, it is unattractive to have the waitresses running around in black shorts that don't flatter them and bra straps hanging out. They all looked like they were wearing tattered clothes. It would enhance the appeal of the establishment if they has on a cute workable outfit. Some cute black jeans and a cute Tshirt with the logo perhaps.
2. Â On Saturday night the Bruins game was on and the tvs were blaring. Nobody bothered to mute the commericals either. That was the worst. So there we were at 9pm on a Saturday night listening to tv commericlas blaring. We had to yell over them. It is absurb for a place to think the customers want to listen to ads. Play some freakin music please, atleast during commericals.
3. Lastly, my friends asked them to bring me a piece of birthday cake and we had to pay $8 for it. Since when does that happen?
Bar Louie is nothing special. Good place to go if you want to just grab a drink with some friends. The rooftop deck is nice in the warmer weather- again only if you want drinks (probably warm since they are served in plastic cups though)!
I would highly recommend staying away from the food. I've lived in the area for a few years and have made a few attempts at trying a meal. They were all horrible. I started just ordering the nacho trio and they can't even make that up to par anymore. They give you about 15 STALE chips. The queso was topped with a thick layer of cheese film and the salsa was just awful. Other than the selection of beer and the usually "ok" service, this place has nothing going for them.
CBS Scene and Toby Keiths are just a walk away and MUCH better! I'm going to agree with Joe from down below, bar rescue is definitely needed here (we actually said that last Sunday while we were drinking our warm beers out of plastic cups eating stale chips on the deck!)
This place is cool if you like spending 25 minutes at the bar to get the bartender's attention....
Oh and don't come here with an out of state ID. The bouncer told my boyfriend he couldn't legally come in because his ID was coming back with an X. I explained to him we just flew and went through TSA so I'm sure his license wasn't a fake....
He told us, you have a problem with it, go talk to the cop. So we did - and he had to call into the police station and run his name for us to even get in. To my dismay, it wasn't even worth the effort.
A no go for me.
Bar Louie was thoroughly mediocre. Â Jon Taffer of Bar Rescue might need to be called in to spiff this place up.
Wine and beer were fine, as one would expect.  However, the margarita was pretty poor.  I ordered one of their "signature" margaritas (as recommended by the waitress by virtue of the fact that it was in a box on the menu).  First off, the glassware was the same they used for beer and water.  No oversized wine glass like other margaritas I've had in other places which, for presentation purposes, knocked it down a bit before the first sip.  Second, this thing had three or four lime slices in it  - pretty much an entire lime's worth.  I could barely get the straw down to the bottom of the glass because there was so much ice and lime, and even when I could, most of the flavor coming up was lime juice.  I mentioned it to the waitress, and she said, "It's a fresh squeezed lime juice margarita."  I told her it looked like I had a fresh squeezed lime in my drink.  It's almost like they needed to disguise the flavor of the cocktail by stuffing an entire lime into the glass with ice and hoping that I wouldn't notice.  This is why I don't normally drink margaritas outside of Florida.
We ordered the truffle butter popcorn. Â It took about 20 minutes to come out, and when it did, the cheese was not melted, and I got very little truffle butter flavor out of it. Â It was, at best, a half-hearted attempt at some kind of gourmet popcorn. Â At worst, it was a rip-off.
Service was slo-ow, and getting a water refill took a little effort. Â I know it was a Friday night, but they should have a good system in place to make sure customers are being taken care of. Â I felt like we were overlooked a little bit.
There are definitely better places to go in Patriot Place. Â This place seems to have a lot of hype around it, and it draws crowds to boot, but it's really not that good.
Bar Louie is a known entity. It has reasonably good food selection and quality, a fair share of beer and fancier drink options, and a younger atmosphere. Nothing to write home about, but it serves its purpose when you are with a diverse group and in the mood for an easy night out that everyone agrees on.
Three highlights:
1.) Watching the awkward beginning of the transition from restaurant to nightspot. Seriously, it feels like the DJ pops up out of nowhere. Who's going to be the first to venture out on to the 'dance floor' that never fills up? It's like the middle school dance scene all over again, sometimes with authentic middle school dance music.
2.) $1 burgers on Tuesday. These aren't teensy-tiny little excuses for a burger either. These are real deal sized burgers.
3.) A roof deck! That said, if you want to enjoy this feature, arrive early because after a certain point there is a line. No rooftop bathroom though, so be ready to take a few elevator rides down to mingle with the commoners who are stuck inside not knowing the roof top delights they are missing. Oh, and once you are blessed with your roof deck bracelet, you don't have to wait in the elevator line to go back up.
Went on a Tuesday for dollar burger night. Â The burger and bun is $1.00, then additional toppings are 25 to 50 cents. Â When the dust settled, I had a burger with cheese, grilled onion, bacon and BBQ sauce for $2.75. Â Also went with a friend calamari appetizer and a side of tater tots (yes, tater tots). Â Everything was tasty and service was good.
Review Source:Not at all what I was expecting. Its like a weird cross between a bar/lounge and a sports bar. Its like they were not sure what direction to take so they combined the too into some weird fusion restaurant.
Service was so so, nothing amazing. The decor is kind of dumpy, it looks like it might have been nice at one point, but there was holes and tears in the seats, they were dirty, the table was sticky and filthy. The place is definitely ready for a little renovating.
However, the food we had was all really amazing. Its kind of typical sports bar/pub type fare. The pretzel app was our favorite and we keep thinking about going back here just for those.
Id definitely try this place again if Im in the area, but I would go out of my way to get here.
I like this place. Gets a little too loud sometimes, but overall, great bar. Fantastic beer selection. Tuesday night is $1 burger night. BOMB!
The hummus/tsaziki platter is huge and a super yummy healthy app.
The said $1 are good. Of course they're more like $3 burgers after I add all the stuff i want to it, but that's still super cheap.
drink list is diverse. i had a white cosmo and it was delish.
The service is usually good as well
Bah Louiez. Where an average man can get an average drink for an average price, and have an average good time!
Place is nice, no cover charge is what keeps me coming back. I enjoy the ruckus more at Toby Keiths but when I just want a non country night with more of a boston bar/club scene I'll hit up Bar Louie. Especially if my mom didn't give me an allowance that week.
You got your normal average 20 and 30 somethings minglin around gettin jiggy wit it. A lot of cute faces hanging out here, and the bar tenders are extremely kind and helpful.
Maybe its just good service because of my lumberjack 6'4" height, or maybe its that certain twinkle in my eye, but service is always quick. Especially if I'm pushing a shawty out of the way. (I would never.) ish
I had only been to the Providence Bar Louie prior to last week and this one was just as much fun! Great crowd, great service, and great drinks!
We didn't eat, we just stopped in for a couple of drinks on a Thursday night around 10:30. Their drinks are amazing but expensive so be prepared. My mom ordered the Kiss my Aztec and she is still talking about it and saying it is one of the best drinks she has ever had!
I would definitely go back and I can't wait to try the food sometime!
A star for the food, which is not too bad. Â Naturally I've had better, but I wasn't disappointed, either. Â A star for atmosphere, which is actually pretty cool, noting that they have a rooftop bar, which I enjoyed. Â
While they don't serve shots or signature drinks after halftime, the cocktail I did have on the roof was pretty strong without being overpowering. Â And to be completely fair, our experience with the initial cocktail server who served us on the rooftop bar was very pleasant. Â She was friendly without being overbearing and down to earth and fun without being unprofessional. Â
We went last night, for the preseason game against the Eagles. Â So to whomever was our cocktail server (I wish I got her name) during the last call on the roof deck to the tables on the periphery at the far end of the deck, we thank you! Â You rock!
With that exception, the worse service I've had in my life. Â
This means downstairs while eating, from the door staff, server, management...you name it, it sucked. Â Bad.
And I mean, everyone in our party was shocked by the terrible service. Â Yikes. Â Half of our party being veteran hospitality professionals. Â Yup, pretty terrible. Â
Who knows. Â If you arrive on a better night, the food and atmosphere aren't terrible, so it might be worth it. Â Be warned.
Ugh, I came to Bar Louie for dinner because it seemed to be one of the most lively places at Patriot Place -- drew crowds on a weeknight!
I could not see what all the fuss was about. Â Rowdy, young crowd for sure. Â Maybe it's the selection of beer on tap? Â
My dish, the voodoo chicken, was nothing to rave about. Â It was actually one of the worst dishes I've EVER had! Â This dish plays on Cajun roots (and I love Cajun) -- blackened chicken, andouille sausage, bell pepper, voodoo sauce, and rice. Â It is essentially a blackened chicken breast on top of rice, bell peppers and sliced sausage scattered about. Â I requested the voodoo sauce on the side and I'm glad I did. Â Although the waitress mentioned that the sauce had a "kick," it just did not play well with the rest of the foods. Â To top it all off, the plating was completely massacred by sprinkling paprika or some red pepper ALL OVER! Â Anything that I ate included a helping of that spice to coat my mouth. Â No balance of flavors whatsoever....all spice.
Otherwise, I see nothing to rave about. Â Maybe if we got roof deck seating, I would be happier with my experience. Â Oh, it's full? Â That's too bad...
We headed here after a Revolution game at the stadium and it was nice b/c they are open late, even on a Sunday.
The space is large, huge, in fact, (but I guess that's skewed from living in the city). Â
Our server came over quickly to take our drink orders, but we weren't ready -- we were finally ready and gave her our meal and drink orders. Â
The food took a really really long time to come out -- and when it did, it was decent -- not great, but decent. Â We ordered the chicken BLT and the fish po' boy. Â The fish on the po' boy was grilled, and it was meh.
We didn't experience the outdoor patio or anything, but overall, it was decent -- reminded me of a BJ's with the ambiance and menu.
Decent, I'd go back if we are in the area for a game.
Things I like about Bar Louie:
-Lots of beer
-Buffalo calamari
-Roof deck
-Pretty decent food
Things I do not like about Bar Louie:
-There's a line to get in on weekend nights.
-A bit too pricey for average pub food.
-The clientele on weekend nights can be pretty obnoxious.
-Once, our server was literally fighting back tears because the manager had just reamed her out in the middle of her shift, and then she had to go back out to serve her tables. Â I felt so badly for her! Â Not cool of him to do to her in the middle of her shift!
So, for the most part I like Bar Louie as long as it isn't Friday or Saturday night... but in all honesty I'll take the BBC over Bar Louie  overall.  I'm sure I'll still be back, though... if for nothing more than a pint of Rogue Dead Guy Ale and some buffalo calamari!
Went to Bar Louie tonight before a movie. Â We arrived at 5:30 and just beat the rush and were seated within minutes of walking through the door. Â Our waitress was prompt and polite and had our drinks on the table without waiting. Â
Being a beer geek I usually opt for a beer but the tap list was so-so. Â A bunch of taps but nothing that truly stands out and I was a bit disappointed that it was the same beer list from several weeks ago. Â Anyways, the drinks, sodas and waters, came served in small 12oz glasses completely filled with ice. Â Looking around I noticed other tables had normal glasses while others the small 12oz glasses. Â Luckily our waitress noticed that our glasses were empty in minutes and "upgraded" us to larger ones. Â I don't really understand the necessity of 2 different sizes. Â
I ordered the chicken sandwich with buffalo treatments. Â It wasn't bad; it was huge, tasted good but was a complete mess. Â I don't know how buffalo sauce and bleu cheese could be so messy but it dripped and leaked from the sandwich and within a couple of bites was all over my hands and plate. Â Good thing I had a napkin, right? Â No, we still hadn't received our napkins and silverware. Â Nor the ketchup that I had to swipe from another table. Â My girlfriend had a quesedilla which she said was really good but the tortilla was oddly damp.
Before leaving I opted to use the restroom which was located at the end of a hallway in the back of the restaurant. Â The smell of urine filled the air halfway down the hallway and the mens bathroom was filthy. Â The trash was completely full and the floor was littered with paper towels. Â The sinks, mirrors, and soap dispensers didn't look like they had been cleaned in weeks.
So overall it was a bit disappointing... went from 3 stars to 2 stars after seeing the bathrooms. Â Our waitress was very good though minus the fact our table didn't have silverware or ketchup. Â I'll revisit but as far as I'm concerned, Bar Louie is on probation.
I've been both for dinner and drinks a few times. Food was good--nothing extraordinary, but the selection and the service were both quality. The bar, though--whoo! The Abbey is one of the best cocktails I've had in my life and the beer selection is first rate. If I lived closer we'd definitely be back for weeknight specials (PBR night, anyone?)
It is loud and packed later at night, not the place to get a quiet cocktail after dinner. But if you're up for a fun time it's a great spot! And I'm a married female, but even *I* noticed that the bartenders were hot, and they provide great service to boot.
We ate here with friends on 3/10, a Saturday. Â We arrived for lunch just after 11:30 and it was very quiet. Â It was still very quiet when we left about an hour later.
The restaurant is nice; it's dark and modern inside -- from where we sat (a round booth in the back) you could see the several large TVs over the bar. Â It was not especially comfortable.
The waitress was friendly -- while we looked over the menu and got settled, our friend ordered her son's lunch so that it would arrive quickly. Â They had it ready very soon and brought it right out. Â She kept our drinks filled.
The food was average. Â
My wife and I started with the "pot sticker" appetizer. Â It was not a great appetizer to share (six very small dumplings) and not a good value for the price, but the dumplings were tasty.
Our friends had the "pretzel" appetizer, and seemed to like it. Â Again, it seemed a small portion for the price.
I had the "Chop Chop" salad. Â I enjoyed it -- it was a very large salad with interesting ingredients. Â It seemed to be a pretty good value.
I'd say this is a pretty good place to have lunch before a movie. Â It would be a good place for drinks with friends if the appetizers were a better value. Â It would be a poor pick for a nice dinner, and I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.
I love this place. The $1 burger night is fantastic. The $1 PBRs are even better. We go here every Tuesday all of the staff are great.
Jen has been our waitress a few times and she is fantastic. My wife works close by so we go there quite a bit. Never had a bad meal and the service has always been good or great.
I was surprised to see some of the poor reviews but coming from a regular it's definitely a good spot.
Only negative I can think of is to call before you go for dinner on the weekends as it can get pretty crowded.
As a visitor, I expected more. I'm not a huge bar fan, but being from LA, I know good food & drinks. Can't say I had either here.
A few hiccups are to be expected since the place just opened. But the hiccups were the staff..why are you waiting tables without writing things down if you can't remember what we ordered from the table to the bar??
Get a clue and some good food...
I'm sure on most days this would be a 3-star place and that I was just lucky enough to have a better experience.
Came on a Saturday afternoon around 3 and it was relatively empty so we were seated right away. I didn't order any drinks because I had lost my license, but the variety looked pretty good. Waitress was a little slow after the food was delivered but generally no complaints about service either.
My friend and I split the Parmesean and Truffle Oil Popcorn appetizer and it was delicious! Â Just enough flavor not to be bland without it being overpowering. The table next to us got the pretzels and those looked so good I wish we had tried those as well.
For my meal I had the Roasted Vegetable Flatbread, which was to die for. Â The crust was thin and crispy, especially around the edges. Â The vegetables were cooked perfectly and very flavorful - a great blend of flavors with the tomato, artichoke, onion etc. I would recommend trying this or any of the other flatbreads if you are coming here and want something delicous that isn't too filling either.
If you're at Patriot Place or in the general vacinity and are looking for an affordable option that has something for everyone, try Bar Louie.
This place really should be 5 stars but I'm a Yelp snob and it really takes a lot to get me all the way there.
A myriad of beers from around the world, tasty upscale pub food, and a roof deck that includes several beers on tap? I must've died and ended up in beer heaven! The roof deck on a Friday night is actually a pretty fun place to be considering I spent the earlier part of the night at Toby Keith's house of shame(at least that's what it should be called).
If you are looking for affordable beer and upscale pub food in a party atmosphere Bar Louie is where you should be.
3.0 Stars
This is my favorite spot in Patriot Place. The food is simple and well prepared, my favorite is their tacos, that just a notch or two below a good Taco Truck.
The room is a Warehouse/Loft motif complete with duct work. It makes for  a nice open feel even when crowded. The bar is centrally located, providing a nice flow. The booths are nice and they have long tables for large parties. I have not tried the roof deck, so I can't comment.
The drinks are adequate. Not sure what the Kratfs are charging for rent but prices are in line with Boston prices.
* only come here when I go to a soccer/football game.
* if this place was in my town it might be the kewlest place in town but that ain't saying much.
A for effort.
Just walk in and take a seat. Well I'm fine with that but there is no accountability. Individuals walking everywhere looking for seating.
I came here on Wednesday before the Boston - Manchester United game. They had just opened the outside patio. Everything was wet. Seats, tables and my ass. Anyone think to wipe the stuff down before opening the patio? No. It takes to much effort to think. Timeline:
Sat down.
15 min for the waitress to take our order which consisted of two martinis
15 min to bring said martinis
20 min to check up on us. Not like we wanted to order an appetizer. I just asked for the check at this point. I handed her my card immediately to not waste 15 min. (See what I did there? Be proactive.)
15 min to bring the receipt.
Someone give the bartender raise. At least he knows how to make drinks.
Okay this place was chosen because somebody (obviously somebody untrustworthy who likes dingy bars) recommended it to us and boy oh boy was this the worst mistake for a Saturday night out I've ever made.
The drinks were outrageously expensive, I ordered a Blue Moon and it was $7... what? $2.99 to $4 would have been appropriate. I'm used to paying $7 for a mixed drink. God forbid I ordered one here.
I really think their service is so nonchalant because this place is filled with the worst bar trash I've ever seen. People who look ill at fault of the outrageous amount of alcohol they are being served. I think people are treated poorly there by the staff because everybody working there thinks you're just another drunk idiot.
Long annoying story short we never got our food or even a chance to order our food because our waitress ignored us and assumed we were too wasted to function or something along those lines. We ended up leaving with scowls on our faces and rumbling stomachs.
If you enjoy trashy people and drunk idiots dancing to really awful cover band music that is SO loud you can't even hear yourself think let alone have a conversation... and if you like overpriced drinks and servers that make you want to scream because they're so rude and ignore patrons and then give them attitude about it go here.
I'm not sure why this bar is so popular and decorated like it's a nice place to hang out... this just goes to show that looks can be deceiving and I will never step foot in there again. Classless and tasteless. Literally.
One word: mediocre.
I had the Hong Kong salad with chicken, and I would have been better off without the 'chicken' - more like little salty bits of rubber. The waitress was amusing, not because she was particularly good or friendly, but because she kept checking herself out in the reflection of the glass near our table. I wasn't sure if she was coming out to check on us, or her outfit (teensy shorts and an equally teensy tank).
The interior was very dark, even at lunch time. All the blinds were drawn and the lights were low. We sat outside, which was pleasant.
I don't need to come here again, especially with the copious offering of spots at Patriot's Place for a lunch. If you do go, take heed: Avoid the chicken!!!
I used to love this bar. It was one of my favorite weekend spots. Until last Saturday.
I went there with 5 of my friends for a drink before we went to the movies. As we handed our IDs to the bartender, she noticed that one of my friends had an expired ID so she couldn't serve him. We totally understood this and were fine with it. The rest of us ordered a drink and he was just hanging out with us, and didn't push it and try to get a drink or anything.
The next thing we know, the bartender comes over and informs us that
even if SHE isn't looking, the other bartender will be watching us, and if our friend takes a sip of beer we will all get kicked out. She then walked up to the other bartender and we watched them rudely talking about us while pointing and staring. For the rest of the time it took for us to finish our drinks, the other bartender was watching us like hawks, to the point where it was not only uncomfortable but we felt like we were being treated as if we were about 5 years old. We are all 25 as they SAW on our licenses... expired or not, that is no way to treat customers.
Needless to say this may have been the nail in the coffin that causes me never to return to this declining establishment.
Not somewhere I would rush back to. Our table had crumbs and water rings from the previous customer. When we told the waitress she wiped the table down with a soaking wet cloth then left it wetter than at first. The drinks had various bits floating in  them even after we swapped out.
The fish and chips were greasy and an overdone dark brown. One more minute in the fryer and they would have been burnt. The portions were large though.
The mac and cheese unfortunately was  disappointing as well. The noodles were overcooked and cheese barely detectable.  The dish overall was tasteless.
On a positive note, the menu looked varied and interesting.
One of the better values at Patriot place
food was pretty good. I got the chicken tacos and my girlfriend had the turkey burger. Both were cooked well and tasted pretty good.
service was great, the waiter looked like he was from the cast of the jersey shore but he was attentive and a good server (i.e. bringing over complimentary waters and extra napkins without asking).
Hostess was a bit of a ding dong, but I guess that's why she's on the bottom rung of the restaurant ladder.
Sat on the roof deck, cool view but it does have a limited menu as opposed to the first floor
price was reasonable, under $50 for dinner
When Bar Louie opened, I had high hopes it would become a regular hangout for me. It's big, has good music (but not too loud) and there's a decent number of beers on tap. It's also right off I-95, which is easily accessible by a number of my friends.
But the service and the food, especially at the price you pay, could definitely be better. The food is so-so - everything is overly spicy or bland. I've never had anything there that was well-seasoned.
I always feel rushed there. Rushed to order, rushed to get refills (if I'm asked), rushed to get the bill, rushed to get the hell out. They clear plates and glasses off your table even if they're not empty. If you get up from the table, be sure to tell your friends to keep an eye on your drink if you don't want it to disappear. They give you the "we can add items to the bill if you're not done" when they bring you the bill right after your meal. No one asks if you want dessert or coffee, they just bring you the bill, which seems like a poor business decision.
I've had good cocktails here, and I've had awful ones. The very first one I had there was a strawberry fizz thing with champagne. It was so awful I almost gagged and had to send it back. Their mojitos are good, and last night I had a rum and coke zero, but they are not generous with the liquor. In fact, I think they skimp on it in mixed drinks.
My 14oz Blue Moon was $5.50, btw. My rum and coke was $9, and it was basically just coke.
The only time I go to Bar Louie anymore is when I'm invited to a large gathering. If it's my choice, I'd much rather go to EagleBrook Saloon. As a matter of fact, the group I was with last night agreed, and we won't be going back to Bar Louie.
Go here for a beer. That's about it.
Got a seared ahi tuna yesterday and it came ice cold like it was sitting in a refidgerator. I had to literally spit it out on my plate. Bartender asked if anything was wrong and I said it was ice cold and their reply was: We pre-sear all of our tuna."
Took it off the bill, but jesus who the hell pre-sears tuna?
Fail.
Whoever designed this place as a bad case of multiple personality disorder. At first, it's a sports bar, then it's a weird naked lady art gallery, last, it's a "grill" that doesn't want to put any of effort into actually making good food.
We gave it a try after we felt we'd exhausted all possible corporate casual lunches at Patriot Place. Bar Louie was new for our little group. We were seated right away but I definitely noticed the little "hooters girls" tank tops the hostesses are wearing.
Server came by and I'd say he was fairly attentive, although I had to ask for utensils and napkins after we'd received our appetizers-- I believe one of my companions had mentioned a forgotten glass of water.
I had the grilled veggie wrap, which I knew from the description wasn't overly healthy-- something about pesto mayo, goat cheese and avocado gave it away. The first half was good (the half that seemed to have veggies in it). However, there was so much mayo/cheese/avocado that it was a goopy, smushy mess. I could only eat half-- the other half was inedible- blech. This dish is supposed to be a "specialty" according to the menu. uh... ?
Mostly, we were unimpressed. I don't think I'll be headed back here unless all I want to do is stand at the bar and have a beer.
