Went here on Saturday night with my boyfriend after dinner down the street. Â The place is cute and quaint. Â There were a few open tables so we were able to find a spot to sit, but many of the tables had reserved signs on them even though no one ever came to sit at them.
The wine selection is decent and the server was knowledgeable about the wines. Â We took one of her recommendations, and we really enjoyed it. Â We did not order food so I can't comment on the quality of the food.
They get three stars because we also experienced bad service as many others have pointed out already.  The server stopped by quickly to take our order and talk with us about their selection, but after pouring the first glass of wine from the bottle, we never  saw her again.  Another server came by quite a bit later to refill our water glasses, but never asked how  we were or if we needed anything  else.  I found it very strange that it's a wine bar, yet they never came by to refill our glasses from the bottle.  It was that same server who eventually came to bring us the check.
Shortly before 10pm they started putting up the chairs in the back room and at the table right next to us. Â We actually thought they were closing, but they weren't so I'm not sure why they did that. Â It definitely gave us the hint to get out of there.
We may go back, because the wine selection was good.  I'll just have to make sure  it's on a day when I have a lot of patience for bad service.
I'm sad to say that I had a very disappointing experience here all because of service. We came in on a Friday night around 8:30 with a group of 5. Given that it is a wine bar we were hoping to enjoy wine and some cocktails.
After ordering a bottle of wine and two beers, no one came to check back in with us. We were hoping to order more and waited a LONG time before anyone even glanced over while walking by. At that point we were reluctant to stay so we asked for our check, were brought it immediately by an impatient and curt server.
It's unfortunate. I wonder if we had come here for food and drinks if the service would have been different.
Save your $$$ and go elsewhere!
The service was TERRIBLE. It took 10 minutes for the waiter to even come by to take our drink order then another 10 minutes for him to come back to take our food order. After that, 30 minutes elapsed before we flagged him down to ask him the status of the food. He was prompt in checking on it, but said the kitchen was slammed and the cook still had to make 2 orders a head of ours. I ordered the steak salad and my husband ordered a sandwich. I understand the pressure of the dinner rush, but it certainly shouldn't take that long for a salad and sandwich. There were other tables that arrived after us, got their food before us, and were done eating and leaving by the time our food was brought to the table!
If you're the snooty Edina type, you might like this place, but I felt it was too pretentious. Needless to say, we won't be going back.
For 50th, this is my favorite place since the grill was re-imagined as a suburban hell of sorts. Â The list has some major goodies on it and none of the wines are disappointing.
Stick with simple food here - the sandwiches, particularly ham and beef, and you won't go wrong. I've had great soups here also. Leave pizza to Lola, leave cheap to the Lowbrow, leave exotic to Cafe Ena, but this is a wonderful wonderful option in the mix of SW and Edina, and I love to come here.
Service is very attentive and personal, always has been every time I've come in. Basically a wine bar's wine bar. Nothing incredibly unique, everything it does well done REALLY well.
I'm really rooting for this place, and on the ambiance, I'd give it 4 stars, but on the food, it's so-so.
Walking through that strip of Edina, this place is a very refereshing find in terms of the size and quaintness of it. Â This isn't your mega-chain but instead a nice, small place like you'd find in a smaller neighboorhood -- that alone makes it special.
The food is a bit mixed. Â We had a soup, which was amazing, hearty and not cheap with incredients. Â But a soup is a soup, and you're probably going to go here not for the soup.
Next we also ordered the "sausage and cheese" platter which was a major disapointment. Â Usually when you get this, you'll get an assortment of both meats and cheeses and the proprietor or your weighter would walk you through each one of them and possibly even mention why they're good for pairing with eachother. Â This platter consisted of multiple pieces of salami, small pickles and some cheeses slapped together. Â The salami I could do with, but the cheeses were picked with absolutely no rhyme or reason. And then you got some slided baguette of theirs on there too. Â I honestly think they should do themselves a favor and remove this plate altogether. Â if you're not going to have someone at the place that takes pride in selecting and pairing a plate like this, you shouldn't just buy an assmortment of smelliest cheeses you can find and put them on a plate thinking people will appreciate the combination because it smells like a good cheese should. Â
We then split their cod sandwitch, which was very good and very simple. Â The fish was lightly breaded, cooked well and the simple condiments really concentrated on the fish and nothing else.
There's a small selection of beers on tap where you're bound to find something that you'll like and there's also an OK wine menu. Â For a wine/bistro type of a place, you'd exect to see a much larger selection, but this will suffice.
all in all it's a great place in that area, and i will definitely return for certain things there.
On a Saturday afternoon, there were open seats at the bar and open tables towards to rear of the place. Â I liked their color selections and decor - "rustic" feeling. Â
They had 4 or 5 beers on tap and plenty of wines to select from on their menu. Â The least expensive glass of wine on their menu was $7.50, and I think that's a bit much. Â I ended up having a Stella Artois in the "proper glass".
Sent to Beaujo's with a friend on a Tuesday night. It was a beautiful night, so I wasn't entirely surprised to see how busy the area (and this restaurant) were. What I was surprised by was the fact that it took nearly 10 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us by the "wait to be seated" sign. By the time she came over to add names to her list, there were at least 6 groups crowded into the entry way.
That being said, once we got our seats at the bar, the experience improved significantly. The server service was quite slow, but we were there for a relaxing night of good conversation, so were in no rush. If you were heading to a movie, this might be a problem. I started with a half glass of wine because there were two I wanted to try. The wine list seemed pretty diverse and both my friend and I had a hard time making a decision. We each got a cup of soup (some delicious squash, sweet potato, curry combination) and shared their flatbread of the day. We also split a dessert. Everything was really tasty and there were many other menu items I would love to go back and try. The food prices were somewhat steep, but not too surprising given the location at 50th and France.
Overall, I will definitely be back. The place was cozy, the wine was varied enough for all palates, and the food was delicious.
One of my favorite spots to enjoy some wine and selection of small plates. Â If you get there early you can even get the great table by the windown (my favorite). Â Enjoy a wine and cheese tray combo. Â
Have been visiting for years and have notice a lot of the same serving staff - always a good sign.
I'm sorry to say but I do not only pay for good food...but good service as well and unfortunately my experience here was that it was seriously lacking in the latter. Â
Its a small place but quaint and we were excited to try it.  We did not make a reservation at 7:30 on a Saturday night so we were not at all suprised that we had to wait about 30-40 minutes.  Unfortunately once we were seated we waited 10+ minutes for anyone to even acknowledge our presence.  And even then, we only got some attention because  I made eye contact with our server as she walked by.  And yes, I get it, being a server is tough and its possible to get in the weeds...but I don't think its so much to ask that they at least greet you and tell you that they will be right with you.  As long as I have a glass of wine...I'll be happy to wait. Â
The food was pretty good...generally light fare and sandwhiches. Â But again, once we got our food we never saw our server again until we had to flag her down for the check.
So, all in all the establishment seems pretty nice, with a cozy atmosphere and decent food...but one server makes the first impression and with so many other choices in the Twin Cities I'll likely try something else before heading back.
You know those nights you desperately need a glass of wine. Â I went to Beaujo's on one of those nights. Â So, my expectations were low. Â They were happily met. Â
The atmosphere was delightful, whispering of a small European bistro. Â
I enjoyed the wine flight and was blown away by one of the Shiraz's.
I loved that it wasn't busy (well, it was a Tuesday night), but there were enough people laughing and talking to feel that there is life. Â
Need a glass of wine? Â This might be the right place to be.
I went here on a Wednesday night at 8pm and the place was packed. Should be a great sign, but it meant the service was pretty slow. There seemed to be only two people bringing drinks and food for the entire place. I don't blame the servers as they were busy not lazy, but perhaps better planning by the manager? Â The crowd and the wait did combine nicely for some fun people watching (and listening...you can easily hear the convos of people around you)
Only had wine, beer and dessert although the food on another table looked great. Â It was interesting to see half glasses of wine on the menu as that singled to me that they knew their prices were too high. Also, the amount of wine I got for a whole glass seemed small; why would you order a half glass? Â The beer selection could be greatly improved with a few imports or anything that isn't pale or ale. The dessert (tres leche cake with marmalade) was perfectly sweet. I am a huge fan of chocolate and usually that is all that I really enjoy, so this was a pleasant surprise.
I went here with my bf on a weeknight in a search for something to do after dinner. It was nice for that but I wouldn't come back again.
Really should be 31/2 stars 4 would be a stretch on my first visit.
Good location and ambiance, like a place I wouldn't mind owning.
We ordered bruschetta and a flatbread with sausage and roasted fennel. Â The bruschetta was very tasty but the flatbread was boring it was a disapointment.
The wine was okay, good selection I just wish we could have a place that marks wine up 1.3 to maybe 1.75 not 2.0 to 2.5.
I will go back and try more items I like the cook to order style of the place.
I reserve the right to upgrade this review to 4 stars. I realy want to give it a fourth, but the fact that our waitress abandoned us for about 45 minutes really irks me.
Great wine bar. Random menu, but if you want some flatbread, olives cheese and wine, you'll love this spot. Dimly lit in a romantical way, that is especially perfect after spending the late afternoon holiday shopping around 50th and France.
Enjoyed a nice evening, but seriously, our waitress last checked in with us around 9:30 and then we never heard from anyone til the dude at the bar came over and asked if we wanted out check 45 minutes later. If it had been packed, maybe I would have understood, but it wasn't.
I'll go back, and hopefully I can give it another star....wanna love it, but after nearly 3 hours spent at the same table, I'm a little exhausted.
Perfect wine bar. Â The menu, the wine, the beer selection, the decor...they all go together perfectly. Â
I love this place at the start of the evening for a light bite and glass of red or at the end of the night for a nightcap. Â The space is intimate, lighting is great, and the staff will help pair food and wine for you.
Prices reflect their zip code but this place embodies what a wine bar should be so give it a shot.
round up some friends for a post dinner glass and some good discussion. Â
The big round table towards the back practically invites and aroused good discussion. Â Pair that with a bottle of Rose and the panicotta or any other desert and youve got a good recipe for laughter and fun. Â
The wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable the deserts and small plates or apps are great. Â This place is a must if you are in Edina around 10 pm and looking for a place to wind down your evening with good freinds and great wine.
Expect to pay around $40.00 bucks for a bottle of wine and a desert ...the perfect end to a date or dinner with freinds.
Note: Â park in the public lot in the back and walk thru the covered back alley to the back door. Â It makes you feel like someone in the know and keeps you out of the weather.
