Pizza was just okay. Â Pretty much your standard hometown pizza place that everyone raves about and outsiders might not understand why. Â By no means bad, but nothing unique. Â I won't be going back.
It seemed most people around us did not order pizza, whatever that means. Â
For a Saturday night, I had hoped for better service. Â Frankly, the service was poor.
One of two places in town that has the best pizza in town. Â Delicious thin crust pizza (you can get thick but why ruin pizza??) with just about any topping you could want. Â We have two standard orders - a SMOP (sausage, mushroom, onion, pepperoni) or a 4 cheese pizza (there's ricotta on it! yum!!). Â
My only complaint about this place, and it's just me, is that they don't have real brewed iced tea. Â I don't like soda so I'm forced to drink water. Â Or beer (darn my luck). Â
They don't put a lot of money into the decor - it's standard lower run Italian restaurant. Â They have private rooms too. Â And I swear that every chair is wobbly. Â I can forgive all of this because their pizza is amazing.
Always a Springfield favorite. We hadn't been in awhile so tonight we went for pizza. Yum, I forgot how good it was!! Good crust, thin and perfect. Great service and cold beer. I almost forgot the toasted ravioli - it was excellent. Â I give high scores across the board to Bernie's & Bettie's.
Review Source:Long time Springfield restaurant with a variety on the menu - something for everyone, but Bernie & Betty's is right on with their pizza!
Casual atmosphere. Simple bar. Friendly staff.
Pizza is always home made & piping hot fresh!
My son loves the horse shoe here as well.
Keep doing what you are doing! Â I always recommend to family & friends visiting Springfield!
I've been coming here so long that I can't remember NOT going to Bernie and Betty's...many of my grandfather's dollars were fed into the claw machine they always had.
The atmosphere is homey and cozy. This is definitely a place you go to be with family. We usually come in with a group of around five to eight and there's never an issue with finding seating. Admittedly, parking IS a little dicey, but the restaurant itself isn't huge either. Service is always friendly, and as quick as possible depending on how busy they are.
The salad is definitely craving-inducing.  The pizza is phenomenal. Usually, I'm not partial to thin-crust, but they get it just right. I'll admit that the pasta is not my favorite, but if you go to B&B's and order anything but the pizza, you're a lunatic!
Overall, this place has got good food, honest service, and fair prices. Definitely a place for "classic" Springfield food.
Every time I come I have to hit up B&B, Gabatonis, Steak and Shake, Taco Gringo, and a few others for a week of the worse eating I do all year. My parents always brought me here and over the years their food has remained very good, not like Vic's or Saputo's which went down hill. You will find no frills here just the basics but you will get great thin crust pizza every time.
Review Source:I had heard a lot of hype about this place from all my friends and decided to go there for dinner last night. It is pretty much in the downtown area of Springfield and has on the street parking. Space is very limited so you better know how to parallel park.
Our server, Bonnie, wasn't necessarily very pleasant During the whole time were there, she never smiled once or told us "thank you." She gave us about 2 minutes to look of the menu and figure out what we wanted. I had to go to the bar to pay for my meal.
Their crab and mushroom alfredo was alright. I've definitely had waaaay better. There wasn't very much crab on the noodles. If you were lucky, you would find maybe a tiny shred at a time. The pasta was bland; a little more salt and garlic would have made a big difference.
However, their sour dough pizza was pretty good. My boyfriend got the 11 inch beef with mushrooms sour dough pizza and claimed it was one of the best pizza's in town. They do give you a lot of options of what you want on your pizza.
Overall, this place wasn't bad. Better service would have made this place 4 stars for me!
Really good pizza. Â This is typical old-school, Italian-American style thin crust pizza. Â It's greasy, old-fashioned and with great ingredients.
They also have a full menu of pasta and sandwiches which are pretty good as well.
The location is a very casual, dated, bar/restaurant type atmosphere that is actually suitable for couples, groups and families.
Have it for lunch or dinner with generally no wait.
Rock the vote! B&B is bomb always! Salads are great!
I grew up on Bernie and Bettys, Gabatoni's, Luca's, Saputo's and Vic's. Over the years some have lost their luster. Gabatoni's used to half cook the sausage and then cook it through on the pizza which made them the best in town hands down. They stopped making it that way and now it 's good pizza but not great pizza.
Ever since Wayne sold Vic's it has gone in the crapper! Luca and Saputo's still rock!
Bernie and Betty are worth a sit down. They are still the same and I visit them every time I am in town. Much luv to one of the fields finest!
my dad grew up in Springfield and has told my cousins and I many stories about how he'd go to Bernie and Betty's as a kid. We live in California and every time we go back to Springfield (1-2 times a year) we have to make a stop at B&B..Steak and Shake too, of course. Â It's a real laid back place and very casual. Â I have had several different pizza toppings throughout the years, all being really good, and have had a horesehoe or two, and also the garlic knots or whatever they are. Â I dont eat anything like this anymore so our last trip out to B&B I got some type of salad and it was quite good! Â They also serve beer and wine which always tastes great with meals!
