It's been a while since I ventured out in the Old Port scene now that I have a kid.
Thanks to the Big Easy and the amazing platform they provide for local music, I didn't need to be a complete waste case like the last time I was was there.
The Kenya Hall Band and Friends Stevie Wonder Experience is all the chemical stimulation I need. Â The bartenders were awesome, and the place was packed but still you were able to move around fine. Â I liked how diverse the crowd was - 20s up to baby boomer types. Â That's f*&^ing rad!
Not sure if the sound system was the bands or Big E's, but it was great!
Kind of cool, cheap PBRs, a lot of beards and plaid, not much diversity -- seems to apply both to the Big Easy and Maine, in general.
We saw Momma's Boomshack, they weren't half bad. Â $10 cover, we were able to get seats off to the side even though it was pretty crowded when we got there. Â There was some AMAZING dancing showcased by some older gentlemen who just DGAF.
