JP Thorton's seems like an ideal candidate for  one of the many restaurant/bar makeover shows. So many aspects could easily be vastly improved - from service to ambiance to food. Currently, it's pretty depressing. We left feeling bummed we'd spent $ dining out - even though we went in with very low expectations. Hope it gets better as it's one of the only close spots.
Review Source:This is a good neighborhood restaurant. Â Small menu, but it does have options, especially if your trying to feed a picky eater(personal (gluten free) pizzas).
I've had the fish and chips and they were good. Â The batter wasn't as heavy as in some other places, and I liked that. I have also had their pizza and it was good (disclaimer: I was born and raised in Chicago and we can be particular about our pizza), but my husband(grew up "down east") really likes it.
Good beer selection and pretty strong mixed drinks. Â The staff is friendly and welcoming.
This place is just what this neighborhood has needed for years. Â A nice, affordable place to get a burger and beer. Â Great beer selection, and something for everyone on the menu. Â I love the Thornton's original salad with steak tips that you can order to your liking. This has become our family's go-to spot for a local dinner that isn't near the mall and isn't a chain.
