4 stars all thanks to one thing. The waitress on Tuesday night was AMAZING!!!! I forgot her name, but she said she was from Israel. So friendly, fast, professional, and made my wife laugh. She was so good that we will definitely go back on a Tuesday night again and see her. Besides that, Â Food was ok, drinks were good.
Review Source:Here's where they kinda lose me: $16 for a small drink called "Thug Passion," which contains Alizé. Remember Alizé, with flavors so sweet you would think you were gulping Kool-Aid. Alizé was the beverage of choice for urban youths in the 90s when we wanted to be cool. (No disrespect to Tupac. R.I.P.)
Other mixed drinks here are similarly WILDLY overpriced. Maybe they're giving everyone a double in one glass and charging according?
Otherwise, this is a very nice space with a small bar; lots of comfy couches and tables are arranged nearby so you can relax. They even have seating made from a pool table, which is very cute.
There are about 15 pool tables and at least one ping pong table; I believe one game of pool for two people for an hour is around $12 or $15. There are at least 10 televisions strategically placed throughout the space.
Basically, I would drink someplace else first and come here afterward to play pool or ping pong.
This place is nice for a date night. Very spacious and every time I've come here the waitresses are very sweet.
TVs all around and the pool tables are in  good condition. Very chill environment . But a bit pricey.
When I went this weekend there was a leak in the ceiling so they had a huge tub looking thing in the middle of the pool area. And a dude with a flash light was walking around the whole night , kinda weird but overall a good experience
I've been here several times and i think the atmosphere and music will depend on the night. Can be hit or miss. Service speed is glacial and there is plenty of room to chill and play pool. You can't really relax here because the music is just too loud, every time I go here.
Service - 2
Ordered two coffees and a cake and it took about an hour to get. I mean did they have to go to Columbia to make the coffee? Part of it is that there is like one or two waitresses for the whole place. That's unacceptable. I come to play pool and want to have a drink and food, but not after an hour i order it. The waitresses were nice however and are definitely over worked.
Atmosphere/Music - 2.5
This can really depend on the night. I hear in other reviews that they do play house, etc. I went when they played only rap. And probably some of the nastiest rap I've ever heard. The crowd was somewhat ghetto too that night. The loud music makes it impossible to say anything without screaming at the top of your lungs. I was pretty disappointed at this category, but i do believe they vary from night to night. The premises are pretty good with plenty of TVs, some couches in the lounge area, pool tables and ping pong tables.
Food/Drinks - 3
Regular bar food. Velvet cake was good and coffee was good after it finally arrived.
Value - 3
Can be hit or miss. The prices are generally reasonable. Cocktails are between $10-12. Food items are between $9-15. Pool quality is good and is something like $25 an hour or so.
This is probably one of the better pool halls I have been to. They have comfy red couches, pool tables, a lounge area, ping pong, a TV seating area. I came here on a date and it was fun because we were able to shoot some pool and sit on the couch to have a bit of a chit chat. I like the fact that there is a bouncer at the door checking IDs, it keeps the annoying kiddies out of the way during date nights! The only down side was that the music was a bit too loud for me. This billiard is a little bit more pricey, but it's worth it! Overall, a great experience.
Review Source:We came here to meet up with some friends for a drink before going out to dinner. Bouncer downstairs checked ID and let us up right away. Â The place was empty when we arrived around 8pm.
The bar area is kinda small compared to the size of the actual place. Lots of pool tables if you wanna play and some other seating areas closer to the bar. Mostly couches to sit on and plenty of TVs showing the game. Apparently, this is a multi-service location as they also had hookah if you desire. Â
The waitress was very nice but it seemed she was the only one serving each group of people. So grabbing her attention took some work. With a big place like this, which started to get more people in as the night continued, you would think they would have more than one person serving drinks.
Music was OK, the typical House and stuff you would hear at a club. Not sure if there was a jukebox as we didn't stay long enough to find out. The food selection is typical bar food so nothing special there but like I said earlier we came for drinks only.
Had drinks for my bday here and here is my experience:
I like that they have a wide variety of  "areas" you can hang out at, pool tables, a little dance floor, a bunch of comfy couches, and the bar. We chose to hang out on the couches and had no problem with it. I think our experience was brightened by our waitress who was nice, accessible and very chipper.
The drinks were good, but on the pricey side averaging about 8-9$ a drink. The hookah on the other hand was I believe 15$ and no minimum per 2ppl etc! for the six of us, we just got one hookah cuz not all of us wanted to participate in it.
It was pretty empty the night we went there so the ambience was a little bland.
The music was so-so, bounced between top 40 and house music. But they did play some songs that we requested.
When you enter The Billiard Company you will need to have an ID. They usually have a bouncer on the street level as you enter during peak hours. After the bouncer clears you head upstairs.
The have several pool tables and a nice lounge area. The bartenders are nice and the food is decent. They also have a TV that plays some cool music videos both mainstream music and random european techno.
It is never very packed and I always seem to find an area to chill in the lounge area. The only complaint I have is that they sell bottles for city prices! Many Austin Street locales seem to think they are in Manhattan and charge accordingly.
Check them out if you want some place to chill in the Forest Hills, Austin Street area.
$25 hookah is crazy enough, but $10 to replace the coal was when i finally decided to leave a review for the first time since jesus. Â Don't come here, the manager/bartender/relative of owner was rude, ghetto and walked away from us. Â Her name was tanya, supposedly.
We asked to replace a flat vodka coke, and when we complained about having to pay $10 for a new coal, the manager said we were complaining since we got there, ans that the coal lasted long enough... Â she gave us a lot attitude and was very obnoxious, and obviously doesn't know anything about customer service because she made sure we'll never step foot in this place again.
$10 for a coal?????? Are you serious tanya?!?!
I have NEVER seen this place crowded. Too me that's a good thing. This pool hall with a bar, and table-tennis is a best kept secret. There are plenty of comfortable couches, plenty of TV's the sound system is good and not overpowering, and the staff is super friendly. The lighting is dim and seductive, the overall look and feel is comfy.
Good place to bring a date if you would like some quality talk time, or just for a few of your friends to shoot some pool and/or catch the game.
The French fries are an A Â the cheesburger is a B+
Cons: Parking can be a bitch on Austin street
Nice place. Â Lots of pool tables and a couple ping pong tables.
Nice bar tenders and waitresses.
They serve typical bar food. Â I have had the chicken tenders and fries. Â No too bad. Â Also had their burger. Â Really good.
No bear on tap, but you can get a bucket of 5 domestics for $20. Â
Lots of big screen TV's, but none have sound. Â There is usually music playing and on the weekend they have a DJ. Â Lots of couches and sitting areas too.
I like this place. A pool hall with a lounge feel. Flat screens playing, music blasting, plenty of couches to sit on. A bouncer keeps the little kids and riff raff out. The waitresses were a little inexperienced and not that good at serving, but they were friendly. The finger foods were good, we had the popcorn chicken and seasoned french fries. I don't know why the place was empty on a Friday night.
Review Source:Came here for a friend's going away party, as she had nothing left in her apartment to justify having it there. Â It was a Saturday night, so prices may have been inflated. Â There were no beers on tap, and at the bar they insisted they didn't have glasses of water, but when we ordered from the waitress, she brought some right over. Â The pizza was cold. Â A pool table cost $23 an hour. Â Day of the week? Â Size of our party? Â Who knows. Â The atmosphere was kinda nice (comfy couches), but the service was iffy and not worth the price. Â Inexplicably, the entire time we were there, they were showing Tru TV. Â I can't imagine why. Â I doubt I'd come here often or again, even if I lived in Forest Hills.
Review Source:Imagine being on spring break and having your fingers bit off by a shark. Now imagine that someone took video footage of that and sold it to some creepy reality show that counted down some of the most horrific (I'm talking, bleachers collapsing, dogs biting your testicles off) moments. NOW imagine a bar with chic decor and tons of lounging space playing this snuff channel on about a million big-screen TV's while you tried to enjoy their weak and overpriced drinks. There you have it; the Billiard Co. This place has to be a mob front (leave the horse's head by the left side pillow, please) because there's no other way they are maintaining this super-huge, well-maintained space with hardly any customers on a Saturday night as well as the aforementioned weirdness.
Review Source:This is easy: Â it's a little bit ghetto sometimes, but what can you do. Â What is up with that bouncer downstairs? Â Are we going to a club? Â Ok. Â The drinks are weak and too pricey for Forest Hills. Â I love the big screen TV and the lounge area although those couches need a cleaning. Â ew. Â ping pong tables are great. Â Never ordered anything off the menu, but saw the chef once, and he looked like a sloppy, dirty, greasy, messy......you know what. Â I won't eat anything made by a person who looks like Shrek.
Review Source:I went here one night to meet up with a few friends for drinks, the drinks aren't strong at all , the food wasn't great either. I ordered the calamari, by far the worst calamari I've ever had , and I ordered the wings which weren't that great . The atmosphere is cool but our waitress was kind of a ditz.....I'll pass...
Review Source:Had to up it a star because of one drink and the amazing bartender who made it. Â SNEAKY PETE!!!! Â Beware!!!! Â I can handle my liquor well, but after 4 of these devilish treats, I awoke the next morning not knowing what happened after that 4th drink. Â So for pete, they deserve another star.
Review Source:I used to come here often... only because my friends live in the area and like a spot where they can drink and not drive.... but I will stop patronizing BC...
First of all, I hate their NO HATS policy... Â you are a F'N pool hall, not a Church, Synagogue, or Buddhist Temple... BUT if you know the bouncer, you and he can stand around bullshitting while wearing hats.
They used to have real bartenders... now they have the owner's relative tending bar, which means crappy drinks, bad service, and no buy backs, freebies or discounts. Â
One day their food made my two friends sick for two days with diarrhea.
I once got hit in the forehead while playing drunk ping pong.
The oily head print on the glass door is mine... Hey, the glass is really clear, haha.
In short, things always go wrong for me in there...
I went here this past Saturday night with two others. It has potential (decor and layout are great) but when did pool halls start turning into nightclubs? The whole atmosphere changed about an hour after we got there. (We arrived at maybe ten?) The music was so loud that it was distorted. It actually felt like we were in the sub woofer of someone's Escalade with all of the bass and TERRIBLE rap and house music that was blaring. I wasn't the only one with fingers in their ears. When it felt like our eardrums might burst, we called it quits.
That aside, I didn't think it was too pricey. $18/hour for the 3 of us to get one table. From what I could tell of the drink menu, they were pretty reasonable, too. I didn't order anything, but the others in my party did. If I could find a weeknight where they play rock at a level that doesn't make me feel I'm in some kind of pool hall torture chamber, I'd definitely go back.
My cousin and I met here to catch up. It was a weeknight, so it was kind of slow, but the atmosphere seems great for large groups and, depending on how busy it is, dates too! Â Music was pretty standard Top 40 rap, pop). I had a chicken caesar salad: it was decent (at best) and too expensive ($14). Overall, this place is a bit pricey, but it beats going all the way into the city and has a good location for Queens(/Forest Hills) folks.
Review Source:The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because our waitress was on point! Very sweet and gave great service to our party of 10.
As far as the place itself, its filthy. Our feet were stuck to the floor in certain spots and our drink cups and plates stuck to the tables.
The food was ehh. I mean how can you screw up frying something. The sliders were probably the best thing there.
Paying our bill was a nightmare! There was a manager we dealt  with the whole time since we were a large party and he was great. However when it came time to pay the owner stepped in and kept trying to scam us. I'm not sure who taught him to run a business but he's rude, dishonest and SHADY! I wouldn't be surprised if he was running a non legit business.
The place was MUCH better years ago when it was under different ownership.
Just be careful when you go and definitely check your bill!
All of the cue sticks are bent...but I suck at pool anyways so it didn't really matter to me. Â From what I've noticed, a lot of couples come here together to shoot a few pool games or play ping pong. Â
I've been here several times and have always had a ton of fun. Â I even tried the bar food, and it was completely edible! Â The drinks are cheap and the service is friendly. Â This is probably one of the better spots to hang out at on Austin Street.
Went there to kill an hour during the afternoon with my two teenage sons. There was some Euro-trash kid at the counter playing with his laptop, so it took awhile to get his attention. First impression, the place is DARK, like shooting pool in a cave. My biggest gripe was the vulgar gangsta' rap BLASTING out motherf****** this and b1tches and H0'$. Nice. Cost about $17 for the hour, was glad to get out of there. La Cue on Grand Ave. in Maspeth is way better.
Review Source:This would deserve  5 stars if the music wasn't so loud. Yes, all they play on their TVs are music videos. But sometimes it's nice to be in that type of atmosphere, it's not like it's so loud you can't hear yourself speak.
They're strict about IDs, they have comfortable couches in a lounge area you can sit on if you don't want to play pool, and there's also a ping pong table in there.....
It's nice and clean, and last time we played pool it cost us 20.00.
The only food I've tried are the french fries(which are really good), and the Long Island Ice Teas are great. I think the drinks cost around 10 dollars and I'm not sure about the food, but overall it's not cheap but also not too expensive.
Very nice space with cheap drinks and lots of big-screen TVs, but they ruin the experience by blasting horrific Eurotrash music videos on said TVs. Â It would be great if they would just play regular videos, or sports, or, well, CNBC. Â Or turned them off.
Oh, and our waitress was somewhat less than friendly.
We started out here in high school, back when it was Star Billiards and they accepted anything for an ID up to and including handwritten notes from your mama. Nowadays, it's gotten somewhat swankier, or so the prices indicate, but still a worthwhile way to kill a few hours on Austin Street after the shops close down.
