I need to get rid of some bad karma from all the negative reviews I've had to post lately, so I thought I'd give Billy's Inn another shout out. Â There's nothing negative about Billy's, especially at brunch time! Â You can't go wrong with any of their fabulous brunch dishes. Â Some of my favorites include the breakfast sandwich (regular and Hangover style), the breakfast tacos, Greek omelet, and the slow-roasted pork hash! Â I absolutely love this neighborhood gem and the gorgeous waitstaff girls are always friendly, cheerful and keep those mimosas and bloody Marys coming. Â Check 'em out!
Review Source:Do not go into this establishment if you remotely look tired because you will be accused of being intoxicated and thrown out. Â I had not had anything to drink the whole day because i was stuck at home studying for an online exam when i was finished it was 9pm and i decided to go to billys because it is close to my house and i was refused service..I went there to have my first beer of the day and was appauled bythe rude servers accusing me of being intoxicated when i was just tired from a long day..My whole family and my friends met there quite often meaning 2 to 3 times a month and needless to say no more billys..Not only is it this experience but a few times before this incident it took 25 minutes for someone to take my order on several other ocasions.Service has gone down hill
Review Source:This is my go to place after 10PM class release from Regis. Â I really enjoy their late night happy hour. Â
Wait, I have only been here for late night happy hour. Â Love everything. Â $3.99 house margaritas, $0.99 Rock Lobster Taco, Small Nacho, Saturday they have Carne Asada fries that's super delicious. Â The fries were fried to perfection and even with cheese and stuff on it they didn't turn soggy. Â Maybe it's Tuesday they have $6.99 wings, all flavors are delicious! I also really enjoy their peel and eat shrimp but I wish they were slightly bigger. Â
I have always had great service here. Â The bartenders/waitresses have always been pleasant. Â Parking is never an issue even if they are packed...
One of my favorites!
Tequila bar with awesome food!
Some of the bests-
Potato skins- so much bacon!
Skippy burger- peanut butter and bacon on a burger, what?!
Big burrito salad- love it!
Nachos- loaded up with goodies!
Good happy hour and I love the house margaritas! Â Mondays are all day happy hour!
Someday, when I'm rich, I want to complete the tequila club.
This place is an amazing little restaurant/bar at 44th and Lowell in Denver.
If you like FISH TACOS then you should try theirs!! Crispy Baja Fish tacos melt in your mouth. They even have Lobster tacos!!
Quaint little place with friendly staff!
I'll be heading there again today for lunch!!
Great place. Went last night. Nice prices. Drinks. Never been disappointed. The staff seem to enjoy working here... Fun chill vibe. The kitchen is awesome! I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is high maintenance, however. Usually, any restaurant we hit is only good 2 times out of 3, but Billy's bucked the trend and it been good 4x+!
Review Source:Hey, I love this place!
First off, they are one of only maybe three places in all of Denver that prepared a burger correctly. And it was tasty. That's what my husband had, and he was happy with it, while I had the roasted chicken salad which honestly was delicious. I ate the whole thing, along with the free chicken taquito I was given just for checking in on Yelp. For what it's worth, that little freebie was wonderful!
Our waitress was a little blonde who, like the taquito, was also wonderful. She moved us from a table next to four VERY LOUD women and also commented on how adorable our dogs are, which btw they ARE. Just very personable, welcoming and accommodating, and I thank her for that.
I'll definitely be back. I hope the quality and value is consistent. I would love to have found a place that actually makes a proper burger!
Went for happy hour and got some drink specials. Â The sangria wasn't too bad, but the food... I don't get it. Â The deviled eggs were so bland. Â They look good, the filling nice and high and fluffy. Â But that's a trick, they don't taste like anything. Â I got 1/2 lb of shrimp which was good. Â Some were overcooked, some were fine. Â I mean nothing to go back to, well maybe that's what you should order because the nachos weren't that good either. Â All this food looking so pretty, looks are deceiving. Â So just get drinks I guess. Â I haven't had the tacos yet so maybe I should try those.
Review Source:Billy's Inn is a perfect spot for a bite with friends. Sterling, the manager, is a very friendly and engaging gent and has always remembered me every time I've visited... Their homemade pies are AMAZING. Fat kid heaven. Their margs are delicious as well and they have a great tap list. Love their burgers and tacos. Have always left full and happy. Great spot anytime of the year, but especially the summer.
Review Source:I have really only been here for Happy Hour, except for one instance where I came during pub quiz. The time I came during pub quiz, it was so awful... rude, slow service and cold food. But, I am throwing out the low score and rating them on what they do well: Happy Hour.
On Thursday, they have nachos on special and their nachos are some of the best bar nachos around. They have drink specials as well, but I always order micheledas. At Billy's, micheladas are a bunch of lime juice, a light lager, tomato juice and salty rim. So, kinda a mash-up between a margarita and a real michelada. I can really do some damage drinking those things, they are tasty and quite a few fewer calories than a margarita, so I reason I can have quite a few more of them. Duh.
Other drinks were on special as well. I did not pay attention to what they were, but out bill was cheap so they must have been decent. They also gave me a free taquito for checking in... score! Service was attentive and friendly, and it was busy but not uncomfortably packed.
This is a local's hangout. If you want to sniff the natives at 44th and Lowell, this is your spot. They have good prices, consistent food (good too!), and extremely consistent service. The owner, Michael I think, is a friendly guy who appears very easy to work for, so I assume that is one reason the staff is always friendly and fun to be around. Good times!
Review Source:I'm surprised this place has such a low rating. Â
Since I've moved to the area I've gone plenty of times! Â The service is what stands out the most. Â They're always attentive. Â Always! Â Food is always solid. Â It is a sports bar/restaurant so if you were expecting something else, you aimed for the wrong place.
Coming from knowing a lot of people in the industry this place is pretty cool. Â Not much attitude, which isn't very common. Â
Only weird part, the hostesses seems to have a bit of a crush on my boyfriend and makes it extremely obvious... Â Stare all you like, but damn girl at least give us a discount!
Good food, beers, drinks, and tequila at any time of the day or night... fun local crowd that likes sports and they always have the games on (have stopped by to watch football a few times)... never had a bad time here. It's nothing special, but it's better than most. I like the casual vibe and the waitstaff is always cool. Thumbs up for Billy's.
Review Source:I remember driving past the original Billys for years before it was refurbished; and I've been in here dozens of time since. The food has always been stellar; the blue cheese burger, the nachos, the salt-n-pepper chips....all solid. Love the late-night happy hour (after 10pm on Fri and Sat). The patio is chill in the summer and the staff are usually solid.
Review Source:I really want to love this place. Such potential to be great. Laid back and cozy vibe. Cool friendly staff. Â A bit slow but attentive.
Last week I went in for the nachos. They have a rep for having some of the best in the city. The nachos are fresh fried flour chips. I love those.  Fixings were though out the nachos not just on top of the chips. BUT they came with liquid cheese and canned jalapeños.  Why on earth:(
Tonight I had the Santa Fe burger with green chilies. Â Decided on the onion rings for an extra buck. Â Burger cooked perfectly but I couldn't taste the chilies and the onion rings were frozen. Â All that plus a tip for $23.
Anyway, it's ok. Nothing special. And there are better restaurants in he neighborhood. I'd def go back, but its not a weekly type of place for me.
Billy's is a great beer and burger joint. Â I had the BOMB Burger with the fried veggie appetizer and enjoyed both. Â Food was good and service was well above average. Â I'd do it again but would try some tacos. Â
I have to say Yelp hit this one on the money as Billy's current rating is somewhere between A-OK and Yay! I'm a fan. Â That's about where I fall with it myself.
Billy's was the first place I ate when I came to Denver 3 years ago. While the same server still cards me on a regular basis, Â I can't chide them for their consistency. I get exactly what I want every time. So here it goes:
Food: Baja Fish Tacos ...nice Choice. So is the Jiffy Burger.
Accuracy: 100%
Uniqueness: It's pub grub.
Temperature: Solid
Staff:
Friendly all the time, just wish after three years of dining on a regular basis, they would start to notice.
Ambiance:
Billy's has been around a long time. Â I like how they play reverence to the days of old. The photos in the bathroom really help tell that story, but sit at the bar long enough and you just might get a first hand account of how it was "back in the day".
Note: I can't confirm or deny that Billy's, Ernie's, and LoHi Steak Bar are related. Â However the Andy Warholesque repetition of bottles and toilet paper rolls, along with second bay of bar seating, plus a selection of magazines or games makes me think that one designer had a few great ideas and pulled out all his tricks on the three restaurants. I'm not complaining though. I like the trio as neighborhood go-to's.
Billy's is pretty good for a neighborhood pub. Â A place like this is more about the ambiance than the food, as pub fare is pretty standard anywhere.
I've been here twice, once with friends who live nearby and another time with my aunt, both times specifically for dinner, and both times on a weeknight in the summer. Â The place just screams "summer patio drinking and fun"! Â It's nice and open inside, so I don't ever feel cramped up with other patrons. Â The patio has less open space, but it's not terrible. Â They have a community high top table as well, which seems to be a theme at places in this neighborhood.
The staff is always friendly, the drink list and happy hour specials are good too. I've had burgers and tacos here, I'm interested in trying the green chili upon my next visit. Â
It's main draw is the feel and the HH specials, and I've had a good time when I've been here. Â I'm definitely willing to come back and try other menu items, it's be great if they had something that really stands out from other neighborhood spots.
Zero stars, Yelp won't let me rate zero! Â This place has a nice decor redo of a vintage space, the crowd was congenial and relatively attractive, the service was adequate.
The drinks were awful, margarita was small tasteless and weak, sangria resembled a tasteless Jumex blend with 7-up,, PBR was warmish.
Food. Â Nachos were dreadful, pico de gallo was bottled low quality salsa, chicken was steam-table jerky like, cheese was watered down nacho goop from a can, chips were greasy fried flour tortilla. Â Tacos were tasteless and meat dried out.
This place is heartburn heaven, I would like to be able to vomit this experience.
Overall rating: 5 tums!
Stop it
STOP IT
Dude next to, stop giving me the side glance as if I'm going to stop yelping and eating long enough to have a conversation with you.
Yes, you do look lonely.
I'm sorry for that.
Yes, you've tried three different ways to begin a conversation.
Yes, I am a douchebag.
I'm just trying to eat this surprisingly delicious half roast chicken and deflate. Â
No, I'm not anti social. Â I just prefer to suck this bone marrow out when no one is looking.
Also, you're a dude.
Cmon.
Stop that.
I've tried this place twice and had some shitty service. They all seem to disappear after I order my first beer. One guy was just wandering around aimlessly. It's one thing to come to work a little high, but this guy was BLAZED. He couldn't remember a damn thing. It would have been kinda funny if I wasn't so hungry and waiting for my food.
The 2nd time I stopped in the waitress was snooty all evening and when I went to the bathroom she was in there screaming on her phone about her scumbag boyfriend. Hey honey, take it outside. Nobody wants to hear your Jerry Springer episode.
I did enjoy my tacos, but the overall experience was disappointing.
Bacon!!
Need I say more? Ok, I will.
Beer!!
The wife and I have been to billy's a few times now, and have never been disappointed. We used to drive by it all the time when I lived up the street, and kept thinking 'hmm we should check that place out' and finally one day we did. Â
On our most recent excursion to billy's, (just back from our honeymoon, I might add) the tacos were blooming, the fries were singing, and all was right with the universe. That is to say, the wife got herself some delicious tacos, (branching out slightly from the usual mahis to try a steak!) and myself, being a sandwich man, got a Texas burger (but I asked for chicken instead of beef. Go figure) Wellsir, that burger was piled high with the most delicious bacon and bbq sauce and cheddar cheese, the likes of which this old cowboy has not seen in many a blue moon.
Needless to say, Billy's is delicious. Their beers are fresh, their foods are great, and their service is friendly and helpful. Add on the fact that it used to be the mobster's hangout back in the day (or so the pictures on the wall in the bathrooms would lead you to believe) and you've got a mighty-fine hangout establishment. Count me in!
Maybe she is born with it....?
Our waitress was a pretentious biatch from the very beginning. Since we had never been to Billy's before we wanted a moment to look at the menu and take it all in. The waitress handed us the menu's and then asked what we would like to drink. When we all decided that water was good "for now", she copped a serious attitude. First impressions are usually the best. FAIL! So we started to look through the menu.
First off, the menu isn't that big. They have some apps, salads, sandwich's, burgers, and some brunch fare. They have a very nice tequila menu, I'll give them that. But the prices here are completely ridiculous for the food they serve. I was able to try the fish tacos everyone raves about and they were very good. Not nearly the best I've had in town (IMO). Please, $4.00 for one taco. That's absurd. They had a lobster one on there that was over $7.00, for one!?! You must be joking. This is a bar BTW, so I'm sure they have the freshest lobster in town. I ended up ordering the Texas burger. Which had way to much BBQ sauce on it. After toweling down my burger I was able to taste it. It wasn't horrible. Just not worth the price.
Again, back to the service. The service just sucked! At no point did the waitress make us feel like we made a good decision by choosing Billy's Inn for lunch. Boo! She was rude, not around, and had not a care in taking care of us. Sorry Billy. I won't be back anytime soon and I'm sad about it because it could have been a great spot for us to hit up in the neighborhood.
Oh Billy's. I had such high hopes for you. I did expect it to be more dive-ish inside but was pleasantly surprised that it is not a dive.
I will say, the tacos are tasty. You can order them one by one and mix and match. I also thoroughly enjoyed my strawberry mojito.
But seriously, for a Saturday night, why was NO ONE on their A-game? It took forever for us to be greeted -- and then after eating, my BF had to wave down a bartender to get our check because our server was MIA. Â I think if we ever come back, we'll sit at the bar, and maybe just drink because it is a cool spot.
I will forgive the mariachi band that ruined our Cinco de Mayo dinner plans. Â Because on a return visit, I realized that they are still making improvements on this place. Â Temporary tippy tables in the bar area have been replaced by bolted down, marble-topped high tops, and some nice seating has been added to the patio area (the non-enclosed portion). Â I'm impressed.
Staff was very helpful at the beginning of the evening (hovering, even), so service was great to start off with.  But as the night wore on, we saw the manager drinking tequila behind the bar  (a big no-no during dinner rush in my book), and we found that the staff was becoming more concerned with socializing with each other than serving customers.  When someone came late to join our party, I had to get up to grab him a menu myself, as no one was eager to help us.  This seems to be an ongoing issue with Billy's.  Which is a shame, because the food coming out of the kitchen (black beans aside) has been great up to now.
Am very curious to see what patio dining will be like this summer. Â Please no more mariachi bands.
I was really apprehensive about going here. Â It was, hands down, the absolute skuzziest divey little nightmare of a place when I was in high school, and I remember vividly: practicing driving in the parking lot with my driver's ed teacher, and being distracted by a man lurking in the shadows who was sniffing paint, who looked over at me with contempt and then violently vomited all over himself and the side of the building. Â Neato! Â Â Â
YES this was a teensy little decade or two ago.
So my husband wanted to stop in there the other night, and I was like, um, there are projectile barfing paint sniffers that hang out in the parking lot there. Â He dug deeper into my grudge and we both agreed that I could grow as a person and give it another chance. Â
Well, suffice it to say that Billy there has outdone himself in the upgrading-of-the-building department, and the menu is great too. Â I had an enormous veggie-and-steak packed quesadilla, of which I could only finish half. Â My husband had some seafood something-or-other that he was thrilled with also (I was too busy with my food to look up). Â We sat out in the enclosed patio, and it was breezy and pretty and calm. Â Service was snappy and the beers were so cold they had little shards of ice in them. Â Yummy.
And not a vomiting paint-sniffer in sight.
Three stars for awesome margaritas and a nice atmosphere. I know this place is a North-Denver staple, but I always leave a bit disappointed.
There are so many wonderful restaurants in this part of town, it's a shame to drop so much money on inferior Mexican food and so-so sandwiches. Â
It would also be cool if their patio didn't smell like cat pee.
Popped in for a quick bite, and kinda regretted having bitten.
The fish tacos seem to be pretty popular and I mistakenly went with the flow. Â The mahi mahi one was really really sweet (it was so dark I couldn't see what was inside that made it taste like that) and the baja was more edible, but still not that great. Â Also had a taste of the chicken sand, and was not impressed there either. Â The bacon comes in thick slices, but it was way too sweet!!! Â The chicken didn't have much flavor either. Â The fries are the thin crispy kind, but they weren't anything to write home about either.
The best thing we had last night was the guac, and that was only OK also.
On the plus side it seems like a happening place to be go to and drink and the wait service was really attentive and friendly.
A bud of mine eats here pretty often and being transformed from what it was makes me see why. I don't comment often on decor but the west wall of the dining area I've been in love with that particular oramentation for quite a while. Also turn up the goddamn lights, and get some sound absorption in here! Have you tried to read your friggin menu in the dark? What'd you say? Huh?
Food was okay. Not amazing by any stretch. Paper thin piled shredded turkey when you're calling it oven roasted is like getting hamburger when you're expecting steak. $4.75 for a Corona, ten bucks for a turkey sand, Okay, I tried it. Call me if it gets any better
I can't wait to return again and again to see how Billy's gets better.
The baja menu perfectly matches the wide range of tequilas (that you can get three ways: salt/lime, pink grapefruit juice or with sangrita). One marg really made an impression: Billy's Coin!!
I sat at the bar so can not comment on the waitstaff (there seemed to be alot of them). The patio has misters and the place seems to be packed every day that I ride (the bus) by. Â
For those of us that had been in the old Billy's, this is night and day, and I'm glad they saved some of the photos of the old customers.
