Mmm steak. The waitress was really sweet and made sure we were happy. She checked on us often. Food was good. I don't like expensive food that doesn't taste expensive, but this was definitely worth it for the bf birthday. Forgot to mention the free chocolate cake!

Not bad. But not a good value. We had a sirloin steak and the fire-grilled chicken. Both were tasty; the chicken was a bit of a surprise because I was expected whole pieces on the bone with skin. Instead it was two breast filets cooked more or less like steak.

On the other hand, the presentation was dull. I seem to remember the entrees at Black Angus looking a lot better. And for what we paid, what we got just didn't measure up.

This was the first time I've been to this location and will be the last time! We went on a Thursday night around 6pm. Heard they have tons of TV's to catch the Spurs vs Heat Basketball game. We were seated and our ordered was taken. Drinks finally came after 25 minutes. Then my food order came 20 mins later. Why was there only 1 waitress in the bar area? Especially on happy hour/game night??? Finished our beverage and waited almost an hour got the waitress to even acknowledge us. Heck, we couldn't even enjoy the game because we didn't have a beverage in hand!!! I had to wave her down, then she said, Sorry! I said, Sorry too, that she wasn't getting a tip! Maybe her fault, but was really the manager's fault for just putting 1 person in that area! Very disappointed with the service here! We surely could of spent more money here and she would of gotten 20 amybe 50% tip but it totally sucked!!

You can always expect plenty of food, especially when you order the Campfire dinner for 2...with the coupon it is even better. $20 per person with a shared appetizer, soup or salad and meal plus 2 sides and shared dessert. We were full with the appetizer and salad and pretty muich ttok the entree and dessert home. Staff is friendly and fairly attentive and parking is a plenty...Quiet and noise level is low so you can carry on a conversation and hear the person you are speaking with and not hear your neighbors...especially if you are sitting at the booths.

Great waitress - she recommended this new type of Lemonade they were currently serving and it was delicious and also came in a huge glass.

She gave us ample time to choose our dinner, and was able to accommodate my sister's request of two sides of the same dish rather than mashed potatoes and then a vegetable.

Our steaks came the exact temperature we ordered, the food was delicious - just wish I had a bigger steak, I wanted more than just a small steak.

I loved this place! My older brother lives right around the corner from this Black Angus and although I drive there all the time when I go visit, I had not had anything there. To start off, there is PLENTY of parking. It is located in a shopping center, so I'm sure the other small businesses are not to happy to share, but oh well! :) As you walk in the light spectrum just goes down to almost pitch black in a very welcoming way... nothing freaky or dungeon like. We were greeted not just by ONE host... but TWO! Oh, boy... did we feel special. We were immediately asked how many and escorted through their maze of booths. I am not a fan of those U-shaped booths because it always sucks to be in the middle... in case you have to use the restroom you always have make everyone around you get up. After about a minute or two we were greeted again by a server who dropped off some water and complimentary bread. I normally do not go for the bread but when my sister in law cut a piece of that loaf and I saw the steam come out... I said FORGET IT!!! I'm getting me a piece of that! lol It was soooo good that I am glad I ordered a side salad before my meal because I was hooked on it and would have just kept eating that! lol Our server trotted right behind the guy with the complimentary bread and we placed our caffeinated drinks order. After perusing their menu we placed our orders and the food came out fast and just as ordered. It is so nice to go to a place that gets it right the FIRST time. After the food was delivered the server didn't come back as often but he made sure that the other server kept our drinks refilled and that made up for his lack of follow-ups. I had outstanding service and wonderful food. Thank you to all the BAS crew! :)

Eh.....

I brought my two younger siblings here because I thought my brother deserved his greatly-desired steak for being such a great brother, but the service was slow and the food was dry.

We all left unsatisfied. What a disappointing meal for a young man-to-be. I must take him somewhere that will bring hope to his heart for the love of steak.

I've been here a couple of times, and I'll just write my review on the most recent time I came here.

2.5 Nothing special, but will come here for a cheap steak dinner with my pops.

Taste: 1.5/3

We got the campfire dinner for 2 for about 50 bucks. We both got the rib eye, mine medium rare and his rare.

Appetizer: Chicken Tenders
Nothing special. Even a bit bland. Without the sauces it would have been like eating crispy air.

entree: Steak with side of french fries and mashed potatoes
The steak was actually pretty good. I liked it. A little under seasoned but they cooked it medium rare. Rib eye has a natural flavor already so I enjoyed it. The sides were good, but the fries were soggy. Not really how I like them.

Dessert: cowboy cookie
Pretty much BJ's Pazookie. A chocolate chip cookie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. Can't mess this up really.

Service: 0/1
Waited wayyyy too long. We got seated in the back area and it was SILENT. I mean that's pretty nice, but our waiter NEVER came by. I had to ask another table's waiter for some water. Not only that, but he didn't come by ONE time to ask if everything was okay. I think that things could have been a LOT better. Waiter wasn't mean or rude or anything, just not the service I expect.

Value: 1/1

For a three course meal, 50 bucks isn't too bad. Had plenty to take home and eat. I think it was a good deal.

Would I come here again? yeah, just because it is cheap and has a lot of food. Would I recommend it? probably not.

Black Angus should be working on a better ribeye. My 12 oz cut had approximately 6 ounces of fat on it. Our waitress was fully unconcerned, and when I asked for a replacement, she said she could bring one, but since it was from the same "roast" (huh??) it would look exactly the same. She didn't apologize, she was positive that my problem would be the same unless I asked for another cut of meat. At $24.50, I fully expected a sizzling hunk of steak. I got a fat-laden skinny little dumpy piece of meat. The manager did apologize, and of course she wouldn't let us pay for it, she was very kind. The waitress was brusque and not concerned. So beware the switch and bait menu!!

10/13/12: I expect to get the same great food no matter which Black Angus I go to. The server made us feel rushed. I only ate half of my filet mignon because it just didn't taste right and the texture was not good. My friend's food was bleh as well and he was not impressed. The food was VERY so-so. As always, you do get a large portion of food, but if it doesn't taste at least good, it doesn't matter. I'll never go back to this location.

UPDATE:
3/29/13: I decided to go back here and give the place one more shot. It was a bad on a whole new level. The service was slow, like beyond slow. The waitress was nice but obviously had no clue. The food was a little better this time, which almost saved them. Until we asked for boxes and our dessert (which we ordered in the beginning)...waited 5 minutes...the table behind us ordered the same dessert....waited 5 more minutes...the table behind us already got...wait 3 more minutes, got pissed, went to the manager.

Me to the manager "Look the waitress is very sweet but so incredibly slow, we've been here over an hour. and the real issue is everyone around us who acme in a few minutes after us is already on their way out." and I explained the dessert situation/ before I could finish she ran off and said she'd get it right out. That sent me over the edge.

When she brought it out, it didn't even look good. She set it down and started to apologize. I looked at her and said "I don't want that. You didn't even let me finish talking to you. We're never coming back here."

And you know what she did...SHE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE WE PAID AS WE GOT UP TO LEAVE!!!! I was SOOOOOO offended. We had paid, with cash like 20 minutes before. THAT'S HOW SLOW THIS WOMAN WAS!!!

Ugh. I'm a patient person. I was there for nearly an hour and a half. The service was slow, I was dealing, the food was ok, so I was still dealing, but then the dessert thing and manager thing pushed me overboard. As soon as I got home I emailed their corporate office, provided all of my information. We'll see how they handle it.

On the up side, I also emailed them about how great their Pleasant Hill location has always been over the last 10 years, so I know San Lorenzo CAN be better.

Finally after 3 years I came back to this location. I must say tonight was a much better experience. Knowing its a friday night I decided to make a reservation on open table just in case. There was no wait but better to be safe than sorry. We were seated by the hostess right away but it did take about 10 to 12 minutes for our waitress to come take our drink order and we knew what we were ordering anyways so we just put in our food order at the same time. She did come back promptly with our drinks and bread. I ordered the filet minon and lobster tail and i must say it was really good. the steak was tender and the lobster tail was huge! A little expensive but worth it. Overall the place has gotten better service and better waitresses. I will defin return in the future.

Extremely busy on a Friday Night. Duh! Good thing I had someone to save me a place at the bar. Had the shrimp cocktail for 10 bucks and got about 6 medium sized shrimp. A couple of beers later and I was up to $30 in no time. The bartender was so slammed that we had to ask someone else for a menu. Lots of TV's though, and to be fair I have been there when it was slower and the service was better. It is what it is. A chain restaurant for the family and sports minded.

Found a coupon and went for dinner last Saturday (1/19/2013). My boyfriend and I got there a little before 6 thinking that we wouldn't have too long of a wait...woops! We finally get seated only to have out server triple sat, one table being a family with a VERY LOUD and obnoxious child that SCREAMED over everything including her little DVD player that she has FULL BLAST! Silly me forgot my ear plugs at home

I believe we ordered the camp fire special. I order the zucchini, hope I wasn't charged extra for the vat of oil that dripped off of the. I had the chicken and broccoli for dinner and my boyfriend had the salmon and rice. My chicken was DRY and tasteless and my broccoli was a second away from being mush. My boyfriend didn't say much about his food. I tried the rice it was hard and tasteless.

Our total dining experience took 2 hours! I understand it was a Saturday. There were coupons that were just sent out and I am sure that 80% of the families there that early were using them so PREPARE YOUR SELF! There was no excuse for my food to be bone dry and tasteless or any reason why we had to ask for boxes once or meal was served.

In my opinion they were poorly staffed if you are triple seating a server at 6pm I didn't see one buss boy and servers literally ran by the table rather than refilling our drinks. Have they ever heard of team work, I bet if they had to split tips the story would be different.

I have worked in restaurants as well as bartended for the past 12 years and I was really put off by our experience there and doubt that we will ever return...coupon or not.

However I know better than to punish the server for things that he can't control...Thanks ALEX!!!!!

OMG , so much food. The "campfire feast" was such a deal with a coupon from the Sunday paper. Our party of four each ordered a different cut of steak; new york, rib eye, filet minjon, prime rib. All steaks were done exactly as ordered. It was nice to have the high back booths to dampen the noise and to provide some privacy.

No place for a diet here.

The potato skins were good, Caesar salad was okay, steak was kind of bland, and I could live without the strawberry cheesecake. The strawberry lemonade was actually good, despite being made with syrup. Our server, Gaby was great!

Their food is absolutely divine! I love their Camp Fire for 2 deals. Their chocolate cake is addictive! And the service is awesome.. sometimes a lil slow on not so busy nights but the waiters/waitress positive attitude always makes up for the slow service. They have a good selection of 21+ drinks. A delicious appetizer sampler plate that comes with shrimp, potato skins, fried zucchini and buffalo chicken strips. Everything is DELICIOUS here! & I made my reservations through YELP!! :)

Came here with the family. What a waste of time and money! So disappointed!!!

I ordered the chicken. When it arrived, the middle of the chicken was cold and they used so much rosemary, I couldn't even taste the chicken. Don't get me wrong, I like the smell of rosemary. However, too much it a total killer. I felt like I was eating a rosemary bush!

Ordered wine with dinner. I don't know if this waitress was new, having a bad day or what her frown face was for. When she delivered the wine, which came AFTER our dinner was served, she hit the glass on the side of the plate and the glass broke and the wine was everywhere, even on our clothes. I don't know what I was more shocked over....the wine and glass breaking or the no apology that we received. All that she said was "Let me get you some napkins." "You"...really!!???!!! SHE should have been the one to clean the mess up, not us.

Needless to say, we won't be coming back here. I will spend the extra time and gas driving to the Pleasanton location.

Sunday 4:30pm at Black Angus with my teenage daughter and her male friend. I've been to Black Angus before but they never had. I figured itll be a cool place to go, as the menu has options for all of our taste buds. I mean who cant choose between a particular steak, shrimp or lobster tail and options of sides? We sat in the bar area because it was hardly a crowd. That was a plus, especially this early evening. All the games were on the televisions hat they have. I was able to see the Giants and some football games I cared nothing about. Our cute waitress, that I think was fairly new, told us that we can order form the bar menu (that was on the table) and things on this page were these prices that are stated on the menu. Well cool. I noticed that appetizers are half of what they are in the entree menu. And best of all, wine is the same. Yay. So I definitely ordered from there with a smile. Since I had already ordered my wine before checking the menu out, my second wine would be that price and the first, regular price. No prob.
Now to the food. Appetizers: buffalo wings...The concept and flavor were there, however it hella missed the spice. We needed no water to eat those things at all.
Entrees: They both had the prime rib, shrimp, garlic mash and a loaded baked potato. I had he filet, shrimp(grilled), and garlic mash. I love a great steak but will settle for a good steak. I knew that whatever the case may be, the steak was going to be good. Now I don't know about them, but by the look of their steak, it didn't look all that. But since I was able to actually taste mine, "Oh hellz nah"! That was on the level of mediocre-ness . My meat needed some taste. I crae to not use steak sauce or table salt for my food but i had to. That bothered me. But it was a lesson learned. I know it's not Morton's but it is Black Angus. So I ate my shrimp, that are so easy to make. A toddler can make a grilled shrimp and the garlic mash lacked garlic. The loaded potato was loaded and looked delish. I would order that next time.

Now ready to depart, I ask for the check and noticed that everything that should be that particular bar menu price was the regular price. (Now let me say, that I never complain about the cost of anything especially a check. I enjoy to spend my hard earned money on life) Ok back to business lol. So I asked our waitress and she stated that she noticed that the bar menu price didn't show up on the check. She went to ask the manager about it and the manger said that the prices are Monday thru Friday only. The manager also stated that I had to pay the regular price anyway. So I asked the waitress did she tell her that you accidentally told me about the price? And she said she did. The manager to,d her she would have to take it out of her check. I know that this is protocol in the restaurant biz but damn. Se was new, young and the freakn menu was on the table. She looked like she wanted to cry. I told her to don't trip and gave her a twenty dollar tip.
Now I don't know this manager, but I don't care too much for her :)

Got points for making a reservation here on http://opentable.com. Easy shopping mall parking. Got seated promptly, Service was fine, although the kitchen seemed to be a bit slow.

Great coupon deal for two sharing an appetizer, a selection of entrees plus two sides, and sharing dessert for about $20 a person. My New York steak was perfectly cooked. Potato skins appetizer was great. Not too many green beans as one of my sides. I like to molasses bread. Onion rings ok. Fruit and ice cream on a large cookie was pretty good.

I'm OK with this place. Decent food for a good price.

But folks, let's get dressed up a bit when we come here for dinner, OK?

Nothing but good service at the bar. After a stressful weekend of doing nothing but watching NFL Football I really needed a drink pretty damm bad. Boy was I stressed.
Had a Filet Mignon Sandwich, a few Corona's and to top it off a few shots of Patron.
This must be one of my shortest reviews but like I said. It was a stressful weekend.

Consistently tasty!
I'm not a big fan of chain sit-down restaurants but Black Angus is an exception. I only go when I get a coupon for steak dinners for two for under $40 bucks. But every time I go, it's soo good. I always get the prime rib or filet mignon and it's consistently cooked to order, tender and juicy! The sides are good too! I usually go with the soup and salad but even the bread is awesome. It's served warm with butter. The decor is a western theme which is cool since the logo is a camping cowboy cooking over a campfire. The only letdown is the appetizers but you're here for the steak!
There's full bar with sports on the TVs and happy hour specials full of tall cocktails.
Be sure to treat yourself to a nice cut and a tall cold beer! You won't be disappointed.

Sit at LETICIA's station!!! She totally made our night. Food is always great there, but Leticia enhanced our dining experience for sure. She was swift, caring to our children, and had an incredible sense of humor. She is absolutely wonderful! I asked for a baked potato first thing, to be sure my daughter was fed right away cuz she was starving. Leticia brought it out ultra fast. Even my 4-year-old Son was super impressed, and told her "Excuse me. You're very nice." Love, love, love her!

P.S. Bring your 2-For coupon!

I will not be back to this location again.

* Artichoke appetizer was shriveled up, dried out and skimpy.

* Manager did not allow me to order something on the side that is normally not on the menu even though I had done it many times before and offered to pay extra. In a restaurant there is always a way to get your customers what they want in order to make them happy.

* Mom's salmon was extremely fishy, not fresh at all.

* My strip steak was about 50% fat so I got tired of dissecting it and brought home the scraps for my dog.

* Red velvet cake was sub par. The one my mom made me for my birthday from a box mix was way better.

The icing on the cake was that I wanted to send them an email addressing my concerns. I wasn't expecting any compensation. I got a response alright. It was a two sentence mass produced form letter. Like the manager took two seconds to copy paste and send. That did it for me. I have never been so disappointed.

Needless to say I have been a loyal patron of Black Angus for over ten years. It was my spot for birthdays, anniversaries or just date nights. The quality of food was one thing but the lack of concern and blatant disregard for customer service regarding my concerns from the general manager here was the last straw.

I will be taking my hard earned money elsewhere from now on.

As I came home from work on a Friday afternoon, I was hecka hungry. I just had a very hectic day at work. As I stepped foot into the house, I find out we were having a family dinner at Black Angus. My sister and bro-in-law had some coupons that were going to expire, so they wanted to use them before they expired.

Thank goodness for my sister using http://Opentable.com via Yelp. When we got to the restaurant, there were other parties waiting to be seated. We had a reservation for a group of five set for 7:30pm. Just when my sister announced our arrival, we were seated almost immediately.

Our waitress was very attentive. She was already ready to take our drink orders when we were settled in our booth. Once our waitress came back with our drinks and bread, we were ready to order. The coupons that come with the Sunday paper are very handy.

For our party of five we all shared two sampler platters. These sampler platters looked skimpier from previous years. The sampler included:

- Two baked potato wedges
- Four cocktail shrimps
- Five or six buffalo strips
- A pile of fried zucchini
- Two celery sticks
- Two dipping sauces Blue cheese & Ranch

Everything tasted great. The only thing I couldn't eat was the shrimp since I will have a very bad gout attack. The next appetizer on the list was our individual picks. I went with steak soup. The steak soup was too salty for my taste. To lighten the saltiness I ended up pouring some of my ice water in the soup. Even when I did that the result was still the same.

Now for the main course I had ordered the prime rib with a side of French fries. I like my prime rib cooked medium rare and it was cooked that way. What can I say about the French fries? They were lightly salted and crunchy.

And finally for dessert we all shared one big mountain fudge cake and a red velvet cake. The big mountain fudge cake is always a big with topped with vanilla ice cream. There was also a side of hot fudge. Unfortunately, it was not hot at all. We asked our server to see if she can heat it up. It seemed their fudge machine was broken since it was not hot and runny. As for the red velvet cake, it was okay. It tasted a little stale. I'll just stick to the cup cakes instead.

This was a great evening for our family to bond. This may not be one best steakhouses I've been to. But the deals are great here. Just as long as the coupons keep coming, will be here for sure.

Its a Chilly Rainy Day and I'm in a "Wheres The Beef Mood". So I rolled to Black Angus . This Black Angus has a checked past at night it used to have a DJ and a dance floor in the old days. Too many Drunken Brawls ended that. I haven't eaten there for years ,but its one of the last local Steakhouses in the area.

I arrived and was able to park very easily as the Strip Mall that its located in is a Ghost Town . I wander in to Black Angus and was greeted and given a number . It was a short wait about 10 minutes before I was escorted to a table by the Hostess.

I perused the Menu and decided on the Prime Rib ,A Dozen Shrimp,Loaded Baked Potato, Onion Rings and a Root beer. My server Daniel rolled by my table took my order and rolled off. He was back with my Root beer and Molasses bread in 5 minutes .

15 Minutes later Daniel rolled up with my Platter . It had a nice 6 Oz slice of Medium Rare Prime Rib,12 Fried Shrimp,Onion Rings and a Loaded Bake Potato . The Prime Rib was so tender Yum. I'm a sucker for Fried Shrimp so that's a no brainer and the Baked Potato so filling.

Paid with Discover Card Yea!! And Rolled out.

Hard to decide between 2 and 3 stars, but frankly for the price it's just not that great. Service can be slow, the steaks are a little meh.

The sides are more tasty and the price is okay if you
A) want an appetizer and dessert (they are better than the steak...) and
B) have the coupon from the newspaper

We went here a few times, but frankly I think we'll drive farther to go elsewhere from now on and get a better steak.

But if you really want a steak fix and are nearby it's okay.

Ok, I have complained about Black Angus before so I feel the five stars in this case is more than justifiable. I went here with my mom and sisters for my sister's birthday. The service was wonderful- I don't know if they brainwashed their wait staff and chefs but MAN OH MAN!

The prime rib was perfect, they have a new side called sweet potato with a maple/crack sauce. The server was on her game and kept the drinks full, the bread was always hot and then dessert.

Let me get serious for a moment. The last few times I have eaten dessert at B.A. it was gross. The cake dry, so dry that the ice cream even seemed dry. The brownies were like square pieces of blacktop that smelt faintly of coco. But they have these new cookie things. BEST COOKIES EVER!!! Better than any cookie I have ever had- gooey and warm, soft and chewy with the edges crispy but not hard or tough. They changed ice creams too the new ice cream is creamier- almost like a gelato.

If you haven't been lately, maybe you should give them another shot- be sure to have a cookie and don't say that I didn't warn ya!!!!

It took awhile for us to get seated - they said 5 minutes but it almost took 20 minutes.

I ordered my meat medium well but it seemed like it was cooked medium rare. My boyfriend ordered his meat medium rare and it looked rare. The rest of the food was okay but overpriced.

The waiter was really friendly though.

Throughout the years this steakhouse has changed everything from ownwership to name and menus... It drives me crazy. Items I love they change or remove. Biggest example has to be the cheesy bread. It used to be dynomite! Now it taste like the lucky brand garlic bread.

Went from 5 to 4 to now only...

Ya know, it takes a lot to get one star from me. And I almost feel bad giving it just one. The people weren't horribly rude or anything, but they weren't impeccably nice either, so one start it is.

I went here for Thanksgiving dinner, which is another sad story involving spending the day in the hospital with my mom. So I am in need of a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Well, its about 7 at night when we are leaving and nothing, of course, is open. We haven't cooked our turkey (its having a party in the fridge thinking it escaped the horror of the Thanksgiving ritual.) and finally we find out Black Angus is open! Okay, all hope is not lost.

I peruse the menu... ahhh yes... some bacon could certainly make this day better. I order the bacon cheeseburger. Yep, that's some good comfort food. We order this to go. The food is ready in the amount of time they said it would be. The price, well I was ready to bite that bullet when the food was just imaginary in my head, but after eating it... yeah, right!

We get in the car, and all I talk about on the way home is how the only reason I ordered this burger was for the bacon, and that I should have just ordered a "bacon burger", like a BLT without the LT. By now you may have a pretty good idea of what's happening next.

We get home, unpack the food, I open my burger lid...I search frantically, scanning, assuming there's been some horrid mistake and my bacon was misplaced in another container.... alas... there was no bacon anywhere to be found.

I called them back and told them. They remade my burger and I had to go pick it up. I mean, at least they didn't give me a hard time about remaking it, but really? I had to go back, a nearly 15 minute drive each way, to pick this thing up, when they could have just done it right the first time?? And they didn't even give me anything extra to compensate -- they skimped on the bacon, and the food wasn't even extremely delicious. It wasn't the worst, but it certainly wasn't worth the price we paid.

Needless to say we won't head back there any time soon. I don't deal well with having to correct other people's mistakes when I am paying them for it, but on a terrible Thanksgiving night on top of it all? No thanks. Don't need to deal with it. But hey, it was a Thanksgiving dinner, everyone in my family was safe and warm, so I don't want to complain too much.

After an entire weekend of non stop eating and drinking, my dad wanted to come here for dinner ... so I couldn't say no. I also couldn't order anything healthy for fear of being heckled by my family so prime rib it was.

My dad had a coupon for $37 for 2 people which included an appetizer to share, an entree for each and a dessert to share. We ordered 2 sets of those for our family of 4. We all ordered prime rib and shared the sampler and onion rings as appetizers and had the mud pie and cinnamon sugar cookie for dessert.

It didn't seem busy but service seemed slow. While service always circled back to any request we made, we had to ask for refills on our drinks, water etc. The appetizers were hearty ... and served hot. Decent onion rings. The meat wasn't bad quality, just didn't have much flavor in it. Even the au jus sauce was sort of bland. My other complaint is that my dad ordered medium ... but his meat was definitely medium rare.

It's not a place I would have gone for dinner, but you don't say no when your folks want to take you out and catch up.

Came to the "B.A." as my friend Amanda Calls it and had an early dinner after the A's game. The B.A. would be considered a budget steak spot IMO. The decor feels like you're a barn that's dimly lit and has cow boy photos everywhere. The food is what it is. Nothing spectacular and not that horrible either Service took a little while to get going but once our waiter greeted us and took our order he was on spot. Too bad it only took him about 15 minutes to acknowledge us.

Anyway, I had a prime rib dinner with two sides, loaded baked potato and sweet potato fries. The 1/2 lb cut seemed a little small but I have to say it was pretty good. My friend Amanda had the chicken teriyaki with string beans and she had no complaints. Overall the B.A. is decent but its nothing really to write home about either.

Black Angus is not fine dining. It isn't a place to get all dressed up and go out for a night on the town. Plain and simply, Black Angus is a place for a coupon steak dinner.

My wife and I went here after we received their coupon in the mail and that's probably the only reason why we went. $37.00 for a 4 course meal, which includes an appetizer, choice of soup/salad, 2 dinners, and choice of dessert. You can't beat that recession special. Granted, the food is definitely far from great, but it's also far from horrible.

When I was a kid, Black Angus was our special treat for the family. My dad would tell us, "come on kids, let's put on our coats cause we're headin' to Black Angus!" and my sisters and I would scream with glee. We couldn't wait to sit in the big, dimly lit booths and order our Shirley Temples with extra cherries.

Black Angus did not give me that same childlike glee, but when I came here for my cheap steak dinner, I smiled just a little when the check came.

If you're a steak baller on a budget, grab that coupon and come on down.

Holla!

Woo hoo! First one to review.

I can't believe no one's ever reviewed this one? Must be hidden and difficult to find. Whenever I go here I always forget which exit also. If going south on 880, you take off on lewelling and at the off ramp you go straight into this little side road next to the Hilton Inn to get to this main street which you turn right and than a left (or a u-turn) to get to the Black Angus which is in a medium-sized strip mall. Sound confusing, yes it is.

Okay, enough of that. On to the review!

I've been coming here for the last 10 years. It's always been a decent place to get a nice steak or prime rib. Especially when they got the coupons. The trio coupons are okay ($14.99 for a Top Sirloin, small lobster tail, and 4 fried prawns. Comes with your choice of soup or salad too) The lobster was small. Not small as in "Aww how cute!", but small as in "Wow. That's small." 2-3 bites tops unless you want to savor it and cut it smaller. It was a good taster at least! :) (See picture? You can barely see it behind the shrimp cocktail sauce.)

The other deal is $34.99 which is a 2-person 4-course meal. Your choice of one of their delicious meats, soup or salad for each, 1 appetizer to share and 1 dessert to share. Coupon probably saves you $10 at least.

The place is reminiscent of old steakhouses where you're in a cavernous room with an open ceiling and all you can see is dark wooden beams with lights hanging strategically to light up only each table. It gives it a nice comfy feeling.

Service has always been good as far as I remembered. Waiters are very attentive and food comes out quick. I ordered the trio deal and my wife had the 8 oz. Prime Rib with baked potato. She had the upgraded Cesar salad for $2.99 extra and I had the garden salad. She thought the salad was good but I was a little disappointed that for $2.99 they used regular lettuce and not Romaine. I really like placed that give you fresh hot bread with your salad too! Ordered the suggested wines for each of the dinners and we had to admit it was pretty good pairings. We're not wine connoisseurs, but tasted good to us!

Dinner came. Big ol' prime rib for her and I got my trio. Everything was good! Lobster was tiny, but didn't really expect a big one for the deal. At least we got a taste of it. (See pictures) We ate everything. And we were full. Don't get an appetizer (unless it's the 4-course deal). You will be full! Top sirloin wasn't really cooked to my liking of medium, but it was a nice piece and tasted okay. Shrimps were great and you know what I said about the lobster. Wife's prime rib was good! I think this is probably the best that this place offers. Short of going to San Francisco, I definitely would come here for the prime rib. It came out exactly the way she ordered it--Medium Rare. And she finished it (which is amazing if you know how tiny she is!).

Ahhhh....Meat good. Me Full. Me be back...(with coupon!)

Craving a steak on Saturday 6/21 my friend and I were debating on whether or not to go out to Dublin or Union City to hit up Outback. Then I remembered there was a Black Angus in Hayward so off we went.

When we got there we were asking to site and wait for about 5 minutes which really isn't a big deal just a little odd since the place was pretty empty.

Overall my friend and were both very happy with our food. I got the NY Strip with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The asparagus were really good.

My friend ordered the fillet mignon with mushrooms and blue cheese on top. He said it was very good.

The service was good our waitress was nice and we got everything in a timely manner, we were there around 5:30 and had managed to beat the dinner rush I think that helped a lot.

I am giving them 3 stars because the food was pretty good but nothing to get too excited about.
