stopped in here by choice/chance, curious about what's happening here with all the bar turnover in the 'dro.found there's a new owner(dave) here, no happy hour, cool with that.:
drink with 5-7 bartemder
gin/tonic(4)
-average, ok
some sweet tahitian drink(8)
-needs some polish but pretty good stiff drink
spend time with a self-proclamed spanish guy who loved to tell jokes:
'"what do you call mexicans who sleep in the afternoons?" Â his answer: "loafers"
i objected. Â i reminded him this could be the precedence to the present day "power naps". he didn't buy it. saying i was giving him a hard time.
drink:: different bartender takes over, ordered her speciality
-*vodka, ?, jagermeister splash (8)
tasted like straight water, comes in a short glass
when challengened, bartender says i  drunk one already in a manhatten-looking glass. straight out lie. never got nor drunk anything in a manhattan-looking glass...
-jokester's "girl friend" who was by my side, disappears.
on draught::
-either bartender is out to fleiss new patrons or tryijng to protect liquor license.
since it's only my 3rd drink, no reason to suspect public drunkenness (my opinion)
-if i was drunk, no need to take my $$ nor tip, no notice just grab my $$ Â & went,
could have refused to serve me. cool with that. sense this isn't just a drunk issue but racial profiling. since i caught them. they claim i was drunk.. HA!
-maybe that's why nobody's drinking here. not even white people.
Born and raised in San leandro, my cousins and I had never stepped foot in a San Leandro bar. Â One night we got the crazy idea to do a San Leandro bar crawl. Â Gallagher's was the 2nd stop out of the 3 bars we were going to hit up.
Like most said, the crowd is mixed. Â There were a few douchey looking guys. Â I was a little nervous stepping into this shady bar. Â Afterall, this isn't one of those trendy bars in San Francisco. Â We're talking San Leandro here. Â To our surprise, everyone was pretty welcoming. Â It was someone's (Veronica?) birthday that night, so within 30 seconds of stepping inside, we were asked to sing her happy birthday and were offered some birthday cake.
Anyway, the drinks are strong and pretty reasonable. Â Well drinks were four bucks, and my Captain Diet was only five bucks. Â
We shot a few rounds of pool. Â ($1 / round). Â Put a few bucks into the juke box. Â (There's no music otherwise).
To say the least we never made it to San Leandro sketch bar number three, but we did hit up Jack in the Box, which is conveniently across the street) after closing time.
