Good sound though in this place..
shitty dj..you couldn't even handle your own Pioneer CDj-1000 loser. try playing on a little tykes keyboard before you buy stuff worth more then your car.
I am a huge fan of a late night menu, I ate a bacon wrapped beef filet and some pierogie thing at 2am with the hottest crowd I have ever seen in Huntington , the food was amazing, The atmosphere , I wish I was 10 years younger!!!!!!! There was a dj playing place is small and cute, I looked out the window they have a courtyard that looks summer amazing def my new spot,, I lived in Huntington for 29. Years, I can't tell you what was there before the Black Latern , but they are there to stay
Review Source:went here because they have open bar which if you order a drink they will charge you unless you say I want the open bar which is really weird and sort of sneaky. when it first opened it was great especially the drinks. now they are so watered down and disgusting I rather go to Honu and pay$14 for a delicious Martini that will give me a good buzz. plus the night we went it was boiling in there. and they should have left the bathrooms coed because waiting for 1 bathroom after a group of like 5 girls go in was a pain in the ass.
Review Source:This restaurant should pay more attention to their food and less attention to their ambiance. The service was good, but the food was mediocre.
We started with some cucumber-flavored water and a free appetizer of mini egg rolls (both decent). Then we ordered a fried tofu appetizer (the best part of the meal), an overly bitter eggplant appetizer, and two rolls from the regular menu. I think the rolls were salmon and spicy tuna, or something common like that. These tasted considerably less fresh/delicious than the sushi that I'm used to, and the appearance looked a little sloppy as well, though it was difficult to tell in the dim lighting. I also thought the prices were a little high for what we got. My friend ordered a bowl of miso soup that cost 5 or 6 dollars, and it was a surprisingly small portion.
I guess if you want to go here to drink and be in a club-like setting, then it would be fine, but I wouldn't go here specifically for the food. The environment gave off that vibe as well and we found the music to be too loud in general, but the old movies on display were somewhat entertaining. Overall, I'd only go back if the food improved.
Will never go to this place again. This is based only on the bar atmosphere and not the food. Paid ten bucks for what I thought I ordered was a vodkasprite drink. It was definitely water or tonic in the kettle one bottle and the drink was gross. Complained to two other bartenders who both tries to fix the drink by adding the same so called kettle one to it. Ended uP leaving the drink undrank on the bar bc it was that gross. Will never go here again. Would rather buy vodka at a liquor store then pay for water and sprite mixed drinks. Horrible bar tenders and service
Review Source:I'm dying to try the food. Although the reviews don't look so good. I've been there twice for drinks. I don't know what they did to it, but it taste great. I was having cranberry and vodka all night so that's what I ordered. It was different, very tasty and stronger. But it has a very small bar. There wasn't anywhere to sit when I went. I loved how the floor had a glass panel where you can see everyone below.
Review Source:Ok, my review does not include food or quality of drinks, just the vibe. This place is as close to Huntington has ever had to a real club (see LA). I've been glow painted (thanks Ghost Girls!), seen a fashion show, cage girls, and most importantly great beats. If you want a nice dinner, or don't like hanging out with youngsters, head to Piccolo or Jonathan's. If you are down to move and want to spend a sweet summer night lounging outdoors in the back, you are home. Enjoy!
Review Source:The bar was empty for a Saturday night at 9, The back patio was funky and had a relaxed cool vibe with some odd but cool albeit getting dirty outdoor furniture. The music was a cool hip vibe.
Inside we ordered sushi at the bar, not upstairs at the sushi bar.
They have a good sushi chef in there and the presentation was good and the flavor was there.
The staff was young but accomodating and upon request played bee gees in the bar so my friend could start dancing where there was no dance floor. In other words not much happening and we were making our own fun.
Drawn in from the street by a groovy lounge vibe and watching a few other patrons having fun.
1) Kids run this place. No manager to be found, no staff member present was over the age of 21!
2) the cocktails were horrible, the DJ is the bartender and he was just a kid and couldn't even pour a soda right.
3) service was so bad, didn't dare stay for food. Â It's a shame, because it certainly has potential.
My review is not based on the food because I arrived around 10pm on a Saturday night when the DJ was in full spinning mode. As we walked in, I did notice a couple eating some sushi with what looked like a maple syrup container...and that REALLY skeeved me out. But let me tell you, the potent drinks from the buxom bartender sure cured my concerns and helped get us in the party mode. They moved the tables in the main area to allow for some party type movement and we proceeded to have a great time since the DJ was spinning some great tunes. Turned into a wonderful party night for us...but again, I wasn't there for the sushi, so maybe this place does need to become just a cool lounge for late nights?
Review Source:I hate writing a bad review, but this needed to be done.
Black Lantern Sushi Den recently opened, and from the street it is mysterious and interesting looking. Â After setting foot inside, I immediately felt that something was off. Â This is high-concept gone wrong.
Layout - the first floor is mostly a large bar, with some tables. Â Upstairs is the sushi station (which you can't sit at) and very low tables. Â We were seated at low tables, which would be good for lounging, but who wants to eat sushi and miso soup at mid-shin level? Â We eventually asked to be moved to the tables on first floor, which didn't work well either - when your chair is pulled out you are in the aisle as most of the floor is taken up by the bar. Â Bad planning. 1/5
Ambiance - white tables and chairs, goofy dorm-room strobe and disco lights, funky electro-beats being well-orchestrated by a DJ. Â 3/5 (without DJ 2/5)
Service - i felt SO bad for the waitresses - they were all very thin, young and pretty but forced to wear micromini dresses and huge heels - they are running up and down clear plexiglass stairs all night in four inch heels, I don't know how they do it. Â Our waitress was nice, but didn't seem to know the menu well and didn't really check up on us which was unfortunate when we wanted to send back some food. 3/5
Food - Â the fish was bad. what more needs to be said? We had several pieces of sashimi and a few rolls. Â The yellowtail and fluke sashimi tasted awful, while the tuna was passing and the salmon was fairly decent. Â Almost all of the rolls had some sort of tempura or fried items, the three we tried were not very enjoyable at all. Â 0-1/5
Overall, if they spent a little more time worrying about their food, and a little less time worrying about waitresses looking good and DJ spinning tunes, we'd have something I would return to. Â Honestly their best bet is just to turn into a lounge - the food is just plain unappetizing.
I would definitely not return.
