Just came here last night. I first called to see when they were open till and the guy was like...ahhhh whenever. Then he started laughing and since it was a Tuesday I asked if the place was dead and he said no there was about 20 people there. Then, he asked where I was and I was like ummmm .2 miles away and I asked for his name, which was Dave, and me and my girls walked there.
Once we arrived there was nobody bartending, he was playing darts because apparently there are tournaments on Tuesdays. There was about 20 people just like he said. Anyway the bartender playing darts was Dave. He served us our drinks, very kind and friendly man. He also gave us Dr. Pepper shots....those were SO GOOD!! They also have specials everyday which seem to be from 8pm to 12am. There was leftover pizza there which Dave kindly offered.
The whole crowd seemed to know Dave and they were very welcoming to us. This place is very laid back with fantastic customer service! Great place to grab a drink and a Dr. Pepper shot. We will be coming back here.
Real chill atmosphere. Different from the high-end strip feel of some village bars. It's not a refined micro-brewery bar or a complete dive-bar, more like a local casual bar spot you'd find anywhere. Very mixed crowd of old & young, regulars and first-timers all getting along. One pool table in the back and a dart board on the side. Old shabby bathroom, but hey, your not going on a first date there. Real friendly day-time/evening bartender. It was my first time there (Jan '13), but usual special seems like 2for1 Buds. Tasted like water after just previously having a Monster Ale or something at Canterbury Ales for 11 bucks. The Tavern is nice to go by with a few friends randomly or before you go see a show next door at the Paramount.
Review Source:The bars in Huntington that I find I enjoy have become seriously limited throughout the last several months. Â Huntington Village Tavern however is one of the few bars where I don't feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. Â The age group is mixed and it's a casual low key hang out and have some beer dive bar. Â I have been here about five times and all four times I have come straight from work in sweatpants and a sweatshirt and I didn't feel like I was getting stared down by bitchy girls like I usually do when I go out in the village. Â
The bartenders are not the fastest but they seem nice. Â Last night the special board said two for one bud lights until 1 am. Â Well when I got there at midnight and asked for the two for one special that my sister got seconds before I did the bartender told me that special stopped at 11. Â Not sure why the sign said 1 but I quickly got over it. Â I don't like that there is only one bathroom. Â Tends to form a line rather quickly and its annoying constantly getting bumped into by people trying to pass. Â
Get the fishbowl if you go, $20, and it will do some serious damage, in a good way.
There is always and I mean ALWAYS that solo guy standing right by the large mirrors by himself scoping out the chicks. Â It's funny, almost as funny as the 90's music they play. Â Jock Jams, N'SYNC and Britney. Â HEY, I'm not complaining.......
