Just came here last night. I first called to see when they were open till and the guy was like...ahhhh whenever. Then he started laughing and since it was a Tuesday I asked if the place was dead and he said no there was about 20 people there. Then, he asked where I was and I was like ummmm .2 miles away and I asked for his name, which was Dave, and me and my girls walked there.
Once we arrived there was nobody bartending, he was playing darts because apparently there are tournaments on Tuesdays. There was about 20 people just like he said. Anyway the bartender playing darts was Dave. He served us our drinks, very kind and friendly man. He also gave us Dr. Pepper shots....those were SO GOOD!! They also have specials everyday which seem to be from 8pm to 12am. There was leftover pizza there which Dave kindly offered.
The whole crowd seemed to know Dave and they were very welcoming to us. This place is very laid back with fantastic customer service! Great place to grab a drink and a Dr. Pepper shot. We will be coming back here.
Real chill atmosphere. Different from the high-end strip feel of some village bars. It's not a refined micro-brewery bar or a complete dive-bar, more like a local casual bar spot you'd find anywhere. Very mixed crowd of old & young, regulars and first-timers all getting along. One pool table in the back and a dart board on the side. Old shabby bathroom, but hey, your not going on a first date there. Real friendly day-time/evening bartender. It was my first time there (Jan '13), but usual special seems like 2for1 Buds. Tasted like water after just previously having a Monster Ale or something at Canterbury Ales for 11 bucks. The Tavern is nice to go by with a few friends randomly or before you go see a show next door at the Paramount.
Review Source:The bars in Huntington that I find I enjoy have become seriously limited throughout the last several months. Â Huntington Village Tavern however is one of the few bars where I don't feel like I stick out like a sore thumb. Â The age group is mixed and it's a casual low key hang out and have some beer dive bar. Â I have been here about five times and all four times I have come straight from work in sweatpants and a sweatshirt and I didn't feel like I was getting stared down by bitchy girls like I usually do when I go out in the village. Â
The bartenders are not the fastest but they seem nice. Â Last night the special board said two for one bud lights until 1 am. Â Well when I got there at midnight and asked for the two for one special that my sister got seconds before I did the bartender told me that special stopped at 11. Â Not sure why the sign said 1 but I quickly got over it. Â I don't like that there is only one bathroom. Â Tends to form a line rather quickly and its annoying constantly getting bumped into by people trying to pass. Â
Get the fishbowl if you go, $20, and it will do some serious damage, in a good way.
There is always and I mean ALWAYS that solo guy standing right by the large mirrors by himself scoping out the chicks. Â It's funny, almost as funny as the 90's music they play. Â Jock Jams, N'SYNC and Britney. Â HEY, I'm not complaining.......
It seems everyone beat me to it, this place is unpretentious and comfortable like sweat pants. The booze is reasonably priced and last time I checked they have specials every night of the week. If you want to hang with some friends it's the perfect place because it's cheap and you can still hear each other. They also have a pool table in the back.
Review Source:Drew has it down in his review.
My drink was very strong so I was psyched  about that.  Crowd was my age bracket.
Its a stop all and all when your in Huntington.
Horrible music...Boy Band stuff. who the fuck wants to drink to that?? why dont we play the Barney I Love You song while we want to rekindle our early years.
Really, what's not to love. Let's be honest - Huntington Village has a myriad of hoity-toity places you can go to and pay $12 bucks a drink, but if you want a chilled out environment then the Tavern is calling your name.
Friday nights are the best here, they play 80's and 90's music on the TV'S with their corresponding videos that usually involve permed hair, neon and spandex. When you can sing "Mr. Big" on a night out, it's been a success. Plus they have drink specials, bottles are 2fers and they do buy backs. Bartender Kurt is awesome - shout out to him to making girls night out super fun.
My boy and I have also been here, and he still owes me for a bet placed on a game of darts. Beginner's luck, I nailed that bulls eye on my second try. Plus, there's a pool table if that's your cup of tea.
Basically, if you want a fun place where the people don't suck and the workers are all friendly, the music is good and the drinks are super reasonable, come to the tavern. I have seen the infamous fishbowls but haven't yet been brave enough to try one. If you do, please dear God, do NOT drive home!
Cheers!
From the outside this bar should scare lots of people off. Â The combiation of a young crowd, an all wood interior, tinted windows and cheap beer signs on the outside usually have that effect. Â I am here to tell you Do Not Fear the Tavern! Â If you venture inside you won't find the classiest joint in the world but it is an excellent spot to enjoy a couple brews in a fun, dive-y atmosphere. Â No fights, no overcrowding and no dance floor grinding goes on. Â If you can handle that your golden.
The drinks are reasonable and there are usually some specials running from various beer brands (last time was 2-4-1 in the Bud family). Â The bartenders are always fast, friendly and good with a buy back every few rounds. Â
I came here on a Sunday thinking it would be a good place to watch a game but when I arrived the place was pretty dead. Â They did have some drink specials (nice) and a free buffet (super nice), but the buffet was filled with some boiled hot dogs and a tray of baked ziti that had been sitting out for a while (still appreciated).
So def stop here if your crawling down NY Ave and need a place to take a quick shot, grab a beer or watch a midweek Yankee game but skip it on Sundays. Â
Tip: Bet your friend they cannot drink a fish bowl by themselves. Â Even if they win, they lose bc they have been drinking out of a fish bowl feverishly for an hour. Â Dummy.
Huntington Village Tavern, I was ever so slightly wrong about you in my last review....
You have actually turned out to be quite the fun place, especially on St. Patty's Day. Â I do not normally go out for this particular holiday seeing as I find it to (mostly) be an amateur drinking night and watching bar fights is not fun to me. Â However, a friend of mine and I wandered in and noticed for such a holiday, it was rather quiet. Â The bouncer wished me a happy belated birthday (bonus points for that), a bunch of people were drinking their signature fishbowls, and the music wasn't all boy bands this time around.
They played The Gaslight Anthem and that instantly hooked me and made me stay for a beer. Â It wasn't the perfect pour of Guinness, by any means, but it got the job done and made me stay for awhile. Â During our time there, we saw a drunk get thrown out and somehow leave his wallet and cane at the bar. Â That was interesting. Â The rest of our time spent there was typical bar people-watching. Â This was all followed by more and more good music. Â Now I can say I would like to come here more often.
very fun place!  laid back bar with none of  the pretentiousness ( hope thats a word) that most bars in huntington have.  Music plays all night along with the correct  music video to match the song.  They often have great beer  specials , 2 bottles for $5.  Many girls loved the gigantic fishbowl drinks , sharing them with several of their friends with large straws.  minus 1 star for the bathroom.  I understand its a dive but the bathroom was disgusting, smelled and appeared that someone had "gotten sick"  in their.  But  I really had a fun time and will be back again.
Review Source:I'm surprised at the low reviews given...I'm not sure if anything has changed since the last time some have been to the Tavern, but it is one of the most laid-back bars I have been to. Â One of the only bars in Huntington to have outstanding drink specials during prime hours/weekends. Â It's a great 20 & 30 Something crowd, so the 80's and 90's music videos are a lot of fun to reminisce over...and if the music is socially awkward for you...try the amazing FISHBOWL....that will have you striking up a convo in no time! Â I love this place.
Review Source:How do you really Yelp a bar where your general goal is to drink? You can't really seek much entertainment at one besides you and your friends provide for one another. With that being said ..
I agree with one other reviewer who said this may be the dive bar in the area. It's just one long space that leads to the back where you can play pool and darts. Good selection of a few beers that are $5.50; Irish car bombs $8; a giant alcohol infused fishbowl $20.
There are TVs playing music videos; generally good music. Bartendress was pretty friendly and gave fast service.
If memory serves me (haven't been there since 05 or 06) this is one of the less pretentious Huntington establishments. It could be the last dive bar hold out in the Village. Some great memories of good times there in the late 90s and early 00s but times change.
Someone who goes on the night before Thanksgiving should post a review.
