So-So, not overly crazy about the place but near the hotel and easy and fast to get to in order to grab a happy hour pint.  Really just a bar, not looking to appealing to have food but more a watering hole.  Decent crowd and nice outdoor seating on the patio.

    Southside location.

This place is just okay. Never had their food but the beer selection is good. Not sure what it is but I never stay here longer than just a few drinks. If I had to choose, I'd pick other places to go but I wouldn't oppose to going back. The bartender Noel was nice the last few times I went after work.

We had seval drinks and a couple of sandwiches to go. Overall good food for a good value, with good service.

We had the Dixie PO Boy and the Wild Turkey Club with an order of Onion Rings.

    Yum.

My husband and I have been going to Black Market fairly consistently since we moved to Birmingham last year. The food is a solid 3 stars but the drinks are definitely 5, so I'll meet in the middle with 4 stars.

Now that the weather is warmer, I find myself wanting to sit on patios to drink beer often, and Black Market is a great place to do so. This bar is a great place for a few friends to meet up or for a large group to hang out for the night.

I'm a fan of their "Cherry Choke" drink, which mixes coke, vanilla vodka, regular vodka, and cherry - I find it perfectly sweet and potent at the same time. The husband loves Black Market's beer selection as well.

As for the food, it's okay but does the job when that tummy starts rumbling after drinking for a little bit. The best appetizer they offer is the chicken salad dip, which is so weird but awesome at the same time. Hopefully you've had chicken salad before so I don't have to explain that, but somehow Black Market makes it dip-able and not sandwich material, if that makes sense. It's served with deep fried pita bread that you can scoop it onto.

The onion rings were okay and was a little portion for the price. If you're really hungry, the nachos are a good way to go, but they aren't anything special. The Guinness burger is decent, but really nothing special and I didn't detect much of a Guinness flavor. I'm not adventurous enough to order the Trashcan burger, but friends have said you should try it at least once.

Conveniently located near a few highways, this bar is a great place to visit. They have a great beer selection and good bartenders if you want something mixed. I was here on a trivia night which was well run and packed with cool, friendly people. I didn't participate, but woulda killed it since I knew all the answers.

The place has a good vibe, and great decor. There is ample seating, both inside and out. Plus there is convenient parking right outside, so feel free to pass out in your car.

You must try the Greek Egg Rolls as an appetizer. The Rose salad is also great. Add the friendly staff and this is a must visit bar/ restaurant!!

Good place to go for a drink, go to the bar though. Extremely slow service for food, better than the no service we got from the fox and hound. Still took 2 hrs to eat dinner, Food was okay bar food.

I stumbled upon the website for Black Market while on a business trip to Birmingham. I was intrigued.

Dinner time came and I plugged the address into my GPS. Following the directions, we seemed to be getting deeper into a part of town full of business parks/office buildings. I was confused and sure the directions were wrong (sometimes I'm convinced my GPS is out to get me). However, the GPS was right, and this place was, sure enough, in a small retail area amidst the office parks.

Once inside, I was happily surprised. Good beer selection, interesting twist on 'bar food' menu, and music that brought me straight back to high school (80s alternative/new wave). A perfectly laid back comfortable atmosphere. Worth a visit!

Who goes to a bar for brunch?? Ummm I do!!

This place is an undercover hot spot, just waiting to hit.  Came here on Sunday with a large group for brunch.  We started with 10, but quickly became 20.

Service: I'm not sure how she did it, but the waitress was amazing. She handled our large table, did multiple separate checks and was very positive and happy. She was incredible! We always had fresh coffee and plenty of H20.

Drinks: $1.5 Champagne, $2 Mimosas?? Are you serious!!! Amazing!! Only bad thing is no booze until noon! Booo

Food: I heard no major complaints, only food envy!
Shrimp & Grits: This was awesome!! I had them make it spicy w/extra jalapeños -ohhh baby!!! Big shrimp, perfectly cooked grits, awesome sauce -yummmmmmy!!
French toast: perfectly cooked, a favorite of the waitress and half the table, good, not huge size portion
Breakfast pizza: big portion, nice spice
    Pancakes: very tasty, good texture

Everything came w/either grits, home fries or fruit -awesome size sides

I can't say more positive things about this place, the food was fantastic, the service was fast and excellent, cheap drinks, and they can handle large parties  --If I lived in Bama this would be my go-to spot

Joined a couple friends for brunch.  A bit disappointed---it would be so great to have a good brunch place right around the corner from home!!  The coffee was awful and the waitress wanted to charge us for refills.  I'm sorry, but any other place I've gone the coffee refills keep coming and they don't charge for each 'cup of coffee'.  Especially as bad as this coffee tasted.

The food was so-so.  We may go back and give it another try.

I have lived in Birminham now for 23 years and the service at this bar is by far the worst. I was told to leave one might because I didn't give a tip during one visit to the bar! This was my third and final trip that I had made there and while the service had always been terrible, that put and end to me ever going there. Save the hassle and go somewhere where your money is appreciated.

I like an empty, quiet bar, and Black Market on a weekday is just that. Didn't order any food, but it was nice to sip on beers outside while watching the rain. Beer prices are extremely reasonable across the board, especially if you're into trying something new. This place could easily become a new haunt.

Went here while in town for work. It was late night and this is one of the places that was still open. It was a Tuesday night so it was a little quit but I liked it. I ordered milk and the bartender kind of joked about it but he gave it too me. Apparently I wasnt the first to order milk there.

The chicken strips were amazing! Best I have ever had. That paired with the milk, it was heaven!

This is has become my neighborhood bar. Great drinks!! And not expensive at all. The bar tenders & servers are super friendly (the female ones are super hot!) and always seem to remember me. And $2 beers on Thursday nights are unbeatable! I ordered the Greek egg rolls and they were AMAZING!!!! We sat outside on the patio (with TVs), which was great! I keep going back & haven't been disappointed.

Just moved nearby and wanted to try the food out because the menu looked interesting to me and the hubby.  So when grandparents offered to watch our newborn, I decided that a bar with good food was what I wanted...thus leading us here.

This place is a local bar.  Not the nicest or cleanest place to eat but i didn't expect it to be.  We sat at a booth and noticed that there was only one guy working and he was the bartender.  So we figured we must need to order at the bar. No biggie.

This was the first time I had been out since my son was born, so I was ready fro some drinks.  I drink vodka on ice, so that can be screwed up.  But I did like that they keep their liquor chilled.

Now to the best part: the FOOD.  I was pleased!  We started with the Chicken Salad Dip which was nice and creamy served with fried pita.  WE ordered the Black Market Burger and the Maui Chicken Sandwich (which had loads of gouda cheese!).  Both of us got sweet potato fries for the side item.  Everything was cooked perfect and very tasty.

I say this is a step above "bar food."  Unique option at a reasonable price.  We will be back!

I was staying at the Springhill Suites in the area by the Black Market Bar and didn't want to go far...It is close enough to walk from the hotel and I was happily surprised when I walked in this bar.  They had great beer on draft (local) and some of the beers included Good People brewing, Sweetwater, Lazy Magnolia, Loose Cannon, Terrapin, etc.  I ordered the Maui Chicken Sandwich which had grilled honey lime chicken, bacon, pineapple, ham and gouda cheese.  It was delicious!  Try it out people!

Great food...wait staff is lame..they come off as prententious and seem to wish they were somewhere other than work. Food is really good though and the atmosphere is fun. SIT AT THE BAR. The bartenders are on top of it...

Outstanding bar, the name might say bar but this place has great food!  The feta & spinach egg rolls are great!  Ample outside seating, nice atmosphere, dog friendly.  This is my perfect neighborhood bar!
