We were in the neighborhood and my dining partner wanted sushi. Â We started with som gyoza and ordered four rolls. Â Sushi was good, as usual. Â However, service is getting a big overbearing. Â There were two waiters. Â Both would ask us the exact same question within 2 minutes of each other: Â Are you ready to order? How is your meal? Â Do you want dessert? Â It started to get almost creepy. Â It would not stop me from coming again but it made for a strange experience and was somewhat intrusive.
Review Source:It's still 5 stars, almost 5 months later. Blue Fin is my go to sushi spot when I'm in the area. I tried the classic "spicy tuna and cucumber roll" as well as the "eel avocado" ( both $4.50 each) and both are fresh and delicious. To start with I tried the baked oysters...pure awesomeness. My happy ending came with the Pink Lady Roll. Sooo good!! My daughter ended her meal with a green tea mochi. Normally the order comes with 3 mochi ($5) but she was so full that she only asked for one ($2) and our waiter accommodated. Her mochi was garnished with whipped cream and sprinkles. She's currently a happy camper. Did I mention that it's BYOB? Like I earlier stated, pure awesomeness.
Review Source:Based on the beautiful interior design of the restaurant, you'd think it to be a lot more expensive that it really is, but that wasn't the case at all. I ordered the salmon teriyaki lunch box. Fantastic!
It came with spring rolls, goyza, white rice and of course the salmon. The garlic based sauce on the salmon was excellent, the spring rolls also stood out to me. The service was excellent but most of all I was really impressed by the atmosphere of the restaurant. I can't say enough about that. Awesome lighting and a very soothing, elegant feel to the entire place in general. I will definitely be back to Bluefin!
Came for a solo lunch today and to try this place out. I was craving sushi and my craving was fulfilled. Got one of their lunch specials - 5 pcs nigiri and a roll. Got all tuna for sushi and substituted the California roll for a spicy tuna roll...for an additional price, of course! But all good! Fish was excellent! I'll definitely be back to try more of their other rolls.
Review Source:My husband and I love this place! Our kids love it too! The sushi is always fresh and prepared so well- very artistic and creative when it comes to presentations! I almost hate to destroy them when they arrive but I know the food is so good I can't help but do it! The Tom Yum Seafood Soup is SO spicy and SO good! The Coconut Curry soup is so delicious! We got a couple large containers of it one night and took it home, cooked up some chicken breast, added it to the soup and made steamed rice and it was so good! Â The place is so clean and the ambiance is wonderful- you can get a two to three roll lunch for $7-$10 and it comes with a soup and salad! The seaweed salad is wonderful! I get it every time now! I just can't begin to say enough wonderful things about this place. The owner, James, is such a nice man and runs a very lovely sushi place ! It is the only one we will go to around here!
Review Source:Blue Fin is excellent. I travel and eat sushi all over the country. This little spot is one of the best. I live locally and my wife has become a sushi lover through Blue Fin. You will find us here many Friday nights at the sushi bar. BYOB. Always fresh. More romantic atmosphere than another nearby comptetitor. They get busy sometimes now that rep is out. Cannot say enough.
Review Source:I've come here for lunch on Friday with coworkers several times and we are never disappointed. I usually get the sashimi lunch and my coworkers usually order 2 rolls (ie. philly + spicy tuna). We've tried other dishes like fried rice, bento boxes, etc. Everything I've had has been pretty good.
I do have a Floridian friend who checked this place out and thought the food was terrible. I'm not sure if the quality of food varies day to day and between lunch and dinner.
We were sick right into the next day.
We had heard good things, and had high hopes...unfortunately we were sorely disappointed. The restaurant smelled fishy, which should have been our first clue to leave. The appetizers were fine, but the sushi was horrible. The fish did not seem fresh, they lacked flavor, and the service left so much to be desired. Our waitress essentially hovered over us, watching our every move. Perhaps she was waiting to see if we were going to get sick.
I don't recommend it. I won't go back. Eat there at your own risk.
So I have driven by this place so many times and we finally had a chance to stop in. Getting to it from Southbound Rt  1 requires some clever driving(We turned and drove behind State Farm's Offices and turned south on 202, then made the left onto 1)
We walked in and were met with a charming well decorated space with a very nice selection of music that set the mood perfectly.
We were very pleased to find the table set with simple but eligant wooden chopsticks and shoyu dishes. Also nice was having low sodium shoyu at the table.
We examined the menu and decided to split an appitizer of the Sicy Tuna Dumplings. They arrived arranged on top of Guacamole of all things with a Thai Chili sauce, there was even a spoon so the guacamole and chili sauce could be placed on the dumpling before popping it into your mouth. The resulting mix of flavors was perfectly balanced.light yet pleasing.
Next came the miso and salad, both precisely the right size.
Then we had the Aquarium for two; which is a selection of sushi negri and sashimi. with a tuna maki and california maki. We don't really care for california rolls so we asked if we could get the Ginza maki (cooked salmon, onion and mayo) in it's place, it was a yummy thing.
When it arrived it was beautifully arranged with amazing cuts of fish. Some of the best maguro (tuna)that I have seen in a while, outstanding saba (mackerel), the salmon was a bright clean color, along with two other types of white fish, all arranged on shredded diakon with shizo leaves. The sushi negri was  also 5 kinds with each carefully arranged.
The service was excellent without being invasive. My only ding is that the rice was slightly on the solid side for my taste, I prefer it fluffier with more of a hint of komezu (vinegar) but I am sure that it varies with each person.
The final surprise was when the check came, the price for all of this was beyond reasonable once one sees the quality of the fish and the prep.
We will be back.
2nd time we ate here, 1st time dining in. Â I want to write a review b/c there was really no one there and this place is too good to not have the business. Â Granted it a Monday, and later. Â
Anyway - the specialty and regular rolls are tremendous, Â I recommend the Pink Lady and Godzilla roll. Â It's much better service then the old place as well.
The owner told me Bluefin had only been open for two months, so now is the best time to write reviews, especially to support the place and help its business grow.
The sushi was the best I've had in any place in the area: the freshest fish, creative rolls, and artistic presentation. They kept the hot green tea coming. The service was very good (even if a bit overbearing). The restaurant is attractively appointed with Japanese motifs. The complimentary sake is what put it over the top.
Access to the location isn't the most convenient (shopping center center on Rte 1); if you're going south on the divided road, you need to do a U'ey at the corner of Rte 1 and 202. Â
I'll be making this place a regular stop.
Food is excellent, and presentation is very beautiful. Â Nice view from lots of tables over the sushi bar, and the work the sushi chefs are doing is exquisite! Â Good pricing for great food. Â Also plenty of choice on the menu between Japanese and Thai and great for vegetarians too. Â
Would like to see the staff be a little less green concerning the menu ingredients. Â Their English is limited and asking about specifics on the menu is a bit of a challenge. Â We had a couple of allergens in our party, and that was problematic and took time to check out. Â Apart from that - delightful.
This place is a hidden gem. The food is exceptional - especially the sushi. They have a great selection of appetizers and special rolls to choose from. The owner James is always on premise and goes out of his way to ensure a positive dining experience for all guests. I would highly recommend this spot for special occasions and weekend dinner dates. Looking forward to my next visit to Blue Fin.
