Right now I'm at a 3.5*, but with a future visit at a busier time I can tell whether it's more 3 or 4*. But, I definitely did like my stop in at the Local 22 enough to consider it in the future .
I was in the area at a wine trade tasting. So, after taking a trip to the Jazz Record Mart, I made my way over to the Local 22 for a beer and something to eat. Now, I'm not gonna lie, them having been on bar rescue helped bring me in the door. I will also say that my experience here has made me want to come back.
I have no base on how it was here before, but they certainly do have a quality mid-west craft beer focus. The beer prices are what you would expect in this area of the city. Being a fan of metropolitan, it was nice to see 3 taps of their brews. Obviously I'm prefacing that with me then ordering 2 metropolitan beers.
I also got myself a quesadilla grande. Well, it was absolutely no joke on the size. I probably should've saved some for later, but it fill me up well and I didn't need anymore food than that. I was also glad that there was a decent walk back to my train stop just to walk some of it off.
The Local was a nice stop in for lunch and a beer. I don't get into river north all too often, but I would have no problem finding myself here again.
So I thought it could not get any better. GREAT and I mean GREAT creative burgers and then I tried the Reuben. Now I won't be able to eat a Rueben anywhere but Blue Frog Local. Massive and tasty, I had to take half of the sandwich home in a box. It was just as good the next day. Â Great service and friendly staff to boot makes this a regular go to spot when I am anywhere near River North.
Review Source:I can't comment on the food since I've never eaten here, but the rest is good to go!
Went on a Wednesday night with some law school friends as their class was having an event here. Karaoke was AWESOME and I loved that you didn't have to get up on a stage, you can just jam out on the dance floor and the crowd gets right in there with you. It was awesome!
Drink prices seemed fairly reasonable, and when we had a bit of an issue with the special pricing for Yelp drinks week and the law school event, the manager, Milosh came and took care of everything for us. And then, when I caught some pathetic, washed-up 40-something in the bathroom smoking, I went and told him, he kicked her stupid ass out into the blizzard, and was very thankful and apologetic. When I went to get my next drink, he took care of it for me.
Overall, this was a super fun place to hang out, and it's got a bit of a divey atmosphere that's not at all like its pretentious River North neighbors. The girl bartenders are all cool, casually dressed rocker chicks, not the pretentious girls with their boobs and butts all over the place like can be found in the other bars in the area. This bar has absolutely no attitude and it's AWESOME.
