I haven't been to BV in quite some time, but when I was this was my experience.
EXTREMELY rude bathroom attendants in the ladies bathroom! When leaving the bathroom I was asked "EXCUSE ME! Did you just use paper towel to dry your hands? That costs a dollar!". Since when does it cost money to dry your hands at a bar?
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because the music was ON POINT! Otherwise, they would only receive 1 star.
This place is funny...like hilarious funny. I've only been here a couple of times and I think that's good enough for me. Â
The club is huge, it's pretty much one big room, with a DJ and a decent sized bar. Â Considering the lights and music, I felt like I was in a 1980s East German disco. Â On that note, most of the crowd here probably can remember watching the fall of the Berlin Wall when they were in high school.
Drinks are weak, and overpriced if I remember correctly. Â I drank something blue and fruity, I guess this was my attempt to fit in. Â
The highlight of the night? Â My own mini-flashback when they played New Kids on the Block. Otherwise? No, thanks.
Being the 22 going-on-55-year-old woman that I am, a group of friends and I spent our NYE at Boogie Fever and it didn't disappoint.
$20 covered admission, a split of champagne and a PIZZA BUFFET at midnight. Sweet baby Jesus. It was a perfectly weird combo of some of my favorite things. The music was perfect (I think I suffered an excitement induced aneurism during "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"), the dance floor was packed with the slickest moves and the pizza was delicious. They had at least 10-15 different kinds of pizza and the staff was quick to replace empty pizza trays.
Even though the place was packed, the bar tenders were quick to take orders and make drinks. The drinks were tasty, but a bit on the pricey side - plus, they had a $10 card minimum and would not keep tabs open that night, which was inconvenient and a bit of a hassle. (Hence the four stars, rather than five.)
I can't wait to go back. My friends and I all agree that this was the best NYE, hands down, that we've ever had. The light-up dance floor is genius and fits the place perfectly.
Boogie Fever is the perfect place to go if you want to let loose, have a great time and not care about what other people think about you. It's basically a judgment-free zone.
***Tip: There is also a coat check for $2. Not bad! I usually walk from my house, so the cheap coat check is perfect in the winter months.
Oh, this place.
I've been here a handful of times, each time seems to get more sloppy than the last - in a good way, of course.
Here's the good: The music. It is rare to find a place that has a large dance floor and plays 70s/80s music. 98% of all of the songs played are at least danceable. It is large enough to handle a huge crowd and the douche-factor is relatively low on any given night.
Here's the bad: I'm pretty sure it's cash only and the drinks are pricey.
If you're looking to let loose in a judgement-free zone, come check out Boogie Fever. It's like the Planet Fitness of dance clubs.
Myself and a group of girlfriends wanted to check this place out several weeks ago, but when my friend asked how much the cover was, the bouncer actually said ``Well, some of you might get in, and some of you might not.`` We laughed in his face and went over to Orchid, where there is NO cover, and they had $2 you-call-its. Before we left an older guy smoking a cigarette turned to me and said "what, that guy is turning you away? It's empty in there, what the hell!!!" Not the way to get people to come to your club. I'm not sure if insulting potential customers is the norm or if this bouncer was just being a jerk, but I'll never be going here, ever.
Review Source:I've only been here once, so this might seem a bit biased and/or skewed, but I did not enjoy myself. Â It's 2012, and they don't accept credit cards. Â I understand the whole retro mentality, but come on guys - nobody pays with cash anymore. Â This is also an *older* crowd. Â As a 25 year old guy at the time, I felt like I was at a retirement party. Â If you like cougars, that's a different story, but I'm not into them. Â The drinks were expensive as well. Â I didn't really enjoy myself, but then again, I guess I could see certain people liking this place.
Review Source:You know what I like about Boogie Fever...it's not far from home, and it feels safe. Â I haven't been to a club in ages, but this took care of any hankering I had on my party to boogie down. Â The music was good, the drinks were cheap, and yet again we beet the Thanksgiving people rush. Â I hope BF never goes away!
Review Source:While walking through the billowing fog and entering the majestic and hilarious dance kingdom that is Boogie fever, there is no way to express the emotions I had. Instead I would like to share a video clip that I feel best accurately describes the moment. I hope this works..

Those might even be the exact dance moves I mimicked, but only because all bets were off in this joint. It is this perfect world where it is just silly enough that everyone seems to let loose, except for a handful of men who appear to be practicing to one day be bodyguards there! Yes there are quite a few wallflowers, drink in hand with arms crossed, waiting for their time to strike but don't take yourself or them seriously and you'll be just fine. Disco ball, light up dance floor, cheese perfection! I really had a blast and was so glad my out-of-towner friends ended up here with me towards the death of our crawl. Drinks were strong-ish albeit somewhat pricey. If that is a set back make sure to preparty and you can show up early to have the cover charge waived.
I've never been to anyplace like Boogie Fever, and I'm certain I have not had my fill!
I went to Boogie Fever with a small group of my girlfriends on a Friday night. We chose to come here over another bar because we knew they would have more dancing than the place we were at before. The night we went wasnt too crowded and we were able to have a place on the dance floor. The cover charge was like $6 which was great. We really enjoyed ourselves especially dancing to the 80s music. The whole place is a tad cheesy but overly. I would definitely go again.
Review Source:Our visit to this place was after a 12 year hiatus from clubs. LOL I was hitting a transitional age and wanted to celebrate with friends. I love music and love to dance. I didn't want to go somewhere, where I would be hanging with a too young of a crowd (this place definitely met that criteria) LOl.
My club days were spent in Miami, Tampa...so, I had a totally different expectation of "club", this did not fit that expectation. It's small! And had absolutely NO FLAIR! The drinks were off the chart expensive and no service! It was crazy. We had about 8 people in our party and all we could find for seating were these lil itty bitty tables to stand by. We tried pushing two tables together and we were told by management that we couldn't do that. I swear they had 1 girl working the whole floor...and she wasn't happy!. If I were working in a service place and my cash flow depended on tips, I would be pouring on the sugar, smiling like I just won the lottery and making ya as drunk as I could get ya (because I know that when I'm under the influence, I tip a lot more...) We saw her maybe 2 times during our 3 hour visit. I think we had to belly up to the bar at one point...I'm glad that we got there before they start charging a cover. I wouldn't have said it was worth the cover-charge.
So, those were the negative thoughts and here's what I loved about Boogie Fever. The music was fun and the DJ did a good job at mixin the tunes. There was even the occasional current top 40 pumped through the speakers. The sound was perfect. I LOVED the mix of the people coming into the club. You had a diverse group of people coming together to enjoy music and dancing. Every type of attire seemed to fit. There were cowboys (in his 80's), leather, stripper wear, 70's/80's throwback, jeans w/sweaters-t-shirts...LOVED it!
It was a fun night, but I'm thinking for the next big girls night out we will have to find an alternative establishment.
Me and a small group had the chance to party here on NYE 2011 and had a blast - or at least I know I had a blast! We arrived as the doors opened to get good seats which I recommend unless you prefer standing through the night. At 9pm the line was only 30 people deep.
The service was great, the champagne toast was fine and the pizza buffet was not too chaotic. BTW the pizza was really good for night club pizza. They also added a photo booth which you can only imagine was  a ton of fun after a few drinks with friends. Party favors were aplenty and supplied by the house and the music was a great mix. I'd recommend the NYE party at the Fever for sure - it was only $25 for pre-door tickets.
I used to live in ferndale years ago. I only came here once during the year i lived in Ferndale.
From my memory this place is a riot. They demand that people follow their dress code.
This is a cougar playground. It's just f'ing hilarious.
Place is really huge. Drinks are decently priced. Reminds me of a prom. There's a huge dance floor in the middle of the room and cougars hide in the corners. Eventually someone dances; but everyone ends up staring.
Cover is a bit pricey for the "old views".
Yes!!!!!!!
I finally got to check this off my Ferndale bucketlist. Â It felt like being at a bar mitzvah in 1992: 1970s music, bad mixed drinks, and overly made up women dancing like Elaine Bennes. Â
If you are a middle aged guy in a half-open shirt who doesn't like to dance but loves staring at women with a drink in your hand, you will fit in.
But if you ever find yourself in the company of several nurses who love to dance, there is no better place to boogie in Ferndale.
My friends and I decided to go here for a fun night of dancing a couple weeks before Christmas. Two of them had already been there, but it was new to most of us. Luckily I was prepared to have to use the ATM, but I'm always a tad bit annoyed that places in this day and age don't accept credit/debit cards.
The atmosphere was very clubby, and I really like the lights they had for their pre-Christmas celebrations. Continuous music videos add to the appeal and give you some wonderful dance moves!
There was a very diverse crowd, which of course included a few creepy old men. I went on a Saturday, but I'm really considering going out on Cougar Night cause I hear it's pretty awesome. I am never too phased by the crowd as long as I'm there with a good group of friends. We can have fun pretty much anywhere, but especially if they have good music.
Drinks were a tad on the expensive side for the amount of alcohol in them. On the upside, they were quite tasty. We went early so we didn't have to pay cover. I recommend that if you don't mind hanging around and chatting a bit before the music gets louder and people really start dancing.
All in all, I had a fun night and plan on going back at some point.
Boogie Fever is amazing!! I don't usually like going to clubs but this was by far the best one I have ever been to! Fantastic music and a great crowd! Playing Techno & Industrial, DJ - 80s & New Wave, Rock & Pop, Disco, DJ - Disco. Cover Charge $7.00 Per person, Coat Check $3.00, Drinks average $5.00.
EPILEPSY WARNING: Â Some people are susceptible to epileptic seizures or loss of consciousness when exposed to certain flashing lights or light patterns as this place has flashing disco lights every second. If you have Epilepsy or you think you have Epilepsy don't enter this establishment.
People watching. Come here if you have some extra dollar bills and you love people watching. Especially on a Friday night. Especially on a Cougar night Friday night. Its fucking epically fantastic.
That aside, I got there before 9 and didn't pay cover. That let them keep another star. Besides that, the place is open but getting from the main bar to the bathrooms can prove to be a pain in the ass. Drinks are basically like having that really tall, 6'5" bouncer bend you over and have his prison way with you. $4.50 for a Bud Light? I'd expect it to come with a can of Red Bull or a handjob. Holy hell. I didn't even wanna ask what a Long Island cost, but by my mathmagics, $6.50. Wowie wow wow WOW! Also, for the night I was there (Friday, Cougar Night!! raarrrrr) it was pretty fantastic.
However, the people watching made up for it. I was thoroughly amused for the full 4 hours I was there and we plan on going back, but drinking before hand and bringing extremely limited cash. If you have the cash and love watching the interactions of people who normally don't interact, this is your place.
I've been to Boogie Fever a few times and, well, I think it's very overrated. You can expect to pay $7 to get in the door, pay $3 or so for coat check, and the weak drinks are easily $7-8+. It attracts a pretty diverse crowd, though older, and seems to be popular for birthdays and bachelor/bachelorette parties. They do play a decent mix of music, you'll hear just about everything. Their bathrooms are dirty and they have an attendant that expects tips. They do not accept credit cards, so bring quite a bit of cash with you or pay big fees using their ATM. If you're a guy who likes cougars, then I'd recommend it.
Review Source:Boogie Fever is always a great time with a group of friends. Â I went there on New Years eve this year, and every person enjoyed themselves- the service was quick and friendly, the music was entertaining, and the place had very cool new years celebration decorations-It was a perfect way to start the new year. Â However, when we purchased tickets on line, we were told that a champagne toast was included, with pizza later in the evening. Â Nobody knew where to find the champagne, and once I did, it was all gone. Â Also, a few of my friends waited in line for pizza, and there was none left. Â That was a little disappointing.
Review Source:Firstly, I just want to say that this place does NOT accept credit or debit. They have an ATM by the coat check, and the bars only take cash.
This club is pretty hit or miss, music and crowd wise.
The song list can either be techno versions of old 70's songs, which I dislike, or takes the best from 80's pop, which is gold to me (Depeche Mode, Tears For Fears, Michael Jackson, Ultravox, Dead Or Alive, Madonna, Journey, XTC, Peter Gabriel, A Flock Of Seagulls, New World Order etc, all the biggies).
The crowd is usually mixed between 21-mid 40's, though you will see a few people who are even well into their 70's on occasion.
It's hit or miss between attractive cougars, ti over the hill mothers, to trashy college kids.
Drinks are overpriced and and bottom shelf quality. Not even one decent beer available, and the best hard liquor you can expect is Stoli and Jose Cuervo. Not to mention it's 8 bucks a drink in a plastic cup full of ice.
If you want to go out, don't care about drinking, want a different music playlist in a cheap atmosphere (with a cover charge btw) and dance on a lighted platform, this is great.
If you want to be with a classier crowd, get your money's worth with your drinks in a more refined atmosphere, avoid at all costs
Quite the experience, to say the least. Drinks were a little over priced compared to other -- arguably classier -- Ferndale establishments. Music was great for dancing, crazy dance floor. Obviously geared for an older crowd, but Boogie Fever is worth a visit. I spent 3 hours dancing with friends and really just enjoying myself. Cover was $7, credit cards are not accepted, but there is an ATM inside the club. I will definitely come back to unwind and dance.
Review Source:Who can resist running to the lit up dance floor when you hear that oh so familiar voice singing out "Don't Stop 'till you get Enough"?
Ok, So there are hundreds of cougars in tacky clothes and old men dancing way to aggressively with them, but hey, they want to re-live their younger years while you want to pretend you are at studio 54 in the 70's too you know?
The crowd is extremely eclectic..from 45 plus y/o cougars hitting on D Bag College guys in Ed Hardy T's to Bachellorette parties to the gays; You are sure to witness all walks of life. Just watch out for some of the younger "classy" ladies, they can be very unfriendly bitches.. even if you are male and don't like the ladies...
The waitstaff is friendly and drinks are moderately priced.
If you love dancing (especially on a light up dance floor) and some good old classic disco, 80's and early 90's..... AND you want to get in some excellent people watching, this is your spot.
I've been here once...
It's not that I have anything against the place, but I'm convinced that Ferndale is just not the right town for a dance club. Granted, this place has been around for more than a few years, but it just didn't suit my soul. (Even though the whole boogie aspect includes "soul" in the general sense?) Ferndale, to me, seems to work best under the guise of coffee shops, vintage clothing stores and drink-til-you-drop watering holes.
Boogie wasn't a bad place to grab a couple drinks and dance. The DJs seem to have a good sense of humor about the whole disco deal - it wasn't just disco, it was a whole cacophony of dancey tunes. Lynne mentioned Madonna. They played "Hung Up," which is about as disco as you need to get.
Drinks were middle of the road in price and mix. The mixed drink I had wasn't as watered down as a WAB drink, but not a whole hell of a lot better either.
I'd suggest this place if you're looking to get your groove on. If you're looking to get some drinking done, run across the street to Danny's Irish Pub. That's where the drinking happens.
OK.... before I start... let me just warn you... I'm not the "going out" kind of girl!
So I went here one night with my friends and family (GIRLS NIGHT) plus my little brother (he's 23). We had a good time, although I was a little confused. I thought the guy I was dancing with was more gay then bi... so we're dancing and he's doing the whole Madonna "Vogue" thing... we're grooving... having a good time.... then I find out later that he's SO FAR from being gay... LOL... damper because I let him touch my bum :-( Â *smile*
Anyhow, the men were a little more aggressive then I'd like... but overall it was just nice getting out the house. Would I go there again? Maybe, but it wouldn't be my FIRST choice.
