Stopped by here yesterday with the Mrs. to get a quick bite to eat before heading home. Â We got there just in time for the opening so we were the first in.
As a former Staten Islander, I am always looking for a sports bar to watch some games. Â I found this place on my Yelp app and thought they were actually related to the NFL Mannings. Â I was informed by the bartender that the name came from the owner's grandparents who were actual bootleggers back in the day.
We started off with drinks, the wife had the Angry Orchard Hard Cider, and I tried the Shock Top pale ale which is one of about 16 beers on tap. Â They also have about 20 bottled beers and does anyone remember Pabst Blue Ribbon in a can?
They opened about 4 years ago and is located right before the Goethals Bridge on Forest Avenue. Â They have about 6 TVs to watch the games, an outdoor patio with 6 or 7 picnic tables so you can enjoy your beer and food outside. Â For other entertainment they have some video games, pool table and my favorite, air hockey game from my younger days. :)
They run specials during game days and have ladies night on Thursday with Karaoke. Â They also have a DJ during the weekends.
To eat, we tried the fried grilled cheese sticks with spicy mayo and the Philly Cheesesteak wrap. Â Both were good and filling.
Will definitely come back to watch some Sunday football games in the near future.
Because of the distance from my area on Staten Island, this is usually the last resort bar. Â When we do head out here, we have fun. Â Sometimes it is dead, sometimes it is packed. Â Mixed crowds. Â The drinks are moderately priced and they have a decent selection. Â Right off the highway, has a parking lot. Â Sometimes has live bands, sometimes has the juke box running.
You can get a styrofoam cup o beer here, and that is fantastic.
Great family owned bar that offers a large selection of beers and liquer to an awesome menu. $1 hot dogs and hamburgers during the games and open bar specials for your favorite teams game. Outdoor area for smoking and live music thurs, Friday, and Saturday. Karaoke on thurs nights and DJs on the weekend that are very open to all requests of any genre of music. The music is always different to please everyone's taste from the oldies to hip-hop and reggae. The bathrooms have been renovated and painted. Also I think they are the only bar with an air hockey table. Pretty cool.
