Stopped by here yesterday with the Mrs. to get a quick bite to eat before heading home. Â We got there just in time for the opening so we were the first in.
As a former Staten Islander, I am always looking for a sports bar to watch some games. Â I found this place on my Yelp app and thought they were actually related to the NFL Mannings. Â I was informed by the bartender that the name came from the owner's grandparents who were actual bootleggers back in the day.
We started off with drinks, the wife had the Angry Orchard Hard Cider, and I tried the Shock Top pale ale which is one of about 16 beers on tap. Â They also have about 20 bottled beers and does anyone remember Pabst Blue Ribbon in a can?
They opened about 4 years ago and is located right before the Goethals Bridge on Forest Avenue. Â They have about 6 TVs to watch the games, an outdoor patio with 6 or 7 picnic tables so you can enjoy your beer and food outside. Â For other entertainment they have some video games, pool table and my favorite, air hockey game from my younger days. :)
They run specials during game days and have ladies night on Thursday with Karaoke. Â They also have a DJ during the weekends.
To eat, we tried the fried grilled cheese sticks with spicy mayo and the Philly Cheesesteak wrap. Â Both were good and filling.
Will definitely come back to watch some Sunday football games in the near future.
Because of the distance from my area on Staten Island, this is usually the last resort bar. Â When we do head out here, we have fun. Â Sometimes it is dead, sometimes it is packed. Â Mixed crowds. Â The drinks are moderately priced and they have a decent selection. Â Right off the highway, has a parking lot. Â Sometimes has live bands, sometimes has the juke box running.
You can get a styrofoam cup o beer here, and that is fantastic.
Great family owned bar that offers a large selection of beers and liquer to an awesome menu. $1 hot dogs and hamburgers during the games and open bar specials for your favorite teams game. Outdoor area for smoking and live music thurs, Friday, and Saturday. Karaoke on thurs nights and DJs on the weekend that are very open to all requests of any genre of music. The music is always different to please everyone's taste from the oldies to hip-hop and reggae. The bathrooms have been renovated and painted. Also I think they are the only bar with an air hockey table. Pretty cool.
Review Source:The food is perfect, the drinks are cheap, and the employees care. What else matters?
They just had a huge party there this weekend on Thursday and the place was packed with nice people I don't think anyone even yelled. The bathrooms are the cleanest in any bar that I have been to on the Island which is very important to my girlfriend and me.
Love this bar!! Huge 50 ft bar, 16 taps great selection of both domestic and imported beer as well as top shelf liquor. Tons of Tvs so you can watch any game/ sport you want just ask the bartender. Â Great staff, fun and attractive bartenders. Plenty of space to move around, dance without being on top of other patrons. DJs every weekend (friday and saturday nights) occasional bands, Karaoke every thursday night. Great deals during football/ baseball seasons (30 dollar open bar for the length of the game top shelf included!!). Outdoor gated space so you can enjoy your drinks and cigarettes (if you smoke) outside! Beer pong tables, new pool table, old school video game machines, dart boards! just all around fun in a huge atmosphere. A bit off the beaten path (end of forest right by the goethals bridge), but always a good time! Plus kitchen is open till 12am (wings, steak on a stick, ribbon chips, philly cheesesteak and pizza are my personal faves). oh and did I mention the $5 quart domestic beer (can't beat that!) Happy Hour buy one, get one (mon-fri 4-8pm)
Review Source:This place is borderline a Public Safety Hazard and its recommended to be inspected by the State for numerous and obvious violations to public health. Bathrooms are extremely dirty and lack sufficient cleanliness and lack of paper towel or hand drying. Seen food prepared but left on non prep kitchen sink and exposed to flies. Service from bar was spotty with workers constantly seen outside smoking cigarettes with long wait times. Tables dirty with just loud music which forces guests to scream louder to have a decent conversation. There are much better places in parity with same/better prices and with a better experience. No Wow factor with this establishment. A lot of work is needed to be a contender.
Review Source:Always very loud..
It can be empty.. and someone it will still be to loud to bare.
They seem to have some kind of contract that forces them to hire the worst cover bands the island has to offer.. Just miserable.. Â If you come hear you will wish you were Marlee Matlin
It usually is crowded with a who's who of people from your past you would rather not bump into.. It is like clockwork.. Â No matter who you are, if you come here you will bump into someone form your past that would rather it stay that way.
they do have a pool table.. however it might be the worst one in the world... it is always a dirty sticky mess.. at times you will think you are in fresh kills..
If you can bare all of that the drink prices are not that bad... and the bouncers are good people.. So to each is own..
So as  fellow yelpers said, this place really is what you make of it.
If you bring  some friends I'm sure you'll have a good time. A great place to watch the game, and they have a pool table also. I stopped in in a wednesday and the had this great dj, but the only thing I found funny was he was playing club music ehich I personally don't mind, but the majority if the crowd there didnt really seem like the fist pumping type.
Overall, not a bad place just not an awesome place.
$6 cover....$5 drink coupon....= $1 cover. Â Â the beers here are HUGE!!! Â there's usually a live band playing on the weekends and the place is pretty big. Â There's a small outside area that's fenced in for smokers and people wanting "fresh" air. Â The crowd varies from the college types to locals. Â The beers come in 2 sizes....human size and Jolly Green Giant size. Â either way, you're probably not spending more than $5 for the beer. Â Check it out if you're into making your hands feel inadequately small and you're extra thirsty.
Review Source:You won't find  more screens than Bootleg Mannings.  They show all the games and will put yours on if you ask.  The beer is $5 a QUART and they have dollar burgers and dogs during YANKEES and METS games. They even have a bar-sized pool table and they book great bands.  They are a little off the beaten path but well worth the visit.  They have a deck where you can go to smoke with picnic tables and umbrella benches.  BTW, they have Quick Draw so you can play if you want to.
