My boyfriend and I came to this location on a Saturday night for drinks and we were disappointed. Â It was after 11 and we decided to sit outside. Â There were maybe two other tables with people at them and no one ever came to ask us if we needed anything. Â We got our drinks at the bar when we got there and once we went outside not one server checked on us. Â We were there for 45 minutes and I really couldn't believe that we received no service. Â We finished our one drink and left. Â We would have probably ordered food if someone had come to check on us, but because they didn't I have no idea what the food is even like. Â The restaurant wasn't even that busy. Â I probably will not be going back.
Review Source:Boston's seems to be having an identity crisis. Â Yelp calls it Boston's Restaurant & Sports Bar, as do half of the signs at the store. Â The other half say Boston's Gourmet Pizza. Â I think this means that they failed to be a pizza place and are trying a reboot as a sports bar. Â Whatever.
We asked to sit on the patio, and were pointed through the smoke-filled bar (yech!). Â The patio was lovely, but we had few choices of where to sit because three of the tables had not been bussed. Â About five minutes after seating ourselves, we were presented with water and a menu.
The husband had a pizza, which he pronounced a little better than average, but not special. Â I had the Mediterranean salad, which was good, though it had a little too much dressing and definitely too much bread. Â I would eat it again, but ask for half of the bread.
Service was spotty. Â My impression was that there were too few servers on the floor.
Boston's strikes me as a place that I would go again if I could not think of anything else, or had no other choice. Â But they're nothing special, and the competition down the road (Twin Peaks) wipes the floor with Boston's on the sports bar score.
I like that this place separates the bar scene from the dining room area so if you're not feeling the smoke you can still enjoy yourself on the other side that's more quiet. It has good happy hour specials and has tvs playing inside and out on the patio. I went with a few people on a weekday and sat out on the patio because of the smoke, but the server took forever to come out to check on us and would walk off before we could finish our order. It made me feel like she had something else better to do and was rushing us even though I'm sure that wasn't the reason. I love the spinach & artichoke dip. They offer a variety of plates and offers tastey low-cal plates. The salmon salad is pretty amazing too
Review Source:I am giving this establishment a generous rating of 2 for the sole reason that the pizza we got was better than what I had initially expected. That being said I will say that the absent remaining three stars is a reflection of the extremely unattentive service. My boyfriend and I self sat ourselves at one of the tables in the bar area, hoping to get a quick late night snack and a few beers. Ten minutes later we had neither, nor had we seen anyone with any intent of providing us with menus. Under the circumstance that the bar was busy we would have been a bit more understanding, however this was not the case. My boyfriend took it upon himself to order our beers from the bartender, and when he inquired about getting a bite to eat, the bartender replied " that's not my area". The bartender then summoned our server over to our table, who was clustering around the other side of the bar, socializing with other employees. At this point we are hungry and frustrated, and rather than apologizing or even offering us friendly service, our server was rude and made it seem as though our presence was an inconvenience to her . Needless to say, we will not be returning to this Boston's location and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Review Source:Pretty decent place. They have very good salads and their pizza looks good, I have never tried it. Service has always been terrific. They have a great weekday lunch menu as well.
I have ordered their chicken caesar and mediterranean salad. Both are exceptional.
Great place to go for a quick workweek lunch.
I recently visit Boston's as a First Timer for a lunch outing with coworkers. Â I am one of those who pledged new year, new beginnings. Â Since I'm working on improving my eating habits (ie I love to eat) and pizza is my Kryptonite, I stumbled in with anxiety, wondering if I would be able to administer strong self control. Â I immediately ordered the Cranberry and Spinach salad, with grilled chicken, among a party of 10 who were gnawing down various pizza dishes. Â However, it was amazingly good and filling even though I got the starter size. Â And their salad menu is very impressive. Although I can't say that I wished there was at least some breadsticks or something. Â The service was sufficient for the size of the group during lunch hour, and I would go back.
Review Source:This place is kind of expensive for the mediocrity. They have a few good items on the menu, especially the Bacon Wrapped Steak Skewers, get them cooked medium or medium well and enjoy. I also do enjoy their pizza. It's not the best pizza ever, and it's definitely not gourmet, but still very  enjoyable. Service is always okay, nothing to rave about. I always sit in a booth, not in the bar area, and I generally enjoy the atmosphere. It is usually pretty quiet, even on a Friday or Saturday night.
Review Source:You know I have been to better places. No in Boston's defense, I was drunk when I came here. The waiter took forever and didn't seem very nice. I liked there flavored shots in they are only 3 bucks! They have some really cheap drinks and there pizza is not that bad. But if I have a chance to go somewhere else. I would.
Review Source:Well me and my friend go to Bostons pretty much about 4 times a week. I live in the Irving/Las Colinas area so out of all the other restaurants this one is by far my favorite. I always start it out with their chips n salsa, which are amazing because there handmade and hot and fresh every order.
There beer prices are pretty good, your looking at $2.25 a draft beer. Now a huge plus for me (being a smoker) is that you can smoke inside/outside and nobody bothers you to step 100 ft from the building.
Every time I go I want to try something different but always end up ordering one of their pizzas. I mainly go with the flatiron ones which i find amazing. As they have many different styles, pretty much for anyone.
Service is nothing less than perfect every time I go so yes Bostons is my "go to" spot in the Irving area. Good job guys and keep up the good work!
A few weeks ago, GF and I decided to go to Boston's for a drink and some appetizers. It was a nice evening and we wanted to sit on the patio and relax. We both have grown to love some of their appetizer menu items, so we were excited.
We walked in and the hostess told us that the patio was self-seating. No problem. We picked a table. We waited on someone to come take our order, ask if we wanted a drink...all of the regular questions from wait staff. We waited. We waited. We waited. Finally, after 20 minutes of waiting (they weren't crowded), I went inside and asked the bartender to send a waiter/waitress out for us. He said okay. We waited and waited for another 20 minutes. Still, no waiter/waitress. Finally, I went back to the hostess' booth and there was a very friendly (and attractive) supervisor standing there. I told her that we had been waiting for 40 minutes with no wait staff to tend to our needs. She couldn't believe it. She immediately came to our table and told us that we could order (2) appetizers and (2) desserts on the house. This is why I still give Boston's 4 stars. She did a GREAT job making sure she made it up to dissatisfied customers and we were quickly satisfied again. We stuffed ourselves full with our fave apps for free and made sure to leave a very generous tip. I forgot what her name was, but she had a beautful Russian accent and brilliant customer service skills. Her service is the reason I still consider Boston's one of my fave places to chill and eat appetizers....and drink cold beer :-)
I've been back a few times since my first visit in September last year.  And, again, it's a 3.5 star experience. This spot surely receives mixed reviews, ranging from 1-4 stars.  I must drop in on  them on really good days :)
As always, I sit in the nice bar area.  Just dying to spend an afternoon on that huge patio, but Mother Nature has not been cooperative of late.  But one day, I'll  hit Boston's on a 70 degree day with my book and a brew (or two).
Service on my visits has been exemplary; couldn't have been improved upon; attentive to drink refills, checking to see how I liked my meal, by friendly enthusiastic servers. Â What more could one ask for?
It's a pizza spot, right? Â So on one visit I order a custom Flatbread pizza with Italian Sausage, Tomatoes, Spinach, and Caramelized Onions. Â It was simply delicious!
The crust was crispy thin (not Eno's thin but good), sauce & cheese was plentiful, and the toppings were very generous. The Flatbreads are  their version of thin crust and they do it well.  Yumalicious!
Another visit, the Fish Tacos caught my eye. They were perfectly prepared along with a nice presentation. Â Two lightly beer battered large pieces of fish (I think Tilapia) in warm, soft flour tortillas, with the Baja Slaw, was more than an ample serving. Â . Â Accompaniments of creamy tasty black beans with Feta Cheese on top, and the Chipotle Aioli Sauce completed this scrumptious meal. Â Would definitely order these again.
Again, their HH prices are the bomb. Â I am usually there around 1500 and folks start streaming in around this time to enjoy a few brews or cocktails.
As to the food prices, many items are in the $9-10 range which I find to be pretty darn reasonable. Â Yes, as other reviewers state, some food options do appear to be a little on the high side, but one does have choices. Â
I'll be back for sure as I am in Irving once every week; I just really like this friendly, comfortable spot that serves up great service and better than average calories!!
OK, this place gets all the starts because of the great drink prices, great patio, and the great service from the bartender. However:
Trash was overflowing from the can in the bathroom onto the floor, no one seemed to notice or care, napkins on the floor under bar stools. Dirty tables that stayed dirty for about twenty minutes before someone came to clean them. The manager sneezed very loudly (gross) into his hand, right next to me (Id just gotten my not so great pizza) twice! He did not go to the dirty bathroom to do it, nor did he go wash his hands afterward, because God forbid he miss something on the TV.
Later, he came back to make more TV comments and sneezed into his hand AGAIN, ( still eating our crappy food, but eating none the less) however this time he thought he'd be classy and grab a wad of beverage napkins to wipe his disgusting hand on, which he then balled up and put in his pocket. Ugh.
After that third run in with him, we barely were able to finish the blah deluxe(overpriced) pizza I ordered, and the bowl of Cajun pasta/chicken mess my friend ordered. Â One thing that does seem pretty spiffy is that you can order a half order of pasta stuff if you decided you don't want a whole order.
All in all I'd go back to this place, but on a full stomach, ready to take in some TV, and have a great happy hour, because everything else they offer isn't worth it.
Gourmet? Not too sure about that...
Ordered a pizza for pickup not too long ago...they had it ready on time and were very friendly. No complaints there.
The pizza sauce is very odd...I can't really describe how it tastes other than it should NOT be used as a pizza sauce. It has a bold flavor, but again, not the kind of bold that belongs on a pizza.
I don't see myself returning...
This place symbolizes comfort food to me. The people are nice. The food is fun and easy. It's a fun date, and an easy pick. I would come here more often if it weren't for the price. But for drinks after the theater in Irving, or a romantic evening getaway, it's perfect.
The thin crust pizzas are my favorite. I've had them several times. In fact, I have not had a bad pizza here ever. I have read the other reviews, and I must admit, I have only had pizzas here.
The stars come down because of price and calories. I simply can't justify an 800 calorie personal size pizza, no matter how good it is.
PS. If you ever meet someone from Corporate (here in Dallas), ask them for a business card!!! All their business cards are coupons for a free pizza and soda. I just met their caterer networking the other day, and I thought it was a genius idea for a business card. Very cool!
Tried the Flat Iron Flatbread off their special menu insert... and longed for a Boston's in Michigan! Â Crispy flatbread covered in a nice amount of melted cheese, slices of flat iron steak (tender and slightly pink), marinated fresh mushrooms (garlic buttery), green onions and a hint of blue cheese over top. Â The crust to topping ratio was almost perfect to let you pick up each slice to eat. Â I was shocked it was so good!
If this special had not been available I would have gotten the Ultimate Mushroom Flatbread, which has a mushroom pesto base and then is covered in more mushrooms. Â Yum.
Very loud and busy (went during Friday lunch), but friendly, consistent service from my waiter.
Being the only bar/grill place within a close proximity to home that was packed. Trust me I looked around. The service was okay, there was several times when we were in need of refills however the food wasn't bad. I ordered the wings in Baby Ray's BBQ sauce & crispy green bean fries. The wings were smothered in sauce which I didn't like but I really enjoyed the crispy green bean fries, the sauce wasn't that good though.
Anyway they serve Pepsi so usually I wouldn't like it.
Best happy hour ever! I love this place, and my co-workers and I come here all the time for lunch and happy hour. Very reasonably priced beer and the best appetizers!
I definitely recommend their fried green beans with chipotle ranch, yum! Also, their fried ravioli are delicious.
If you're a pizza person they have brick oven baked pizzas with a large variety of options! They are all the perfect size to share between a couple of friends over beer!!
This is definitely the most popular place in the area for happy hour so hit it right at 5:30 or prepare for standing room only in the bar or out on the patio. Just FYI, smoking is allowed and its always pretty thick for those with asthma!
The only other place in the area to stay open until 2am so i decided to check it out one late night and was by myself so I never know but met a lot of really nice people
Drinks were not that expensive
I also went one Sunday during sports and it was enjoyable. Â I got the steak salad that was one of the yummier steak salads I have had esp for this type of place.
Okay, I forgot the bartenders name but he worked Friday Night with dark hair - nice looking - anyway, he makes the BEST cosmo EVER - I am very picky and have millions of them he defiantly gets one star of his very own. Â HE ROCKS
The atmosphere is clean and fun with a patio as well
Didnt go there expecting real Italian Pizza, but expected above average.Came out as Average pizza. They have a few healthy options. My friend ordered one of those and we had the laugh of the day, we know how these chains make thier healthy options as bland as it gets, because the Equation of these chains for flavour  is salt sugar and fat, not herbs and spices as in real cuisine. The waitress bought creole chicken grilled which we requested spicy  this way_____ THEY PUT SOME EXTRA CAJUN SPICE POWDER FROM THEIR JAR ON TOP____, OH MY!!!!
Obviosly there is no cook in the kitchen.
They seem to only employ good looking blondes, who start their ready made talk  right away as in all American chains.
Other than that clean place good for kids and such!
Despite being a chain of restaurants, I don't have a problem with coming to Boston's to watch the game and have a couple of drinks with friends. The glasses of beer are big; so that's certainly a reason to visit in itself!
For being a chain, the pizza really isn't that bad. I am actually a fan of the pepperoni and plain cheese pizzas. A plain pepperoni pizza is about $8 -- with the cheese pizza being slightly less (individually sized). Moreover, the service at this particular location is efficient and friendly.
This is one of those restaurants I go due to the location rather than the quality of food. As this is located on the way to my golf course, Boston's is a good place for me to grab a beer or two after golf.
They have several specialty pizzas that you don't see at the Domino's, but nothing so amazing. The service is pretty good. One day, when their diet coke tasted somewhat funky, they not only gave me a new drink, but also went through the trouble of changing the hose of the dispenser to correct the issue.
I don't recommend sitting near the door when it is cold outside. Despite the double door, the tables near the entrance can get very chilly.
"Gourmet" is definitely a stretch!
Surprised to walk in and find a smoky bar. Those are getting to be rare these days. I don't usually care much, but  my BFF (or since I was 4 years old at least), Shake-A-Spear, preferred to sit out in the dining room. Probably best. Neither one of us had reeking clothes and could easily go home to the wives.
We ordered a large with pepperoni and jalapeno (a few olives on there we didn't order) and had a some Shiners and caught up on our most recent adventures. I can't say the pizza was amazing, but it was OK. Â Think maybe slightly fresher DiGiorno's. Yeah that's not a ringing endorsement is it? Well it was close to where we were doing Christmas shopping and they had beer and come on, really, how bad is bad pizza? Shake-a-Spear went home with half of it, and I have a feeling it will be very decent COLD tomorrow morning.
Nowhere near the level of BJ's pizza last night. I have to recommend them over Boston's any day.
Service was OK. Seemed a little green and surprised we were drinking beer and suggested waters. Yeah, I thought it was odd too. But whatever. We got our beers.
I came here 1 night just to have a beer and it turns out a company started playing poker there. So I decided to play and it turns out poker will be there for a few more weeks. They play every Wednesday night at 7pm and again at 9-930pm. On each round if you can win gift cards to Boston's if you come in the top 3 of each session. The gift card amounts will be determined based on how many people show up to play. Normally it is $5.00 for third, $10.00 for second and $20.00 for first place. At the end of the 8 weeks they will have a final session for the top 10 point getter's and they will play for Cowboy tickets, poker table tops and chips w/case. The person that runs it is pretty cool.
Usually the bartender that comes back to the poker area is Chase. He is cool and always remembers what I drink. The drink specials are from 4-7pm on those days that we play poker. Everyone should come and check it out. Fun Times.
It was late. Â All the good places were closed. Â Having never been to Boston's, methinks, "Hey there's lot of cars at this place, maybe that means it's OK." Oh how I have so much more to learn in life. Â I can't speak for the pizza, as I got the buffalo wings and a burger. Â It was quite possibly the WORST meal I have ever had at any restaurant. Â The wings were undercooked and still had that little bit of blood in them. Â I almost ralphed. The burger was so gritty and chewy with chunks of fat that I couldn't even eat it. Â Is there a 0 star option? Dreadful. Â I almost had to go home and pop a prozac I was so depressed about this meal.
Review Source:If you sit in the bar area and start getting comfortable with your waiter/waitress, they start ignoring you.  If you sit in the dining room area and you get a waiter, he will horse around in the kitchen with his buddies and forget your appetizer. and other items  This is all too familiar with my friends and I.  We used to frequent this place for sporting events and such.  Not anymore.  Buffalo Wild Wings next door isn't any better. This will come in another review.
Their pastas are less than OK as is their pizza. Â I don't remember any time where I actually thought "WOW this place is awesome!" Â Their drink specials are always the same: $2 Blue Moons. Â One thing I do like about their food is their nachos. Â If you want drinks, go to the bar and order them. Â If you want food, whataburger is down the street or even McDonald's that is diagonally across from Boston's.
I wrote in one time and whoever responded to my email said "Oh your waiter was probably having an off night. Sorry about the inconvenience. Here is a $50 gift card for your trouble." Â Even after going back with a bunch of friends and spending the gift card, we got the same poor service so I just gave up altogether.
Are you sitting down? Â Because what I'm about to say WILL shock you.
I went to a chain restaurant and...it was mediocre! Â I know, I know. Â Shocking.
I've been to Boston's a handful of times and have only been REALLY annoyed once when I called to confirm their happy hour prices...only to arrive and find out the jerk on the phone had flat out LIED. Â Carnage ensued.
This place usually has edible food and isn't horrendous. Â I enjoy the atmosphere (wonderful patio) and the service is average. Â What I have noticed, however, is that Boston's will miss the mark on at least one aspect of your meal.
The Boston's Chicken Salad is tasty, but my grilled chicken was a little dry and tastless save for the dressing I drowned it in. Â The Fuzz's Italian trio had limp lasagna with tons of cheese and MIA sauce. Â The sauce on the Chicken Parmeasan was also MIA, and a bowl-on-the-side had to be requested. Â
I remember liking the pizza about a year ago, but last time I had the chicken Parmeasan pizza with a HORRIBLE, tasteless crust! Â Bread is very important to me, and when it doesn't taste like its butter content will go Straight to my buttocks, I'm not interested. Â
The Fried Ravoli appetizer and the fried cheesecake are delicious, however. Â They also have a decent beer selection but manage to ALWAYS be out of Bass. Â
Must. Â Have. Â Bass.
Its 11:45 pm on a Monday night in Dallas and its freezing. There is a slight breeze thats adding to the already frigid weather. Cars are blanketed with ice and snow. Hail is quietly descending from the sky. This is not what I am used to at all.
We are but weary travelers seeking sustenance and we are cold , thirsty and hungry. We see the open sign and immediately drive in to the parking lot.My friends and I have already stopped at 4 other places that are right off the highway and nothing is open except for this place.
We go in.It looks like a chain and probably seats about 250 + people. No hostess at the hostess station. We stand around for a good 10 minutes before we decide to walk into the bar area, which is in a different section to the right.
I notice the full bar and see that they have Guinness on tap. Nice. All of a sudden my spidey sense kicks in and my ears starts twitching. I can see and feel the stares. Deep, penetrating stares.
Just imagine the music screeching to a halt, everyone stops moving and talking and then they all turn to look at you. Well, it wasnt that extreme but you get the point. I check out the crowd. All white, I see cowboy hats all over the place coupled with tight jeans and man are those spurs ? Country music twanging away in the background.
Keep in mind my friends and I consists of 2 Asian males, 1 African American male and 1 Hispanic male. We seat ourselves and the waitress comes over.We ordered quickly, ate quickly and left quickly. Food was ok. Atmosphere was not. I will only come back if I have a bigger posse.
What the hell is that crunchy sound that I hear every time I take a step ?
We stopped here after flying in from Phoenix and we were starving. Â We started with some queso and the chips were fresh and the queso was tasty. Â We split a couple personal pizzas and they did not rock my world, but they were not bad. Â I thought the BBQ chicken was a bit better than the Ultimate Pepperoni. Â
All in all, it is a decent chain with decent service and a chainy atmosphere. Â Would I go back? Sure. Â Would I rush to get there? Â No.
Tsk Tsk, this place is just a neat looking pizza hut. They have some unique pizza varieties, so i order an original looking pizza, i get it, and not only is it super small, it tastes ok but you can immediately tell that its about the crappiest pizza quality EVER i will never go here again. Â EVER!
Oh and did i mention that their prices are OUTRAGEOUS!!
Don't go here.
Please don't.
