The beer selection: great.
The food selection: confused.
The beer selection was unique and great for anyone interested in a Scottish or British beer lineup.
The food - overall it's okay. The menu was not exactly as expected. There were a lot of options but it was a strange eclectic menu, not what I would think to see on a pub menu. Both me and my significant other felt terrible after eating here.
We probably won't come back. However, unlike some other yelpers our service was fine and we had a pleasant experience with the staff.
What a delightful place this is! My wife and I are fans of all things British and of good pubs of all kinds and this fit the bill perfectly.
FOOD
With standard British fare including bangers & mash, shepherd's pie and so forth, they have a huge menu with loads of other choices so no matter whether you're looking for a gourmet salad, a tasty burger or a chicken quesadilla, you'll probably find something you like. We ordered the Stout Macho Nachos and they were terrific! They also were very filling, as they come in a portion size large enough for four.
SERVICE
The bar was easy to get a table at and the server was efficient and friendly.
PRICING
Prices were reasonable and frankly a bit of a bargain considering the fun, pubby atmosphere and good food to go with it.
AMBIANCE
This place is HUGE!
PARKING
Not a problem. There's a huge lot that should accommodate the entire place.
NOTABLES
There are phrases from famous people written all across the ceiling areas throughout the establishment. Take time to read them because they have some pretty funny things up there.
I had the pulled pork and have definitely have had better. The biggest problem though was when the waitress brought the check she got miffed that we wanted the check split, claiming that you need to ask before she brings it, even though there were clearly three different families at the table. She proceeded to give every one there own check and of course messed those up as well. to finish this will probably not be a return visit.
Review Source:I should have listened to many of the Yelp reviews and chose not to go here. Â Stupid me. Â This is not one of those places that I would recommend and not because of their food. Â I read about numerous service issues but I disregarded. Stupid Me!
We had a group of about 8 with our 2 toddlers in tow. Â the hostess and host were very nice and polite. Â The server initially was also polite until the end. Â A group with 3 different couples and two babies usually means separate checks at least where I am from. Â She got a little snappy when we asked if we could have a our check divided. Â She tried to blame us for not telling her beforehand, Â She also didn't give the kids food free (Kids eat free on Mondays) at first and placed a few on wrong checks. Â She also divided them out one by one instead of separating them by couples. Â What, who does that? Â
The food was meh and nothing special. Â I thought it was ok but not worth the dollar amount. Â The chicken sandwich is on a huge roll where you have 2 bites on either side of only bread, Â They could put the meat to the end but they don't. Â The plates are decently loaded with food but it just wasn't a great experience. Â I would give it 3 if not for the service issues.
This review is for the food only and not for the beer. I've been to BBC twice for lunch with the most recent visit on May 29, 2013. The food is meh and the portions vary wildly.
Yesterday, I ordered the Grilled Chili Shrimp Orzo entree, which is so small that it should be billed as an appetizer. It arrived on a very small rectangular plate with 5 non-grilled shrimp on a bed of limp field greens covered in too much dressing. At most, there was 1/8 cup of orzo in this dish. It is definitely not worth the $10.99 price tag.
Meanwhile, my lunch companion ordered the Greek salad, which was so large that it could have fed 3 people. The salad was basically a garden salad with Greek dressing and a small sprinkling of feta cheese.
As for the ambiance, the interior is very dark with lots of dark wood throughout. It's a rather dreary place to eat.
I've tried to like this place, but I really can't. There are so many better restaurants in the area that I can't see wanting to go there again for mediocre food and a drab atmosphere. (Again, this isn't a review of their beer, which I hear is very good.)
I always wind up at BBC when no one can think of anywhere else to go. It's kind a hit or miss place.
I've ordered the nachos and they were phenomenal. The second time I ordered them they were horrendous.
Live music on the weekends can be fun. I never know what kind of crowd to expect here. I've been nights where there are lots of college age/
young professionals and other nights when the place is filled with young professionals' parents.
Obviously there's beer. Which is a plus. And they have some delicious martinis.
Overall the food is mehhh, the crowd can be mehhh, and the drink selection is good. I'd come for drinks but not for a meal.
came here a few weeks ago with a large group of car enthusiasts. we were meeting outside in the parking lot and then all ate as a group.
A++++ on BBC for being able to accommodate such a large group and for not making us leave their parking lot even though we loitered for about a half hour before and after eating.
food was pretty good and the service was fast even though there was probably like 25 of us ordering at the same time.
Some people may hate on this place, but its the only place around that has Kwack Belgium beer on tap!!! So yummy! Surprisingly even Sunset Grill doesn't have this beer with its cool wooden holder. Food is descent. But I don't come here for the food, beer only. Plus its a good meeting up point for a lot of my friends that work in the area.
Review Source:Have been to this location several times and always have great service, great food and great drinks. It's why we make it one of our go to's for after work refreshments. We went last night for a going away party. I knew I could have had anywhere from 15-30 people. I think we ended up between 15-20.
I just needed to write a note saying how great Ian was. He was quick on his feet, everyone always had a drink, and the food came out fast. It makes me nervous sometimes picking a location for that many people because you worry you're picking the wrong place. Ian was a big part of making this a successful night for my co-workers and employees to have a nice evening. Give that boy a raise, if not definitely keep him around.
**Disclaimer. This yelper has never met not is related to above waiter named Ian. Just liked to give props when you get REALLY good service, because I used to be a server and I know how hard it is ;)
ehhhhh this place tries so hard, but it is just not good. I find myself going back time and time again hoping that the next meal will change my overall opinion of BBC, but unfortunately, it is consistently not good. I'm not really talking about the beers because that is actually one of their highlights. I'm really talking about the food. The menu is a vast sea of bar food classics and much, much more. They even incorporated a health food section for those who choose not to order a meal that packs your max caloric intake for the day. They seem to concentrate more on the quantity of choices than the quality and their prices are actually pretty high for the food you get, which just makes it worse.
Despite my negative opinion, BBC draws some serious crowds. It is always pretty difficult finding a seat at the bar on any given night and they do have some cool events; my personal fav being trivia on monday nights.
And..it is a beer lover's haven, featuring many local brews and microbrews from abroad. The service is okay, depending upon who is working. It can get really slow when the restaurant is busy.
Overall, it is a good place to go to grab a few beers, watch sports events, and fill your belly with mediocre food.
Well, I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either. Â We were shopping in the area and I hit a wall as far as energy and I need to refresh. Â Since my blood sugar was at a low point, I could not think of any place to eat and we came up on the BBC and I said why not.
Since it is "British", I thought Fish and Chips would be a safe bet. Â How does a fish come out molten lead hot but the fries and onion rings come out cold (rhetorical question - I know the answer). Â Once the fish cooled down a bit, it was all right but nothing great. Â The fries (or chips) were soggy, as were the onion rings. Â
On a positive note, my husband got the gumbo with mashed potatoes and he said it was good with just the right amount of heat. Â He must have really liked it because he brought the rest home with him.
I had a very good experience planning a birthday party here. Â The manager Glenn gave me some suggestions on the best place for our group to set up and mingle. Â I did not know the layout of the place so I am glad he suggested this, since I was planning this party from out of town and had never been to this restaurant before. Â He also provided a follow up call to me the day of the party to make sure all the last details were set. Â I really appreciated that. Â When we had the party, the wait staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and called me by my name. Â They made good suggestions for the best appetizers for a large group.
I would highly recommend having a group gathering at the Framingham British Beer Company.
Decent beer selection. Â Sweet potato fries and the pizza (try the "Over 21 pizza" it's pretty amazing). Â The rest of the menu is pretty standard for a pub. Â Nothing too exciting or out of the ordinary.
Kitchen was a bit slow but our waiter was extremely friendly and apologetic for the delay. Â Love going to this place whenever we are in the neighborhood.
This place is exactly the type of pub most people are looking for :
-Large beer selection
-Alot of Tvs
-Good Food
-Good people
I got the shepards pie which was outstanding. Some others at my table got the make your own mac and cheese which looked pretty good as well. Overall the only drawback I could see would be its a little on the pricer side. Its not a place your going to have more than a few beers at
After driving by this place for a while now, husby and I decided to stop in for lunch. I like the big wood bar in the middle, the big, tall booths and our waitress was nice, but that's about where it ends.
The spinach dip was lacking in flavor and was kind of watery. The slightly overdone mussels had a weird flavor to them and the "garlic bread' was barely toasted. Husby's cheeseburger was good, but the onion rings where super doughy and full of grease, like dripping-out-of-the-onion-ring-when-you-bite-it greasy, ew!
Plus, I was excited that they serve Mt Dew...but it was not right. something was messed up with the machine, cause it tasted nothing like Mt Dew and strangely like ginger ale.
Bring Back the Chili's!
Cuban Chicken Quesadilla, Pumpkin beer with a sugar rim and a Patriots game was what I needed.
Black beans, peppers, cheese, sour cream and salsa was way better than I expected.
I've always loved the Pumpkin beers here which always brings me back.
So on the next week I tried the onion rings. Â I was leery since I am not much for thick batter and no ring but they were perfect with a crunch but not dry and over cooked.
The service is hit and miss. Â The first time they only had a dark Dogfish Pumpkin so I tried it and found it delic.
The second time there were 3 kinds of pumpkin and I didn't care for the lighter one as much. Â One waitress was really not so interested but the other waiter was on top of it and made things right...napkins, silverware, the right order up and at the right temp.
The fall is a nice time to come in off route 9.
I don't much about beer, but definitely had a grand ol' time at this place - beer - who would've thought?! The waitstaff is nice, and it's a pretty chill atmosphere with a great beer selection - from what I can tell. I am not much of a beer aficionado but I tried a few independent labels there that were pretty tasty.
Would definitely go back next time I'm on that side of the world!
I love British Beer Company in Framingham.
I have come here with several friends at least 20 seperate times. The lines can get long around the weekends, so come early if you're here to see some games. The TVs are great in 2 out of the 3 rooms (they could use a couple more TVs in the dining room). The food is delicious usually, and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. The prices aren't annoyingly high. And during playoff time, my friends and I would sit for hours ordering beer and there wouldn't be a single complaint.
I'm a big fan of their wings, the beer list, and anything with mashed potatoes in it. I feel like they put crack in that stuff. I found out the other day the secret ingredient may actually be cheese. But regardless, come with an empty stomach and enjoy beers, game, and good company at BBC.
Oh, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend most of their sandwiches, but the specials and burgers and irish & english fare on their menu are generally solid.
I came here with a few work colleagues after work. Â We arrived around 10:30pm and all the kitchen would serve was pizza. Â Not exactly what we were looking for but our options were dwindling quickly so we accepted.
They have a decent collection of beers but for some reason five of the beers that I had asked from the menu for were not available. Â The very cute waitress was apologietic so it is hard to get upset.
We had some good beers while we waited for our pizzas to arrive. Â They waitress paid attention and was ready to take our order for more beers. Â
We got one Fenway (sausage and green pepper) and one pepperoni. Â They were hot as all get out and I got the classic burned roof of mouth syndrom. Â The pepperoni was very crispy. Â Both pizzas were tasty. Â The crust bottom was nice and crisp which is rather rare for most places. Â While I've had much much better pizzas in the past, I would not have expected such good pizza from an English pub. Â
We were there until closing and there was hardly anyone there the entire time we were there. Â But they still felt it necessary to blare out some odd music. Â The lighting was very bright, it would have been better with dimmer lighting.
I go to the BBC pretty often for the beer. Their selection is definitely above-par, as I tend to like more "exotic" beers that you don't see everywhere. That being said, their service is generally meh, the waitresses/waiters haven't been super attentive the last couple of times I went.
Example? The waitress came over IMMEDIATELY after we ordered our second round of drinks (after food) with the bill. This did not give us an option to order another round, which we wanted. We then had about 20 minutes for us to not look at the bill, look at the bill, decide how we were going to pay, and then finally head to the bar to close our tab and start another one. We assumed, since it was about 10 pm, that maybe our waitress had to leave and wanted to close everyone out beforehand.
Not the case. She came over about 10 minutes later when we were sitting at the bar and asked if we wanted to close out. Honestly, it was long enough that had wanted to walk out on the bill, we easily could have. The entire set of shenanigans were frustrating, to say the least.
All in all though, if you don't mind an average wait staff, the food and drinks are always good. I usually go for the hummus platter if I'm feeling healthy, or their lobster mac and cheese if not. They also make a damn good pomegranate martini, if you're not a big beer fan.
Heatwave outside and the manager considers A/C optional? Â Seriously.
On a night like tonight, what better way to beat the heat than with some good friends a good meal and a pint or two?
The ladies loved the Sangria and skinny margaritas. Â Pints for the Gents so no worries from the busy bar with four servers doing the let's look busy dance. Â
Braised short ribs with cheesey mash and root veggies was delicious and properly prepared. Â Pulled pork sliders were just the right size and tasty, if not slightly too sweet. Â Others' meals met with no complaints and at least one new member to the BBC clean plate club. Â Service staff was friendly, polite, efficient and understanding.
Having been here before, with no complaints or epiphanies to share, we would have expected to be heard when we discussed how uncomfortable we all were. Â Three other tables called servers over to report their discomfort. Â Customers fanning themselves with their menus, sharing tales of broasting in their seats, did not earn the attention of the manager. Â No explanation, no excuses, no action, attention or consideration AT ALL from senior staff.
So, a four star review on a busy Friday night with a very good kitchen/service staff working at the top of their game. Â Minus one star for a potential A/C malfunction. Â Minus another for a deliberate and inexcusable management malfunction.
UPDATE 110725: Â Both @BBCtheham and @BritishBeerCo deleted this tweet from their stream with no attempt to communicate. Â Nice.
Yesterday was my first time visiting the BBC. The weather in Boston has been BRUTAL, in the 100s and sadly their AC was broken. Of course we didn't notice until we were seated. They were fairly busy for the AC being out. The group next to us complained every time their server came to the table, which I found to be very unfair. Management came and apologized for the AC and they were very nice.
My friend and I both had their Raspberry Ale which was quite tasty. Their french fries are divine and the service I believe was very good. The waitress had a lot of tables and was very much attentive to us still. The bar had live music and it seemed to be the place to go after dinner. I will return, and hopefully the AC will be working :)
Very very impressed!
The beer menu is enough to put a smile on anyones face.
I don't understand the comments about the American side of the beer menu being disappointing. Its not an American bar, DUH!
The food menu is equally impressive. It took me 20 mins to decide on what I wanted. Well truth be told I wanted everything but I settled on the Chicken & Leek pasty pie.
It was just like a pasty you would get back in Ireland/Britain. The mashed potatoes were great too. Just the right portion size.
The missus got the Chili Glazed Salmon and was very satisfied.
All washed down with a pint of Blackthorn Cider.
Not a huge dessert fan but we decided to try the Triple Chocolate Fudge Cake i.e the straight to my ass cake.
It was sooo chocolatey and delicious. I'm sure anyone with a sweet tooth would be close to heaven while eating this.
The service was great also. Very fast & friendly.
I'm starting to really like living in the Metrowest!
The British Beer Company has many things going for it:
1. The menu is so expansive that I can find several vegetarian options clearly listed on the menu AND they have almost every ingredient known to man, so they are able to improvise and make something not on the menu.
2. I have tried a few of their LARGE salads. They are fantastic. Packed with ingredients that are fresh and different.
3. The prices are reasonable for food and alcohol.
4. The beer list is humongous. They also let you sample some of the beers if you are having a hard time deciding. They also have a full bar with all cocktails and mixed drinks.
5. The place is pretty big, so even though most of the resteraunts are packed in this area, I have not had to wait very long for a table. This place is really close to the Jordan's IMAX, which is nice too.
Where they could improve would be :
1. Service. The wait staff could stand to be a bit more attentive the the tables and consistent. I know this is a huge place, most often very busy - however, they do need to make sure they are taking plates, refilling drinks etc.
We come here almost every Monday night for trivia in the bar. In terms of chain restaurants, the food is pretty good! At this point, I think we've eaten almost everything on the menu.
High points: The pizza, especially on the new multi-grain crust they offer, is better than expected at a British-style pub. The pasty pies are also great. My BFF loves the sweet potato fries. And my absolute favorite thing on the menu is the panko crusted green beans. Way better than a similar item at TGI Fridays.
Low points: The chili salmon comes with a side of "stir fried" veggies, but instead of a general mix of expected stir fried veggies, it was broccoli and then some assortment of unnamed root veggies. Not a good fit with the salmon, and not good in general. The french dip is REALLY salty. The grilled cheese and Earl of Sandwich sandwiches are just way too much bread for the contents of the sandwich.
They have a decent, though not all that extensive, beer list, and they have nice touches like serving the pumpkin beer with a cinnamon-sugar rim. And they have cider on tap!
I've been to a bunch of different places for trivia in Worcester and Metrowest, and this is one of the better options, if a little on the pricey side. Overall, a good place to eat, catch a game or play a little trivia with John on Monday nights.
They may have a "huge" beer list, but I didn't see anything huge about it... I have seen other places with a bigger list & a better selection. Â I had to go with a Guinness on this pass. Â Also important to note: they do not have Coke or Pepsi, but rather, Real City Soda... which IMO is crap.
I got the mac & cheese with hamburger & while it was piping hot & super cheesy, I just couldn't get into it...& I was starving. Â The hamburger is seasoned somehow & tasted like sausage to me. Â Also, when I order mac & cheese, I want it to have some sort of sharpness - a bite - something... this was just very not exciting, despite the 5 cheeses (I wonder now what they were). Â Hubby, on the other hand, devoured the rest of my dish & loved it. Â
Service was OK, though I didn't feel any sort of connection...like our server was completely disengaged.
Yes, I like this place, BBC.
I've been here three times in past months and always satisfied.
My friend is living around the town of framingham so we went to BBC to grab a beer or so. I have to agree that it was very crowded even though on tuesday night but we got the small table in the back so that didn't bother me...
We've ordered GREEN BEAN FRIES with own ranch dipping sauce for appetizer and it was yummy if you like green bean like I do :)
Then we got FISH TACO and one of the popular BBC's Pizza. I've tried lots of different fish taco in america and mexico but this place makes a good fish taco. Hard yellow corn tortillas with grilled haddock with avocado, corn, lettuce, tomato etc.... it was a good dish.
Finally, Â We got our pizza! I've seen in the phantom gourmet that BBC's one of the popular pizza, OVER 21 PIZZA :D
Steak, peppers, onions and mushrooms served over bourbon sauce. Topped with cheddar cheese, then misted with bourbon tableside..
It was one of the greatest pizza that I've had in my life... perfect combination with steak and peppers on bourbon sauce and it tastes like a fried dough at the crust... Â I've been here three times and we always order OVER 21 PIZZA! gotta try it :)
Rumor has it that Lady Astor once said to Winston Churchill "Sir, you are Drunk; Very, Very Drunk." Dear Winston replied, "Madame, you are Ugly; Very, Very Ugly. I Shall be Sober in the Morning." Humorous and famous quotes like this inhabit the ceiling margins of this British inspired restaurant. As a small chain located in Massachusetts, the British Beer Company delivers a wide assortment of beers on tap, a full bar, and culinary delights that are British, American, and everything in between. On my recent trip back east, I dined twice at the BBC (not to be confused with the television network). Here's what I had on both visits:
The Royal Kick'n Mac & Cheese - Four cheesy courtiers dance around the soft pasta until one is lost in a frommage masquerade. Pancetta makes a quick appearance flitting around to and fro on the top of the dish. The whole procession is then bricked up in breadcrumbs and served in a plate-sized ramekin. Like Henry the 8th, I gluttonously devoured the whole thing with no apologies. A children's size is also available. This is a must for any mac and cheese lover.
Wensleydale Burger - A feast fit for a Duke or Gent, this piece of sagacious ground sirloin was cooked medium, with just a touch of red remaining. Accompanied by grilled onions and Wensleydale Cheese, I was in lavishing in royal taste. For those not familiar with it, Wensleydale Cheese is a mild British blue cheese mixed with cranberries. Amazing.
British Beer Company Fries - Golden Chips so good any natural born Brit would shed a tear. I dipped then in their delicious Harry Kari Curry Sauce, and the combination was spicy and succulent.
This location is attached to a hotel, and has plenty of parking in their lot out front. Dark wood carvings, comfortable seating, and a fireplace help to suggest a European pub. My two servers on both visits, Zineb and Molly, were charming, delightful and attentive. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Framingham.
I just got back from a fab vacation in northeastern England for a wedding, so when I went to the BBC, I was looking for key English dishes. Â I found one solid choice: the Pasty Pies (as is pa-stee, not pay-stee). Â I almost ordered one, but was drawn away by other very American offers like Chicken Parmesan and the Pastrami Roll. Â Besides, they didn't have pasty flavors like the ones in the UK -- like chicken curry, beef stew, minced lamb, etc. Â They have weird American versions like cheeseburger and thanksgiving style.
I will say that their take on a reuben-meets-cape cod-slash-UK appeared to be pretty tasty (as in tay-stee not ta-stee): a fried cod filet stacked on a London Ale roll with cole slaw and Russian Dressing. Â And their pastrami roll met my expectations with the added bonus of being steamed in the Fuller's London Pride Ale (which I enjoyed in a pint).
So in all, I liked my meal for sure, but was pretty disappointed in that their food selections were actually not so British (I saw some things with an Asian edge and southern flair, but not too much that screamed "Yo! We serve British stuff") except for, of course, the beer, which, when you think about it, the restaurant IS called the British BEER company and doesn't imply british food is served at all.
Well, I just talked myself into a 4-star rating vs a 3.
Went out on a Wednesday night for a friends birthday. Grabbed a couple tables and listened to some bad karaoke. Â Ambiance was night, had a good selection of beers. The glass of wine we ordered was FOUL.
Our waiter was obscenely horrendous. Every single person in my group in in the service industry, mostly FOH, and i think our waiter topped out our worst service experience ever. We'd tried to be nice and wait for him to come around to get new people drinks, so we could add money to his check, but it was painful waiting 20 mins for a new beer. And its not like it was even that busy. Went outside at one point and he was out smoking, guess we now know where he kept disappearing too.
At the end of the night, the bartender called over to our good that it was last call. We flagged down our waiter to get a new beer and he told us we missed last call by five minutes. Which is funny, cause the bartender JUST told us it was last call, while the waiter NEVER told us, which he made it seem like it was our fault. Probly cause he was outside again though. Manager came over and was an unreasonable douche-baggins. That despite every example of our waiter being inattentive, and not giving us last call, it was our fault, we weren't getting a drink, and to leave. Well...great way to lose out on a whole lot of future business, fool!
Only reason not 1 star is the bartender was apologetic and nice (she even admitted the waiter was lazy). And it was pretty good atmosphere. I'm all for management backing their staff, but not at the expense of good service and keeping guests even mildly looking forward to coming back.
First time was a winner! The BBC Burger was huge and perfectly cooked (on the rare side of med. rare). Gouda and bacon on a burger? Yes, please! Â My grilled vegetable flat bread sandwich was amazing -- but messy! I had to eat it with a knife and fork since we had a movie to catch. The fries were tasty but I wish the waitress would have told us about the other sides available.
Try the Holy Grail Ale -- such a tasty Monty Python reference.
Loved the dark wood and quotes in gold paint (" Of All the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most" ). We will definitely be back for more!
I went here Friday night with some friends for a "Girls' Night." I didn't have high hopes - especially after reading the reviews on here - but was just looking to have fun with my friends.
I was the first one to show up and when I got into the parking lot, saw that they had free valet. Knowing that the lot is small, but not wanting to HAVE to tip, I opted to find my own spot, figuring I'd do valet if I couldn't find anything. I ended up getting lucky and found a good spot in the lot.
I was the first one there, but my friend had done call ahead. When she arrived though, she said that she called the restaurant earlier in the day and they suggested she call at 6 (we were meeting at 7). She called at 6 as told and the person who answered said she was calling way too early and that they couldn't put her name down for 7 p.m. yet - call back at 6:30. She called back at 6:30 and was told they were all filled for call-ahead and she should call back. I think she either said "you told me to call" or just called back, because when I got there, her name was down. Still - annoying that she was told several different things. I did like that the buzzer had a video game on it to keep me entertained while waiting for my friends!
Once we were seated, we were all a little surprised by the height of the booth. 2 of us (me included) had to almost take a running jump to get into the seat!
In terms of food/drink: the beer selection is great. The drinks are a great size and most are so cheap. I didn't get a beer but was so impressed with the options!
We started with the Mediterranean Artichoke Dip: Artichoke hearts, spinach, parmesan and cheddar cheeses served warm with homemade pita chips.
It was ok - a rather small portion, but a good size for a small appetizer - and pretty thin, "liquidy" dip. I prefer a thicker, creamier one.
For my meal, I got the Honey Mojito Grilled Chicken: Chicken basted with a honey mojito sauce served with grilled fingerling potatoes, pineapple mango salsa, fresh vegetable and grilled pineapple.
So good! It was a really light, healthy meal which a good amount of chicken. I really enjoyed it. My friend got the Shrimp appetizer version and I felt like such a pig because mine was so much bigger!
Our waitress was really nice - she didn't even mind that we took forever to open the menus. But we were disappointed that they only had regular coffee and ONE (!) type of tea! I understand it's a Beer-themed restaurant, but it's also British-themed. An array of teas seems necessary.
All-in-all, not an amazing restaurant. Don't go expecting something fancy. It's a fun, casual place for good drinks and decent food with friends or family. If that's what you're looking for, go here.
I met so many great fellows here!
I ate big dinner before taking Tommy's Taxi to Framingham common to meet other friends who convene with meat. Â We had some broccoli and then had a pogo stick race to work up our thirst. Â We could not all fit in my friend Glucious' car so I hitchhiked route 9 by way of a man in a trenchcoat who operated miniature van. Â
We were greeted by several fellows at the bar who made to joke about my glasses and tight jeans and we all did karaoke to mm bop and dancing queen. Â I hugged everyone and then went to bathroom to use fingernail clippers and drank beer drink!
I can't wait for dessert!
I went on a whim for lunch, and the food was better than I expected. Â I had the "All American" pasty and although the filling was just okay, the crust / dough was pretty darn tasty. Â I imagine a normal pasty would be tasty in that. Â Big plus for having malt vinegar for the fries as well as curry based sauces to dip / flavor your dishes with. Â
Love the beer on tap selection, the bottled selection, and everything else. Â Best deal on tap has got to be IMO the Dogfishhead 90 min IPA on tap, 20 ounces for under $7 (with a APV of 9 percent, it's like having 2 beers for the price of one, and a good one at that). Â I do love that they're not afraid to serve high alcohol content beer in large glasses.
Was there on Saturday with a friend grabbing lunch whilst furniture shopping!
LOVE that they have "Arrogant Bastard Ale" - but opted for the Boddingtons. Mmmm.... love Boddingtons.
Dark wood and leather, with funny quotes painted on the walls relating to beer and drinking in general. Pretty good service, and really enjoyed the food! I had their Pork Poggwich - pulled pork in a bread boule with melted Gruyere cheese with bbq sauce. MMMMMMMMMM, SO GOOD. And so completely filling!! Had their panko crusted green beans to accompany - which I would recommend to everyone out there! My friend had their Cuban sandwich (which looked like a panini since it was grilled with melted cheese oozing out of the sides), which was also super yummy.
Parking does look like it would be a concern during peak hours - but I'm optimistic for this "chain"! :) Great place to hang out in MetroWest.
As a big fan of this chain, I came on opening night willing to forgive a multitude of sins. Â But really, the only problem was the parking. Â This is the same story that the Walpole location had when it opened, and things do level out over time it seems.
Food was great, service was with it (they had seasoned staff from other locations to help out the new staff, ensuring a successful opening night), beer selection was good (Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA on tap was worth the wait), and the decor was very well done.
I will say, as the night got later, the crowd got rowdier. Â The place had only been open for 7 hours and there were already fights in the parking lot. Â Hopefully that aspect will die down with time, but it didn't at Walpole, so we'll see what happens here.
They don't take reservations now, but in a month or two they are going to start.
