Brother's is the typical college chain bar and the best thing they have going for them is the variety of beers on tap.

I've been several times and it always seems like there are more employees standing around socializing with each other than actually working.

Our most recent visit was today (Sunday) for a quick lunch (and only because we had a gift card to use).  Every time I've been there, it seems like it's a bother to the hostesses when you walk in - no friendly greeting.  Today we were actually pleasantly surprised and had a great server.  She greeted us right away, took drink orders, etc and a very timely and professional fashion, which was a first for this place.

We ordered the cheese curds as an appetizer, which is your standard fried cheese - nothing too exciting and a bit on the overly greasy side.

My husband and I each ordered beers since pints are only $3 on Sundays (we noticed ours were actually a little less when we received the check).

My husband ordered the reuben with kettle chips.  Our food came out so quickly and it was obvious that it was quickly thrown together.  The corned beef looked nice and lean, but he said it was horribly dry.  The bread was barely toasted and on the greasy side.  The kettle chips were bland and some tasted a bit stale.

I ordered the chicken ranch wrap and added fries for a $1 more.  The wrap was fine - grilled chicken, lettuce, cheddar, bacon and ranch (hold the tomatoes).  It was a little overpriced for the $9 you end up paying with fries added.  The fries were pretty good - definitely worth the extra $1 over the chips.

Our service was great, which is out of the norm for my experiences at this place, but there was also hardly anyone there (other than the 10-12 employees chatting with each other, sitting on the floor blowing up balloons and hanging up streamers for the ND bowl game).

If you are looking for a good place to catch the game and have a variety of beers on tap, then this is your place.  If you are looking for service and a good food, skip it.

    Brothers.

I'm usually a fan of any place that has more than one beer that a snob like me will drink, HOWEVER, Brothers was out of some of my brews, the service was iffy, and the food was NOTHING to write home about.  Therefore, I give it a 2, because seriously? I've experienced better.

It took FOREVER for us to get a server to greet us, FOREVER for our food, and then? the food wasn't even that good.  Bah.

We had the cheese curds and nachos and a bunch of burgers.  The appetizers weren't too bad, but the entrees were straight out of a drunken run to McDonald's.  Seriously.

The only positive is that they had some Southern Tier 2X IPA on tap.  Otherwise, I'd have to Nichole SMASH this place.

Overall, not a bad place to drink, but go elsewhere for the grub.

Went here because it seemed difficult to find decent food near Notre Dame. It was recommended by our hotel. Being from the Midwest, I was excited to see that they offered cheese curds as an appetizer - awesome! They were the white cheese, not the yellow cheddar, which I don't consider as authentic....but they were still tasty. The booths were really deep and there were plenty of high and low tables scattered throughout the restaurant/bar as well. We were there for dinner around 7:30p on a Tuesday night, and there were probably about 20 people in the entire place.

Lots of pretty decent bar food options: a word of caution - they put shredded cheese on EVERYTHING. I got a nice house salad for about $6. It was huge and definitely enough for a light dinner....but it was almost impossible to see the green stuff because of the cheese! Their house balsamic vinaigrette was fantastic.

My boyfriend had "the Big Irish", which was an open-faced hot dog with chili, onions, cheese (see? more cheese!), and a fried egg. It came with kettle chips (kinda bland). He said it was more than enough food (and he's a big guy).

I'll bet this place really gets packed during ND football games, seeing as it's right across the street from the stadium. Nothing super special, didn't have any drinks so I can't speak to the specials or their selection.
