Cafe Telegraph never disappoints!  We have been to Cafe Telegraph around 10 or 12 times and each time the service was great, the beer was cold and the food was outstanding!  We try to order something differnt every time but one thing we order EVERY time is the  smoked/par friend wings!  They are unbelievable!  Another favorite is the massive smoked pork steak!  The service is always friendly and the owner comes to your table EVERY time, just to chat and see how the food was.  We will continue going to Cafe Telegraph and I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun, friendly evnironment with GREAT food and drinks!!!

This is my first time here.  We have been hearing how good this place is; so our expectations were high!  Just to let you know up front we were not disappointed!
I decided on the pulled pork and it was not only the biggest pulled pork sandwich I have ever seen it was very tasty!  Just a side note this was Not the jumbo 20 oz. sandwich but the regular sandwich!! My wife selected the smoked meatloaf dinner and she also was not disappointed.  The service was prompt and friendly!  The owner was out and about talking with the patrons too!  The place was fantastic and did I mention all the dishes on the menu are named after the local schools in the St. Louis area!  A very nice twist; just as this place is! Give it a shot, did I mention the beer was cold and the smoked wing appetizer was Awesome! Some of the biggest wing sections I have ever to sink my teeth into!   The sauce was spicy but not overbearing and the smoke added so much depth to the flavor!!!  My new go too place for wings and cold beer!

We had to go see what the fuss was about.  Expectations were pretty low, given the neighborhood.  In a nutshell, this place is kind of a local Texas Roadhouse.   Instead of emphasizing steak, they focus more on BBQ here.  One of the owners told us about the construction and how they got a lot of the woodwork (very nice) for pennies on the dollar reclaimed from disasters, including Kartina.  He said they did a ton of the construction work themselves and they did a nice job.  You definitely don't get the feeling they cut corners and for the neighborhood the place is very nice. I hope they do well.

I had a half smoked chicken for around $13.  This is plent of food for two unless you're big eaters.   We ended up bringing a lot of it home.

The server was every enthusiastic about the menu and anxious for us to try differnet kinds of sauces and dressings, etc.  She loved them all.  So did we.

I wouldn't say the prices are a bargain, but they are fair given the volume and quality.

On the downside, I stopped in for a happy hour beer a couple of weeks later and was not all that impressed by the value or the bartender service.

Still, South county needed something like this and I hope they do well.  We'll be back.

Stopped in for a bite at the neighborhood bar and grill... needless to say, it was fantastic. Service was great, beers were ice cold. Their Bloody Mary's are a must have, along the smoked par wings. I loved the presence of management, owners and friendly staff. A little fact I learned in a conversation with the manger (yes, he took the time to engage in pleasant conversation, unlike some of the awkward ones at other restaurants)... all of the wood work in the place was collected from fallen trees in Hillsboro. Beautiful!

I love the smoked pork and the pizza. Service has been consistently good on every visit. I really don't understand some of the complaints here. I think it is a wonderful new addition to the area.

A break from the mold from the other Cafe restaurants in South County/Jefferson County.  This place is newly renovated with nice wood work.  The menu features more smoked/BBQ food than your standard bar and it's all pretty good.  Pulled pork and smoked chicken are pretty good.

We are from California and the friends we were visiting in St Louis took us out to dinner here. We were very pleased with dinner, the pulled pork was amazing and the smoked meat loaf my husband had was incredible. The owners came to our table to ask how our meals were and even brought out some chicken quarters that were smoke/pare fried (I hope I am writing that correctly), it was some of the best chicken I have had.  The staff was fast and friendly and the portions of food were generous! Next time we are in St Louis we will definitely eat here again!

I have eaten at Cafe Telegraph several times and every meal I have ordered has been good. The portions are generous and the atmosphere is nice. I have experienced some issues but an intelligent persons knows that there will be bumps with any new restaurant. Good luck to them.

I am surprised to read the negative reviews for this restaurant. I went there for lunch with a group of friends and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the Buffalo chicken wrap and it was fresh and tasty. The French fries were hot and crispy. Others in the group had the pulled pork sandwich and the Gerber and a luncheon special of a pizza and salad combo. Our waitress was very nice and was happy to split the check for us.

My husband and I ate there last evening. We got a tower of onion rings (awesome) with a chili dipping sauce. The sauce was great, kind of sweet and spicy. I tried the pulled pork sandwich (very good) and my husband got the bacon and bleu cheese burger. It was so large he wasn't able to eat all of it (he ate most of the onion rings!)
Our server was friendly and helpful with a wine selection.
On both occasions an owner/manager stopped by our table for a brief chat. Very nice people.

The decor is fun and it is neat that they give a history of some of the items that they have used in decorating the place. It has the feel of a friendly neighborhood hangout.
    We will be returning often.

Went about 5:00 PM on a Friday evening and got right in. Place looked nice so we had high hopes. First sign of trouble was when two different waitress tried to wait on us, so they seemingly have no assigned tables. I ordered the pork steak and vegetables medley as my side. My wife ordered a hamburger and fries. My daughter ordered the pulled pork sandwich and fries. The food took an awful long time to come, but eventually we were served. While we were waiting we noticed the servers using their bare hands to reach into the lemon bin and add lemons to drinks, then handle money and lemons again. Not very sanitary. When our food came, the portions were nice, but other than my pork steak, the food was lousy. My vegetable medley was simply frozen vegetables warned up and slapped into a bowl. The fries are frozen and mealy. The hamburger was frozen and cooked hard as a rock with no taste other than burnt. It comes with bagged, shredded lettuce and a pickle. At least the pickle was good. Hard to screw up a pickle. The pulled pork was very oily with an unappealing flavor. I will say that my pork steak was large and very tender. It had a good flavor, but a huge portion of it was fat. The vegetables were terrible and I asked for something else. I received broccoli cooked in a buttery liquid that was nearly tasteless but better than the other choice. We spent nearly $50 for three lousy meals and do not expect to go back.

Poor execution! Placed a take out order and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes.  An hour later our food was ready to be picked up.  They forgot to put the sauce on the wings we ordered and missed the BBQ sauce on the triple pig burger.  We also received a different chicken sandwich than we actually ordered.  Not only was the order incorrect, but the food was boring and bland.

My first experience was bad and we left. This time we received excellent service and the food turned out awesome. Kudos goes out to the Cafe Telegraph staff for redeeming themselves without even knowing it!

    Welcome Cafe Telegraph!

Living near this new establishment, I was very excited to see an old building being revamped into what is already popular.

Being open for only a few short weeks, every time we passed we saw that it was packed.  Luckily we were able to get our first peek on Cardinals opening night.  The building is awesome.  Take time to read about this history of the building, they have taken items from various buildings and added it to make this a one of a kind.  There are many tvs along the walls and it is very welcoming.

Their menu isn't expansive but you're sure to find something.  They are being noted for their smoked items so we got the pulled pork and the chicken sandwiches respectively.  We were not disappointed and we left feeling quite full.

The staff was very attentive and we loved that everyone was available, not just the person assigned to our table.  We had many people refilling our drinks which was very welcomed.

Be sure to check out South County's newest restaurant - you won't be disappointed!
