I love Cary St. cafe! I'm moving to Tennessee and I'm really going to miss this place even with all the good food in Nashville! The wings are awesome I'm a shameless addict. French dip is awesome, hummus is awesome, I love all the wraps. Monday night karaoke is really fun, if you ever want to sing where you wont be judged do it here! The live music is really good they pick fun jam bands and whatnot. Delivery is awesome they bring beer and cigarettes too! I wish they had a better beer selection though. I will miss this place the most while I'm gone. I LOVE YOU CARY STREET CAFE!!!
Review Source:This place has quickly become one of my favorites in the downtown area. My normal order is the buffalo chicken wrap which is delicious and comes with a good amount of fries for just $6.50. They have happy hour M-F from I believe 3 'til 7 with 1/2 price apps from 4-6, the apps are already fairly inexpensive to begin with. This is your typical to the area hipster hole in the wall hangout, but I enjoy this because 9 times out of 10 you are bound to find a good meal at good price in places like these
Review Source:This hippie-haven has been the cornerstone for much of the jamband culture in Richmond and beyond since before I got here. Â Jerry even played there once. Â Live music almost EVERY night w/ RVA's best jamband (FormerChamps) rock it out and pack the place every Tuesday.
The food is always on point as recent orders of giant nachos and their blackened chicken sandwich delivered, followed by a few cheap PBRs and some damn good music!
I also love their deck over looking Cary St. just east of Carytown. Â You are always sure to find plenty of phriendly folks there.
Self-proclaimed "hippy bar": the decor is pretty ridiculous (assuming you've moved on from the Summer of Love) - and the place is very dark - but the food is excellent for bar grub. Everything tastes fresh, unlike the uber frozen fried foods you'd expect.
They offer plenty of vegetarian options, along with meat, delivering all over the fan. They also deliver beer @ $9 per 6-pack, domestic (and unfortunately, cigarettes) - which is a rarity in Richmond.
Overall scene is nicer than most in the area (people-wise) and somewhat eclectic. But fyi: there are a few creepy old male bar flies.
* Very good happy hour deals.
* Live music is geared heavily toward jam-bands.
I still have never been in here, but I got delivery for the first time last week and was pretty happy with it.
The bf and I started with potato skins. I'm pretty sure these were handmade, not defrosted, and they were topped with plenty of cheesey, bacon-y goodness. For my meal, I went blackened blue burger and vegetarian chili. The burger was full of flavor, as was the veggie chili. It was packed with veggies and fresh flavor. I'd def get it again. Don't tell anyone, but I dipped my potato skins in the chili and it was quite delicious. The bf got a chili-cheese burger and was similarly pleased.
When we called to place our order, they were super friendly on the phone, and the food arrived in a timely fashion. We'll def order again!
They surprisingly have one of the best chicken wraps in the area - it actually was similar to a chicken gyro wrap and tasted better than some of the chicken gyros that I have had at greek restaurants around here. Â Another plus is that they are open until 2:00am on the weekdays if you are hungry late at night.
