Tenderest veal I have ever eaten. Â Great service, nice ambiance. Â The only negatives are the location as it's in a borderline sketchy part of Jersey City. Â Also, I'm in my 40s and I'm probably the youngest person in there when I dine, so it's not hip. Â They often have live entertainment and it's ok, but it's pretty old school and a little cheesy. Â It's great food and service, so I would return.
Review Source:What a mess! Â Right out of the gate the bartender was extremly rude, as if he was there doing us a favor! The place was dead empty on a mid week late afternoon, my guest and I stoped for cocktails first at the bar (enter Mr Rude), thought we would try an appetizer- scuingille fra diavlo. YES I know that means spicy, so I asked if it could be tamned a bit. " what do you mean, its diavallo, thats means hot- you want it or not?" Nice huh?
Goodbye to that! You need more than a stylish bar to get customers. Mediocre food and bad attitude gets you nothing
(EDIT 7/11/13) The proprietor invited me to return, gave me the contact for his "assistant", promised to take care of things: I did make that call, left message, NO RETURN CALL! Guess that's representative
My boyfriend and I heard about Casa Dante through some of his family friends. They wouldn't stop talking about how great the food was, so we decided we needed to give it a try. We headed to CD on a Friday night, and I am so happy we did. Not only was the food amazing, but they had a live performer! Who doesn't love some dinner and dancing?! The vibe was super old school italian, I loved it. For my pasta dish I had whole wheat penne with the Puttanesca sauce(chopped plum Tomatoes, garlic, anchovies, capers and kalamata olives) it was even better then it sounds. For my fish entree I had the Sogliola Francese, which is a nice sized piece of sole in a lemon sauce. It was AMAZING, I'm not kidding when i say that I crave it all the time now. For desert we got the tiramisu, and a cannoli- both are a must have. Â The waitstaff was great, all very polite and on point. The girls bathroom had some great little toiletries in it, which I loved as well. Overall, Casa Dante was amazing. Can not wait to go back!
