Been here several times. Â They just got a new menu which I am not impressed with. Â Service is just ok. Â The owner is not friendly and very arrogant. Â We recently went in when a Blackhawks player was making an appearance and we spent alot of money on dinner, drinks, autographs and the owner, not the player, wouldn't allow us to take a picture. Â The owner should treat his paying customers better. I will not be going back any time soon if ever again!
Review Source:Incredibly bland burgers... Yes they have a nice bar, and yes they have Three Floyd's, but the actual Three Floyd's is within walking distance and cheaper pints there too!  I really feel bad for the girls working here too, they have to wear horrid outfits.  Overpriced and tasteless.  Definitely better places to eat  in the area.
Review Source:I've gone back and forth over this in my head, and decided that Charley Horse gets 2 stars from a vegetarian standpoint. They have a pretty great location in that the only competition near them is a Red Lobster and Cafe Borgia. It's nice enough inside. It reminds me of an Applebee's or Bennigans. There's lots of kitsch sports memorabilia hanging on the walls and games playing throughout. The tin ceiling is pretty killer- I'll give them that.
As I mentioned, I've been eating as a pescatarian lately (vegetarian plus fish if you aren't familiar) and had some trouble with this menu. Nothing was even remotely healthy, not even their salads. In the end, I opted for the oriental salad minus the chicken, and added grilled shrimp. My husband got the Greek salad, and the rest of our party got meat laden plates of deliciousness. I'll take their word on that anyway. Both salads were $10- add in the shrimp and you're talking a whopping $14. I have no problem paying that much for a salad. Quality ingredients cost money folks. However, both salads were 90% iceberg and 10% random greens thrown in. Last I checked, iceberg lettuce is dirt cheap. I could eat a pickup truck's worth for $14. It's been years since I've had a salad with iceberg, so I can't remember if it was always watery or if this was a different side effect to the entree. Either way, you could have skipped the drink. Yeah, watery. All of my toppings- red peppers, bean sprouts, mandarin oranges, water chestnuts, green onions- were an after thought. They were straight out of a can and gone within a couple bites. I'll give them some credit for the shrimp. They were huge and cooked perfectly. But, the heavy, butter sauce they were bathed in ruined them. My husband's was similar in that there wasn't an abundance of any of the veggies that make up the "Greek" portion of the salad.
We were both pretty disappointed by the meal, which is sad cuz how the heck do you mess up a salad? It's obvious that Charley's forte isn't vegetarian dishes or salads, so take my review with a grain of salt if that's not your focus. Head over here and get yourself a big juicy burger, chimichanga or pulled pork sandwich.
I seemed to have the opposite experience of the other yelpers - mediocre food but good service. Our waitress was really nice and came by often...but the food just wasn't great. The mozzarella sticks had a good sauce, but really strange breading. My fettucine alfredo's sauce was way too thick (although I did like the broccoli with the dish, that was a nice touch) and my boyfriend's steak just didn't look appetizing.
I would probably come back here to watch a game and have a couple of beers, but I would definitely stick to the simple appetizers.
Really a 3.5 star.
I recently dined here early on a Friday evening. Â Much to my surprise, most appetizers were 1/2 off throughout the entire restaurant until 6 PM. Â I had a craving for nachos and am glad I did. Â The nachos portion was large and tasted quite delicious. Â I highly recommend sharing the full order or ordering just a 1/2 order for yourself.
My dining companies both had salads and Reuben sandwiches and said they were delicious. Â I look forward to my next visit to try some non-appetizer items.
They also have a great selection of Three Floyds beer on tap.
I'm not usually around this area, but recently had dinner here. The Charley Horse isn't a bad place to grab some good ol' American comfort food. One thing is for sure, I love their prices. Holy cow, $3 for a Stella Chalice everyday? Yes, please. I also got an order of their Buffalo Wings and Chips and Salsa, and they both were pretty good.
I wasn't a fan of their service, though. Granted, we had a pretty big group, but even when our waitress wasn't busy, she never really came to check on us. I didn't get any Blue Cheese or Celery with my wings, and when I asked for them, the bus boy only brought out the Blue Cheese. It was a little irritating because by then, I was about halfway done with my wings because I was starving. Blah.
I think I would come back if I'm ever in the area again, but other than that, there isn't anything too special about this spot. Sorry, Charley!
First, the prices are way too high. Â Like the other reviewer said, it's Munster Indiana, not downtown Chicago.
My experience was terrible from the beginning. Â This is a restaurant/bar but I felt like I was at Romper Room. Â On a Saturday night at 7pm, young kids should not be running around the restaurant and jumping up and down in the booth screaming AND the wait staff should not be encouraging this behavior. Â Yes, a few of the servers were enticing these bratty kids to yell and jump around while the parents just sat there drinking. Â NICE! Â
If I wanted to dine in this type of atmosphere, I would have gone to Chucky Cheeses. Â
Needless to say, I finished my drink and didn't stay for dinner.
Charley Horse, clean up your act!!
Denis Savard and the Primanti Bros in Munster?.....not quite.....this new place, with locations in Tinley Park and New Lennox.. was originaly going to be called Denis Savard's Hall of Fame Restaurant and Ice Bar.....but tragic happenings on New Years Day turned it into something else altogether.....
located in the old Chalie's Ale House....the inside doesnt seem to have changed much..but the menu has....some good....some not...first the good stuff :
one of the winners is the *Pittsburgh style sandwich*...., having been a Steelers fan since it was beaten into me when i was little  :-)   and never having been .....i was excited to try a knock off on the Primanti Bros famous sandwich.....and it did not disapoint....for those not in the know.....your choice of meat, fries, slaw and tomatoes all on the same bread....i had the roast beef and it was most excellent......my friend had the Chicago Club, a basic turkey club with ham added, came with fries....not great not bad, its a club sandwich....fries ok
now the bad stuff : ok this is Munster, IN., NOT downtown Chicago...the prices here are insane ..sit at the bar and get chips and salsa? $5.00.....drive 1/4 mile down the street...you can get them FREE with much better salsa.......
$9 for cheesestix? Â $8 for a salad?? Â lettuce wrapped in gold? Â the burgers are all around $10 Â ....entrees can go from $17 for a grilled chicken breast to $20 for a 10oz steak..... and no kids menu at all so you will be paying full price for small appetites.....
they do have 1/2 off all burgers and appetizers on monday, so if i do go back it will be only then...
its nice to have a new dining option in town, but at the prices here, i think they will follow Charlies Ale House out the door
