Miner-Dunn Hamburgers

Ok,
    This is a qualified review, qualified in the fact that the 5 star rating is not necessarily for any one particular thing.  I mean, if your getting a steak, you go to Del Friscos or S&W.  If you want the best in dining atmosphere there are any number of places in NYC, Chicago, LA, or Dallas you can attend for amazing service and food.  If, however, you want a great hamburger with great service in a place that has not changed in 40 years than you need look no further than Miner-Dunn.  I mean, this place is just great.  They don't make any claim to be anything but a warm, friendly, modestly priced restaurant and they do it as good as anyone.  The food is, and always has been, solid.  The Onion Rings are utterly original and I have not had their like anywhere.  The Burger may be the best I have ever had and remains so each time I have it.  The fries are nearly always perfect and what can you say about a place that offers a little cup of Sherbet after the meal!!!   I have been coming here from 1974 when I was just old enough to walk and it has never disappointed.  If I can say only one thing about Minor-Dunn, it's that it makes me happy.  Now how many places can say that ??  For that, it gets every star!!!

I was a little thrown off by the fact that this isn't a drive-thru....I just guess I drove past so many times that I just assumed.  One of my coworkers, who is a local, has been telling me to go here for WEEKS now and I should have listened to him sooner.

I had a cheeseburger with onion rings on it.  It was GREAT!  I didn't realize that you have to ask for veggies separately, they don't just come on it automatically.  The burgers are hand-made, not frozen/pre-formed.  The french fries were also really good here.  And to top off your dinner, you can get orange sorbet, orange/vanilla swirl, or just vanilla.  Yum!  I haven't had orange/vanilla swirl since I was a kid!

I used to love Miner Dunn when I was younger.  However, the place is plain old dirty and rundown nowadays.  I tried it again last year and won't be there again unless they do a clean up of that store.
