Very bad Prime Ribs, it's tasteless, hard like a rock, very bad service there. Pass up this place , they should be out of business with the food they are selling. The owners of this place really don't care about their customers

We have passed Charlie Brown's so many times & always said we would give it a try.  Today was the day......

We enjoyed the salad bar; it was clean & there were plenty of choices, including 3 varieties of bread.

The parmesan-crusted chicken was delicious (and plentiful).  Hubby had a chicken/shrimp/steak skewer entree.  Unfortunately 1 shrimp was not cooked and the steak was kind of fatty.  He did enjoy the chicken & few shrimp that were cooked (yes, he should have called it to the server's attention).

Our service was very good.  We will, most likely return another time, as it was a nice meal and not too overpriced.

Tip:  One thing we have learned is to always question what is in food (i.e. scallions, which hubby cannot eat).  C.B. uses them in much of their food.  Our server made sure to find out for us.

If you're going to get a franchise steak that is decent, you. Might find it here. I'm not a steak lover, I rarely eat red meat, but since I came here with my grandma who had to use her nifty coupon of $10.00 off after you spend $40, we both went for the filet mignon.

I may have liked the steak so much because it is a rare treat in my book, but in all honesty, I could've just lived off of that salad bar. The selection in the salad bar is awesome, and it comes with just about every entree. After we finished our salads, we looked at our steaks and couldn't believe we still had a meal to conquer in front of us.

In the future I'll probably just stick to the salad bar due to its glory.

This place is horrible..... It's gone completely downhill! The service is ridiculously slow and the food is practically inedible. My mom had to send back her food twice and mine was tasteless with the hardest piece of bacon on it I almost cracked my tooth. Never coming back!

I was pretty disappointed in my food here. I had the prime rib and it was very very poorly done. The place is an absolute mass and the only saving grace is the salad bar. Do not go here if you're looking for a good steak, other place looks good like the chicken or even the fish.

This place SUCKS! I mean S-U-C-K-S! No good, stay away, ME THINKS NOTS!

We were sat down pretty quickly close to the bar. The waitress Alyssa was not friendly or welcoming at all, its like she was forcing herself to sound like she was nice and I seen right thru it! Acting is not for her. Anyways..

Menu offeres from seafood to chicken to obviously steaks, and we started off with the nachos supreme and when you check in you get a free firecracker shrimp which is shrimp drowned in a chiptole sauce. The nachos came out messy and that extra guacamole you put on it not worth the extra fee cause its literally just a spoonful on top of a nacho. The shrimp I didn't try cause it did not look at all like something I wanted to even smell.

Main dish, sesame ginger chicken with garlic mash and my boyfriend ordered the balsamic chicken with garlic mash. NOT GOOD AT ALL! & there was a whole leaf clover of garlic in my mash! REALLY. Couldn't eat the whole thing neither could my bf and he as you know from previous reviews the guy would eat anything cause he is not a person who would waste food.

Everything just sucked and the waitress did not make it any better neither with her lame attitude and there was a waitress here that looked like she would be delivering her baby any day and she was on the go and really nice too.

Oh btw theres a salad buffet, didn't even wanna get up cause it was not at all appeasing.

Never will go back. Not worth it, I rather go down to the CHECKERS down the road any day!

Extremely disappointed this time around. My husband and I have visited Charlie Browns quite a few times but this last visit was such a turn off that we decided to take it off our list of "good eats"...The service started out ok but then we were totally forgotten about. It took forever just to get our drinks. We ordered the Empanadas for the appetizer and it was soaked with oil and I think they forgot to stuff them. Hardly anything in the middle. It was like biting into something crunchy with oil oozing out. Yuck!!!! I ordered the French Onion soup. It was very salty and had no real taste to it. During my soup ordeal, I again asked for water and never received it. My husband ordered the RibEye and got the Strip Steak and then to top it off, they were trying to convince us that the steak was actually a Rib Eye. No way buddy!!! That steak was no Rib Eye. That was the straw that broke the Chef's back. We will not be returning to Charlie Browns anytime soon...

This was my first time here and it will be definitely be my last! .I was in the mood for a a nice juicy steak,  My girlfriend recommended this place and its pretty close to where i live so I decided to give it a shot. Not only was the steak cold and devoid of favor, it was hairy!!! I found a hair( NOT MINE) in it. I showed the waitress who apologized and went to get the manager. The manager to his credit, did try to make it right. He apologized, and offered to get me another steak, i informed him that one hair a day is my limit... he asked me if there was anything else I wanted and said replied yes I want my appetite back. He went on to explain that he didn't know how that happened since everyone in the kitchen wears a hat. I said well maybe its time for you to get them some new hats. He apologized again and then stated I didn't have to pay for the meal, like I needed him to tell me that....SORRY CHARLIE, I won't be  back...............

We can't all be experts in all we do. But when you have steakhouse in the name of your, I would hope you know how to properly cook a steak. I ordered the Dutchess Cut Prime Rib cooked rare. The meat came out, 45 mins later, dry pink, and tasteless. I will give you some leeway on how you interpret rare as I understand some restaurants don't want to run the risk of serving meat that is undercooked, for health and litigation purposes. But who serves a dry and gray to pink steak as rare??? I didn't bother saying anything as I knew our server who spilled honey all over our table and didn't bother cleaning it up, then walked past us for 45 mins knowing we hadn't been served yet while not saying a word updating us on the status of my meal, and then at the end took 10 mins to ring up a bill couldn't be bothered with serving our table on a slow monday night when the restaurant had only 4 tables being served. Free salad bar can only get you so far...even in Staten Island. Let's up our standards here people.

Charlie Brown's has the best salad bar I have seen since the old Cooky's Steak Pubs closed. They have a large variety of salads and relishes that can be a vegetarian meal. It is included with most entrees. I like the chicken or fish dishes which are very good, though a bit small. With the Farmer's Market Bar -I don't mind and I'm glad Charlie is back on the Island!

Visited this restaurant on a late Friday night. Place is clean, large, and with a nice decor. There was only a few patrons.

    Waitress was nice and attentive

I ordered charlies signature sirloin with crab cake and a porterhouse with lobster tail both medium rare.  Porterhouse was delicious tender well seasoned. The sirloin on the other hand was atrocious. The meat was grainy and dry. I had a hard time swallowing. I asked an exchange for ny strip which i got. It was ok still a little dry but acceptable. To be honest ny strip at a diner is better. Lobster tail was good very tasty. The crab cake on the other hand had mostly starchy filler with maybe 4 pieces of crab which wasnt even lump.

Bill came to 85 with tips

Dinner was ok. Overall would consider alternative before returning here.

What a dump I came here with some friends as more of an entertainment experience than for a good meal.  First of all this place is in the middle of nowhere.  The place is huge but there was almost no one there on a Friday night.  They started by bringing me out the wrong meal.  At the end of dinner they refused to split the check.  I've never been to place that wouldn't split the check.  An interesting adventure.

I would not step foot into this place ever again!  We used to frequent this establishment many times for many  years.  Lunch and dinner both.  We have invited friends and family to join us and had great times and good meals.  The joint closed down for a time and we thought it went out of business.  Low and behold a sign appeared "under new management".  So we tried again for old times sake,  It was late, like 9:30pm but still plenty of time to order a meal.  Not very busy at all at that time.  A few patrons at tables and a few at the bar.  I had my my wife and daughter with me.  We got seated right away and then that was it.  Plenty of staff on board and not even a menu placed in front of us.  No water, no "I'll be right with you", nothing.  After like 20 minutes of watching our waitress shake her buns and flirting to the table next to ours, where the two muscle heads with so much mouse in their hair, it should have been in the menu.  Still not even an acknowledgment.  We even saw the manager standing around in the shadows near the bar and kitchen.  You would think he would do a walk around.  Not a chance.  We never looked back, and got up and left the place, never to return.  This place should have stayed closed.  Next time I want a steak, I will be at Peter Luger's.  If I am with my family, any place will do, even Sizzlers.

I've been to this place a few times now, as my father-in-law seems to be a big fan. It's OK, not great, but OK. I am not a huge fan of chain restaurants, as it is. I mean, why would I be? I live in NYC, the world of amazing "hole in the wall" restaurants!

That being said, for a chain, it is not terrible. I've had a few different meals here, as I mentioned, and all meals were OK. Nothing to write home about, but OK.

The space is nice, rather large so you don't feel cramped, which is a plus. The lighting is not too bright, another plus. The service is good, I've never had a bad experience in that regard.

    The price is reasonable, also.

Other than that, I really have nothing else to say about Charlie Browns.

I took 6 employees here as an after Xmas lunch, to celebrate the employee committee that they all sit on.  The service was good; the girl who waited on us was very pleasant and attentive.  I was not impressed with the NY Strip I ordered.  Although the temp was correct, it left something to be desired in regards to taste and tenderness.  If they are going to try to pass this off as a Steakhouse, they need to do better with the steaks.  They can start by offerring more than 3 or 4 cuts.  The ambience was good, but all the tv's made it appear as more of a sports bar.

We had 8 people in our party. 3 entrees arrived first, missing one side. 5-10 minutes later, two more arrived, but were cold. One was sent back for reheating. Still no missing side. 5-10 minutes later, two more entree arrives but with an incorrect side dish. Still missing first side from 20 minutes ago. Had to ask why and was told it was missed. Got fries instead of waiting longer. Basically it took 30-45 minutes from between when the first entrees arrived until the last person got their food. Food was OK, but the whole experience was horrible. Service people didn't seem to care. I wish I had seen the earlier reviews of this place. I will not be going back nor will I ever recommend it to anyone.

Just plain ole EHHH. I love steak so if you can find a place that serves a good steak, I'll be there. Let's see, the first time we went, this was right when the place opened up, it was really good. They have an open salad bar, which is a nice feature since you never see that anymore. It reminded me of The Sizzler from back in the day. The next two times I ate there, it was less then memorable. The steak was just plain ehh and there was a lot of fat which I HATE. I've had delicious steaks from both Applebees's, that's right, and Outback. I'll stick with those two when I'm in need of a not so expensive steak.

this so far is the best food place i've been to here ever since i started staying in Staten Island. my roommates & i had our recent christmas eve dinner here. i think the trick here is to help yourself with the buffet salad bar (if what ur ordering includes ur pickings from the salad bar)---which in itself adds the best value for the money you'll spend here.

i must have been unclear w/my order for a glass of "house red wine" which turned out to be a mistake, as the waiter gave me a very expensive glass of wine (that cost almost 3/4 of the price of my main dish for the evening). but on the overall, service was OK.  btw, the grilled salmon that i had that night was so-so----it was smaller than what was shown in the picture on the menu LOL.

anyway, the place is well-designed, & looking like it has been around for some time now (it's been around since '66, if i recall it right).  i may just be back again to try their steaks---& will then update this review.

Hey. Been to this place before YEARS ago, and Im def wondering why I went back this time. Lol. The place was EMPTY for dinner service- I dont know how they stay open with so many other competitve restaurants on the Island. I ordered a White Russian to start. Got a glass of milk. I made the waitress take it back and off my bill. She said to me- "Oh this always happens when those bartenders make it". So I guess this is an everyday occurance. Then we ordered salad bar (that was the reason we went... I wanted salad bar and was too lazy to drive to Woodbridge to Ruby Tuesdays. That wont happen again!!). The salad bar was ok. Rubys is WAY better. Then we order chicken quesadillas and Chicken spring rolls. Both we subpar at best. I could make better quesadillas at home. After that, we had enough and left. The food was crappy and its a waste of $. They dont even have anything fun on the menu. No interesting appertizers or entrees. If you eat out at corporate places, youd be better served at Fridays, Chilis, Outback, Etc. WILL NOT RETURN.

Warning, I am only giving it 4 stars based on the salad bar, which is what I usually get as a main meal.  They have a very good and fresh salad bar that they always replenish that includes fresh and pickled vegetables, different breads (the raisin one is my favorite), several dressings, several noodle and rice salads and a dried nut and fruit section.  You can eat as much as you want.  For those who buy veggies in the supermarket, you know how pricy it can get.  The salad bar as meal costs around 11 bucks.

I have gone here with people that get the regular menu meal.  If you want to eat a lot, then this place is reasonable, although the quality of the meals are not up to par.  You can get a salad bar, meal with side for around 13 bucks.  They do not give you a lot of the sides, so if you are super hungry, you might want to order something extra.

The place is very spacious and comfortable.  They have one room that looks like a library and several huge booths where a group can sit.  They also have a nice size bar area where they offer bar specials at night.

The service is sporadic, so when you get your waitress, make sure you ask for everything under the sun before she disappears, although I have been known to go back to the kitchen to ask for things.

One side of warning, make sure you watch the people who replenish the salad bar.  They are very serious about their duties and will literally knock you down to get the job done.

UGH. I should have known better.
But I was on a date, he wanted to go here so I figured that I would at least give it a try as I had never been here before. (My common sense was worth it in the past.)

We both ordered steak (different cuts.) Mine came with a lobster tail.

I ordered my steak medium rare and it arrived bloody. So I sent it back. No lie, the amount of time that passed from the moment the waitress took away my undercooked steak, to when she brought it back: under two minutes. (not enough!) It was as if she took it, walked into the kitchen with it, and turned around and gave it back. It was still rarer then medium rare. My lobster was horrible. had no flavor or texture to it.

His fries were the only high point.

And the dessert: apple ala mode something. The apples were too sweet.

This is a promise; no matter who I am with, I will NEVER return here. EVER.

    Yukko.

Only reason for two stars is because it did not give me food poisoning. And the waitress was nice.

Okay.. I've been to Charlie Brown's 3 times in my life. The first time @this exact location was great and the salad bar was an excellent touch. Then, I went to a different location in New Jersey and it was disgusting but the service was friendly. Back to Staten Island, the service was nice. If your looking for something tasty- try the cordon bleu, it was excellent. The prices were reasonable also. Overall, it's a good choice if your looking to sit and relax and enjoy a great meal.

Wow, my Grandmother wanted to come here for mothers day. What could we say? Our dear Grandmother wants the family all together , everyone, near and far, to make their way to Charlie Brown's. She's never been there, but the name evokes images in her mind of her many trips to Beefsteak Charlie's (!?) years ago (to the spanish ear "Charlie Brown's" = "Beefsteak Charlie's").
All went well, cold beer, good wine, sweet drinks, lively conversation,... until the food arrived. This was prison food at its best. The stuffed salmon with garlic mashed potatoes that looked sooo good on the menu were served, each on separate plates, STACKED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER. The potatoes were of the boxed variety, and had that opaque-grey hue that comes from being "mixed" by "untrained hands".  The stuffed salmon was definitely bought frozen from some huge distributor, and the "rib-eye" looked the color of uncooked ham.
For these offenses, I do not blame these large chain restaurants so much as I blame the small, chef owned and operated places. These small kitchens, with their international cuisine, prepared fresh daily by expert hands, have ruined us for what in years past impressed and delighted us about the red lobsters and sizzlers of the world. That these big chains remain in business in this eat or be eaten restaurant environment amazes me.

    Eh.
We went on a Monday night, the place was half full.  We probably saw our waitress once after she took our order, which we were'nt sure she got correct in the first place.
    Salad bar was average.
The saving grace was that the prime rib was absolutely delicious.

i've never heard of this place until one day i go here for a 10 year old's birthday party. don't know why she would choose this place over Chuckie Cheese's.... but whatever.

first off, it's a horrible place for wheelchair access. we had a person in our party who needed to get around the tables and it was an absolute mad house. i'd understand if it were manhattan- where everything is small- but staten island.... you need to space your sh*t out accordingly. sheesh.

the salad bar is a complete jip. vegetarian options are joke. the alcoholic drinks were a disaster. the wait staff are mostly ghetto-ass workers who hate their jobs and have an attitude about everything.

I wanted to love it... I spent so many Sundays with my parents in Charlie browns steakhouse on sheepshead bay in Brooklyn as a kid before they closed down and were never to be heard or seen from again. So i was excited to reunite with my childhood favorite restaurant and fill up on simple but delicious and over sized portions of steak, seafood, and triple trips to the salad bar....but no such luck.
The service was spot on, atmosphere very warm and family friendly like I remembered it but it just doenst impress the way it once did. The salad bar is a mere puddle to the ocean of food it used to be and  the steak not worthy to be served at a "steakhouse" in my opinion...just so-so bland nothing special...omg so boring!!!

Its possible that I came out disappointed because I came expecting something more than but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone and there is no reason to be paying this much for mediocre food you can find cheaper elsewhere.

I've only been here twice but it's a fairly new location for this chain steakhouse so who knows how many more times I'll be there since the second visit definitely makes me crave!

The first time was a lunch visit.  I had the barbecue pulled pork sandwich.  The website describes it as "Slow-roasted pork and smokey BBQ sauce with sauteed onions and cheddar cheese on an onion roll."  It was only $6.99 and because it was on the Express Lunch menu, it came in less than 10 minutes.  I thought the sandwich was good, fairly messy but I think all pulled pork sandwiches can be categorized as messy.  However, I had a really good one at a TGIFriday's once and so I wasn't totally in love with it.  Maybe it needed a bit more BBQ sauce?  I'm sure I could have asked for some on the side because the server we had was definitely helpful and friendly.  Or maybe I just prefer tangier sauce in general.  The fries were great though.

I was with my mom and she had a baked scrod dish, served casserole style.  It's not on the menu online because it was a special.  I tried some and it was okay for a lunch but would not have been enough for a dinner because fish is so light.  It was a little watery though so something should have been done to fix that.

We normally never get dessert but that day we decided to splurge.  We got the CB's six layer chocolate cake.  It's not the kind of chocolate cake that I like.  I like dry and moist cake.  This was rich and had that wet cake-y texture, like it was trying to be fudgy.  It could just be preference but I wouldn't recommend this cake unless you really love chocolate.  The only good thing about it was that for the $5-ish price tag, it was HUGE!  Have you ever seen the movie Matilda?  There's one particular scene where The Trunchbull makes this kid Bruce eat an entire chocolate cake on stage in the auditorium.  This piece of cake looked like it came from that one!

Anyway, If this were the only visit, I'd give it only 4 stars because of the ambience, cleanliness, and great wait staff.  The food wasn't as great as it could have been.  However, my mom, little brother and I went again recently for dinner and I definitely had a better experience.  Mom and I both ordered off the Holiday Feast Menu.  We got the Holiday Shrimp Trio for only $12.  It was 18 shrimp prepared in 3 different ways.  We each had Nantucket style (basically fried shrimp served with cocktail sauce, a basic that I loved), mango (a little spicy, also with extra sauce, enjoyable because it was a different flavor than just cocktail sauce), and coconut (good for the different flavor but a little bit too coconut-y for me since I don't like coconut to actually taste like coconut).  The other choices were buffalo, cajun and spicy sesame and if you've seen my earlier review, I have a gastroenterologist ... I really shouldn't be eating spicy things!

With our dinner came the Farmer's Market salad bar or soup.  Mom had clam chowder while I went up to get salad.  What a great place to make your own salad!  Because so many people go to the bar, you know the items are fresh and you could tell once you eat it.  I've been to salad bars where the items have been sitting around and it's definitely not appetizing.  On my salad was: romaine lettuce (I loved that it wasn't iceberg), beets, broccoli, chopped olives, tomatoes, red onions, green pepper, mushrooms (unbelievably fresh and sliced thick, not like those pitiful thin slices that fall apart at other restaurants), shredded cheese, chopped liver and topped with crunchy noodle things.  I definitely enjoyed the texture and the ingredients weren't waterlogged (don't know if that's the appropriate term) so that was much appreciated.  I used balsamic viniagrette as my dressing because I love it.  I actually missed a section of the circular salad bar and as I was returning to my seat, I saw that there was more stuff (I missed the roasted red peppers!) and more dressings (there was an Asian style dressing I would have loved to try!).

I wanted to go back and get another plateful of salad after I ate a bit of my entree but I was too full!  I guess I'll have to wait and go back next time!  I'm very surprised that the salad bar was that great but I guess if they advertise it so much on their website, it has to live up to the name!

The prices are great.  What made that visit even better was that my mom joined the birthday club and she got $10 off her entree.  We could've gotten dessert but we were stuffed and each had leftovers to bring home and enjoy the next day!
