Besides having an extensive sandwich and salad menu paired with homemade soups, I like this place because of the community atmosphere. It's a family run cafe where the employees and owners know and chat with the customers, and the customers usually know each other as well. The personal touch in a world of chain stores and restaurants is awesome. Also, I drink my coffee black and their coffee is good and keeps its taste even as it cools. This is an establishment worth supporting, and it won't even cost you very much to do so.

Good for vegetarians and carnivores alike. May I suggest the portabella mushroom grilled panini?

This is the best little coffee shop in Mount Clemens (possibly the only one). The owner is involved with quite a few things in and around the Clem in addition to Che Cosa, which is a huge plus for me.

The coffee is very good and I highly recommend listening to the barista. I haven't been led wrong yet. The set up inside the coffee shop is very different from your typical Starbucks. The front window is full of stuff that totally reminds me of Italy (for some reason...) I don't know why exactly, but that's my thought as I look in.
Another plus is the ability to walk through toward the back and right in to Max & Ollies.

Che Cosa is a definite stop for anyone coming through Mount Clemens. Sit and chill for a while and enjoy the local art on the walls.

An above average coffee house. The expresso and the cappuccino made with freshly roasted coffee beans give a unique flavor. It is the place to go for a home cooked lunch consisting of homemade soup and a variety of sandwiches. The surroundings are comfortable and I enjoy a coffee with a book.  Free Wifi is available.

This is the only decent coffee left in the South Eastern Michigan area...unless you like the taste of a burnt vehicle tire, in which case, go to Starbucks.

Tasty sandwiches as well, and when they say the soup is homemade, they actually mean it. Give it a shot, especially during the day. You won't be disappointed!

Could be a nice coffee house, but atmosphere isn't good and coffee isn't either.

The only time downtown Mount Clemens has life is during the day. There are a few restaurants and medicore-to-terrible bars that stay open late but the foot traffic seems to have dwindled steadily over the past 5 years. When the city is actually alive, there are a few places to eat/drink coffee/do things you would normally do during the day that I consider to be diamonds in the rough. Che Cosa is one of them.

I started going to Che Cosa in 2003. Not a lot has changed since then aside from the smoking ban. The walls are covered with various art pieces and change out depending on the week/month. Once or twice a year some of the local elementary students have art posted which I think is pretty cool. Nowadays when I'm in the shop I have my headphones on but they have a steady stream of oldies playing over the speakers each day. The staff is super friendly. All of the food and homemade soups I've tried there are fantastic.

I feel the need to critique just a bit so it doesn't seem like I'm a complete Cosa slappy. I will say the major knocks I have on the place include 1) the worst house salad ingredient combination I've ever experienced in my life and 2) a few more tables/less couches. Neither are a major problem just based on the fact I no longer get the salads and it hasn't been packed to capacity yet while I've been in during the day.

I used to work at a neighborhood coffee shop many years ago & Che Cosa is about as close to that atmosphere than any other place around.  That's a good thing, too.  The staff knows you and takes a genuine interest in where you've been.  And at a coffee house, 80% of the experience is the atomosphere in my estimation.

The other 20% is the coffee and food.  Che Cosa delivers on both.  The house blend is roasted in house and has a fresh, chocolately flavor & a creaminess that is not present in many other coffees.  The sweets are made in house (for the most part) and so are the soups.  Not sure if John bakes his own bread, but the cibatta rolls are always warm when the sandwiches come to the table.

This afternoon I ate a cinnamon muffin loaf.  Moist inside, slightly chewy outside with lots of big cinnamon flavor - a real winner.  Also, John has been bringing in cupcakes from a local woman that are just dynamite - both the chocolate ganache and coconut versions are top notch.  If they're there, grab one of the little morsels of deliciousness - you won't be disappointed.

Oh, and they have WHOLE milk, which is a HUGE plus for me.  I was recently at another establishment where I asked if they had whole milk and was assured that they did.  When I saw the latte being poured, it was 2%! Not the same.  Being lied to sucks, but I'm not lying when I say Che Cosa is great - check it out!

This is a great little coffee shop in the middle of downtown Mount Clemens (in fact, the only one that ever seems to be open!)

I adore this place for its earthy tones and extremely comfortable interior. I've literally fallen asleep in the awesome couches in the back while reading!

They have really great coffee, and they're one of the few places that knows how to handle soy milk in coffee drinks. I'd suggest getting one of their soy selections because soy milk, like a lot of things, is a delicate art, and they have it down! If you're not into soy, then I'd suggest going delicious and simple with a steamer.

And while you're at it, grab one of those huge cookies!

One asset that Che Cosa has over all the other coffee houses in Detroit (With the only exception being the Grind in Wyandotte) is its location. Che Cosa is a block away from the river! So if it's nice out, you can grab something from CC, walk one block east, and wander around the length of the wooden dock while sipping your favorite drink. It's a very relaxing way to spend your time in Mt. Clemens!
