Chicago Sams is a great little bar & grill. Don't go there for the liquor, so can't comment on it. But, the food is fantastic. They have the best wings that I've ever had. The sandwiches are also very good. But... the wings are unmatched. If you go between 4-7 PM on Mon-Fri, the appetizers are half price, so a dozen wings are $4.00 instead of $7.99. It is extremely loud, but each booth has their own TV that they can tune to any station, and they have their own volume control. The service is very good, but very slow. That is to say, the waitresses are wonderful and very sweet, but it can take 10 minutes to get drinks. This is a great place to go if you have an hour and a half to kill. Perfect for a fun date night!
Review Source:Okay, here we go. Â My sister lives in Suffield so I've been to Chicago Sams a few times when I'm in CT visiting family. Â I've never been particularly impressed, but since there hasn't been anything noteworthy to report (until now, that is) I've never written a review. Â It's Thankgiving day and my San Fran born and raised boyfriend needs to see the 49er's game, so off to Chicago Sams we go. Â In the spirit of the holiday we're both wearing Turkey hats. Â After fighting our way through the herds of people waiting outside of Best Buy (next door), we find a table right by a large TV and we open a tab with the bartender. Â A man sitting at the bar comments on our hats and gives me a thumbs up. Â We enjoy our beverages, and I go back to the bar to order another round. Â I wait....and I wait.....and I wait. Â Now, I worked in restaurants all through high school and college, and thanks to a really shitty economy, I even worked at one for a year after I graduated from college. Â In fact, I think it should be a requirement- everyone needs to work in the service industry at some point to gain an appreciation of just how hard it is. Â But when 3 people came up to the bar after me (just steps away from me), and got served before me, I started to get a little irritated. Â So I moved over to where the others had stood thinking maybe that was the trick. Â The man who commented on my turkey hat noticed what I was doing, made eye contact with me and chuckled to himself. Â I'm completely out of ear-shot of the bartender, and I jokingly say to the guy across the bar, "Does he not see the turkey hat?!" Â I'm 5'9" and wearing a turkey hat...I don't exactly blend in. Â Then the bartender comes over and I order some drinks. Â Bartender turns around to get the drinks and the dude across the bar starts getting loud..."YEAH! Â You kind of stick out with that Turkey hat on!"...."It's not you, they're just busy!"...I'm not saying anything at this point, but the bartender hears all this, and about 30 second later he turns around, slaps my credit card and receipts down on the bar and says (real snide) "Hey, Amanda sweetie, you have yourself a GREAT night, all right?" Â Oh buddy, come on, are you really that sensitive? Â That was a real d-bag move. Â Not that you really threw any kind of a wrench in our plans, because we stuck around and ordered from a cocktail waitress who was very friendly, and who we tipped very well. Â Based on my experience with the bartender, I wouldn't recommend this place. Â Leaving the bartender out of the equation, Chicago Sams is just an average bar in a strip mall. Â If you decide to go, be sure to handle the bartender with kid gloves!
Review Source:Chicago Sam's, for what it is, is a decent sports bar in a town that lacks most any. Â Situated within the Best Buy/Kohl's Shopping Plaza (aka the place that used to have a Caldor, if anyone remembers Caldor) across the street from the Enfield Mall, it's your standard bar food place. Â They have Golden Tee, because I think it might be a law in sports bars that you have to have Golden Tee.
On the plus side for these guys is the TV situation: Â as in, they are everywhere. Â You cannot escape the TVs. Â In fact, they have even set up a system where one can see which NFL game (or other game) will be shown on the TVs that weekend: perfect for those individuals who want to watch a specific game and don't want to always have to search for the right bar TV to find it.
Food is decent as well. Â I ordered some Teriyaki Popcorn Chicken and a Taco Salad. Â The chicken was less popcorny, and more just like small chicken tenders, and the taco salad could have focused a little bit less on the jalapenos, but both were decent, all things considered.
Overall, a decent place for what it is, and decent for those people who don't want to cross the border to find a sports bar in MA.
Chicago Sams is were I would go if I wanted to see people from High School I thought I would never have to see again.
Do not waste your time on this place, unless you like watchiing 50+ TV's at once. The food is as typical as a spring breaker with herpes.
The 2 stars if for the beer selection.
Chicago Sam's is where the Enfield locals go to meet up. Â The bar/restaurant is completely not worth a trip longer than 2 minutes or so. Â
On the up side, they do have a good selection of beers; and if you can cram yourself into Chicago Sam's on a special night, they are usually pretty good ($2 bud/bud lights on Red Sox V Yankees games). Â They also supply BBC Steal Rail, which is one of my favorite local brews around.
On the other side, as stated above, it is usually crowded. Â The management also has a silly tradition of blocking off the back of the bar for private parties, that would be fine if the area they were blocking off wasn't the home of Golden Tee! Â Also, the food is horrible. Â There has not ever been something that I ate there that was slightly remarkable, not the Philly Cheese Steak nor chicken fingers. Â
Go there if you want a mini high school reunion, or if you are shopping at the adjacent Best Buy. Â Otherwise skip it.
