Went here for lunch and got the "3 roll lunch special" You can pick 3 sushi rolls you want (out of a list of about 15) and get a bowl of Miso soup for 10.95. Really good deal. The sushi was above average and the pieces of fish they used were fresh and quite large. Overall, I was impressed!
Review Source:I've been forever skeptical of ordering sushi from a fusion/serves-every-type-of-Asian-cuisine restaurant, but Iron Chef does it well and for a more than fair price.
Quality is consistent and the variety is ample. Not feeling sushi? They'll do anything from Kung Pao chicken to Pad Thai.
Vegetarian and vegan friendly.
Place is small and gets very busy so plan on a little wait or call ahead for take-out.
We just had to do it. I challenge all you fearless, raw fish sashimi/sushi crazies to do this "bar-hopping" experience in good-ole Longmeadow, MA. I mean how odd is it to find two full sushi bars directly across the street from each other? Chinatown, perhaps, but in Longmeadow, MA?? Last night (a Friday eve) we went for it. First, to the bar across the street - ordered house hot sake, split a sushi/sashimi combo plate, finished with tamago (egg). Everything was super-fresh, good temp, texture was awesome- except for the octopus (way too tough). Tamago was ok. Time to cross the street to Iron Chef for my first encounter. First impression...definitely a much more cozy, intimate space. Â We sat at the bar and ordered a round of hot sake. Iron Chef wins this round. Their house sake was more well rounded. Next up was a plate of the daily specials- live scallop and oyster. Meh on both. They were fishy and and they really shouldn't have been. Could have bounced the oysters into my mouth. We also tried their tamago and found it to be too sugary for our taste. The owner/manager at some point came over and gave us a complimentary bowl of steamed edammame. Really nice touch. So what does this mean? I don't really know as I wasn't very scientific about it, but it was loads of fun and I intend to do it again (and again). If you try the Longmeadow sushi-bar-hop challenge, please report back!
