You know your expectations are low when your friend is on his fifth, half-buzzed call looking for places that still serve alcohol at 12:15 on a Sunday night in Agawam, MA. You know your expectations drop a few more points when the bartender on-duty picks up the phone and says "Hu Ke Lau!" by means of salutation. And you know, you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel when the Sam Adams you were served expired 4 months ago.

Yeah, the beer was old and kinda sour. So were the patrons.

Sure, its a townie bar. Every town has one. Or two. Or fifty.

The bartender is friendly and laid-back. The patrons are too drunk to pay you much attention after the scrutinizing once-over when you walk in the door and they (correctly) deduce one of these things just doesn't belong. (That would be you.) The prices are pretty low which means you may get more than a few trips to the grubby latrines. And they do appreciate your patronage as is evidenced by the "Thank you for drinking" poster over the bar.

First choice? Nah.
First choice on a Sunday night when you need a drink and nothing else is open? Yah.
