Chicano Perk Cafe y Cultura

This place is closed now, the other location is off of National Ave I believe. It's really too bad because they had delcious coffee, lot's of fresh tasty food and some interesting books and Mexicana art and apparel. Oh well,, check out the other location from their website, they close early but it's fair trade and locally owned!

I've only been here once and I love it!  It is a great spot to study or to just hang out.  They have comfortable seats which make you feel like staying there forever.  The staff are very friendly.  They have a cool outside seating area too.

For a healthy dose of caffeine and Chicano/a culture, stop by Chicano Perk. Rene Guzman & Ildi Carrillo, the owners and masterminds behind the Perk, deserve a medal or something for opening this place.

They have  monthly art shows featuring amazing Chicano/a art, a weekly bilingual open mic every Wednesday, live Latino music and they're always behind the current struggles of la raza AND gay rights.

The Perk is for the conscious coffee buyer. For those who don't care about anything but the buzz, keep on going to Starbucks.
