Coopersmith's has an amazing location, great atmosphere and a wide selection of beers. About five years ago, the vegetarian food was really good, but no longer. What's particularly disappointing is that their menu lists a "homemade black bean burger" and then the description again mentions that it's made right there. When I asked the waiter, he said it's not. Nice. I ordered a portabella sandwich that was soggy as a swamp. Coopersmith's poolside is great, but I think I'll go elsewhere for food.

Great service, great food. Lamb burger, buffalo burger and chicken salad .... all excellent.

I had pretty low expectations for this place, if I'm being honest. I was expecting giant touristy brewpub with mediocre-at-best everything. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the food was pretty good, the beer was okay (not great, but okay), and the service was friendly. We sat o the patio, which was nice for people watching. Ordered some beer tasters (Kolsch and Hefe are nice if you're looking for a nice light beer, Punjabi Pale was pretty good although not super hoppy). Hubs had the Black and bleu burger , which was pretty amazeballs (love when a restaurant cooks a burger propertly), I had the Hobgobbler which was quite tasty. Service was friendly.

In conclusion - if you're in Fort Collins wandering around, and are looking for a place to grab some food and beers and relax for a bit, this is a great option!

The new menu is so limited and the noise level so loud that we'll not be back.  This was THE place to bring out of town guests, but no longer.  Just to reiterate, the new menu is really disappointing and so limited, why the four people who were in charge of the menu would want to put their names on it is beyond me.

We had a very nice meal on the patio with our dogs (outside the fence).  For appetizers we started with the artichoke dip served in a nice bread bowl and the warm pretzel.  I had the fish & chips and I tasted a little sampling of everyone's food including the brisket sandwich and lamb pie.  I'd say the stars of the show were the delicious basket of fries, hand-made sodas (I tried the ginger ale) and the mead.  The mead I would say is on a very high level with a delightfully high alcohol content.  Overall everything I tasted and consumed was a cut above average.  File under gastropub.  Highly recommended.

Awesome service..awesome food and great beer!! I WILL be back...my company is based out of Ft.Collins and this will definitely be a stop when I'm in town at corporate. The blue cheese burger was to die for!!! Wish I could find a place like Cooper Smiths near me in California!!!  Try them...you will not be dissappointed!

The food here is bad. Way bad. Really, don't even bother. Well, maybe a pretzel if you're hungry, but be warned the nacho cheese that accompanies even this safe little appetizer will be atomic orange and have the consistency of Elmer's glue.

That said, my husband and I love this place! The beer is where it's at - I don't think they have a bad one. CooperSmith's chile beer is probably the best I've tried. The pool hall is also pretty chill. Friendly crowd, not too crowded. I am also wondering at how long this place has been around due to the no eating or smoking over the pool table signs over every table.

It is a little touristy on the restaurant side, but the pub side is a nice place to visit for a beer and a few rounds of pool.

Had the chili beer. Delicious! It's spicy and tastes exactly what you would imagine a chili beer to taste like.

We ordered the wild game sausage sandwich and the devil's backbone buffalo burger. Both were delicious.

I actually think this place deserves to be rated higher.

If you're visiting Fort Collins, don't miss having lunch or dinner at CooperSmith's Brewing. If it's a nice day, it's well worth the wait to sit outside on their patio on Old Town Square and people watch (and often listen to live music) while you eat and have a beer. We especially enjoy their English pub food like fish & chips, bangers & mash. and Highland cottage pie. There are usually twelve beers to choose from, plus a mead, in-house brewed cream soda, root beer, and ginger ale. Their beer samplers are reasonably priced and generous - why not try several of their offerings?

My first trip to Ft Collins was a great one (June 2011). My wife's cousin took us brewery hopping that day with a mid hop at Coopersmith's Poolside for some tasters and a slice. The pizza experience was awesome. Seriously great choices to put on your slice. I look forward to grabbing another slice when I go up for the Brewers Fest this coming weekend.

The beer was all distinctive and flavorful, but rather flat (English style). The green chili beer was epic! Truly spicy.

FANTASTIC pizza. As a Ft.Collins local, I'd argue that it's the best in town. The staff is very friendly, and the food is reasonably priced.

Right in the middle of old town, a great microbrewery with nice pub food.

Their IPA is lovely and their burgers large and juicy accompanied with plenty of fries. All the dishes looked pretty good but we were craving burgers. Their chipotle sauce and hot peppers burger was delicious and we shared a side salad with a creamy cucumber wasabi dressing that was really yummy.

Place is quite large and busy but staff manage to be very quick and are friendly

This place closes at 2am and is your traditional college bar.  Full menu and all.  This beer was water and cant really say anything good about this place.   So like my mama said, if you can't say anything nice at all then don't say it.   So I'm done.

Went with a group of 10 colleagues for dinner last week and overall it was a good time. Service was very good, the beer was good as well (unlike some brewpubs I've been to around the country), and they had nice pool tables.

The food was more on the so-so level. Nothing was bad, but nothing food-wise that would on its own merits would make me want to return. But giving it 4 stars as I doubt food is anyone's stop priority when choosing Coopersmiths.

For a brewery 5 stars; love the beer keep coming back for it- but the food really does suck, had their asian chicken salad, which literally tastes like card board- I really wanted to like this place and have ordered something different the last 10x I've been there, best thing I got was the buffalo chicken wrap, which was probably a 4 star--- hoping they update their menu because now we just eat elsewhere before we go there... to drink the amazing beer :-)

    Beer Stop 12
    ---

CooperSmith's is okay. CooperSmith's seems to be targeted towards tourists and it certainly feels like there was a ton of tourists when I was there.

Looking past this, I tried quite a few of the beer here. I wasn't really impressed with any of them - nothing really would make me consider going back here.

If you are new to the craft beer world, CooperSmith is a great place to visit. They have a ton of different beer style here that you can try until you find a style you like.

Oh, CooperSmith's, why can't I quit you? I've tried, I really, really have, but find myself playing pool, eating your sometimes burnt pork nachos, and imbibing in a perfect green chili beer almost every time I find myself downtown.  I'll never forget last summer when we shared a Watermelon beer together.  I had you fill up a growler for me.  It was freakin' awesome.

Sure, your staff is hit or miss (more than likely the former) but I've always enjoyed the chill feeling of the pool side for a game of eight ball and some tunes.

What was that, Coopersmith's, you'd like me to come back again soon?  You got it

There are some things that are quintesentially FoCo.  Coopersmith's is as good a representative of craft beer and good food as one could be provided to showcase what Fort Collins is known for.  There's two sides that each attract their respective demographics very well.  The dining side is visually appealing and there's plenty of seating so you'll rarely have to wait for a table.  The pub side has lots of pool tables, shuffleboard, ping pong and KILLER pizza!

The service is always friendly and some servers are better than others, but the food usually comes out in a reasonable time with notable quality standards.  I usually get a consistantly good meal and their beers are good as well.  They have their standard ales that are always on tap, which are good and clean of any off-flavors (usually).  I tend to try their seasonal beers and others options that aren't always offered with my expectations met or exceeded.

Overall, this is a great place to go for ANY occasion.  Dinner night out with the family - Beer and games with friends - A place to cozy up to a bar just to kill some time.  I highly recommend!

    Cheers!

Forget the OK beer (and especially the dry cider): Vegetarians, don't miss the homemade spicy black bean burger!

I'm an avid veggie burger fan, and this one was really unusual -- rice, corn, spices and bell pepper that crumbled apart onto my plate. It comes with a flavored mayo and a side of guacamole, and I devoured every messy bite.

I live out of state and am disappointed I won't get to order this one again!

Great patio on pub and pool sides. We chose the pool side and sat outside.  They offer samples of all their beers before you order one. The server was great in suggesting we sample some of the more expensive beers before just jumping in a and ordering.  They have a solid, but pretty standard line up.  The hot pepper beer was interesting, but I definitely wouldn't want any more than a sampler of it.  The IPAs weren't my favorite even though I'm a hop-head.

We really enjoyed the pizzas.  We tried one with chicken & peppers and another with ricotta and veggies.  The crust was buttery and delicious, exactly what we needed to compliment the beers.

CooperSmiths had a nice pub feel-- cozy and laid-back, but clean. I enjoyed the newspaper-like menu. They had a tasty variety of options. I was pleasantly surprised that they actually had sarsaparilla soda instead of just putting "sarsaparilla" on the menu and serving plain ol' root-beer. I ordered the beef medallions medium-rare, but they looked like they were cooked a little past that. The sauce served with the medallions was decent, but could use a little more kick. The potatoes and steamed broccoli served on the side were nothing to remember. The food may not have been mind blowing, but it was decent for a pub. It's also one of the few restaurants that stay open on Mondays at Fort Collins. Don't go for the food. Go to have a good time with friends.

The service, however, didn't impress me. Our waitress was not attentive at all. It took her forever to get our order. She never once came by to ask if we needed anything else during our meal. My group and I were done with our meal for a good 10-15 minutes before she came by to check up on us.

CooperSmiths is one of the first places I tried when I first arrived in Fort Collins, and now it's become an old friend. I've been to both the pub side and the pool side, both have excellent service. I've never come to play pool (I suck), but I do enjoy the food and drinks.

CooperSmiths is technically one of Fort Collins' own breweries since they make their own beer, so if you're coming through to try the local fare, don't leave this location off your list! They have a few featured items on their menu, but be sure to talk with your server about their other options. I'm a big fan of the Horsetooth Stout, but their lighter beers are good too.

The food is greasy and delicious, the perfect complement to your beer. I always get the pub chips with my entrees, they're tasty little potato wedges that are great when dipped in ranch dressing. The fish & chips are good, very greasy. I'm a big fan of their black bean burger, though last time I ordered it I was disappointed by how well done it came out. At one point in time they had a chicken pesto sandwich, but I didn't see it on the menu last time I was there so they might have removed it. Their side salads are good too! Simple, but delicious.

It can get a bit crowded and loud, especially on weekend nights. Sometimes if one side is busy you can go to the other side. Last time I went the pub side was nuts, so we just walked over to the pool side and were seated immediately.

I love where CooperSmiths is located. On a nice night, be sure to take your time walking around the plaza! Hopefully you'll get to hear some live music, or at least get in some good people watching.

I came here while on a brewery tour through the front range for lunch and a quick sampling of everything they make. Their sandwiches and burgers were very good. The server was one of the best I've ever had. Not only did he know the food, but he also was extremely passionate about the beer and knew everything there was to know about CooperSmith's.

The beers are very good as well. CooperSmith's has the honor of producing the only chile beer that I really love in Sigda's Chile beer. We were so sad we didn't take a growler home after visiting! The restaurant is located in a great little area in the city and is really easy to find (just look for the big CooperSmith's logo on the storing tanks outside the place!). It's very pretty on the inside as well, with wood all over the place and a very cool, old fashioned bar.

I was totally excited about this place. I took my sister and mom here for dinner (on the dining side) and we had a good experience.

Food and service (dining side): Great. Food was good. Service was good. The green chili beer? HOLY YUM!

Service (bar on dining side): We could tell the dining was closing, so we went over to the bar and the waitress made sure we knew they were normally closing up by then (even though the internet said it didn't close until midnight). She ignored us the whole time and made us feel like total squatters -- and we had ordered drinks and dessert for my sisters' birthday. Trust me, we would've gone next door to the pool side, but my sister wasn't turning 21 until midnight -- which I explained to her. As it was, there were several other people there. As a previous waitress, her service and attitude was totally inexcusable.

Food and service (poolside): All good things to report here. I would love to come back with my husband and a group of friends. Bartender was so nice and spot on the whole time. As a 25-year-old young professional, it was perfect.

Without that dining-side bar experience, it would've been 5 stars. Without our first dining experience and poolside experience, it'd be a 1 star.

I was here in mid December for lunch during the week. I think the food looks better than it tastes. I got a dirty martini which was good but not great- I prefer spicier. Maybe you are better off here with a beer. The garden salad with salmon that I ordered looked great but the dressing was horrible. I ordered a side of balsamic dressing. It was thick and gross and didn't taste like balsamic. Food came fast and service was decent. This is a large place in a nice area but food really was nothing special from my experience.

This place was awful. I called ahead 40 minutes in advance for 8 people to celebrate my 21st birthday, when we got there, we still waited for 45 minutes to be seated. The waitress skipped people on ordering drinks, and my first alcoholic drink she brought, she spilled all over my brand new dress and didn't even apologize. I have never experienced such horrible service anywhere in my life. On top of that, they didn't cook our food to what we had asked for. We were going to complain to the manager, but we had enough already and didn't want to spend another second in that place. I'd highly recommend going anywhere else, McDonald's even had better service then this place.

This place defines "something for everyone."

It is FoCo so they do have there own lineup of craft beers, and they are tasty. You MUST try the green chili beer, it's awesome!

The menus is pretty extensive, and the portions are no  joke. Mostly pub grub, but some solid entrees. Last time in a bunch of us split pizza.

Pool, ping pong, and shuffleboard! I dig it.

I dislike that one poor experience often times will completely turn you off to an otherwise respectable local business. However, this is exactly what happened to me at CooperSmith's Brewing. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar for dinner and in the end, I would tip $2 on a $30 tab as 1) we were greeted tardily 2) we were never spoken to again after we ordered 3) my beer glass was empty for the last half of my meal 4) it was difficult to get my tab, and when I did to get the bartenders to take my payment and 5) our food was not as we asked for i.e. no sauce. Old Town Fort Collins is jam-packed with lunch and dinner options and I'd recommend going elsewhere to avoid similar poor service.

A large group of us recently ate here on our brew tour of FoCo. I had been here back in college and was stoked to see that not a lot has changed. The back building with the pool is identical.

For food I had a burger, which wasn't stellar, but I wasn't expecting anything out of this world. I did reminisce on their green chili beer, which tastes exactly as it sounds. It has a mild green chili flavor that adds a nice variety into the mix. I also learned that they have a full bar. A friend of mine ordered this drink that tasted exactly like a cherry limeade slush from Sonic that was delicious (and yes it contained alcohol!).

Coopersmith's is a pretty chill place to come play some pool or grab some good pub food and enjoy a local handcrafted brew.

I really enjoy going here often for a beer on Saturday or Sunday with the Wife.  The atmospher is relaxing, there is great bar food and the beer is always cold with a diverse selection.  The service here is better than average, hence the 4th star.  Remember that FT Collins!

    A-OK in my book.

I have only been here one time and had only been here for drinks with friends, so I can't speak the food at all, just beer and atmosphere.

As for the atmosphere, I thought it was nice, nothing to fancy, but it was comfortable, and had great outside seating for a town that usually has nice weather.

The beer I found to be pretty similar.  Nothing to fancy, but it was decent for what it was.  I thought the selections were pretty boring, in a town full of breweries that has a lot of fun unique beers such as sours, barely wines, Belgian styles, barrel aged, etc.  I found their selection to be pretty boring, but the beers I did try were decent for what they were.

I would go back, I was certainly not turned off, but it isn't a primary destination.

Enjoyed a stout with my chili rubbed beef medallions, mashed potatoes and asparagus! Yum! Everyone's food in my group looked good and was good...no complaints from our group of 17!

Very busy place, yet we were seated in a nice spot for a group and the noise level was such we could hear each other talk to one another.

Plenty of beers to choose from and these are their own brews.

    Good service.

I love a pub, especially those who brew their own beer (easy to find in this town)! Coopersmiths has not failed to impress each of the three times of day I've been: lunch, dinner and late night.

They have great food...I've had the pizza, burgers, BEER (if you're adventurous, try the green chile beer - yum), appetizer/munchies and salads. The waitstaff is always very friendly and attentive. It can get quite loud, but honestly if you're looking for a quiet dinner, you probably should avoid a brew pub. Seriously.

I love this place and everyone I've recommended it to has agreed. Enjoy!

Fort Collins is to beer what Napa Valley is to wine.

And of all the Breweries in the state, this is my top pick. Its right in the heart of downtown Fort Collins, with great outdoor seating in view of the main pedestrian street, which basically provides the entertainment for the night.

The beer is pretty amazing and this place has tons of it. Sigda's Green Chile beer is delicious and highly recommended. The Not Brown Ale is very flavorful while remaining light bodied. I'm not a huge fan of IPAs but the punjabi is even worth trying, and is not as bitter as other IPAs.

Of course I came here for the beer, but remained here past complete inebriation on account of the delicious food! The Red Feather Fingers were beyond satisfying, and for the first time EVER! I found a chicken strips appetizer that is actually a good portion. Plus the Szechwan honey dipping sauce made the plate. The Brew House Wings, teriyaki style were the best! The best Jerry!! Gorgonzola dipping sauce...no contest...the fish and chips....best I've ever had... the caramelized onion steak sandwich...forged by the devil himself and I sold my soul to have it. Cooper smith's... life changing. Ok maybe I am exaggerating a bit but a feeling of paralysis is creeping upon me just knowing I am no longer in the vicinity of this Heaven on earth. It was soooo good...or maybe I was just sooooo drunk. Either way I think I remember having a great time.

    Coopersmith's Albert Damm Bitter:

Like the name would suggest, rather bitter, though not the flavorful bitterness one might find in a PA. Initially a bit watery, but the hops and malt kick in after a second. A tartness is present on the swallow.

Poured a medium brown color with big white head that lasted and had creamy walls of lace.  The aroma was slightly woody with earthy and herbal notes, biscuits and freshly baked bread.

The taste followed with a mild but watery taste. Nutty with woody notes, earthy elements and a slight herbal note to balance. Bitter finish.

Oveall a nicely balanced and drinkable beer.

We did an impromptu tour of the breweries up north, and Coopersmiths was our first stop.  It was pretty packed, but the host managed to seat us immediately, and he was very friendly.  We were greeted quickly and brought water, and I also asked for a glass of their house-made root beer while we picked our selections.  The root beer was extremely strong in flavor, the first few tastes were fine but after that my tongue went numb.  I felt as if I had sucked on 20 root beer hard candies.

The beers we chose were the wheat, the Blanche du Fort, the Not-Brown, and the Chili beer.  Of all of these, the brown was my favorite, but I wasn't too crazy about the rest.  The wheat had a heavy taste of banana, which I despise personally, but my girlfriend didn't care for either.  There were a few that looked good that they were out of, but we moved on following this 4 pack.  We didn't eat here, and we didn't look at a lunch menu, but I saw a couple of dishes brought past that looked like the standard brewery fare.

This was my least favorite of the stops, but I didn't have the opportunity to try more than those four.  There is a lot of competition in Fort Collins, but I'd be willing to try another couple of their beers if someone had a favorite recommendation.

During my recent visit to Fort Collins, I asked a number of locals where I should go to grab a pint and a bite to eat.  More often than not, the response I got was Coopersmith's.  So after hitting up a few "must-see" joints first, I relented and poked my head in here late in the week with my coworker.

As per usual, I had to get a taste of their brews, so I ordered a flight of four (you pick 'em!).  Nothing was terribly impressive; the lighter beers were quite watery and the darker brews were pretty pedestrian in terms of memorability.  Perfectly fine, but nothing worth going out of your way for.

As for the food, I ordered a chicken, brie, and caramelized onions sandwich.  Now this was tasty!  Anytime I see brie on a sandwich I'm automatically drawn to it.  And the onions gave it a nice kick.  I really enjoyed this!

Coopersmith's is a lovely little spot tucked away off of the hustle and bustle of College Ave.  Excellent service, good food, but mediocre microbrews.  Aside from the last point, I really enjoyed this place.  I would come back for a bite to eat and maybe try my hand at the pool hall side.

We had onion rings, beef strogenoff, root beer float, and ginger ale. Everything was pretty tasty, although the ginger ale was watered down a bit. You might have to walk if you park, since it's hard to find a spot close.

If you can, sit outside on a nice day, but if you don't want to wait for a table, go during a down time or just eat inside.

I think this is a true testament to Coloradoeans' love for bland generic food!

We recently went on a Fort Collins brewery tour and decided to go to Cooper Smith's for dinner and a beer. After taking a look at their vastly over-priced menu, I opted for the hot wings ($10). As a hot wing fanatic, I was extremely disappointed with the soggy sauce-drenched wings I got. Also, these wings had sesame seeds in the breading, which I thought was pretty gross.

My friends got the Ring of Fire burger ($10), a standard pre-shaped frozen burger that tasted exactly like every other burger you've had at a heat-and-serve restaurant, and the Brisket ($10), which I can absolutely guarantee was not made on in their kitchen, and came with mashed potatoes that tasted like they were made from powder.

I also didn't particularly like the beers any of us got - I got the IPA, which wasn't a well balanced beer, and my friend got the xmas ale, which I though tasted like medicine. It is safe to say I shall never return.
