Very good, but could have bigger portions for the price.

Ribs are phenomenal. Service could be better. One time, they forgot to give us the bread

From the outside, you'd think it was a usual dive-bar. Not at all. Actually pretty grandiose when you settle-in. Very spacious. Service was alright. I ordered their New York Strip. I'm not gonna' lie. It was actually alright. But waaaay over-priced! My girls' glass of Pinot Grigio fetched for over $12. A glass...not a bottle. A decent dinner between two people ended-up costing over $71 not including the tip. Do NOT see myself going back there anytime soon.

A buddy of mine and I were in the neighborhood craving BBQ so we thought of Smoking Woody's but I think they may have been closed down due to health code violations :-( So down the way at Corner 41 they were advertising award winning ribs probably from rib fest so we figured why not.

We tried out the full slab of ribs special with sweet potato fries and I have to admit it was pretty damn tasty! The sauce had a nice sweet introduction and then it was followed by a spicy kick to it but not overwhelming. They're also one of the few places that actually serve Johnny Walker Gold Label for a decent price if you're into Scotch. The service was decent and attentive. Now that Smoking Woody's is down for now I'll be going here for my rib fix since it is in my area.

On a side note, I put 5 stars because the night of the dinner, I accidentally left my prescription sunglasses there. I called the next day and the owner ( I think ) was very accommodating in my search for them. She quickly found them and said I can get them at the bar whenever, so I really appreciated that extra effort :-)

I went to Corner 41 for the first time with a voucher I had purchased. We were seated quickly in their cozy outdoor patio and continued to have prompt, courteous service during our meal.

The food was delicious. The baby-back ribs which were tender and falling off the bone,  the lobster and crab meat burger had a nice amount of seafood (not too much filler) and was well seasoned, and bread pudding was fantastic. Great beer and wine selection as well.

I took away a star for the oysters Rockefeller. The oysters hadn't been cleaned properly and there was still grit left in the shell that was extremely unpleasant.

All in all, I highly recommend  this restaurant.

Great place - great owners - great service! Exposed brick adds to the beauty of the decor. Didn't know what to expect from the outside - went inside and was surprised by the gem I found! Awesome ribs - no wonder they placed first at Ribfest!  Love the owners - made us feel welcomed from the moment we stepped inside.

A gem in the neighborhood! This place is run by a husband and wife team and the soups are made fresh daily by the wife. She even makes "lunch boxes" of healthy meals for her regular customers. The food is great and consistently so and the company is even better. In a world of impersonal Starbucks coffees, C41 is refreshing. The owner knows my drink and my order (the BBQ ribs are amazing...actually anything with his special BBQ sauce is amazing!) and as soon as I walk in the door he's making my cocktail and putting in my order. I always leave here feeling relaxed and comforted as they take great care of me.

I stopped by on a Friday night with a groupon in hand. I was pleasantly surprised.

From the store front, the place looks like a fairly small bar. But, once we were inside, we followed the hostess to the back part of the restaurant. It was a large room with exposed brick and chandeliers. There weren't many tables full, I think only about 5 were occupied while we were there, but the atmosphere was cozy.

To start, we had the salmon and crab cakes. I thought they were a bit overpriced at $11 for two, but they were very good. For dinner, we decided to share 2 dishes - a half slab of ribs and the sesame tuna steak. Both dishes were tasty. The ribs were perfectly cooked, with the meat easily sliding off the bone, and the BBQ sauce was tangy with a little bit of heat. The tuna was served with some wasabi rice and steamed broccoli. My only complaint was that I wish we were given more rice. The sweet potato fries we got with the ribs were crispy and delicious.

The beer selection isn't the best, but they did offer some Half Acre beer (that's brewed right down the street). There weren't many desserts to choose from either - flourless chocolate cake, creme brulee, or bread pudding. We passed.

Overall, the prices are a bit higher than I think they should be, but I could see myself going back. Oh, and after we paid the check, the hostess came to our table and gave us a $10 gift certificate for our next visit.

We stopped in here this past weekend with a groupon.  We walked in and were immediately surprised with how dead the place was at about 8:30pm on a Saturday.  One table, a few people around the bar, that was it.

After sitting down and looking around I really liked the decor and cozy vibe of the place but found a couple things that threw this off - the big screen tv's hanging in the bar and this weird lit up fish tank.

Well we looked through the menu and found they had a nice but small beer menu.  We settled upon splitting a full slab of ribs with waffle fries and asparagus.  The ribs were amazing!!!  The perfect blend of spicy/sweet and the sides were excellent too.  We ordered a flour less chocolate cake for dessert.  That was disappointing; it was really dense and was definitely not made in house.  The espresso was very good, however.

All in all a good experience, just still not quite sure what this place is going for.  2 other tables came in the whole time we were there (a group of women polishing off girly drinks one after the other and another couple)  Can't say I have a strong urge to come back, but it seems like it would be a nice place to come with a group.

Probably one of the most important impressions which I can take away from a restaurant is the behavior of the owners or staff-how welcoming they are. After all, this IS the hospitality industry, so a hospitable welcome goes along way for me. And I found this kind of memorable welcome here. As well as the service we encountered during a recent weeknight visit.

All I knew about Corner 41 was that it was a reincarnation of the former Cy's Steak House (which I had patronized a few times,) and that the ribs here were recommended. My dining companion and I started with martinis, which were put together nicely. We did not try the appetizers, but we each ordered the ribs and shared the goat cheese salad with greens and oranges, and an order of spaghetti with arrabiata sauce. Both these items were nicley prepared and flavorful. The vinaigrette was the perfect partnership with the salad in that it was light and not overbearing. A half-slab of baby back ribs  makes a great entree choice. The ribs were meaty, moist and there was a generous amount of sauce. Sweeter than my usual barbeque sauce choice, but I would come back for the ribs in a minute.

The rooms here are spacious but feel even larger because the high ceilings. While not much different from it's other Lincoln Ave. pie-shaped gastropubs like 42 Degrees Latitude or Fork, it has much more of a suburban feel with its open-ness and seating arrangements. More Supper Club than "Bro Pub," as I like to call many of the Lincoln Ave. haunts. Just a little more elegant, too. I joked with the owner that the larger room begs to be danced in. So how about a Big Band?

All in all, I spent a great evening here with a friend, and chatting up the pleasant owner and his wife was a big part of it. I can understand why the under-30, head in my laptop-don't-freak-me-out-with-human-interaction crowd may not enjoy the place. So I hope they stay away. I intend to bring some other friends back here, hit the bar on occasion for a drink and hope to try some of the other menu offerings, which are numerous. I think Corner 41 is just dandy.

Painful.  I read the reviews but had an Open Table offer that needed to be used.  Had Thursday night dinner with an old work friend.  We were virtually the only people in the restaurant, though two couples showed up while we were there.

I was prepared for a less than optimal experience and was glad I set my expectations low.  They weren't exceeded.  Cocktail was weak.  I ordered a club sandwich since that is difficult to make inedible.  Mayo on the side was requested but the sandwich had more than its fair share of mayo.  I mentioned that to the proprietor and was told that he had written that on the ticket.  That really didn't address my issue and made for an uncomfortable moment as he seem to anticipate me saying that it was no big deal.  Obviously not the end of the world but not the response one would expect from someone in a service industry.

It's a nice space and I have to believe that its a nice restaurant waiting to be opened when this one goes under or re-invents itself on multiple dimensions.

Can't help but feel that Corner 41 suffers from a bit of an identity crisis.  The "award winning" ribs are heavily promoted, but nothing about the decor, service, or rest of the menu for that matter read rib joint.  Said ribs are mediocre so I can't help but feel sorry for whoever the runners up were in the rib contest that Corner 41 won.

The outside appearance is also deceiving compared to the amount of space inside.  And, oh, how it is wasted.  It's quite cavernous which gives it a bit of a cold feeling.  Feel like they just didn't know what to do with it...

Putting the ribs and floor plan aside for a second, everything else about the experience was just ok.  We had a reservation and were seated promptly.  Service was very cordial, but not overly engaging.  Salads had that 'pre-packaged' packaged look and taste and nothing on the dessert menu looked that appetizing.  We used a Groupon, though, so at least we felt like we got the meal for a good value.

Bottom line, Corner 41 didn't differentiate itself in any good way that would make me want to go back.

My boyfriend and I went on a Friday around 8 with our Living Social coupon.  We were sat immediately.

I didn't like the way the restaurant was set up, like what are they doing with all this space? It's like something was missing.  The hostess (the owner?) thanked us three times when we were sat like she was so grateful that we were there.  I guess that's nice, I just thought it was weird.

We sat in a booth/table in the bar area and it was freezing.  I had to keep my coat on, which I hate doing when I eat.  Especially in a "nicer" place.

The drinks are reasonably priced; I had a nice glass of wine and he had an Alagash draft.  We skipped on the appetizer and each got some soup.  The soups were pretty good -- french onion and butternut squash.  I ordered the filet and he the tuna steak.  Now I've had wonderful filets and this one was okay.  I don't know what it was, but it didn't taste like a $28 filet.  He didn't much care for his tuna steak either but did like the mashed potatoes saying, "How can you screw up mashed potatoes."

The prices were too high for the blah food.  And everything about the place was just cheap.  The tables, the seats, the silverware.  Oh the silverware.  My steak knife could hardly get through a medium rare filet.  The forks and spoons were very diner-esque.  And we were given teaspoons for our soup.... come on.  And paper napkins. I guess I kind of expect a linen napkin with a filet?

I like this place even less now that I've written it all down.

Plus side: our waitress was very nice and not overly attentive.

We won't go back.  Too bad, I like staying in the 'hood.

We were excited to try this place, but were totally let down.  We had a Living Social deal, and I've seen several other reviews from people who also had this or a Groupon.  Seems to me they are trying to get people to try it, but they're not impressing much.  Our server came by promptly, but then waited around 10 minutes to come back to see if we'd decided on a drink.  I generally need no more than 35 seconds to decide on a drink.

It seemed that our server was the one and only waitress in the restaurant, even though it was a Friday and there were probably 10 tables.  The space is very uncrowded, and while nice, it was VERY cold in there - even the man was complaining of being cold, which NEVER happens even when it's like -10 out.  There were a lot of empty tables at 7 on a Friday...not a good sign.

The music was terrible and too loud.  The food was sub-par.  They have a few vegetarian options, but they only work if you like mushrooms.  They don't use any organic or local meats or ingredients.  I ordered a side of asparagus, which the waitress assured me was grilled, and which instead came out quite obviously steamed and very, very naked.  Not even a pinch of salt or pepper for $4.  My goat cheese salad was good, and the man's lamb something-or-other was passable but again, bland.  The wine list was rather short, but with some decent selections and good prices.

I went to the bathroom once and it smelled awful, like sewer, and there was a toilet brush in the stall.  I'm sorry but I don't want to see any cleaning products or tools in the bathroom at a restaurant. It's just gross.

Overall we were not impressed, from the long waits for service to the mediocre food to the bad music.  The space is so nice we wanted to like it, but just couldn't.  Won't be back.  :(

A decent option for the area but nothing that I will return to frequently. I had the crab legs which were good but not nearly as warm as I would have liked. I also had the oysters rockafeller which were really, really awful. That being said, our other appetizers were all very good.

I hope this place makes it because the interior is great and the food actually was pretty good overall. It was very empty when I was there so hopefully traffic picks up soon.

Went here because we had a Living Social deal.  The outdoor seating was nice.  Service was super slow though.  Think they may have been understaffed.  Heard the waitress ask a table that sat down behind us if they'd been helped 20 minutes after they sat.  No one had been to their table.

When I asked about the entree I wanted to order, the server said it was very good.  When I got the pork chops they were overcooked, dry and had zero flavor so I sent the plate back.  Took just as long to get a replacement sandwich (figured it would be quicker) and by then my boyfriend was done with his meal and we packed it up to go.

Me and my man have been wanting to try out this neighborhood place for a while, and finally did so over the weekend.  We were loving the warm October night air, and were hoping for an outdoor table - unfortunately, they were full outside, so we sat at a high top next to the wide open windows, so it was almost like we were outside, but still able to listen to the restaurant music and catch some of the baseball game on the TVs.

First of all, I love the look of the restaurant's interior.  It's big, open, warm - huge copper chandeliers, roomy booths, brick - it's nice inside.

We both liked our meals.  The man ordered a buffalo burger + sweet potato fries;  I ordered the crab/lobster burger + sweet potato fries.  The crab/lobster 'burger' was essentially a huge crab/lobster cake with a sweet honey glaze, served on a brioche bun, with a side of (good) coleslaw.  This thing was big (and should be, for $17), and loaded with large chunks of lobster meat and crab, and not much filler - which is a good thing.  It was meaty, satisfying and the sweet glaze was a great compliment to the seafood flavors.

Glad we finally scratched this place off our list, and glad we liked it!

*I've passed by this place on numerous occasions when it looks like they have big private parties going on.  Something to keep in mind if you're looking for a restaurant space for a reception, party, etc. in this area.

    **Friendly note to management:
Your website could use a facelift, asap.  It really doesn't do your restaurant justice.

The food is inconsistent. The first time we ate there (after it became Corner 41, it used to be called Cy's) it was excellent, the second time, not so good.

The goat cheese/walnut/blood orange salad would have been good with dressing. If there was dressing on it, it sure didn't taste like it. The ingredients are fresh and the concept is good, but the lack of dressing spoiled it.

This salad is so large that it could easily be split 2-3 ways, or served as a main course.

The shrimp dejonghe was just plain awful. The shrimp were undercooked so they were fishy tasting. It was served with peas in the middle! There were no crusty breadcrumbs on it, and the garlic in the sauce was raw. Another shame, because the shrimp were of good quality.

Hubby had the ribs; they were OK, but rather dry, and way too much pepper in the BBQ sauce.

Flourless choco cake was very good. Creme brulee was burned around the edges and what should have been a nice hard crust over creme was the consistency of taffy. The creme was ice cold.

We told both owners and the server about it. They were nice and offered to remove it from our bill. They also explained that there was a new "cook's helper" in the kitchen who appeared to have confused two shrimp dishes.

As an aside, they need to can the Middle Eastern muzac. It doesn't fit into a neighborhood restaurant like this.

I hope they get their food problems sorted out. They're all very nice people and I'd like to see them succeed. But it will be a long time before we go back. When it was called Cy's (same owners, same decor), it suffered from the same problems so I have little hope that they'll get it sorted out.

I'd been meaning to go to this place for a while.  When I saw the Groupon for it, I figured it was a good excuse to finally give it a whirl.  Overall I was completely underwhelmed.

I went there with a couple of friends and the first clue that it wasn't going to be a good experience was that we were pretty much the only people there.  It was a Wednesday night so not prime time, but still most decent restaurants have at least some traffic on a Wednesday.

I ordered the goat cheese appetizer.  It's the standard deal with goat cheese in tomato sauce served with bread.  The bread was toasted but it seemed kinda stale.  It was really off on the texture.  The goat cheese itself also had an odd texture.  It wasn't like Chevre, and it was a little hard to break it up with the bread because it was too firm.

Next I had a goat cheese salad.  It was okay, but seemed like the greens were a little more bitter than they should have been.  Maybe the greens weren't quite as fresh as they should be.  Overall, meh?

Ended the meal with the Lamb Chops.  They were cooked properly (medium rare) but the seasoning was nearly non existent and the outside was overly charred.  So the overall flavor wasn't great.  The mashed potatoes with it were tasty but luke warm.

My friend got a tuna steak and the sauce that came with it was ...  well I don't know what exactly it was but it shouldn't be served on food.  Just really added nothing to the flavor and my friend had to salt her Tuna to give it some flavor.

The service was fine.  Only flaw was that dinner came out while we were still working on our salads.  Not a major crisis though.  Staff was friendly and attentive.  Granted we were the only people there.

All in all I wouldn't bother going here.

Would never recommend anyone go there.  I went because of a groupon.  So thank you groupon for giving me an excuse to visit, but they didn't make it a visit worth repeating.

Food was ok.  Staff doesn't really explain the food very well.  Wine was ok.  Barely decent.  Overall, I spent $6 after the groupon and couldn't bring myself to leave a 20% tip.  And I'm one of those people that believe 20% is a minimum tip.

Just head over to Broadway and find a restaurant there.  Any of those will be a better choice.

Went here with my husband with our living social deal. I saw the reviews before we went, but went with an open mind.

We went on a Sunday evening, and it was empty. That is fine, because it was quiet. There were a few tvs, but not an overwhelming number of them.

I gave 2 stars because the food just wasn't that good. I ordered tuna, and it was overdone. My husband ordered the ostrich burger, and it was also overdone.

I would like to say that their bread pudding was very good, and I might go back just for that. But there are so many other restaurants in the neighborhood I would rather go to.

Going here was just a pure experiment based on a walk-by and looking inside.  They have a nice outdoor patio but the inside of this restaurant is very nicely designed and dimly lit.  It has a very open dining concept that did not feel like people were being crammed in and sitting on top of one another.  The place was not very busy, but it was a late Sunday afternoon and we were given a seat by the large open windows facing Lincoln Ave. where we people-watched. The owner was there also and she was very kind to us, and told us that this steakhouse was redesigned last year.

The waitress was nice and attentive.  The food was very good.  We had the spicy fried calamari which was very lightly breaded but their description that it had a spicy kick was not exactly true.  It was good, not rubbery at all, but it was not that spicy.

I had the sesame tuna steak with a wasabi paste that was absolutely mouth-watering good, along with sushi rice and broccoli.  The serving of rice was a bit too much (looked a little over 2 cups!) and I couldn't finish it.  The broccoli was steamed perfect and was extremely large but it wasn't seasoned at all.  My girlfriend had the the very interesting lobster and crab meat burger.  It had a lightly sweetened honey-citrus glaze that was surprisingly good and the sandwich was very large. We finished with a very good flourless chocolate cake and coffee.  The size of the cake was small and for $6, I expected it to be a bit bigger.

The tab after a beer, wine, app, dinner for two, coffee and dessert came in at around $50 which was a surprise for great service and atmosphere, very comfortable seating and very good food.   Definitely recommend this spot for a relaxing dinner.

Definitely a fan of Corner 41.
My co-worker and I came in last night only to find like 10 people there, including the staff. VERY empty. but wonderful food! Awww the calamari, and the steak - ohh, the potatoes and ribs....every single food item that I ate was delicious.

Nice waitress, very attentive (hell we were the only ones in the room). Not the best lighting though, but I might be hating...It's a restaurant you take when you're about to tell your family you've been promoted in your job and moving overseas, or you're about to pop the big question to your girlfriend. Neither one of which are happening for me so I did not dig the "ambiance."

There's a bar section and even an outdoor section. Whoever designed Corner 41 did a wonderful job. So, 4 stars means I'm a fan. And I am definitely a fan now thanks to Groupon.

We stopped here for some drinks, after stuffing our faces with Korean BBQ just a block away.  It's a nice looking place, with a long wooden bar, plush seating, and darker atmosphere.  We came on a weeknight and the place was a bit empty, but the service was good and the owner happily greeted us from the bar.

They also have a full menu and I hear the ribs are good, but we were way too full and just wanted some cold beer.  Our first round was a little warm, but our server happily brought out the second round in frosty mugs.  They have a small beer selection, as well as wine and cocktails.  Nice corner bar and grill.

We went to 41 to watch two of the Bulls vs Heat games.  We had perfect seats at the bar with the plasma's.  The place kind of looks like a regular bar from the outside, but it is a beautiful space.  The staff was uber nice.  Food and drinks were tasty and reasonable.  The service was slow, but Al (the owner) and the rest of the staff were wonderful!  So, we didn't mind the wait.  Al even made my Cuban coffee, even though its not the season.  That's what's up!

The regulars were also very warm and friendly.  Street parking was easy to find.  This is a great hidden gem!

Upon leaving the Glunz Bavarian Haus one evening my date and I smelled this wonderful aroma coming from Corner 41 and we decided to go in and have another drink.  We were so surprised because what all of the other reviewers have to say about the ambiance of Corner 41 is true.  This is a lovely spot for an intimate date or a large party.  What was great about C-41 was the service.  The owner was in house that evening and came to speak with us and we told him what drew us in.  He explained to us that it was his BBQ sauce which he is apparently known for.

Later he came back with a bowl full of BBQ chicken wings on the house for us to try and let me tell you we may have been full from our German fare across the street but we devoured those wings.  The sauce was tangy and sweet and spicy all at the same time!  My date is not into spicy at all but we both admitted that we would come back to C-41 again just for the ambiance, service, and amazing BBQ sauce!

What you see is not what you get. From the outside and the sign that reads "Bar and Grill" you would never expect what you get inside. For my beau and me a MOST pleasant surprise.

We were stepping in for a quick meal. First we were very warmly greeted by the husband owner. Then we took in the interior and ambiance - warm, inviting, upscale yet casual. Moving on to the meal there were tons of options - for vegetarians and meat eaters - at various price points. We enjoyed a starter and then I had a veggie sandwich and my beau a burger, if memory serves. It is hard to remember what he had when I was so wrapped up in my sandwich. It had all sorts of vegetables (including an unexpected asparagus or two) chopped in nice chunks that were a good size yet didn't make the sandwich hard to eat.

Street parking around there is fairly easy from my experience.

I have to admit that I was a little hesitant about coming here after reading some of the reviews, but 1) I had a groupon, 2) my girlfriend was out-of-town, 3) my best friend's wife and kids were out-of-town ... so we decided to go for some cocktails and steaks!

We started with the spicy calamari, which was basically calamari and jalapenos (I think). Not too spicy and we thought the flavors went well together.  For our mains we basically split the lamb chops and NY prime, and both were excellent. Tried both the bernaise and peppercorn sauces, which were both good, but the steak definitely didn't need them. We also had the caesar salad for some added greens, which I thought was good and reasonable priced.

So, basically, I was pleasantly surprised with Corner 41 and would definitely go back. The interior is very nice, and they had some interesting items on the menu that I'd like to try sometime (such as a buffalo burger and an ostrich burger).

The place also gets major bonus points from me because the bartender knows how to make a manhattan. :-)

I went here with a groupon, and im kinda glad we did.. when we walked in the place was empty besides another couple that was sitting in the large room. Gradually some ppl came in.  anyway about the food.  we had the special for valentine's day. your choice of appetizer steak and lobster tail with your choice of dessert.
the crab cake was delicious, the steak was ehh, and the lobster was okay, kinda of tough, peppercorn sauce for the steak was disappointing.  the creme brulee, was so good. the crab cake and the creme brulee saved the meal...

parking was easy, it wasnt too hard to find a spot infront of the bar.

the staff is super nice, although for only have two tables, our waitress was kinda m.i.a.

the cute old couple who i assume own the place, were super friendly.

i'd probably go back but just for the 5 dollar martini special they have and because the staff was nice.

From the outside, this spot looks more like a run-down dive than a nice seafood/steak restaurant. Once inside, the bar looks dim and dark and it's not until you turn the corner, that you get to see the actually very lovely atmosphere of the dining room. It's shabby chic, very spacious so tables don't feel crowded and it's a pretty space. The front of the house staff couldn't have been nicer. Plus our waitress was very prompt and attentive. Minus a few random odd comments that she made like when she set our friend's drink down and said "here you go buddy," we were extremely satisfied with the service. Those were the pros. Now for the cons.

EVERY SINGLE THING I ATE WAS AWFUL! I had a French onion soup. It tasted really bland. I make French onion soup at home and think that it is 10 times better than this version. It came served with saltines and I've never heard of that pairing before. I found it strange and also disappointing since bread on the table might have made a whole lot more sense. I do have to say there was a lot of cheese on the soup; which was it's only saving grace.

Now for the entrees.....ew! I had the salmon because that's what was recommended. The plate was just the piece of fish over carrots and broccoli. No potatoes or starch of any kind. Once again, weird! The fish tasted rather unfresh and the seasoning; which I'm guessing was dill was applied way too heavy handedly. Plus, there was a puddle of something very liquidy on the plate; which really made it all so unappetizing. I am guessing the vegetables weren't properly drained. Terrible presentation! My other friend had the swordfish with the curry sauce. His fish had a very mushy texture and he also had the liquid puddle on his plate. He commented to me that it was the worst meal he had ever had out and suggested a slice of pizza nearby afterwards.

Our other friend had the spicy chicken and I'm not sure that a complaint is warranted here because in all fairness, it is called spicy chicken but there does need to be a balance between heat and flavor. At some points, he wasn't able to eat it since the heat was causing him physical pain. Overall, I'll never go back here again. In fact, I sorta wish I had the guts to tell them they owe me for the food I went to buy directly after leaving here. With that said, I did take a look around and noticed that every single other table had ribs. Maybe I missed that memo and had I ordered ribs, this would have been a very different experience.

I went here in May of 2010. They had great drink specials, nice bar and the restaurant was kinda swanky- I felt like an adult. I really liked the vibe and the window's open up during the warm weather days.

Tita P and I stopped by on Wednesday evening. Let me say this, "I'm glad that she was driving and I really should have taken Thursday off of work." They had a special on Wednesdays- $5 top shelf vodka Martinis. I had about 5- I think. I also had the Oysters with goat cheese. They were delicious and reasonably priced. The bartender was very friendly and
personable. We didn't have trouble finding parking either.

This is a great place to stop by after work and have a drink.

Looks like I wasn't the only one with a Groupon and a disappointing meal.

First thing I noticed about Corner 41 was the decor, which is surprising because I never notice decor.  I also rarely use the word "decor."  Now I've used three times and I need to move on.

The place is pretty big, and they could probably fit another dozen tables.  Once we started getting the food, though, I started to find out why they don't.

To start off we got the lobster bisque, which I give a solid B+.  This was followed by the baked goat cheese.  It was served with some bread that also had cheese on it.  Too much cheese? Never.

It was all down hill from there.

We ordered the surf and turf to split.  The two crabs leg (small amount, or is that just me?) and a steak.  Everything was cold.  The food came quickly, so I don't think it was sitting around.  My only theory is that it was because they keep their restaurant at meat locker temperatures (not kidding: the melted butter for the crab legs was coagulated by the end of the meal).  I've received plates with one thing cold, but never the entire meal. We sent everything back; I've maybe sent back meals twice in my life so it takes a lot for me.

The food came back at a reasonable temperature, but barely edible.  The steak was mostly fat, but after major surgery I was able to remove some tasty bites.  The crab legs tasted like they were frozen, which is interesting because they charge market price.  We had to ask for lemon (that's a staple seafood accessory right?).

Our server was very nice, so I had no problems there.  And the people sitting next to us ordered sandwiches which looked pretty good.  I'm guessing we ordered the wrong things at the wrong time.  While I may not be back any time soon, I could be convinced to give them a second chance.

Went there with a groupon...nothing special.  The service was satisfactory.  It didn't take long to order, our food came in a timely manner and we didn't have to wait long to pay our bill.  The food was okay but nothing to write home about.  We had the 12 oz NY Strip Steak and the Tuna Steak.  The wasabi that came with the tuna was delicious if you like wasabi, otherwise the dish might not be flavorful enough.

The biggest problem was with where we sat.  There's a small dining area near the bar and there's a larger dining area in a different section.  We were put at a table near the bar and the bathrooms.  First, I went out for dinner not to throw back a few beers so the location near the bar didn't appeal to me (the host should real ask the customers where they'd prefer to sit since the other dining area looked real nice).  Second, there was a strong sewer smell lingering in the air.  I started smelling it the minute we sat down and it continued to smell it throughout the evening.  That was a huge turn off!

If we were to go back it would only be to drink beer at the bar and maybe have a few appetizers, but if it smelled the same again I don't think we'd make it past one.

This is the definition of mediocre.  Vegetable soup with chicken in it, missing coleslaw, wine that's been open for days, etc. etc. etc.

My reuben was fine, but it certainly wasn't great or anything.  With all the restaurant choices in the area, Corner 41 would need to make a big turnaround for there to ever be a reason to go there.

The beer list is laughable.  The only reason it isn't awful is having Half Acre Over Ale on draft, and that's probably only because it's down the block.

The owners seem like nice people, so I wish them the best, but I hope they read a few of these bad bad reviews and make some changes...quick.

I came here on a weekday with my roommate to take advantage of their $5 burger, $5 HBK half liter weekday specials and to sit outside on a nice day.  We were told that they were out of the HBK, because the guy who was supposed to change the keg wasn't there.  Um...ok... So instead of offering us a half liter of something else for the same price, they offered us a more expensive special of a smaller quantity of a different beer.  The wait staff was not rude per se, but not exactly friendly either.

The $5 burgers didn't come with any sort of a side, which I might expect with a $2 burger, but I feel like $5 is enough to get me a full meal when it's on special.  So we split an order of calamari (which was quite tasty) and an order of waffle fries, which were pretty awesome.  It tasted like they had a little bit of brown sugar on them, so they had a hint of sweetness.  The burgers were just OK...not something I'd rush back for.  All in all, not a terrible experience, but I don't think I'll be coming back here soon.  It's a shame, because I'd like to see a new local business do well, but I just can't quite get on board here.

There's some good stuff going on here. To begin with, $5 martini Wednesdays with heavy pours. That, in itself, is a reason to stop by and get happy. I asked for a martini not previously on the menu and the waitress/bartender improvised and hooked me up. That's service with a smile. It's all smiles here. Ali, the owner, is a very nice man and spent some time chatting my colleague and me up about how Corner 41 came to be. He's also a very modest man who is not giving himself enough credit for what he does...so, allow me: You know those ribs you like to eat so much at Ribfest? You know, the ones that come in first place every year for being so awesome? Yeah, that's Ali's handiwork. I am not a rib man, else I would have torn some up during my stay.

What I did have was the eggplant steak -- thick cut eggplant, lightly breaded and served with generous amounts of marinara. I forgot that I was eating a vegetable. I chose the lobster burger for my entree and it did the trick. First off, it's huge. I have big hands (and feet, ahem) and I was double palming that bad boy. The burger is very lobstery without being fishy. I struggled to finish it not because it wasn't good but because it was so hearty. It came with crispy sweet potato fries which were pleasingly sweet in addition to being copious in amount. One thing about Corner 41, they make sure to feed you. Dessert was chocolate ganache thing with fruit...yum. Every bite was a treat.

This is a neighborhood joint. I parked on a tree-lined side street, walked up to the door and took it all in. I imagine that come summertime, NC locals will pile around the bar, drink some cheap martinis and stumble home, pleased to not have to pay a hefty cab fare. The design of the restaurant is extremely appealing. Large (almost floor-to-ceiling) windows greet you from the street, while high ceilings, exposed brick and comfy booths invite you to stay a while. Corner 41 not only pleased by (growing) belly and treated me right, it made me want to move to the neighborhood. THAT'S a good experience. Have one for yourself. I hear the restaurant is participating in something called Yelp Eats!...

Thank you, Corner 41, for showing me a wonderful meal on my visit to Chicago.

A colleague took me here because it's one of the newer kids on the block (teehee, too hard to resist that one) and from what I hear, businesses open and close in the blink of an eye in Chicago. I was excited to get in to see this place early... just in case.

Well, the verdict's in... and I think they'll be around for a while!

The $5 martini Wednesday made me happy -not because I had four- but $5 martinis!? Win!

The eggplant steaks topped with marinara and Parmesan caught my eye first, so we started with those. DELICIOUS! I've been trying to replicate the recipe since I returned home. Equally amazing was the honey-crusted salmon!

The owner was fabulous and attentive and only added to our wonderful experience.

My only confusion was that it was dead on a Wednesday night. There was only one other table in that evening. Maybe people just haven't heard of the awesomeness yet?

Well ok so you caught me on a good day and I am feeling generous with stars even though I feel as though its more 3 and a half stars.

This place is brand spankin' new in the heart of North Center.  By the look of the table cloths you think you need to be dressed up, but we were really dressed casually and very well received by the staff.

That being said the service alone was excellent.  The hostess was friendly, our waitress was a doll and the owner came up and since it was our first time said to come by again and he'd buy us a drink for coming by again!  What a super duper sweet little man.

Our food was good.  Nothing to write home about, but there's a nice variety of home cookin' faves like chicken and steaks as well as burgers and sandwiches.

My boyfriend and I had the prociutto wrapped asparagus which by the way is the best way to have asparagus.. wrapped in meat!  He had a steak that was very good and I had the chicken marsala which was nothing too exciting in fact I coulda made it.  But the portions was decently sized.

The Bread pudding is where its at!  I loved the whiskey sauce on there! So caramelly and sassy with the whiskey:)

A true neighborhood joint that is a little bit above the average bar so perfect for family and friends to meet.  Its the type of place I'd take my parents to if they came to visit.

So... we went back for dinner..  In short, the food was DEEE-LICIOUS!... (way better than the old Cy's menu!)

Let's start with the onion rings.  Typical freezer to the fryer?  Not at Corner 41!  Let's talk about a home-made batter with perfect seasoning (that you could actually see!) and beyond awesome taste.  (Ok, talk..)  It comes with Ranch, but I opted for a side of their award winning BBQ sauce (it's what I do...)

Let's move on to the caesar salad.  Typical?  No.  Beyond flavorful?  Yes....  Delicious parmesan crouton on top?  You better believe it.  The half size salad was as big as some restaurants regular size - I would assume the full size would be plenty to share - or enough for a meal - topped with some added protein.

Entrees.... The chicken parmesan will leave you with leftovers.  A nice big chicken breast on top of pasta with a home made (you could tell - it didn't have that canned flavor...) sauce.   The chicken parm was a nightly special - so don't always expect it...

Ok, sesame crusted tuna.  Seared to perfection with lots of seeds (that didnt all fall off...)  I opted to hold the wasabi oil and instead, dip it in the honey glaze (for the salmon).  It's up to you - if you like wasabi - go for the wasabi - if you want to change things up, like I do, go with the honey glaze.

OK - one dessert review.  The flour less chocolate cake.   If you love chocolate - go for this.  It was pure chocolate bliss.  And yes, home-made too.

The new chef has many many years of experience and it shows!!

Has this place actually changed since it was Cy's? It looked exactly the same. Just a different menu.

Anyway, I liked it! I was hesitant because they took soooo long to open, but my goat cheese salad was really, really good. We ate at the bar, but the host (owner?) was very friendly and often stopped by to chat with us and the bartender. The bartender was also very nice.. a little slow, but she seemed new.

My fiance had the buffalo burger. He said it wasn't the greatest burger he's ever had, but he ate the entire thing, so obviously it wasn't an issue. His french fries were delicious! :)
