I've eaten at many small diners and the like with my husband. I have to be honest here and say that I thoroughly enjoyed my food at the Egg Head Diner. The seating is somewhat antiquated though in good condition and the walls could use a little more color, but I very much liked the local artist decor along their walls...kinda like what some Starbucks locations do to advertise local business. I went to Brunch with my husband and 2 of our friends. We weren't too sure what to expect, but we were greeted by a friendly elderly woman who promptly seated us. Our waiter was friendly and quickly got us some waters while we looked at our menus. I was surprised that the menu offered fair trade coffee, gluten-free options, vegetarian options, etc. It was a good surprise and I am sure some diners will appreciate those options; I don't usually see them offered in many small diners. We asked our waiter some questions regarding the menu and he was knowledgeable enough to answer our questions. One of my pet peeves is going to restaurants or diners where the staff is not familiar with their menus.
But I digress, we each ordered something different so that we could share and try multiple items on the menu. Here is what we ordered: Stuffed Berry Crepes with marscapone, a short stack, the Hangover Chilaquiles, the Rapine Bruschetta Frita, a side of French Toast, and a I can't remember the name but it was a pork lovers plate, a Strawberry milkshake, 2 coffees, a coke, 4 tropical fruit smoothies--very good, and an orange juice --freshly made. I have to say that the presentation was good and the food was absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the music in the background and was often singing along to the amusement (embarrassment?) of my companions lol. We even had the manager Horacio stop at our table and see how our food was which I appreciated.
Now here's why I gave it 5 stars: Fast service from receiving our meal order to us receiving our actual meal, good customer service--the staff was very friendly and attentive to our refill needs, great food, good price, and an overall good vibe. Take your family, take your friends, or go by yourself and give it a try! I highly recommend that you visit the Egg Head Diner.
I've been driving by this place for a little while now and today finally decided to check it out. Â I am glad I did. Â It is your typical diner atmosphere, but they had local art on the wall, which I thought was great! Â
The pros:The waitstaff was very polite and attentive. Â The food was delicious and looked great on the plate. I had the breakfast burrito which had chicken, cheese, egg, avocado, onion and tomato with a side of breakfast potatoes. Â My girlfriend had the egg white omelet. Â Again really impressed with the way the food looked and tasted. Â The food isn't overly priced and the portions were just right.
The cons: No parking. Â We were going to park in the Lincoln Lodge parking lot, but apparently they will tow you so we had to pay to park on the street. Â The menu looks a little confusing in the way that it reads.
All in all it was great food, great service and not too expensive. Â I'm glad they are in the neighborhood.
We were so happy to see a new neighborhood breakfast place walkable from our house, and tried it almost the day it opened! Â It turned out to be a great addition to the neighborhood! Â The food is great, service friendly and prices very reasonable. Â It is also VERY kid friendly! Â I had the chilaquiles, which were excellent. Â my kids had the mickey mouse pancakes(they made them minnie mouse since I have girls) and my husband had the reuben, which was also HUGE and delicious he said. On another occasion we had other meals and they too were all excellent! Â We will definitely be back often.
