The Piano man is where my day off get's a bit foggy. I have damaged my liver at the Piano Man on many occasions over the last twenty five years, but 05/11/12 takes the cake.
After playing a fabulous round of Golf, my buddy and I hiked down to the Piano man to watch the first game of the crosstown classic. The staff here has always treated us well, but little did we know, there was a special treat instore for us on this day. After downing our first delicious Old Style's of the of the afternoon the bartender asks us if we want to go to the game. At first I thought he was trying to sell us the tickets, but he was actually giving them to us. We happily stumbled down Clark street to Wrigley field and headed to our primo seats right behind home plate. The Sox kicked the Cubs ass, but what else is new. Â We had a great time anyway.
After the game we downed a dozen or so brews in their beautiful beer garden. The bartenders are wonderful, not to mention easy on the eyes. They are friendly, helpful and are happy to keep you bombed out of your goard.
Here's the bottom line: The Piano man is the perfect place to down a few (dozen) cold one's after watching another Cubs loss. The cold beer, friendly vibe and wonderful staff will easily make you forget the horrible baseball you just witnessed at Wrigley Field. Cheers!!!!
I've been to The Piano Man for several reasons:
1. Â After a Cubs game, when the douche/frat boy factor is tolerable.
2. Â For a private event (yes, you read that right) in their back room, which is huge.
3. Â To chill with my friends on the beer garden. Â
The Piano Man isn't fancy. Â They don't have waitresses, a big selection of liquor, or a craft beer list. Â It's a dive bar, but doesn't feel overly icky to me like Rossi's does. Â The Piano Man is a-ok.
