Look, I gotta tell you, I've been going to t-Spot, just about weekly for four years. That means I've been there with my family of five well over a hundred times. And we aren't related to anyone connected to the restaurant. We pay full price.
I've only been eating sushi for about fifteen years, and I've been lucky enough to have eaten sushi in Jspan, which is excellent, as one would expect.
My daughter has been eating sushi since she was two, she's nine now, and we've all had sushi from all the places in the Northcenter, Lincoln Square and Ravenswood neighborhoods.
Hands down T-spot is the best sushi to be had in these neighborhoods. Unless you have an overwhelming attraction mayo, you won't find better sushi. While I do agree with another review that the miso is lame, when it is taken in the context of the sushi to follow, you can see why it plays a bit part.
I highly recommend the Chicago Fire, which in my sushi jaunts both here and abroad, I haven't been able to find a comparison, to my homesick chagrin.
The Latin Heat is also excellent. If you like a fresh veg taste with some kick that doesn't kill the fish, try it.
Ask for the hot spot, if you want an off menu gem that entertains as much as it satiated. This flaming dish is as much spectacle ad it is delicious.
And for the pieces... Definitely get the pieces. My daughter prefers sashimi, but we've been trying to slowly get her on nigiri. Always ask if they've got the belly. If you're lucky they've got some namesake belly that is so fresh it'll knock your drawers.
Dads and Moms, one word, byob. The friendly staff will be happy to keep cold them Sapporos that you can grab at CVS on the way. My wife likes wine.
The kids like the jasmine tea or ti kwa yin. And they max out with the ice cream at the end.
I guess in a word that's why we keep goin'
Cheers!
