This is an interesting little spot. There is definitely a lot of character in this place, the Great Lakes room is one of my favorite things about the place. The only downside is some of the regulars can be rather surly and rude. For example, there is one guy with red hair who screamed at me for having ice in my bourbon! However, they do have a wonderful "secret" cocktail list. I ordered the "House Special" which had grapefruit and tequila, let me just say it was a great replacement for my usual Sunday morning bloody mary!
I am willing to give this place another try, I will have to try some of the food next time, I hear the million alarm chili is some of the best this side of the Mississippi. Hopefully the clientele will be a little more friendly next time I decide to saddle up to McManganaro's.
This place is a hidden gem of the southport corridor. Â Very non-discript entrance, almost like you are going into someone's private residence. Â The proprietor's will greet you with an ice cold guinness and your whisky of choice. Â They seemed to have a wide selection of bourbon and some high end scotch. Â Noticed they don't carry rum drinks, but everything was spot on. Â I will definitely be stopping by McMangp's during cubs season to enjoy post or pre-game beverages.
