I got forced into this deli starving while my son was wrestling at Covert Fitness in Locust Valley. Now I know Deli's are supposed to have a wide variety, but this place was ridiculous. I found Charles Chips, a brand of potato chips that I grew up on as a kid in Ohio and hadn't seen in years. Loved em'!
They had Prohibition Beer, a new brand I hadn't seen before. And a Boylans soda that was called Shirley Temple. I had never seen that one either.
So I as the owner to make me an Italian Hero, light on the onions and hot peppers. He says "I know just what you want." He disappears behind the counter for about 8 minutes and comes back with a sandwich wrapped up that looked and felt like a Duraflame log. It was gigantic!
I spent the next twenty minutes in my car wrestling with this beast before it got the better of me. But is was fresh, Italian, and awesome! Hope my son goes wrestling up there again soon, so I can sneak off and go back to Country Plaza Deli.
