Cranky Anki's at JD Gates

I don't live in Glen Cove, but when I go over to see my folks, I usually make a stop here.  Pub fare is outstanding. I usually get the burger, but I also get the wings which are good.

There is a jukebox which I loved and played. Also, the bartenders (Lily in particular) are very sociable and friendly and make feel welcome every time I come in.  I am not there all that often but when I am there, they remember me and treat me like a loyal regular.

Somewhere in the not too far past the place came under new ownership (so I was told) - thus the Cranky Anki (which I have not quite figured out yet) addition to the name.

No matter, the place has improved dramatically - I've been in a few times and each time I had a decent evening.  Bartenders are decent - I wouldn't call them excellent but good overall.

Food is pretty good pub-grub.  Thursday nights there is karaoke - which I found out as I was sitting there and it unfolded all around me... and the place gets jamming for that karaoke.

A pool table is there as are plenty of TV's to watch whatever sport you are in to.

Small rear patio for you smokers.

Prices are pretty decent.

Parking on the street.

Enjoy the happy hours drinks on weekdays, though the place is dead on weekdays, you can spend time with the bartender, good hangout place over the weekends, it becomes crowdy at times, listen to your favourite music on jukebox
