We visited this winery when we were visiting family for Thanksgiving in November 2012. Â We just opened a bottle of the wine this past week and I remembered I still needed to write a review!
This is a small/cramped winery, but I love how they do the tastings. Â Rather than just standing around at most wineries, it is bar style so you can sit and enjoy your tastings, rather than rushing through. Â The tastings are much different than the ones in NC and TN - where you get to try all of their wines or most of their wines, by just having a small sip. Â Here you get to taste 4 wines but you get large portions. Â If I were by myself, I would have wanted the way NC/TN did theirs. Â Since Kevin and I went, he got 4 different than I did, so in all we tried 8 of their wines. Â We tried the sweet/fruity wines. Â I liked the Ambush, but Kevin just thought it was okay. Â We thought the Strawberry was okay as well. Â The others were just so-so or not liked. Â But the one that we loved - the Peach. Â We ended up having 3/4ths of the bottle the first night we opened it this week. Â Luckily we have family in the area and we will have to request that they bring us a bottle the next time that they come and visit us!
I do love their wine glasses, it definitely was a nice souveneir for us to bring back with us to NC. Â I like the image of the longhorn on front - very Texas, and I like how they have the winery name on it, plus mentions Fort Worth Stockyards - just makes it very memorable.
I give them 4 stars just because it is a little cramped and because most of the wines we tried were just so so. Â I do give that peach wine 5 stars though!
