This is an average hole in the wall bar. It seemed to have a lot of regulars. Not very busy, maybe 20 people at most on a Saturday at 10pm. We planned a group outing here and rented the back room. We were told it was a $400 bar tab minimum for the back room. With 30 people all there to celebrate an event, we knew it would be no problem. Upon arriving we were told where the back room was and proceeded to head that way. A waitress stopped us along the way to ask if we were the party for the back room. Her next comment was "you know there's a $400 bar tab minimum." Yes we know, no problem. She proceeded to explain that if we didnt hit the $400 that the credit card on file would be charged. Again, we understand. No problem. She asked how many were in our group then said "I suggest you figure something out because there's no way you're hitting $400 with only 30 people." Clearly shes not from Texas and was never taught to drink in college. One of the guys came forward and asked if it would be easier if he just gave her $400 and if the bar tab never got that high, then the cash would just go to cover what was left. Her exact words were "I understand you're rich but its a $400 minimum." For starters, if you think having $400 is being rich, then lady you have a BIG problem coming your way in life. Also, we understand the minimum. We are trying to make it easy on you. After this debacle we never saw the waitress again. We waited 20 minutes and finally someone grabbed another waitress and asked for help. Its sad that we wasted well over 30 minutes arguing with the waitress and not being able to celebrate the event we were there for. She definitely put a damper on the start of the night. This is a place to visit if you're a tourist but for someone from the area, Id say take your business elsewhere.
Review Source:Five Stars here is for the quintessential "western saloon" experience White Elephant provides for when you have visitors to D/FW and Dallas just isn't providing anything cowboy-like.
Just perfect atmosphere with all the ancient cowboy hats hanging from the rafters, the random live music performance inside, the shuffleboard and pool tables, and certainly the cool rooftop area. Best of all, White Elephant has regulars! Not just tourists, this place has its share of regular Fort Worthians  and its best around a really long time.
I took a friend here who was visiting from Liverpool--I forced him to have a shot of Jack and a Bud (cowboy-style) and right away two good ol' gals at the bar were chatting us up: "What're YA'LL doin' heeyur? Whuut? You're from ING-land??" And then we accidentally took over a shuffleboard game that three good ol' boy cowboy types had going (they were taking a break from the game and we didn't realize it). They were super friendly and we ended up buying them shots, then we all took a picture together--they totally cowboy'd it up by grabbin' their beers and lighting up cigarettes for the picture. Everybody here was super-friendly and genuine.
We just love this bar!! Â The atmosphere and bartenders are fabulous...kinda funny that some tourists came in, looked way outta place, and even scared. Â They turned around and left...shoot, this kinda place makes us feel right at home. Â :) Â So whenever you are visiting Ft. Worth, you must stop by.
