    Unique creations
This place is so unique and so delicious. I don't think there's anything you could go wrong with on their menu. It's a smaller place, very intimate, and you can watch the chefs creating your desserts. They are beautiful and it's such a fun experience.

I picked up a cake for a surprise birthday party last night. Although underwhelmed by the decoration EVERYONE was overwhelmed with how good it tasted!!! White cake, Bavarian cream filling and chocolate frosting. I skipped the fondant covering of the cake so I understand it is harder to decorate but I was happy not to have to peel it off. I also get cakes from Mulberries, Gateaux and Whole Foods. Birthday cakes will all come from DBar from now on!

This is my favorite dessert place in Denver. The creme brulee is amazing! The best I have had so far, anywhere. They have a nice selection of wine and it is a fun date place. I would also suggest the cake and shake. Yes you get both. Yes it is also delicious.

Top notch food and beyond this world customer service! On short notice the entire team at D Bar went above and beyond to help me surprise my girlfriend. They created a one of a kind custom desert, kept a secret air tight, delivered a meal second to none, and then celebrated with us. We'll certainly be back time and again. Thank you D Bar! Thank you!

this was our third or fourth time to D Bar and it is always good. We always expect a wait so even though we stood in the entry area for an hour, we knew it was worth the wait (it was a friday night afterall). We sat at the community table, everyone was friendly, we had three desserts, 2 great ones and another not-so-much.

My wife got the Molten Lave thingy and it was a disappointment. Chef Keegan wasn't in the house this night so perhaps the level had slipped. But the cake was dry, suprisenly dry. And the best part, the chocolate sauce, was almost non-existent. the ratio of cherries-to-chocolate sauce was probably 4 to 1. more sauce would have helped the cake for sure.

I got the Jittery Monkey and it was so good. the server explained all of the complex parts very well and it was a joy to eat. the gelatin rum parts were a little strong for me but the rest of the dish (bananas, in-house made graham crackers, cheescake...) were excellent.

We also (as usual) got a cake and shake to go. drink the shake there (vanilla) and eat the cake the next day. the cake is ridiculously moist even the next day and it's realy something everyone should try.

Let me start with saying I have always been a big fan of D-Bar. I know Keegan well, and I know he tastes are amazing!

Yesterday we met here for lunch, off the bat the service was slow. It took us about 15min to get our drink order in. Although our server was friendly everything seemed to be taking about twice as long as normal. Service is my pet peeve; great service can almost make up for any other miss-steps

When it came to the food: two of the three were really good; the pork sandwich with the sweet potato chips was fresh and yummy. The Salmon salad was also good, although it did not look like the freshest fish. I had the pasta, I was very disappointed, it was almost flavor less, I almost put hot sauce on it to give it flavor. Also some of the food was cold when it arrived at the table.
All in all it was not the best meal, but what always makes up for it in my book is the super yummy deserts!! Amazing as always.

The first time I went here I was not too impressed, but I decided to give it another shot based on all the positive reviews as I was thinking that maybe they just had an off night (it happens); and I am glad I returned.  This time was a completely different experience.....
The service was good from the hostess to the waitress and the food was excellent.  We had the Cake and Shake, which is a chocolate cake and a small vanilla milkshake on the side.  We are not big fans of chocolate on chocolate cake, but we decided to try this anyways because it kind of seems as if this is their signature dessert; based on all the mentions of this dish in the reviews.  I have to say that we both agreed that this was a perfect slice of cake.  It wasn't overly sweet and was moist and dense, similar to a fudge brownie.  Very good!!  We also had the soufflé which I know is difficult to do well and keep from falling.  The soufflé was excellent and comes with a side of lemon ice cream and beignets.  To drink we had the birthday cake martini and it was delicious too.  The glass was rimmed with frosting and sprinkles and really packed a punch.  I will definitely come back again!!

As others have said, their cake and shake is delicious. GET IT! However, their service is spotty and getting a table can be difficult. I've never had any non-dessert items, but I've heard they're pretty tasty.

I stopped in around the lunch hour and picked up a cupcake to go and was not impressed. The cake was very dry.

Seriously, I try to find a reason to drag people here after dinner. Any reason.  It has very well-made desserts. Their cakes... just like the cakes from scratch mom used to make with thick frosting.  The choices! From cakes to creme brulee to mousse...   It is a trendy little spot, and always, always packed with folks.

It is spendy for dessert,  be warned, but you know, a little D Bar never hurt anyone now and then...

Who doesn't love a dessert bar, especially when the food is THIS good?  I brought my grandmother here before stock show one night.  We started with the loaded fries and bacon-wrapped dates- both were excellent!  The smokey richness of the bacon complimented the dates beautifully, and the little side salad had a lovely light vinaigrette.  That little acid kick, plus some salty almonds, kept the dish from being overly rich.  The crispy shoestring fries fries were sitting in some mac and cheese sauce, and smothered with cheese, bacon, and ranch.  This is a dish my husband will do nuts for!  Everything about it was overly indulgent, and fantastic in combination!

For mains we had the kobe sliders- juicy and flavorful- and the grilled cheese with tomato soup.  The combo of cheeses on the sandwich were gooey and flavorful while staying mild enough to not overpower the " fresh summer tomato" essence of the soup.

Finally, we finished with the 50 Shades of Earl Grey pudding cake- OMG so good!  Just, so good!

The entire experience- including comfortable seating and a friendly waitstaff- was splendidly indulgent.   Perfectly prepared comfort foods in a comfortable setting.   I can't wait to come back with my husband and indulge in fries and a cake and shake!

This is one of my FAVORITE places to eat in Denver and I always love to bring my friends!!  Yes, of course, their desserts are AMAZING... but I love their FOOD too!  Their crue fries are amazing, baked mac and cheese and their pizza salad sandwich are all my favorites.  Finish that off with their cake and shake or the molten cake thingy and it has been a WONDERFUL night.  GREAT PLACE TO EAT!!

This is a review for the desserts only - which are wonderful. The service was very good, too. But when you go out to eat - even if it's a restaurant that has a main focus on desserts - the space you are in, the surroundings are important, too.

The space for D Bar is far too small. Those waiting for seats had no place to go, standing along the entry area, staring at those who are eating,  door constantly being held open, cool air streaming in on diner.s.

I'm sure there is some reason that Chef Keegan selected such a space. I'm guessing the thought was it was an intimate space. But an intimate space is a bedroom, not a diner.

If you insist on such a tiny space, at least have more respect for your diners by accepting reservations. Everyone would be more comfortable.

To be fair, I'm going to have to go in for a proper sit-down dinner.  This review is only in regard to a quick stop for to-go dessert.

Went on a Thursday night- the place was packed, and we were told it would be a 45 min wait for two people.  Since we only wanted dessert, we headed up to the counter to grab sweets to-go.  The woman at the register was incredibly nice, telling us about the desserts, and talking to us about the restaurant (we wanted to know if it was always that crazy; apparently it had been that way for the past two weeks.)

I grabbed a chocolate creme cup concoction thing, while my boyfriend chose a miniature lemon meringue pie.  They were both amazing!  My chocolate cup of amazing-ness was so good, I almost didn't share.  His lemon meringue was so light, and delicate, and just the right contrast between sour and sweet.  I honestly don't know who chose better.  (Also, his meringue had sparkles.  Sparkles!)

I can't wait to go there for dinner!

Good food, but damn, when they tell you it's a 30 min wait and you wait over an hour, there's something wrong.

I haven't eaten entrees here in over a year, so I don't feel qualified to comment on what they have now (but holygods, it was good last time), but I was just there for desserts with friends.

    STILL. AMAZING.

No, seriously. The waffle with chocolate, caramel ice cream, and faux bananas foster was my favorite, although the "bag o' donuts" (cinnamon sugar covered donut holes, fresh from the fryer, with chocolate, caramel, and vanilla dipping sauces) were also amazeballs.

You know what? It was all great.  Plus, the service was fantastic (and a soothing balm after dinner at Abyssinia, where our server loathed our very existence before we walked in), with the staff doing a great job of dealing with so many people in such a tiny dining space.  Do yourself a favor, and hit that place up.  Tap that dessert booty like it's closing time and you've done tequila shots, trust me.

Went with son and wife Friday night.  We got there during happy hour prices.  Only one table occupied when we arrived.  Son wanted to sit at the bar and watch the delightful staff make the desserts.

Started with the cheesy fries as appetizer.  Fries cooked perfectly and tasted great.

My wife and I had the tomato basil soup and frilled cheese pannini sandwich  Both were very tasty and cheese was melted just right as it was very gooey.  Soup was very flavorful.  Only improvement would be to serve the soup a little hotter as it wasn't quite hot enough to suit us.  My son had the pizza salad sandwich and he liked it also.

For desserts, my son ordered the faux banana foster waffle and my wife ordered the chocolate soufflé.  Both were excellent to the last bite.

We love this place.  By the time we were ready to leave, the tables we all taken and a line was starting to queue up at 6:30pm.  Highly recommend D Bar!

This was our first visit for a specail birthday dessert for my husband.  They opened at 5pm tonight and we showed up at 5:15pm.  There were about 6 people in line for take-out.  Almost every seat was already taken.  Luckily there were 3 open seats together  at the bar for us.  These were the ideal seats for us because we wanted to see the desserts being made.

We were served a carafe of water.  We thought our order would take a lot longer than it did, but the server entered the order fairly fast.

    We ordered:
Cake and Vanilla Shake- cake big enough to share

Creme Brulee- garnished with berries and a mini gingerbreadman

Deconstructed Pumpkin Cheesecake-  YES!!!!!  Absolutely loved it.  Enjoyed watching it being made.  I don't think I would order anything else.

Doppio Espresso- came with a stick of wrapped chocolate on the side

16 ounce Chai Tea- huge, a bargain for $3.50.

This whole experience was everything I thought it would be.  Luckily we didn't have to wait.  When we left, the line was almost out the door.

We want to come back for breakfast or lunch.

Ventured back to D Bar for lunch this week and was very impressed with my 4-cheese pannini and tomato soup.  The side salad was huge and the donut holes for dessert were good (although a certain breakfast place does them way better.)

    I'll be back.

I am from Seattle, but I am not exaggerating when I say that it would be worth flying to Denver just to get dessert here!  To me, everything was spot on: the service was great, the food tasted amazing, the presentation of the dishes was unique and pleasing to the eye and the atmosphere was welcoming, friendly and fun!

Maybe I got really lucky, but I came here with a friend at 10pm on a Friday and we only had to wait a couple minutes before sitting at the bar.  I felt like I had won the lottery or had a glimpse into what heaven must be like since we got to sit there and watch them prepare all the beautiful and delicious desserts.  I am pretty sure that the women working probably thought I was crazy because I kept staring, but I was just so enthralled by everything that was going on...that and I love to cook, so I am always interested to see different food preparation techniques.

It was so interesting to see all the parts and pieces that went into making each one amazing in its own right...a mixture of sauces from bottles, cold pastries from the fridge, hot delicacies from the oven and plenty of heart and soul!  It was amazing to see the operation in motion!

For our dessert experience, we got the lemonrific (it was terrific!), which featured lemon and raspberry sweets on a rectangular plate and the D = Mc2 which had three chocolate delicacies featured on the edge and a lovely artistry of chocolate sauce in the middle...this description does not do the beautiful plate justice, but it is the best I can do to pay homage to the dessert.  I loved that each dessert had a mixture of different flavors, textures and temperatures, which I know from my own experience hosting dinner parties isn't always easy.  Even though the place was packed, I could tell that care went into each and every dessert that was served up.

Yes, the space is a little bit on the small side, but with everyone in the most amazing sugar coma one might ever experience, there is no shortage of love to go around, so you feel like you have been welcomed into some big extended family.  I can't wait to make my return to Denver just to come back here!

TOTAL GOURMET DESSERT PERFECTION!!!  OMG, every single item we've tried on their menu has been A-MAZING!  We've been there approximately 3 times now and loved the yummy food and stellar service every single time (Hint: Cake & Shake... JUST GET IT and you'll GET IT :-P !!!).

The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that the business space itself is SOOO cramped and tee-nee tiny.  There's literally only enough sitting room for like maybe 15- 20 people max! It's very hard (and stressful) just to get to the bathroom and in the winter time you can kinda forget about getting a seat inside unless you want to wait for several hours.

However, it's totally worth the wait though if you are willing :) I'd give it a 4.8 if the rating scale allowed.

The Boy and I will be celebrating our 8th anniversary this December.  When we hit that momentous 10th anniversary, we will be celebrating our non-marriage with a reception-like formal party.   This still being a few years off we've not made any decisive plans, save one:  I have officially and unilaterally decided that D Bar will be the provide of our non-wedding cake.

It is beyond any doubt the best cake I have ever tasted, and whenever I order the Cake and Shake at D Bar, I ended up snacking on that single slice of cake for 3 or 4 days afterward because it's so rich and sweet and bitter and perfect that a few bites is all you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Do yourself a favor and get to D Bar on a weekday between 5-7pm; any later than and you will be standing around for quite some time as they do not accept reservations, they are quite small (especially when the patio is closed for the winter) and they are justifiably very popular.

As you have probably gathered, I would recommend you start off with the cake and shake.  But don't be afraid to branch out - I've yet to try anything on their menu that I did not love, entrees included.  Most recently I shared an order of sliders and a pizza salad sandwich with my mother for her birthday and we couldn't decide who made the better choice.

Prices are slightly higher than average but very reasonable - expect to spend around $10-15 for an entree and $8-12 for dessert.

In her skill and her beauty, Chef Briana is mesmerizing!  I highly recommend waiting for a table at the bar where you get a great view of the kitchen and marvel as she assembles the artfully delicious plates like a well choreographed ballet (ahem! or some other much more masculine metaphor).  Be warned!  She may look like she's deeply focused on her work (she is), but she is not tuned out to what's going on around her.  She hears everything!

I had what was probably the least elaborate desert on the menu, appearance-wise: four cookies and ice cold milk, freshly baked to order (the cookies, not the milk).  Four different kinds, all thick and chewy, melty and warm from the oven, and yes, it is as awesome as it sounds.  The glass of milk was a little small (only about a cup), but rich (whole, I'm guessing).

I also (actually started with) the pizza salad sandwich, a round flatbread (about 8" diameter) with basil pesto, salad greens, goat cheese, mozzarella, and marinated cherry tomatoes, and a glass of pinot noir.  Very good and plenty filling.

Too many things to try here on a single visit.  I will be back, and I will be bringing friends to whom I can heartily recommend dinner and desert here.

Neat venue - simple menu.  I think it would be stellar if they had more options for food and wine, but that's because I have special food needs.  I literally couldn't eat a thing there :(
But I has wine, some very expensive ($3/scoop!?!?) but great sorbet and the service was good.

Big crowds and a pricier-than-usual menu might put off some, but in the end, there's not many places like D Bar - let alone one that delivers such an amazing dessert experience to end the night.

My favorite dessert on their menu is their uniquely named "D=MC squared" which somehow mixes all of my favorite things in the whole wide dessert world into a single menu item: rice krispies, pralines, chocolate, and caramel. It's really super mm-mmm good.

Pro tip: Put your name down early. Bring cards or something for entertainment. Return 45 minutes later to enjoy being seated. Then wait another 30 minutes for your dessert to be freshly prepared.

One can only hope they'd expand to another location in town to offset the crowds, but for now, it's one of a kind and, in my opinion, definitely worth that extra wait.

I LOVE THE FOOD NETWORK. I LOVE KEEGAN GERHARD. I LOVE SWEETS.

Okay. So, obviously, it would make sense that d bar is close to and/or precisely my idea of PERFECT. Add in the fact that their savory dishes are pretty good, too, and you've got a definite 4-star establishment. I had the b.a.c.t (applewood bacon, avocado, white cheddar, tomato), served with a simple salad, and it was tasty. But the highlight and the real reason to come here are the desserts--duh!

The "molten cake thingy everybody has...(but simpler!)" is a heavenly blend of dark chocolate, with a melted chocolate center, served with a side of vanilla ice cream, and I'm pretty sure you could just sit there and melt with the chocolate, and life would be okay. It's just so damn good. Even the milk and cookies are great. Yes, yes, I did have two desserts and one entree. Don't judge me.

Overall, it's a great place to people watch, eat amazing desserts, and just be in the presence of a real Food Network star... I couldn't really ask for more.

I went here with girlfriends after dinner at Panzano.  I'm a fan despite it not at all being what I expected.

We got in late after a late dinner and so the dessert case was DEFINITELY picked over.  Also, I was really hoping we'd have the opportunity to sit outside, but all that was available was seating at the 'community table' in the center of the bustling shop.

My dessert and the desserts of my friends were really, really good.  I got the lava cake, my one friend got the cake & shake and my other friend got the waffle and ice cream thing.

Everything was top notch and the vibe is fun and hip and indulngent.  I will defnitely be back.

The highlight for me, however, was this RIDICULOUSLY hot 24 year old dark haired, dark eyed waiter who was likely gay and at the very least too young, but wow.  Yum.  Watching him was ALMOST as decadent as the dessert.

    Thanks D-Bar!

Tip: Sit by the bar and you will get to see a show. You'll get to see some yummy desserts being made! I had the MAC AND CHEESE ($9)  which is made w/ 4 cheeses and topped with cheez-its and panko bread crumbs. The boyfriend got the SOUTHERN FRIED BELGIAN ($11) with honey mustard and grilled chicken (think waffle chicken burger) and it came with sweet potato fries. This was pleasantly surprising! For dessert we had the CAKE AND SHAKE (chocolate cake + malt shake). The cake was very moist and is big enough to share the slice.

Overall, I was surprised that not only is the dessert good, but the main course foods were good as well.  However, I don't know if the small serving of mac and cheese is worth the $9 after all it is just pasta and cheese! I recommend trying it for the experience though. I will be back to taste more desserts as I am a dessert fanatic =)

Classy. Who doesn't like a place that has a classy feel. Even their water bottle is made to look classy. I'm sold.

    Fooooood:
    - Cobb Salad ($9): Surprise? My friend was in love with their salad. It was a medium-sized portion but it had very fresh ingredients. Yum. Want to look rich and sophisticated? Get this.
    - Strawberry smoothie ($3.99): Honestly this was meh. It wasn't special. Definitely had an artificial taste and it seemed a little bit cheap. Meh. There must be better things here.
    - Sampler ($9): There was seriously a sample of like 6 different chocolates and a macaroon. Some were delicious and some were okay. The macaroons were nothing too special though.
    - Cake & Shake ($9): Holy. The fatty piece of chocolate cake looked ginormous with very thick layers of chocolate cream. It was so moist too! This was not a bad choice at all. The vanilla milkshake was decent also. I wasn't wow'd too much, but it was a good combo.

    Pro:
    - Very friendly staff. Thanks for helping us know where to visit around the city
    - Classy feel with great decor.
    - Come after 5pm and you get a dinner menu. There's more exquisite and exotic choices apparently.
    - They opened one in downtown San Diego too! Not that anyone in Denver really cares about that...

    Con:
    - With class comes cost. It's really overpriced for something that should shave off a few bucks. Too high!
    - Not too much seating inside or outside. Expect a line on normal days.

If I had a million dollars, I would make a daily visit to the D. I would also make a daily visit to the gym. Both must happen unless you want your life overweighing with love handles - this place could promote this! Yumm.

D Bar Desserts might be one of my favorite places to go to in Denver. It's a nice little restaurant. Now when I say little I mean it. The only reason I'am not giving D-Bar 5 stars is because of this reason.

My friends and I love this place, and like to come here a lot. This tends to be a problem during the winter or when it's raining or just not nice out. They have a really small seating area inside and a lot of people love this place. Making it about a 45 min wait or more every time we go, when the patio is not available.

I feel like when people go to D-Bar they only get desserts. I get it I mean after all it's what they are known for. But a little to people surprise is that, D-Bar actually has a really good lunch/dinner menu. I have had about 5 different things from there lunch/dinner menu. They have all been really good. My favorite thing on the menu at the moment is "the southern fried belgian".Which is a cheesy waffle with honey mustard and chicken. Made into a sandwich. It also comes served with a side of sweet potato fries. It's simply to die for.

On the other hand I have had much of there dessert menu and have loved it all.

    Over all D-Bar is amazing.

Ready to get your dessert on?

Generally we only come here for dessert.  We've come on multiple occasions and have never been disappointed.  The desserts are decent size and can easily be shared between two people.

D Bar fills up quickly and is probably not great for groups.  There is limited seating inside, and plenty of patio space.  My recommendation would be to sit at the bar facing the kitchen.  It's fun watching them prepare the dessert!

On our most recent visit, we decided to try the food.  My boyfriend ordered the Kobe sliders and I tried the southern fried Belgian (D Bar's version of chicken and waffles).  It was pretty hilarious when the set our plates down.  Three dainty sliders were placed in front of my boyfriend while I had this ginormous sandwich in front of me!  Lucky for my boyfriend, I was only able to eat half of my sandwich.  My chicken and waffle sandwich was delish!  The chicken was perfectly fried, leaving the meat succulent and flavorful.  My boyfriend inhaled his half!

The dessert menu isn't always the same as they rotate in new items.  I've had the passion fruit and chocolate soufflé; both were yummy.  They were accompanied with beignets and ice cream.  The churros with rum and coke ice cream were just ok.  I thought the churros were a little too greasy for my liking.

Service is just so-so and it can be hard to flag down the wait staff especially when it's busy.

Here's the game plan: EAT ALL THE DESSERTS! (think meme). Go with 5 people, order 2 desserts each = you sample 10 desserts all for the low price of around $25.

This was my dream but alas, it did not turn work out. However, I was not disappointed with anything we got. The mac & cheese plus the fries. ZOMG. We finished that fatty yummy meal with 3 desserts. For 5 girls, this was the perfect amount. I wonder if we had gotten all 10 desserts, would I have fallen into a sugar coma?? hmmmmm

My absolute favorite dessert there was the molten cake thingy. With the truffle baked inside. Yes. That is real. Just try it, trust me.

So disappointing... I wish I could give it 0 stars.

Four of us had dinner else wear and decided to stop here for dessert on a Wednesday night. We arrived around 9pm and were told it would be an hour wait for a table. So we waited.

After a little over an hour we were seated and then ignored for most of the evening. Two of us ordered coffee and one a diet coke. The waitress then proceeded to come by 10 minutes later to explain that they brew each cup of coffee to request and that is why it was taking so long. Eventually the coffee did arrive and it was only warm at best. Not sure why it took over 10 minutes to get a diet coke, but neither the coffee or the diet coke were ever refilled.

Over the protest of my buddy asking that we go ahead and leave now, we eventually flagged down our waitress so we could order dessert.

After almost 45 minutes our desserts arrived, and they were mediocre at best. Honestly my wife can make better desserts at home.

I am truly embarrassed that I recommended we stop here for desserts, and I will not be going back.

The famous D bar desserts!  We don't always get to make it up to Uptown, so when we do, I feel it necessary to get the most out of it.   D bar does not disappoint.  In fact, I consider all of 17th to be one of three Denver foodie hotspots.  ( highlands and Pearl street, the other 2)
Anyhow, portions are large, food is pretty tasty and pretty.  Great patio and very nice service as well.  Funny thing about this place is the only thing that hasn't wowed us is the desserts?

Would love to be able to write a review about the food. Hostess had a difficult time keeping track of the wait list. We
waited over 30 min but decided to leave after another couple was seated before us that had shown up after us, we timed it they had a 10 min wait. Yes we watched them as the hostess added their name to the list. When we asked about it she said there was one more couple on the list before us funny thing is people pay attention to the seating order and this kind of frustration can be prevented or at least alleviated.

I've been to D Bar twice now and it solidly deserves a 5 star for food.

The first time I went with family and friends when I had just moved into my new place in Denver and everyone had RAVE reviews about their meals (and of course our desserts).  This second time, I venture in on my own for a quick lunch before running some errands.

I ordered the B.A.C.T. panini (bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese and tomato) and it was DIVINE.  The first time I was there my bestie and I ordered the milk and cookies for dessert (which I, in an attempt to control calories, talked myself out of this time around) and they were exquisite.  Baked to order, we got the chocolate chip cookies, which were great, and the snickerdoodles, which were OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD.  Seriously, people, is there ever anything better than a warm, gooey, freshly-baked cookie?  I think not.

The only think that knocks D Bar down a star is the service.  The first time we went, the service was standard - not anything to write home about.  This time, though, I waited an inordinate amount of time before even being approached with a menu.  When D Bar steps up its service, I'll step up my rating.

Good food, not just desserts, never go with a "group".

It cracks me up when someone complains about waiting to sit at D Bar, no kidding- its soooo small.  Don't go with more than four people, ideally only two, and just expect to wait.  I will say I hate that they won't do most of their desserts to go; you can get a few treats from the display but none of the things you really wanted to get.

So now that you are there, and you have finally gotten a seat, don't forget they aren't just desserts.  Get the mac and cheese (with lobster tempura of course) or my favorite- the pizza salad sandwich with goat cheese, lettuce and tomatoes in flat bread (mmm).  The menu changes periodically but I've never had complaints about their dinner/lunch menu.

Now for dessert, the cake and shake (a giant piece of chocolate cake accompanied by a milk shake with malt balls) is too rich for me but I know people love it.  The molten cake thingy is also both a staple and too rich for me.  That being said, I go for the more seasonal selections and they are absolutely delicious.  Last night it was a lemon suffle with raspberry compote, trust me I didn't offer to share a single bite.

Keegan is the celebrity chef in residence but let's be honest, I'm pretty sure Lisa is both the genius behind the menu and the personality.

My advice: go for a date or friendly lunch but go early and don't be shy about sitting shoulder to shoulder with strangers at the chef's window.  Get food AND something sweet, might as well throw in a sparkling wine.  If you aren't in the mood for that, go elsewhere and leave the table space open for someone waiting outside.

D = Disappointing.  Went here last night after dinner and have wanted to check it out for a long time.  Had heard great things and Yelp has such strong ratings and reviews I was sure we were in for a treat.

We had finished our dinner and wanted some dessert so our group of 6 called ahead and go seated promptly outside.  The service was excellent and gets a 5/5

We all decided to get something new so we could try a lot of different things.

d=mc^2  This dessert sounds amazing and partially is.  It is presented in a modern art type fashion with different desserts on different sides of the plate.  One tasted like bland egg (almost like extra bland flan?), (hard to do when it looked so good) another was an extremely small scoop of ice cream on toffee crumbles ( tasted great but so small it was kinda lame) and then in the corner was the best part of the dessert: a rice krispy chocolate  sliver of salty caramel cake?  good but small as well.  Overall the dessert is a 2.5/5.

bag "o" doughnuts:  These were round doughnuts with 3 dipping sauces.  Good but I'd prefer dunkin doughnuts or sunrise doughnuts.  3.5/5

My girlfriend got a chocalte malt.  It was so malty it honestly tasted like pure malt with no chocalate.  It sucked! 1/5

Another couple got the cake and shake.  The cake was amazing and super chocolaty but again the shake was hurt for sure.  overall i'd give that dessert a 3/5

Prices are expensive for what you get FOR SURE.

This place is kinda fun to go to but the food is certainly a let down.  I'm  blown away Yelp would give this place such strong ratings when in reality, its just a famous hyped up place.  Any desserts that the women in my family make blow all of them out of the water.  I'll get my sweets from gmas house to go instead!

    Big time disappointment- won't return

    Shall I compare D Bar to a summer's day?
    Desserts here are more lovely and more temperate;
Impatient diners cake and shake the sweets of May,
    And d = mc2  hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the ch churro shines,
    And often is rum and coke ice cream dimm'd;
And every d bar soufflé sometime declines,
    By chance or nature's crème brulee untrimm'd;
But thy bom bom POW shall not fade,
    Nor lose possession of apricot chamo ow'st;
Nor shall the molten cake thingy everybody has wander'st in his shade,
When in ice cream sandwich time thou grow'st:
So long as milk and cookies be or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and D Bar gives life to thee.

My expectations were high; very high.
We had just finished a boring dinner with a very boring dessert and I said, "I need chocolate and a little Port." Jenn B. said, "D bar."
I had never had the opportunity to visit this infamous dessert palace and said, "okay."
The four of us ventured over, were immediately seated (a rarity I understand-) and...
We were served cold water with No ice. Perfect!
    Then...a glass of Tawny.
And then...cake and shake.  Perfect chocolate cake with a side of chocolate shake.
    Wow!
Skip dinner and go straight to dessert.
