I've  been coming to the DD ever since I returned to Irvine.  I really like this place, I visit almost every day and feel very comfortable. The bartenders are great and provided it isn't super busy, the service is good. Not only do they serve the tables they also make the cocktails and pour the beer. So when its busy the girls have to work really hard. They are good at what they do.
I really like the newly updated decor and the new wine selection and I for one was happy to see the referee outfits go. Â The red evening vests are classy.
An added bonus is that they are the only place open til 2AM, something Irvine was missing.
Terrible service. Came for a ufc fight. None of the service staff have uniforms or anything to designate that they work got the establishment. Can't tell who even works here.
Waited over 45 minutes for food before finally having to go to the bar to get someone's attention. After telling them we never got our food they had the gall to tell us they did.
Had then take it off our check. Will not be coming back.
Crowd & Ambiance: The seemingly 'regulars' of this place reminded me of people you would find in Newport. Ya know, the kind that goes to Pierce Street Annex - Single, over-the-hill, loud, obnoxious, and plastic. You can tell a man decorated the place. It's filled with over-sized black pleather chairs that are better suited for a seedy Vegas casino lounge and are obviously way too big for the space (wait staff could barely get around). They had a small wall towards the front painted with chalkboard paint and labeled "Coming Soon..." and had a mock-up of what their new menu was supposed to be like. Don't tell me what I COULD possibly have in the future. It doesn't make me want to come back, it makes me more critical of what SHOULD BE NOW. I could barely tell it was a SPORTS lounge if it weren't for the numerous TV screens playing sports all around. The largest TV was probably a 47-inch at best, but at a sports lounge, I had expected at least one massive screen with maybe a projector. A member of my group asked a staff member if one of the TVs could be tuned into a baseball game, he was happy to oblige until we found out that the SPORTS lounge didn't subscribe to the SPORTS channel that aired the game. I would not call myself a sports fanatic, but I would think that a place that advertises itself as a SPORTS lounge would have all those premium sports packages on their DirectTV subscription. So instead we were stuck watching Bull Durham.
Drinks: The specialty cocktails menu was a bit pretentious, including items that had fruit muddled with herbs. I ordered the Strawberry Basil Cooler (or something similarly named), which was supposed to have strawberries muddled with basil and vodka. It was refreshing and light on the alcohol content as I anticipated, but I hoped to have some strawberries mixed with basil at the bottom of my glass to nibble on after I finished my drink. Sadly, there was barely any fruit to be seen. The beers on tap left me unimpressed, and their glasses mismatched the beers. Example: Dos Equis glass - no Dos Equis on tap, just in the bottle and they don't pour it in the glass? The mismatched bar-ware doesn't make the place at all charming or eclectic. It makes it look cheap.
Food: The menu can also be described as pretentious, serving up a meat and cheese platter, prosciutto and fig flat bread, and ahi tuna just to name a few of their food items. Not necessarily a bad thing, as I like prosciutto and ahi tuna. My group and I ordered the meat and cheese platter and the potato skins to start. Both dishes met our expectations. (It would be pretty sad to mess up on putting sliced deli meat and cheese on a plate as well as the bar-food standard of potato skins, right?) Later that evening, we ordered a prosciutto flat bread and spinach and artichoke dip, which we never got. This brings me to the service portion of this review...
Service: EXTREMELY poor. The bar was terribly understaffed for the event - UFC fight night and they were showing it for free (technically a 2 drink minimum, but they didn't really keep track), so the place was packed. Having been open for a few years now, the amount of people they had on staff for this kind of event is unacceptable. I was there for 4 hours, and at any given point in the evening, I could count about 3 people at the front of the house. Within the 4 hours we were there, we were checked on by a staff member less than once per hour. Other tables and groups seemed to have the same issue as I observed a few tables having to walk up to the bar to get what they wanted because they waited for so long for a waitress. So about that flat bread and artichoke dip - we waited around 45 minutes for it before we gave up and I walked myself over to the bar to close our tab. I overheard the bartender and a redheaded waitress discussing my tab only to find out that the flat bread and dip were made, but delivered to the wrong table! Not only did THEY figure this out, but they tried to charge my group and I for the two items! When I asked the bartender to make the correction, he tried to insist that my table received the food. The waitress then intervened and gave me two options: to void out the items or they could make them for us. I told her we had already been waiting for 45 minutes for those items and never got them and we don't want to wait any more. All I got was a half-assed "sorry 'bout that" from the bartender; not even one from the redheaded waitress who made the mistake of giving our order to the wrong table.
Additional Info: Smokers would like this place since all you have to do is step outside the front doors and light up even though California law states that smoking is prohibited in and within 20-feet of public buildings (Senate bill AB846). This wouldn't have bothered me so much if they hadn't kept the doors wide open and let in all the secondhand smoke. FYI: the place could be fined up to $500 each time for this offense.
Summary: Don't go. Ever.
Only gets two stars for comedy night and exposed booties of waitresses. Â Chairs are filthy, TVs aren't really watchable, weird cave-like shape with bar in the back. Â Drinks are strong and good. Â Food is better than you would expect, but not edible unless you are drunk enough to enjoy dive bar food. Â Limited beer selection, but what they have is good.
Review Source:I'm literally sitting here at daily dose and I was so annoyed by this place I had to write a review. I'm not the type to complain unless I feel very uncomfortable or something just isn't right. My boyfriend and I just moved to San Diego from Arizona and are open and excited to try anything and everything in California. We met up at daily dose because it's near his work. I walked in and loved the feel and decor. It looked like a comfy lounge but with a casual touch. Cool! Perfect to watch game 1 of the hockey Stanley cup play offs.
I should mention I'm a woman as well as a server for 8 years. I give servers an enormous break when it comes to petty things. We ordered drinks which came out first and about 15 mins later, a prosciutto flatbread which never came out. We reminded her 30 mins later which she admitted to forgetting. No big deal I do this sometimes. She apologized and we closed out with her since she said she was leaving (yet she sat and flirted with the same dudes at the bar she did the whole time she was serving us). We were handed off to another server. I know what fake feels like I'm not stupid. There's a difference between genuine and hospitality and a chick just wanting your money. Since I was with my boyfriend I felt I was viewed as useless because i wouldn't be flirting with them. Each waitress we had (which they work as a team ) gave the impression that we were wasting thier time and a nuisance to thier establishment. We were sat dry for at least 15 mins with no water or drinks or food. I was ready to cash out and my boyfriend says "why don't you go up there and give
Them your card since they aren't coming over here?" uh no. I work my
Butt off for other people with a smile on my Face so I expect the same from my experiences. Â No wonder all the reviews say its always dead; unless you have male genitalia and flirty, sorry ladies you're getting fake service if they even remember or care that you're there.
There's a couple daily doses in Phoenix and I don't know if it's the same ownership. I doubt it. The service back home an food was 10x better. If the staff from OC daily dose reads this and says "well then go back home to AZ" how about have some respect for your job and what you do. If the owners' Â a guy , you're thinking with the wrong head and could be making so much more money in a busy spot. I find it extremely unprofessional, sloppy, and ignorant for letting your staff drink on the job. That shows disrespect for the company, themselves, and to me. Tighten up your game.
The reason I am giving this place a 2 star review is the awful food I had here. I ordered the BBQ chicken flat bread pizza which was basically flat stale bread with a lot of bbq sauce and synthetic looking cheese on top. Worst part was I felt so sick after eating it and my whole body was burning up as if I had a fever. The only positive note on this place is the hot server that worked at the bar. She kept coming over to us to make sure we were doing good and was very friendly. The atmosphere and decor is very nice here. I enjoyed drinking here with my date but I can't give it a 3 star review because I was so horribly uncomfortable at my dates house from the bad food. I might give this place another shot if I am in the area but won't be eating here again.
Review Source:Who knew there was a cool little sports bar in the semi-upscale Park Place center? I sure would not know, as I avoid this parking lot almost as much as the one at Diamond Jamboree just up the street.
Friendly, efficient, and hot staff keeps this place packed with mostly dudes drinkin and watchin sports. Well what do you expect, it is a sports bar. But this one is cleaner and friendlier than most, and very light and airy with floor to ceiling windows in front. Dark closed up sports bars are a pet peeve of mine, so this was to my liking.
We tried some of the bar food, and it was all above average, and they gave a generous wine poor. HH is M-F 4-7:00, with $1 tacos and $3 Coronas' on Tuesdays. Although it does seem out of place here, when in the area and needing to check in on your game of interest, this is about the best option for miles in this area.
I love the daily dose. Â Its a sports bar people. Â Lots of TVs going, hootin and hollerin and a lot of men watching all the sporting activity on TV and off of it.
Daily shot specials for $3, descent food and interesting motiff. Â Yeah, it sits in Park Place next to Ruth Chris & mother's and houstons, but a little nitty gritty never hurt anyone now did it?
Being located in Irvine you would think its would be kind of stuffy, but its totally the opposite. Everyone was friendly and good service. Food is above par for a bar. Salads are very good. Wednesday is Comedy nite and more times then none.. its is PACKED! Â The owners are great down-to-earth people! You can tell they're trying to bring a different twist to the area! They have drink specials every nite. Great place to bring your out of town clients.
Review Source:This place has a weird feel to it. Sure, it's a sports bar with like a dozen or so big screen tv's all around, but why are there so much feminine motif stuff here. It's just different, that's all.
Not bad, but It's not your traditional sports bar, and it does get the job done. Sure I can relax here in their lavender colored lounge chairs and enjoy a nice frosty brew at the same time, but still look at some eye candy that is providing me my beverages. It's a new concept for me.
I was in the area for the weekend to check out a local hospital, because I got offered a new internship. Today, was the day where there was two football games. After the first game, my friend, Christian, and I wanted to get food along with watching the second game; Seahawks vs Redskins.
The place wasnt that packed, but filled with Seahawks fan. I love the chairs, because it was all lounge chairs so it was wide and really comfertable. When we got the menu for the food, it wasnt the type of food that I thought it would be at a sports bar. The menu was basically more trendy with panini, mac & cheese, and sliders. There was NO burgers or buffalo wings. I ended up ordering the calm chowder bread bowl, and Christian ordered potato skins.
* CLAM CHOWDER BREAD BOWL: The clam chowder wasnt the most amazing, but the bread bowl was fresh, not hard, and cooked perfectly. The dish also came with a small piece of bread. I ate everything, and I loved the fact that I can get rid of evidence of what I ate since I was eating the bowl too.
* POTATO SKINS: My friend loved the potato skins, but loved the indian beer he got instead since he had 3 of them. Â
This is a local sport fans joint where you can go and mingle with your fellow fans, and feel comfertable. I loved the place because of the chairs, everyone seem to be comfertable with each other where we can start a random conversation, TVs are everywhere, full bar, and the food is decent. The only downsides are that there was only 1 waitress, and she wasnt that great. The food selection wasnt the typical sports bar type of food. I wish they would add typical bar foods, because we were literally debating on leaving because of this reason. There was colorful characters at the bar today for the game. Being so happy from the touchdowns, I saw a guy jump another guy with his legs wrapped around his waist, a guy yell, "Impregnant me!", and a guy spank a woman's bum. I forgot how crazy people get with football games! This is a great joint to come and hang out to watch games and socialize. I wouldnt come here to eat honestly unless you want something light and small.
SMALL!! I was in town and stopped by there because of the reviews. Walked in on a Thursday night there was nowhere to sit. Looked like a decent place but it is so small can only accommodate maybe 50 people. I was disappointed, someone offered me their seat at the bar when they left (who knows when that would be) but I didn't want to wait. Went to Classic Q plenty of room.
Review Source:When my fiance and I moved to OC we found this place and were very excited to find a neighborhood bar to grab happy hour and a snack at. Â As time went on, we began to like the Daily Dose less and less. Â First off they are often understaffed. Â I understand the girls who work there want to make more money, but if you don't staff for busy nights or peak times, then when you have those money making busy nights people will be left feeling neglected as we have.
What I do like is that they have Photo hunt. Â And a shot and drink special everyday.
This place is just okay.
I had a few hours on a weekend afternoon to kill, so I stopped in for a beer, a bite, and some college football. Â The waitress/bartender was very nice and attentive, but there were not a whole lot of other patrons in the place, so I can't talk about how crowded it gets. Â The seating was comfortable, and there were lots of TVs, so everyone should have a good viewing angle and more than one game to follow.
There was a decent selection of beers, and checking in unlocked a drink deal when I was there. Â Food was OK. Â I did not want something heavy, and there were no a lot of lighter options on the menu. Â I went with the seared ahi which was just decent, really not any better than you might get from one of the better supermarket or strip mall sushi outlets. Â It probably is not the best choice for a sports bar, bit it is pretty easy to do fresh, which this one came out of the cooler. Â Again, it was not bad, but just nothing great.
My buddies and I have been going to DD for over a year because it was close to work, but now we just can't take it anymore. This place can't decide if it's a wine bar, sports bar, or chick bar.
We went there for the last time last week, here's why:
The tap was empty on 2 of the beers we ordered, so they changed out the kegs after 10 minutes, and served us warm beer.
The sexy outfits for the bartenders are gone and replaced by pink bowling shirts.
The new food menu takes so long to prepare, we finish pitchers of beer before our food arrives. It doesn't help that one look at the guy in the kitchen, and you don't want your food anymore!
The new bartender girls are so damn unfriendly, it hurts.
This place really could have something going for it. I think the owner is absent minded. After going to this bar regularly for over a year, we've only ran across the owner once or twice. I don't think she knows much about her own business.
My buddies and I found a new place in Costa Mesa that has their act together.
**Review for Industry Night Only**
I've been told this place gets hoppinn' for things such as Comedy Night. However, that was not when I went.
Came here on Sunday of Labor Day Weekend, expecting it to be at least a little happening...nope! Was there from 11PM-2AM, there were people when we first got there, but by 12:30ish it was dead.
Drinks are just OKAY priced. If I hadn't been getting 50% off, I would not have been a very happy camper at all! $6 for a Blue Moon in a bottle? Not-uh.
The ambiance is pretty nice, the place is clean. I would definitely describe this place as being closer to a lounge than a sport's bar, although they do have a TON of tv's for such a small place.
A couple of peopole in my group ordered appetizers, and while they looked pretty good, I did not try them.
All in all, I would go for maybe a drink if my friend's were going or we wanted something where we could just chill real quick before heading somewhere else.
Came here on a Thursday night during happy hour with some friends to watch the NBA finals game. It's been a while since I've been, but from what I remember, the drinks were at a decent price, around $6-10. Our waitress recommended a few cocktails and shots, and they were all amazing!
I was really surprised at the food too! We ordered a few appetizers to share. The meat, cheese and bread platter and the potato skins are amazing! And the prices are not bad at all if you come during happy hour. The overall atmosphere of the bar is pretty loud because it's a sports bar. They have TVs literally everywhere and makes it the perfect place to watch the game.
I've come here a couple times to watch the UFC fights. Both times the service has been great . The last time they ran out of ingredients for the potato skins I ordered, but the nice waitress kept coming back and apologizing, keeping me posted on the progress and even offered me a drink on her for the wait.
The atmosphere is pretty chill even on fight night so this is my new go to place for any UFC cards I wanna catch.
This review is strictly for the venue and atmosphere. I didn't eat or drink (other than Sprite) here.
My husband comes here religiously with his buddies, at least once a week. I call this his 'man cave'. He decided to have his bday get-together here this past Saturday, so it was my free pass to come check it out. At first, it was a weird location in the Michelson/Jamboree plaza. I thought the interior was perfectly decorated for a sports bar. The bartenders were dressed in really cute referee costumes. Everyone was very friendly. The owners are super nice people too.
Saturday nights are usually Karaoke Night, unless there's a fight on. Although this past Saturday was Fight Night, the owner still had Karaoke Night just for my husband's birthday. I thought that was a very nice gesture on her part, so thank you! We even sang a duet together, More Than Words. Everyone had a great time. I guess now I know why my husband keeps coming back. =)
Went to daily dose with my bro last night to watch the NBA finals and I had a pretty good time. Our waitress Heather was super on it with our drinks and even came back to remind us that happy hour was almost over. You would think that at a sports bar that's predominantly male dominated, waitresses would be less likely to cater to your needs because males patrons are generally the people that would order more/tip more, but over here, all the girls are super chill and attentive to your order. In fact, because I don't like the taste of bud-light, I asked Heather if it was cool to line the bottom with peach syrup and she hooked it up!
We ordered the meat plate, which was surprisingly good, but I remember their happy hour food specials being cheaper and there were more bar food options on the menu.
Followed by 2 orders of potato skins and 1 order of the tri-tip Brie sandwich( the potato skins were pretty bomb but the sandwich was a fail because the tri-tip was dry).
Overall, but-for the great service from our waitress, this place would've gotten a 3 star :).
This review is for their food.
I made the mistake of coming here and trying their food. They have Taco Tuesday where you can get $1 tacos. You get to choose from chicken, beef, or pork. I ordered 4 tacos thinking it would fill me up but it didn't. They did not look that small but they just don't fill you up. On top of that it took over 30 minutes for my order to come. The place wasn't even busy. The tacos are not that great at all. I feel like they're microwaved meat. This place might be alright if you came here for a few drinks.
I was in Irvine visiting some friends and they recommended coming here. The place is small yet quaint and I liked the fact they have at least 10 HDTV's (one of them is 60" I think) so I'm pretty sure they'll have your game on. I also liked the red, comfy lounge chairs & the leather booth seats along the wall.
They have a full bar w/a number of beers on tap so me & my friends were all happy by the end of the night. They also have your usual bar appetizers which are ok but what I really liked were the Spicy Fresh Shrimp Jalapeno Poppers (nice pieces of shrimp in a spicy jalapeno). And I've been told their tacos on Taco Tuesday are really good as well so I'll have to give them a try the next time I'm in town.
We came on Comedy Night (Wed) so it was interesting to see amateur comedians at work. 3 of the 4 comedians were good, while the last was just ok. He said he won a comedy competition the night before but I was not impressed.
Anyways, I actually came back the next day for lunch because it was Opening Day for baseball and my buddy wanted to watch the Reds game while I watched the other games that were on. This time I had their Tuna Wrap in a spinach tortilla (it's normally a sandwich but they were kind enough to make it in a wrap...SCORE!). And we met the owner Leslie & she was real cool. We chatted for a while & she even bought my friend & I a round of drinks. Besides, she was easy on the eyes...
I also liked the fact that they have ample parking (it's in a strip mall) & a video poker machine if you need to get your gamble fix on. If I lived in the area I'd be in here all the time! Definitely will be going back the next time I'm in town.
Let me first just say that this place does not stick out of a crowd like my thumb would. This place is small. When I first walked in, I wondered, "how are all the kickballers going to fit??" Ok, no problem small and cozy it is. I was pretty hungry when I arrived and ordered the Angus burger and chips. I really like how well the bread was toasted, was actually a bit crispy. The burger was a little tough but had some good flavor to it because of the cheese. BUT those chips!! I have been trying really hard to stay away from chips...but I had to finish every single chip!! Also, tried a slice of the Hawaiian pizza. I am not a fan of pineapple on my pizza, so I picked it off and just had some ham and cheese. It was alllright. The crust was thin, but it did have some good flavor.
The service, I credit the bartenders a lot for being able to handle over 40 kickballers and then a few other non-kickballer customers. This place is small, so they really had to work and move in between a lot of bodies to get food/drinks out.
I guess this place really doesn't get too crowded, but the tv's are small, but I think anything bigger and it would be too overwhelming for such a small place.
I love drinking here because the drinks are not outrageous!! The girls are always friendly and HOT! They have a little kitchen with good bar food and they now have KARAOKE on Saturday nights!! What more could you possibly want from a bar?
Oh, and the owner (who is also very personable, outgoing, and HOT) is always adding and trying new liquor, beer and food...
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Daily Dose!!
Really super random and out of place bar in that plaza with Ruth's Chris, Mother's Market, etc.
The food was gross and looked like plastic and the drinks were so-so. I don't know how else to describe this place other than... I would go somewhere else lol! The TVs aren't that big either so I was squinting to watch the game.
Pros: Relatively affordable drinks
Cons: Random location
I've been here a couple times with friends, and in general, I've always had a great time. It's in a random shopping center near the CPK and Sports Chalet off of Jamboree.
If you think that any bar in Irvine needs to be "stuffy" or "snooty", the Daily Dose is the exception. It's not necessarily a dive bar, but you definitely don't get the typical "OC" bar/lounge feel. The place isn't big, but there's a couple of tables and seats at the bar. Â They have a fully stocked bar too.
The drinks are pretty affordable too. Â If you show up on certain days, there have a bunch of drink specials.
The service here is pretty good too, but I'm not sure if that's because it's usually empty or if the service is just really that good. Â Either way, if you're looking for affordable drinks and a change of scenery, give this place a try.
What a tiny little bar! You almost pass it. It's right next to Starbucks. The bar seats about 6, with tables throughout this V shaped establishment.
Lots of TVs, and lots of guys! Every time I walk in I'm almost sure I'm going to be the only woman, and sometimes, I am! So it's really a guy's place....and the skimpy referee outfits the female bartenders and servers wear will tell you why. Between the sports, the boobs, and the very nice pour, it's a guy's place. But far be it from me to let a lot of testosterone get in my way....oh no, au contraire!
The manager (maybe owner?) Leslie was all for my book club, the Dive Bar Book Club, to come in and take up a very cozy and perfectly sized end of the V shape, by the window. She was kind enough to put a little sign welcoming us! On Tuesdays it's $1 tacos, and they are pretty decent! We had a bunch and loved each bite. They have about 8 appetizers, along with a few other dishes, like burgers and salads. It's not bad eats! Goes perfectly with your kicked up cocktail.
I'd come back here. The bartenders and servers were very attentive and friendly, and tried hard to keep our group in liquid form. And folks, that's what a Dive Bar Book Club is all about! And before you ask, yes, we talked about the book :)
Good things come in small packages and loaded with alcohol (HA! sounds like me on any given Saturday night). Â But the Daily Dose is small, intimate, cozy and stocked full of alcohol. Â Came here one fateful night - anticipating that I would have a beer or two, survive the night and be in bed by midnight.
...well, I was in bed by midnight but I was also severely trashed by the time we left the bar (around 10ish?) - we got to the bar at 7PM for happy hour. Â Pitchers and pitchers of beer followed by (party) shots of pineapple upside down cake and...some Bicardi 151. Â Fun times.
Drink specials are great while they lasted. Â The jukebox is fun but when the music is playing, it cancels out the sound from the TV (in other words, the sound from the TV is muted and the jukebox music is played over the sound system - so no simultaneous sports watching and rocking out to Glee). Â Chill place, great bartenders, fun times.
As for what happened after I left the Daily Dose and before I got to bed - complete blur. Â Proof that it was an epic night at the Daily Dose.
This bar is what Irvine was missing. It's the closest thing to the UCI campus that resembles a real bar. Everywhere else you go its a restaurant + bar. This place actually looks like a bar you'd expect in any big city. Except the inside of it looks pretty classy. They have nice lounge chairs, at least 5 TV's up, and a full bar.
I go mostly on Taco Tuesday for the $1 tacos and $3 Coronas. They actually have decent tacos! I was very surprised haha. They have Carne Asada, Chicken, and Al Pastor. I recommend the Carne asada ones.
They also have great events almost every day of the week. I know they have Comedy Night every wednesday at 9:30pm , with NO cover charge. And they have game days and of course superbowl specials.
You should really check out this place before you read the reviews. When I went I didnt get bad service or "dumb waitresses", so dont judge them based on what some people here have said.
I found this place off Living Social and bought the deal. I was surprised I had never heard of this place because of its location. It is tucked into the corner of the shopping center. Their website makes the place look way better than it is. The girls were great to look at, but our waitress was dumb as a stump. She pretty much ignored us. I asked her 4 times for a water, and she never brought it. Every time we ordered something she kept saying "we are out of that" "we are out of that" which was pretty surprising considering the menu was only 10 items or so.
I presented the Living Social deal on my phone and she was completely oblivious. I asked her to get the manager or the owner and she would not bring her out to talk to our table. She ended up charging our party the wrong amount. But, at this point, we were so sick of it we just payed the money and left.
Well  . . . the only reason I know about this place is because I have a friend who lives in one of those complexes nearby and she and the complex dwellers can walk to and from the Daily Dose, so that's their little hang.  They call it TOBT (the only bar in town).  My friend BEGGED me to go with her and her complex buddies so I gave it a shot.  But seriously, after 20 minutes there I wanted to give them all $20 so they could take a cab somewhere good!!!
This place is pretty lame! Â It's small, intimate and decently furnished and although there are very few patrons, I was thinking things were going to be OK when I first walked in the door. Â Super chill, but OK. Â What's bad about having the whole place to yourself with the Irvine complex people (I mean . . . duh but I'm trying to be positive here) Â Not OK. Â There was one server (in a ref outfit) but I couldn't get her attention to save my life - and the bar is smaller than my living room. Â Really? Â
When I got her attention I wished I'd never asked. Â She was new and didn't know how to use the TVs, so I missed the Colts game. Â The SD game was blacked out but she didn't know that so when I asked she just got nasty and insisted it was on some TV that it wasn't on. Â Confusing. Â Cluster. Â Waste of time. Â Stupid. Â Honestly, I waited tables back in the day and I'm still in the service industry. Â If you TRY, I'm with you. Â These people weren't trying a bit.
AND THE FOOD. Â ARE YOU KIDDING ME????? Â It's clearly Food For Less brand or Cosco. Â They only have a microwave and I'm not sure they're following directions. Â I got the pizza and some asian app - both were still FROZEN in the middle. Â I've had some bad food in my day but FROZEN in the middle kind of takes the cake. Â The server was nasty about it too . . . she took it back to the microwave and had her way with it and by the time I got it back it was like shoe leather. Â Thanks, Ms. Awesome. Â
Oh and to top it off you can smell bathroom smells in the main area. Â Uhhhhgrosso! Â Seriously!!! Â invest in some fans or something, this is vile!
Anyway, all I could think about the whole time I was there was how I could make a TON of money running a shuttle service to The Place in CdM from the Irvine complexes. Â I am proud of them for not drinking and driving but they seriously need to find a designated driver or start a house party!!!
This place stinks!!!
Food (4/10): Had the BBQ chicken pizza. It tasted like frozen dough that was a bit stale and mostly empty of anything resembling chicken or cheese as toppings and left me wanting. The spring rolls I started with weren't great but not horrible either. They also didn't have any Hoegaarden =/
Service (4/10): I had to go up to the bar after about 20 minutes and order my beer as the waitress (cute as she was) didn't approach my table. I waited around because servers do get busy and I figure she had some other stuff to handle. After others that came in after me got served, I figure she didn't see me come in so I went up and took initiative to enjoy me some Monday Night Football with a brewski.
Atmosphere (7/10): The saving grace. I was there on business and wanted a place to watch the Monday night game. The place is small but with plenty of seating. Regardless of where you sit, they'll be a TV no more than 20 feet away. The evening I was there it was pretty mellow and low key.

---COMMENTS---
Went w/one Laker friend & one Celtic loser for Game 6 Finals.
Taco Tuesday - Only $1 per taco. Not bad, but wouldn't have paid more than that.
The food in general seemed unappealing. The chips and salsa were definitely store-bought (chips were from Kirkland for sure).
Not much of a beer selection either, but the HH was dang cheap. We ordered pitchers of Bud Light throughout the entire HH for $6.75 each. Also had a draft mug of Hoegardden for $4.50.
APPEAL = 9
Why such a high score for appeal? Cause the Lakers are 1-0 here so far. Looking forward to another Laker win to go along cheap beers. Probably will wait till next season.
Cheers.
I really want to like this place because I like to route for underdog and this place seems like a bit of an underdog to me. I do like it...but I have to admit I'm not so much in love with it. I don't dream of one day having little Daily Dose babies with it.
The location seems a little odd to me, but I guess once you're inside a bar is a bar...and they do have some good drink deals. There is one server who always seems to be there and she's friendly and pleasant. The servers all wear little referee uniforms, which is kind of cute. They have lots of TVs for watching the game. The food we have tried there is good...nothing amazing, but good for bar food. I like the Spring Rolls.
We went here for Comedy Night one Wednesday...and ooooh geez. I'm not sure how to even describe what I experienced. It was just really odd. It was a very small group of people...1/2 of them which were in a large party together and were SOOOO drunk they were trying to talk to the comedians the whole time. It was kind of funny, but kind of awkward. At one point the comedian said something about about one of the girls and she yelled at him, "Oh yeah?! Well, I have a MOUTH!" Which had absolutely nothing to do with what the guy said. It was so random. The whole thing was like a confusing dream. I'm not going to blame the Daily Dose or the comedians for the oddness of it all...so, I guess I'm going to blame it on the drunks :P
THE GIST: Chill and quaint sports bar with nice ambiance.
OVERALL: With the glowing Hoegaarden sign in the window we decided to grab a beer as an after dinner snack. We've been checking out this place from the outside for a while and tonight we finally decided to have a taste of The Daily Dose (cute name by the way).
THE LOW-DOWN:
A) Open daily 11 AM - 2 AM
B) Service was good, friendly, and attentive.
C) It's a small but very comfy with warm red ambiance sports lounge with about 10 semi-big flat screens for you to watch anything from the current winter Olympics, basketball games, and some old school American Gladiators (at least that's what was playing on the TV the night we went)!
D) Updated high tech juke box: loved the Lil' Wayne playing and the old school random mix!
E) $5 Hoegaarden on TAP (wish they had chilled glasses.. then we would have given it a 4 star!)
WHAT ARE THE DEALS:
1) Margarita Mondays: $3 Margaritas
2) Taco Tuesdays: $1 Tacos, $3 Coronas
3) Wednesday: Late Happy Hour (9:30 PM to 11:30 PM)- $3 Domestics and some deal on Appetizers
4) Social Thursdays: $4 drinks till 11 PM
5) Martini Fridays: Half price Martinis till 11 PM (there was a DJ setting up the Friday night we went)
6) Saturday: Happy Hour 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm w/ Guest DJ
7) Industry Sundays: $3 Domestics 8:30 - 11:30 PM w/ live DJs
LAST WORDS: Not too shabby for Irvine!
