I stopped by for breakfast as I live behind this establishment. I figured for a little country style place it should have a decent breakfast. My first reaction when looking at the menu was that they were definitely proud of their food. This is not a cheap breakfast joint. At $7.25 for a "Quick two egg combo" this felt a bit expensive.
Regardless I order this meal with a Dr. Pepper.

I had ordered 2 eggs, bacon and wheat toast. The potatoes that are served with the breakfast seem more fitting next to steak than eggs. They are large chunks of potato and are normally served with bell peppers and onion.

The toast was 1 slice of bread, toasted and cut diagonally. I had to ask for butter and jelly. The bacon was anorexic and had too much fat for my liking. The eggs were ok but the rest of the meal being so lackluster for the price really had me just wanting to finish so I could leave.

My Dr Pepper came in a cup FULL of ice so I effectively had Dr Pepper flavor added to ice. I had it refilled and that was finished before I left.

I do not foresee myself ever venturing back into there for any reason in the future. I think I just expected much for value.

My previous review stands.  I've just got one question for this update:

Why is this place not packed at lunch?  They've got $4.99 lunch specials!  M-F, there's a single lunch option for $4.99, and it's been good stuff with a wide appeal - meatloaf, pot roast, tilapia - usually served with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.  OK, so the portions on the special are small (for a restaurant), but it's 5 dollars.  And if a big guy like me can make it until dinner on the lunch plate, I'm sure you normal folks will do just fine, especially with an endless cup of coffee or iced tea thrown into the mix.

The other location does such a great job.  However, my wife and I went to this location around 11:30 am for lunch.  It took them at least 10 minutes to seat us and they were not busy.  I thought that it must be the transition from breakfast to lunch.  So when we were finally seated, we were given breakfast menus.  We waited for about 10 additional minutes for the waitstaff to come by and no one showed up.  Unfortunately, we left and have not been back since.

I come here on Sundays for breakfast and have not been disappointed. My favorite is the Corned Beef Eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce is creamy, tangy and provides a nice contrast to the corned beef. The eggs are cooked perfectly and sit atop two crispy English muffins.

Another favorite is the Huevos Rancheros. It's topped with a crispy tortilla and freshly sliced avocado. The homestyle potatoes that accompany this and most other breakfasts have grilled peppers and onions.

Dorsey Doe is famous for their coffee and my personal favorite is a blend aptly named "More Please."

When you go there, take a moment to wander around and look at all the historical photos and antique furniture. This place is a hidden gem on the north side of The Woodlands.

I've been told their breakfast burritos are really good. I'll probably try one next weekend.

I've been here a couple of times before, and although I love to support local businesses, the service here was less than stellar. That is simply not the case anymore. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. It seems to be better-staffed since the expansion.
As far as the food, I got the chicken salad sandwich and shrimp bisque. The chicken salad had a great flavor, and the bisque was rich and creamy.
The Little Doe has re-earned a place in my list of go-to spots for coffee, a quick meal, and a quiet place to study (during the day before the live music starts).  I will definitely return.

We decided to try this place Sunday, 30 Sep 2012

For a place that boasts the best coffee in Texas, it's a shame that McDonald's plain old regular coffee is better.  What I was served was so bitter that no amount of cream could fix it.  When I asked if they had cream, the waitress said yes and then brought me a half a coffee cup of white liquid that clearly was not cream.  After tasting I knew it was half and half.  I asked the waitress if I could have the cream and she stated, "That is our cream."  She offered whole milk or skim milk as a replacement.  Ok so they don't know the difference.

About 2 minutes after we ordered a young man came out with 2 plates of food and tried to give them to us.   No, not ours, tried another table, nope, not theirs either.  So the poor guy is standing there holding the food looking around hopelessly.  I snagged a waitress and asked her to help him and she said to him, "I told you the corner."  In his defense it is not a round room.  It took 39 minutes to get our food and they were not even close to slammed.

When we did get our food, the same young man, not our waitress,  set my husband's plate down and it had a bowl with an avocado in it sitting ON his eggs.  Before we could even figure out why there was a bowl on his eggs, the young man picked up the bowl and took it to another table.  We just shook our heads.  My egg yolks had broken so the eggs were nearly hard cooked and the one, yes only one, slice of toast looked like it had been pressed and fried on the grill and was limp.  It was so sad it was funny.  I asked for some actual toast that was, ahh, toasted and not grilled and was eventually brought out the exact same thing.  Of course the eggs were cold by then.  Upon tasting the pseudo toast, it had the smell and flavor (using the word loosely) of old grease.

We spoke to the manager about our experience, and she did her best to make us happy by refunding the charge for our meals and only charging us for the drinks.  We tipped the waitress for the full amount of the tab before the deduction, but probably shouldn't have done so.

We may try this place for lunch, but never ever again for breakfast.

recently we decided to give this place another try for breakfast. i'll save you all the many details of why this visit will be our last, and skip right to it. this place is poorly managed, staffed by a bunch of people who would seemingly be somewhere else (except for one girl who walked everywhere quickly), and generally unclean.

oh yeah, my wife's oatmeal was served in a bowl on a plate with bread crumbs on it. toast was not an option on this order. i'm sure if i looked under the plate i would have seen a greasy fingerprint... DISGUSTING.

I pass by this place every time I head to Houston from what is now often referred to as "The Woodlands West" (which is just a fancy name for the area around the FM1488/FM2878/Honea-Egypt intersection). It's no secret to anyone that knows me that I'm a huge fan of cupcakes, and when I saw the huge banner they had out exclaiming "CUPCAKES!" I couldn't resist and stopped in one day to give them a whirl.

All I can say is, their cupcakes leave much to be desired. :( I had a vanilla cupcake and my mom had a chocolate one, and while they appeared to be homemade the cake itself was very dry and the icing was WAAAY too rich. Even worse, they were $3.25 each, which is what one would expect to pay for gourmet cupcakes from a cupcake bakery like Crave or Sprinkles, though these places definitely warrant the price in my opinion.

However, I will give Dosey Doe credit where credit is due. The staff that assisted us was very pleasant and helpful, and the interior was very fun. The whole shop is decorated in a western theme, and each table/area is different. They do offer coffee and teas, although I cannot comment on them as I've yet to sample their beverage selection. I wouldn't be adverse to patronizing this location again, as it did seem to have a fun atmosphere.

...I just can't say that I'd order another cupcake from here. :)

I love coming to this place for coffee in the morning. I love their regular coffee, the dark "Roast Master's" is the best. They also make any special coffee you want; lattes, capp., mocha, etc.

Their breakfast is what helps set them apart. They have all the usual muffins, scones, etc. that you can get at other places, but they also do waffles, pancakes, eggs, bacon... you name it!! The taquitos are out of this world and they can make them any way you want.

The inside of the store is a slice of what the big store is like. Antiques cover the store and give it the cozy feel that makes you want to stick around!

They also have a drive thru if you are in a rush and they can get you what ever you want. They also serve shaved ice out there in the afternoons that a great on a hot day.

Don't miss this place on your way to work!!
