I stopped by for breakfast as I live behind this establishment. I figured for a little country style place it should have a decent breakfast. My first reaction when looking at the menu was that they were definitely proud of their food. This is not a cheap breakfast joint. At $7.25 for a "Quick two egg combo" this felt a bit expensive.
Regardless I order this meal with a Dr. Pepper.
I had ordered 2 eggs, bacon and wheat toast. The potatoes that are served with the breakfast seem more fitting next to steak than eggs. They are large chunks of potato and are normally served with bell peppers and onion.
The toast was 1 slice of bread, toasted and cut diagonally. I had to ask for butter and jelly. The bacon was anorexic and had too much fat for my liking. The eggs were ok but the rest of the meal being so lackluster for the price really had me just wanting to finish so I could leave.
My Dr Pepper came in a cup FULL of ice so I effectively had Dr Pepper flavor added to ice. I had it refilled and that was finished before I left.
I do not foresee myself ever venturing back into there for any reason in the future. I think I just expected much for value.
My previous review stands. Â I've just got one question for this update:
Why is this place not packed at lunch? Â They've got $4.99 lunch specials! Â M-F, there's a single lunch option for $4.99, and it's been good stuff with a wide appeal - meatloaf, pot roast, tilapia - usually served with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. Â OK, so the portions on the special are small (for a restaurant), but it's 5 dollars. Â And if a big guy like me can make it until dinner on the lunch plate, I'm sure you normal folks will do just fine, especially with an endless cup of coffee or iced tea thrown into the mix.
The other location does such a great job. Â However, my wife and I went to this location around 11:30 am for lunch. Â It took them at least 10 minutes to seat us and they were not busy. Â I thought that it must be the transition from breakfast to lunch. Â So when we were finally seated, we were given breakfast menus. Â We waited for about 10 additional minutes for the waitstaff to come by and no one showed up. Â Unfortunately, we left and have not been back since.
