Looking for a weekend brunch place in the Woodlands that doesn't have a 30 min wait is nearly impossible, so I was pleasantly surprised when I went here with no wait, good food, and live music on stage.  Although parking is limited, Dosey Doe is an actual barn with the  interior decorated with old 50s type signs and cute, mismatched chairs/tables.  Two of my favorite things to order are the huevos rancheros and waffles.  The coffee is pretty good too.  Doesy Doe is reasonably priced with a great ambiance for a weekend brunch.  This will continue to be my go-to place for brunch in the Woodlands.
Review Source:I'm a big Dosey Doe fan. Â There are few well-kept secrets in this world and I love the ones I've been lucky enough to stumble into. Â From the outside this place looks a bit kitschy (think flea market), but what's behind all the bad signage is a 160-year-old Kentucky tobacco barn that was painstakingly disassembled and brought to this spot. Â The venue is great, truly intimate and allows one to take in an act (I've seen George Jones, Kinky Friedman, Trace Atkins, et al.) in an up-close way not common in today's crowded world. Â The biggest surprise of all was that the food is fantastic. Â A perfect way to take in Dosey Doe is two couples on a four-top balcony table. Â You can grab a table downstairs, but upstairs is a great buy and after dinner you can stand at the rail, get your drink on and watch the show. Â For concerts there are four entree choices. Â Each person orders one and then you just play pass-the-plate. Â Due to the small venue size, the tix (which include the show and the meal) are a little pricey, but it's worth every penny to see an entertainer interact with the audience. Â Go here once and you will return again and again.
Review Source:One of my absolute favorite places in town. We come here about twice a month for breakfast/brunch. Â The coffee is amazing, atmosphere and food wonderful and added bonus is music on Sunday. Love love love the guitar guy. Â In past I've had slower service, however that's not an issue for me as long as they keep the coffee coming. I almost always have the huevos rancheros (both the green and red salsas are great) and the husband loves their chicken fried steak. We are addicts.
This place Rocks!!
Went Saturday for breakfast. Restaurant was not busy, but staff more focused on socializing with each other than serving customers. I had waffle, companion had biscuits/gravy with potatoes. Waiter who dropped off food did not bring or offer syrup, butter, or ketchup. We ended up having to go up to waiter station and get them ourselves. Food could have been good-but was served only warm at best-important to have a breakfast meal come out hot. Â This is at about 10am- the place had maybe 20 other customers at most, so no reason not to receive great service and well prepared food. Was checking the venue to consider coming back to see one of the evening shows-but now have checked off list.
Review Source:Tried Sunday morning breakfast with wife and adult daughter. Â First time to see inside. Â Entered from I45 side and realized that is not the "real" front door for breakfast - - though we were greeted warmly. Â Really like the atmosphere, and it was not crowded - - so the pushed-together tables was not an issue (though could be if more crowded). Â Casual live music was nice. Â Good waitress, though the staff is more "bar oriented", kind of loud and rough around the edges. Â Food served quickly and hot. Â I liked my Huevos Racherso (first time I have had). Â Wife liked traditional eggs and bacon, but skimpy portions. Â Daughter did not like biscuits, and her meal overall. Â As we left, they both said they would not go back... I was disappointed with their verdict, because I like unique places. Â As far as seeing a musical act, I'll bet a great venue.
Review Source:Stopped here Saturday, 3/10/2012 for some breakfast. There were maybe 10 tables, total and about 4 servers working, along with a hostess.
The hostess showed us to a table at the back of the restaurant and that was the last time ANYONE acknowledged our presence. She actually walked past our table TWICE carrying a single piece of silverware for a vacant table near ours. She never ONCE asked us if we'd been helped, offered coffee, etc. She did keep stuffing food in her mouth as she waiting (bored...) for people to enter.
The owner/manager was busy horsing around with some of the servers near the bar and not managing his restaurant.
We TIMED it and after 5 minutes of being ignored, left. We will NEVER return to this establishment and that is sad - it was a quirky, non-chain place to have breakfast on the weekends.
been there 2 or 3 times. Â food was okay. service slow but friendly. I don't drink coffee, so I can't review that. Â atmosphere is nice since it's an old barn that was relocated down here from somewhere up north. Â decent place, but not so good that I frequent their web site to see who's coming in concert or anything.
Review Source:Here us my beef with this place: it makes me confused.
The atmosphere is really cool and laid back, the concerts they put on are the same. The tables are all mismatched and quirkey and squeezed together for optimum viewing...but then the food menu comes out and it's pseudo-fine dining. This is when I have to stop and scratch my head...I am squeezed in here with my fellow patrons, my waiter is wearing a printed t-shirt like Chuy's and is a sloth, but they want me to eat a Fillet Mignon for $32 waaahhh? I guess in my mind this place is burgers, fries, pizza, wings...bar food, but they push fresh caught trout and gazpacho.
See a show...eat at Chuy's first.
Nice atmosphere.  Food is just 'ok'.  Server was attentive and knowledgeable - BUT - they tried to over charge me.  Had a gift certificate for the show and 2 dinners.  Reservation was made and they were expecting us and showed us immediately to our table.  The surprise came with the bill.  A $60 charge was added for 'Deluxe View Seating'.  This was not requested, not explained, and not right.  The owner at  first was not willing to correct the bill although is was an obvious attempt to 'rake us over the coals' for a few extra dollars.  She finally gave in and made the credit but it was too late.  The damage was done.  An otherwise enjoyable evening ended on an very unpleasant note.  The over charging and the lack of customer service is what we will remember, not the food or the service or the entertainer or the coffee or the cool setting.  You had us - but you lost us.  The Dosey Doe will be remembered as (and talked about) as the place to watch your credit card.
Check it and then check it again.
i'd kind of like to keep this a secret, but it's such a cool place they really deserve the attention!! Â
Surprised my husband with an evening out for his birthday. Â Easy parking behind the building, quick step inside a restored old barn, decorated with various old ads, photos of prev performers, etc. Â With prepaid tickets in hand, we were seated quickly. Â The table I chose online was a great seat, but they offered us a premium seat (small $ fee) and we gladly took it. Â Better view. Â Chris was our waiter and he was as nice as they come. Â Menu for the evening offered a varied range of their normal items. Â With the show tickets (~$80) dinner was included (salad, entree, dessert and drink). Â Hubby ordered the ginormous CFS (and it's big folks) and I noshed on the chicken. Â Spinach salad, choc cake pre and post entree. Â And yes, they have a full bar, but c'mon folks, this is TEXAS... enjoyed a few long necks while singing along to the music. Â Moe Bandy was the headliner, with Bill Rice as the opener. Â
Both entertainers had CD's for sale after their performance and a chance to meet/greet, take photos, get things signed etc. Â Small venue allows for up close, personal performances with simple touches as getting a pic. Â I almost wish they had a dance floor, but no one would fault you if you decided to cut a rug whereever you can find room. Â
We'll return.  Easy to maneuver website with performances posted many  months in advance.
I love finding cool venues and this place is no execption. It is an old barn, they roast their own coffee, have a couple sitting rooms in the back. All round, it is an experience. We came here for an acoustic Brandon Rhyder show and since he is one of my favorites - it was a grand ole time. We had great seats, didn't eat but the food looked delicious and quite pricey. They have a very extensive calendar, definitely worth checking out. I just with this place wasn't in the Woodlands. And like other reviewers have said, they do have great acoustics. I was also shocked by how reasonably priced the tickets are. all in all, i really like this place and am excited to go back. I want to try the breakfasts!
Review Source:There are two different Dosey Does. The one open for dinner and the one for weekend breakfast
I have been twice for music and loved it. The food is awesome and very high quality. You can tell that thier chefs know what they are doing. The place gets crowded and busy and they waitstaff have a hard time hearing
On weekends they serve a great breakfast. Service is much better and very personable. The food is country style and just like your grandmother used to make. The coffee is excellent
I have had their lattes, and while they were good, it's all about the regular coffee. Their roast masters best keeps me coming back for more. I've worked in a coffee shop, I have coffee every day and I don't like Starbucks. This is what coffee should be!
I've been to the Dosey Doe twice and I had a great time both times. Â However, I'll be the first to admit that I have trouble finding fault with it as I won tickets to two big name bands on the radio and that was the only reason I went. Â The first time was for Reckless Heart and we had a terrific time and the second was for Mark Chesnutt. Â The food was good, very southern style and the music was amazing. Â The venue is incredible for these big acts because you are right on top of the performers.
The only thing that didn't impress me was the wait staff. Â I actually have a good story to explain the disappointment too. Â I went to Mark Chesnutt with a good friend and halfway through his set her asthma started bothering her. Â She asked the waiter for a glass of warm water and he couldn't hear her. Â The next time he came, she wrote him a note. Â 10 minutes later, as we were watching Mark Chesnutt, someone passed him a request note and he read it out loud, "Warm water. Asthma". Â He was understandable confused but my friend and I went into gales of laughter. Â Our waiter had taken my friend's note and instead of bringing her water, he had given it to the band as a request! Â I had to get up and explain to our waiter what had happened and be very clear. Â "My friend has asthma. Â She wants WARM WATER." Â This was one of several mostly funny but also sad interactions we had with our waiter that night. Â
I can't complain too much as the tickets were free, but does Warm Water, asthma sound like any country song you've ever heard?
"Texas Music with a Caffeine Buzz" is the motto for this relatively new establishment to The Woodlands. Â My husband and I were there early on a Sunday evening. Â There was a live band setting up. Â (It got a bit loud when they were testing their equipment; it was hard to converse.) Â
It wasn't busy yet, so we were seated right away and given plenty of time to check out the menu, after we received our drinks, since we were newbies. Â The server answered our questions about the place and was very friendly.
She recommended the Ginormous Chicken Fried Steak that was smothered in country gravy, and that we might want to share. They weren't kidding about it being ginormous! Â I could only finish one fourth of it. Â It was tender and quite flavorful. Â The sour cream & onion mashed potatoes were good but not my favorite. Â My husband, however, loved them. Â My favorite side was the sauteed green beans. Â
I finished up my meal with an Irish Cream coffee. Â Perfect! Â I used to get Irish Cream lattes at Starbucks, but that was years ago. Â The coffee had a wonderful flavor and didn't taste burnt like Starbucks can sometimes.
The food, service and atmosphere were great. Â We vowed to return and did a week later for breakfast.
The Huevos Rancheros was great! Â It was an interesting, yet mouth-watering combination of salsa, two jumbo over-easy eggs, refried beans and tostadas. Â It was another gigantic portion I could have shared with my hubby. Â I loved the home-style cooked potatoes (I'm a potato head) with the skins, but a few needed to be cleaned better; I got a bit of grit in a few bites. Â The More Please roast coffee was too light for me, so they brought me the Roast Master's. Â It was perfect with just a bit of half & half. Â
Thanks again Dosey Doe! Â You're 2 for 2!!
This place is really cool in terms of atmosphere. An old barn converted into a restaurant - definitely worth a visit. We had breakfast here - don't do it - the breakfast was not good at all. Service was excellent (great with our kids) and I will be back for one of their concerts (great bar downstairs) and maybe try dinner. Their coffee isn't that great either (unless you're the Folgers type).
