The Fry has become my go-to bar for the most part. I prefer it on the weekdays because it gets extremely packed on the weekends so you have to get there early to get a table. The bartenders are all great and very attentive, if you can make your way there when it's a big crowd. Like I said, on weeknights it's not an issue at all. Yes, it's smoky, so if you aren't cool with that, this is not the place for you. Their fries are to die for though! Check out the different sauces and you won't be disappointed.

Some of the best fries I've ever had. Very salty! The place was packed though! There was only one bartend-ress working when we got there, so it was a mad dash to get a drink. If you like small dark and loud places packed full of interesting people, then definitely the place to go!

I was surprised on my visit back home to see one of my old hangouts the Sidecar changed into The Drunken Fry. The fries were pretty good! The bar is totally remodeled but it's still basically the same bar with better beers and stronger drinks!

First visit: My band played in OKC a while back and we were told to check out "The Fry". It was a weekend night and someone was having a birthday... Needless to say, there was hardly standing room. Some drunk girl was actually rubbing an inflatable penis on people (I was not spared). We went next door to the HiLo instead.

Second Visit: One other band mate and I came by the Fry on a Saturday afternoon after checking into our hotel just down the street. We were pleased to see that it was mostly empty save for the couple of tables of locals and (yet another!) drunk b-dayer. The bartender was nice and attentive, greeting us as we first sat down to the left of Drunky McSpill. I noticed someone else chowing down on some of the Drunken Fry's namesakes and we ordered the same size. It was huge. The large came with two sauces and we got two more. The breakdown:

-Fries: Crispy, thin, not too greasy. These are actually really good fries! They're not shoestring, but they are thin and have that fulfilling 'crunch' (They are fried twice). Plus, they're served in a giant paper cone like at the fair or something.

-Sauces: The Tailgate (cheeseburger) sauce is great. Simply put, it is cheese with onions and beef. Dip in a fry and it tastes like a freakin cheeseburger. Awesome. The Thunderclap (buttermilk parmesan) is like a mild and flavorful buttermilk ranch style sauce minus that ranch tang. It's tasty. Death Star (truffle mushroom mayo) was a little outputting for me... Maybe I just don't care for truffles, but the flavor was strong. And then the Bang-Kok (Thai peanut sauce). It's peanut-buttery with some chili heat, but that was about it. It seemed like it was a few flavor notes short of being a Thai peanut sauce. More like spicy peanut butter.

Drinks: I stuck with PBR while we were eating... It's on tap. I was then encouraged to try the local Coop DNR (also on tap). It's a 10% alcohol mean son of a bitch. Similar malt liquor flavor and tang like Steel Reserve. Unfortunately, it didn't taste much better.

Overall, my visit to the Fry was enjoyable. I got a stomach full of awesome fries (I could drink that cheeseburger sauce), a good buzz, and the drunk birthday boy only bumped into me a couple times while smearing sauce on his face. This place has an undeniable charm. The 80's tunes and punk rock give it a cool vibe as well, not to mention the decor (largely custom art) which really solidifies the Drunken Fry's personality. Next time I'm in town I'll be sure to stop by for a bite and a brew!

Could there BE a better bar concept? All anyone wants at the end of the night are fries, and these people do fries RIGHT. We had the cheeseburger sauce, sundried tomato basil sauce, and blue cheese sauce. All amazing. The sundried tomato basil was my favorite.

A big downside is that the bar is smoking (something I'm not used to coming from Dallas) and thus you reek when you leave and you have to eat while inhaling cigarette smoke. I can deal with smoke in a normal bar, but why allow it in one premised on eating? Also, the service was nothing to write home about. Next time I might consider taking the fries to go.

Not your typical crowd. Its a dark, smokey, loud bar. I say go, if for anything a drink and the fries. Good stuff. This is a bar I'd start at for the night, then move on within an hour or two.

Haven't been here often, but when I do go I love it.  The fries and sauces, as have been hinted at profusely, are awesome.  I don't think I've ever made it through an entire order, but it's because they're HUGE.  I would like MORE sauce with fries, but I can live without it I guess.  Great punk-rock music playing pretty much always, which is a nice change from the gross "Top-40" (though I believe it's only 5 songs on any given day, regardless of that title) which I am forced to endure in other places.

Went last night to see the OH NO! Variety Show, and was not disappointed.  Got to staple money to both Joey Danger and the Amazing Boobzilla. Seriously, check out a show here sometime, but come EARLY because it fills up fast.  The show was great, the crowd (and there was a huge one) was respectful and friendly, which is also a nice change from some bars I've been in.

Service was a little slow, what with only three people manning the very long bar and lines all the way around, but the price was right and the show was amazing.  I hear through the grapevine that "Punk Rock Tuesdays" are a thing now. With live dj's who have real turntables. I will definitely be coming back here.

The only reason we ever go here is because they have FREE TABLE GALAGA. My girlfriend is undefeated and we usually get free drinks because of this. It is far too smokey and douchey in my opinion but if you go early you can escape the meat market, play Galaga and feel like a pirate. The bartenders are great. I was over the fries a long time ago but they have a great selection of beers and if you take advantage of the PBR and Shot specials you will eventually need to order some fries. When you do, get the Wasabi sauce and the Truffle sauce. Ignore the guy curled up in a ball in the corner, he just had one too many Yeager Bombs.

The fries and the enormous list of tasty homemade sauces make for a great mid-bar crawl snack. Beer and shot special is a good deal.

If you don't mind eating fries dipped in mayonaise while someone smokes right next to you (and I don't), then it's a good spot. The service has never been a problem, but I will say the several times I've been it's been with one of the 'regulars' so maybe that's why. Late night weekends this crowd is a little rowdy and some brawls have been known to break out, but earlier in the evening, it's a good spot to get a decent beer and at least get feeling good enough that you can go across to Ednas and wade through the pool of DBs long enough to get a lunchbox and leave. During the week it's calm, and you can get on the free Galaga table with ease. Btw, the seat with the back facing the door has buttons that work better...

Good atmosphere sometimes... Trendy and overcrowded and not fun at all if you catch it on a bad night. Really hit and miss. The bartenders might suggest a beverage you've not had before and if they do you should trust them.

I'll never turn down an invitation to the Fry, but I don't suggest it to other people. The drinks are good and reasonably priced (the beer & shot combo seems to be everybody's favorite) and the fries are DELICIOUS in all sorts of ways. The upsides: the bartenders and door guy are fantastic, always personable and always making sure everybody is happy. They have a very wide selection of interesting beers. There's actually pretty good seating for a dive bar. The music is generally great. Very diverse crowd. BOOBZILLA ON SUNDAYS! The downsides: smoking is allowed inside and boy, do they smoke. Ladies, your hair will reek of smoke for the rest of the night and if you have allergies/asthma, this place can border on dangerous. This place gets crazy crowded on the weekends (which is fun for some people). Though the bartenders are awesome, the service isn't very fast.

Basically, the Fry is enjoyable if you're already wasted.

I suppose they have a decent beer selection but this place is tiny and SMOKY and horribly packed on the weekends. I haven't figured out why people like the place so much.  The girls that work behind the bar usually pick and choose who they want to pay attention to so if you aren't a regular or one of their friends it could take a cool minute to get a drink. I personally do not like to leave an establishment and feel like I must immediately go shower. Only good thing is they sometimes play good music.

I'm not a fan of heavy crowds.  I am, however, a fan of fries and beer, which happen to be Drunken Fry's specialty.  The Fry is popular, and subsequently, busy later in the night.  Early in the evening it's GREAT.  The staff is attentive and the fries are great.  Beer is beer, and the selection is worthwhile.

Nom nom nom. I liked it so much I went twice in two days. I love condiments as well. I also love truffles and mayo. Combine the two? Sweet baby jesus. No Bud light? Is this Heaven?

It gives me some sweet satisfaction when a bar refuses to serve shitty beer and people get all indignant about it. Philistines.

Love this place. Service was good and they didn't look at me weird when I licked the Death Star cup.

Make it non smoking and I'll drive up all the time.

Enjoyed my visit to the Drunken Fry.

The biggest thing people complain about is the lack of domestic beers here which I find odd as the beer selection they do have trumps any domestic any day of the week.  If you want your Bud Light there are plenty of crappy bars in town you can get your fix at.  This bar serves Belgians, ale, lagers, stouts, and weisses.

Of course the big thing here is the option to buy french fries with dipping sauce to go with your drink.  The dipping sauce selections are yummy and I encourage you to take advantage of this (my choice:  #5 The Death Starr which is truffled mushroom mayo).

The bar is smaller so be aware with it still being legal to smoke in bars in OKC (what the 'H' people?) you will probably walk out smelling like a chimney.

It is in the Classen Circle so there are other options such as Edna's and the Hi Lo near-by if you like to bar-hop.

    Cheers!

Staff is very knowledgable on beer which is good when you want to try something different. The service can be slow but who cares, the beer is good.  Very friendly "staff," great to talk to.

This was one of the better parts of my brief stay in OKC. I like fries and good beer. I also like seeing douche bags get pissed when they cant order a crappy domestic.

This is a common stop for my crew, it's smoky, it's packed and you'll wait at the bar for a LONG time before you'll get served. Good thing the fries are good, the sauces are great and the $5.00 PBR and a shot is a fantastic deal.

Yeah, this place sucks. No domestic beer? Cool guys, might as well have called your place Nova II. No domestic beer in Oklahoma?

I have been there three times.  My first experience was okay.  They were slammed, but we managed to wheedle some seats at the bar.  We also were able to acquire some of the namesake fries and sauces.  I need you to understand how much I love condiments.  It is an obsession.  My beautiful new stainless steel fridge is filled halfway by condiments.  I tell you this so you will understand how excited I was to be able to choose from circa 18 different dipping sauces.  The fries were shoestring.  I'm not a fan.  You can't get a decent fry to sauce ratio with shoestrings, that said i realize that is personal preference and does, in no way, affect my review.  The sauces were super yum.  After several mixed drinks and fries we tabbed-$10!  This was our second example of the bartenders' ineptitude.  The first being their inability to serve drinks in a timely manner.
Trip two to the Fry at 11pm found the kitchen closed.  Really.  You name your bar the Drunken Fry and yet you don't actually serve fries? I don't get it.
Third and, Lord willing, last time was New Year's Eve.  I know it is busy, but you (owner/manager) probably could have predicted that too.  We were there for 2 hours.  I had 2 drinks.  That's not okay.  To be clear, it was not for lack of trying that I only had two drinks.  The bartenders (all 3 of them) were hopelessly incapable.  It was not fun. At all.
If you want a fun dive bar go across the street to Edna's for a lunchbox, around the corner to the HiLo for the drag show, a few blocks south to the Sip for the best people watching around or a mile away to Nancy's for a kitchen that stays open and karaoke.

oh, and they don't have domestic beer.  ridiculous.

I haven't been here many times but I have to say I love the fries, love the dips, love the drinks.  The best part was the company however, the bartenders are amazing. They were superfriendly and I have a story to prove it:

While ordering a drink I complimented a bartender's Wilco concert tee. When the bar was closing, I was finishing up my drink with friends and I notice the bartender walking up-- he had changed into another shirt and had folded up the Wilco tee. He very sweetly gave it to me and explained that it was a gift from a friend who went to their concert but it didn't fit and that now he was just passing it along to someone who would love it even more than he did. Needless to say I was shocked and will definitely be wearing it next time I go!

Great atmosphere, great food, great people.

Nice space, much larger and better looking than The locations previous business. Good beer selection along with almost every Coop beer (made in OK), 21+, no cover and smoking allowed. Beers are pricey, mixed drinks are fair. All in all a decent new spot.
Bar staff is very nice and will assist you if the beer menu becomes overwhelming. There is also a beer "tour" if you will, if you drink all the beers on their list you get your picture on the wall, a t-shirt and a private keg party on the bar.

WOW, they have done a great job converting the side car lounge into one of OKC's best new bars. The theme is great beer and great fry sauces. The bar is small and was fairly smoky for the 15 people in it last night. I was sitting across from two chimneys though. The beer selection is top shelf and the bartended suggested my favorite beer when I asked for a suggestion. He has good taste. The frys were great, but the size was small for the price I thought. Our favorite was the DEATH STAR. It is a mushroom and truffle aoli. The other three we had were all good, sun-dried tomatoe, peppercorn, and bacon ranch. I suggest you give this place a try, but it will probably get too crowded and I'll stop going then.
