I can't really imagine why you would come here unless it was before, during, or after a Yankees game, but if that's the reason for you coming, you won't be let down! I think it's a great space to go before the game, especially if you're from out of town. Â Yes it is extremely close to the stadium, but it is literally HUGE. Â I felt like I was in a fun house. Â You just keep going, and going, and going and there is tons of room to sit and stand and do whatever you please. Â It's a great meeting spot if you are meeting a large group. Â I thought it was a great atmosphere, especially before the game. Â It was fun to be amongst all the fans. Â Most of the beers were typical nyc overprice (although not as overpriced as inside the stadium), but they did have a few specials, specifically cheap PBR pint cans. Â Can't exactly remember how much they were, but if I recall correctly it was only a few dollars. Â The bar tenders were friendly, and there are so many rooms and bars that I really didn't have to wait a single second to get a beer. Â Will definitely be coming back here next time I'm at Yankee Stadium!
Review Source:Great spot for a few beers before going into Yankee Stadium and forking over a bundle for a $9 bud or $12 Stella. Â If you're a fan of PBR this is the place to go. Â $3 for a pint can. Â Can't go wrong.
The inside is huge but not many seats. Â Not a big deal. Â Most folks are only staying a little while anyway. Â The "food" is nothing to speak of, basic franks, burgers and pretzels mostly. Â
The place caters to real baseball fans who want a quick brew or 2. Â Although they allow kids I wouldn't suggest bringing them. Â It can get loud and a bar full of drinking baseball fans is not a place for kids anyway. Â I like the place and would definitely recommend it over other bars in the area.
I sit in the bleachers, so this is the perfect location for me before a game. Â Beers are cheap, service is fast, and the waitresses/bartenders are nice. Â Lots of TVs and a few places to sit. Â When you walk in, it looks ridiculous packed, but just keep walking to the back...plenty of room.
The bathrooms are lame, and the food doesn't look so hot, but I'd never think to eat here. Â Like another reviewer said, I do not love that they allow kids in here with parents. Â But those are my only gripes...this is my home all season before claiming my spot in the bleachers :)
This Yanks bar is much larger than it seems, has huge area and bar in the back . Â Only real business here is before and after Yankee games i think.
Bar prob has best prices for the area with PBR and Coors light specials.  nothin really fancy here.  This place is ur avg  grab a 4 dollar beer then run over to the stadium.
Pretty much standing room w/ few seats and booths. Â Got some high tables scattered around, but does the job. Â Good spot to meet up with friends b4 the game.
Def my go to spot  before the game and get couple brewskis before you go in and pay 10 each.  This place can def get packed b4 weekend games.
The Snappy Nappy LOL well you know the rest.  If you're going to a Yankees game this is a great meeting spot to pre-game.  The Dugout is located from the stadium or in this case across from the new Hard Rock Café.  What you will find loud obnoxious Yankees fans (yah), deals on PBR Tall Boys, plenty of TV's for viewing the game and decent bartenders who are fairly attentive.  The place doesn't look like much from the outside (who cares), however it's much larger than it seems and the prices are right.  I think it's ideal for pre-gaming or maybe post -gaming it's all up to you.
Review Source:The only reason this bar is getting 3 stars is because the beer is cheaper than most of the other joints around the stadium. Â $5 for a Bud Light (versus $9 most other places). Â There are no chairs at the front bar. Â There are some seat in the back space, but it is pretty much a standing room only joint. Â
Other than that, I hated it. Â I hated the scantily clad waitresses. Â
Kids with parents are allowed in here. Â
The bathroom was clean-ish.
Cheap beers (compared to what you'll get in the stadium). HUGE space. Soft pretzels and hot dogs. I felt right at home.
Side note: My boyfriend, who is a White Sox fan (I guess he could have been a Red Sox fan; then we'd really have problems) declared the ambiance "mediocre." Then the Yankees beat the White Sox, so guess who's feeling mediocre now...
This place was a'ight. Â I'm no Yankee fan, but I was invited to a game by a Yankee fan. Â She said - let's meet at the Dugout. Â One thing I will say that Yankee Stadium has over CitiField is that the bars and meet up places are better there - more of a community for sure. Â CitiField really lacks that.
nondescript hangout for baseball folks pregame. Â Nothing fancy. Â Some pregame/happy hour specials. Â $4 for a bullet of Coors Light I think? Â Better than spending $10 in the stadium for half the size. Â Just sayin.
This place is HUGE. Â I don't see much of a difference between any of the places on River, but I guess the only factor that differentiates them from the rest is their cheap beer prices - $3 Bud Lights, Coors Light and I think Miller Lights. Â I was drinking Sam Summer Ale because I am a snot face that doesn't like to tap the Rockies. Â They even sell hot dogs and pretzels so you can grab a quick snack before being financially sodomized inside the stadium. Â Solid place to come before the game.
Review Source:Cool little hangout right near Yankee Stadium. Great to catch the game if you don't have tickets, or nice place to chill before the game. Beers are $3-$6 and shots are $10--a bit pricey for the BX (but obviously still a TON cheaper than inside the stadium) Good music and plenty of TVs!
Review Source:I'm Daisy from the block! The Dugout in the Bronx is a taste of old school Bronx. Girls, if you miss or yearn to crack gum out loud, professionally, this is a must go and do! So much fun! It's the Bronx, so I heard a host of pick up lines one can only hear in the Bronx, with that sexy accent. Go Yankees, Yankee Stadium and The Dugout. A 'to die for' favorite as we say...
Review Source:You really can't beat $3 miller lights and $4 PRB tall boys in nyc. Â Even the other beers were only like $5. Â The place is huge. Â Once you pass the first bar and walk around to the back its a huge open space with another bar in the back. Â I was here for a Friday night game that was rain delayed for 2 hours, and the entire time it was extremely easy to get to the bar and never got too crowded. Â This is probably my new go to bar before games.
Review Source:Wow... is it even possible that there's a bar that sells $3 beers? If you're in the Bronx before a Yankee game there is! I don't know if its until they run out, or until the 1st pitch, but before a Yankee game, stumble 1/2 block away from the metro station, and you've got yourself a spot to enjoy cheap beer w/ your fellow pinstripe fans. Â
They technically have a food menu but it consists of $5 microwaved cheeseburgers from Costco. Â Why put yourself thru that, when you can get quality food inside the stadium? Stick w/ the cheap beer and good crowd. Â I don't think everyone has found out about this place yet. Â It used to be out of the way, if you were going from the metro to the old Yankee Stadium, but because of the new location, its right across the street!!
When Yankee Stadium was torn down, and a new, pre-Christened Cathedral erected in its place (or more literally, across the street), it was a tough pill to swallow. It sent mixed signals for sure to a lot of fans - one part: out with the old, in with the new; and another part: preserve the storied history and time-tested tradition of the most winningest franchise in sports history.
So, what does this specifically have to do with The Dugout? Well, all of those long-standing watering holes along River Ave. were no longer directly across the street from Yankee Stadium. Now, The Dugout was instead. Suddenly, it became the de facto sports bar in the area for the New Pinstripe Era. And beginning that first Opening Day on April 16th, 2009, well, I've been going here both pre- and post-game exclusively ever since.
With a packed house of Yankee fans (and it can get packed), and a seemingly endless amount of TVs whichever way you turn, The Dugout's three bars sure do come in handy. The front of the establishment is your standard, narrow counter with a nook of tables for good measure. The second bar is tucked away at the end of the initial pathway. And lastly, perhaps The Dugout's greatest strength, the establishment completely opens up to a huge nightclub-style back room. No other spot circling the stadium can boast this square footage, or this type of atmosphere. That is, The Dugout happens to attract a much younger crowd than its other brethren in the area. While these older, more well-established joints will typically play some sort of rock music, The Dugout's most definitely blastin' hip-hop. After all, this is The Boogie Down Bronx we're talkin' about. Oh, and cute bartenders in pinstripes don't hurt either.
As impressive as the current Yankee Stadium may be, it's taken me some time to accept it (and I still haven't entirely), as nostalgia for the old ballpark is still known to creep around now and again. On the other hand, welcoming The Dugout as not only the relative New Kid on the Block, but as my go-to bar in this neck of the woods, well, let's just say that was a much easier change to embrace.
Best bar around Yankee Stadium, it's my regular spot for every game. Â The bartenders are friendly, the drinks are cheap ($3 PBRs) and there's plenty of space for everyone to hang out. Â The music is at a comfortable volume (unlike Billy's) and you don't feel like a fight is about to break out (like at Stan's).
Review Source:Definitely my regular stop before my Friday night games. They have renovated the back bar moving it to the far side of the room which is perfect to get the crowds into the room. Rarely packed unlike the front of the bar. i think most people don't realize there is a whole bar in the back with a full screen projection TV. The female bartenders in back are in cute little ref outfits that even I, as a female, can appreciate how good they look. Very friendly service every time I've gone. The only thing I would have to say that's not great is the volume of the music.. sometimes a bit too loud. Music selection from week to week can be off, but not a huge concern since I'm only there for about an hour before the game anyhow.
