This place rocks. Pool tables, wide selection of beer and wine and other drinks.  Great for locals. Outdoor patio. Huge English style bar. Friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommended.

Reading some other reviews I feel the need to point out that it is NON smoking now!  Has been for a while and its a huge plus!  New makeover is really nice too!  Gone is the copper bar top so was so lopsided you could lose a beer if placed in the wrong spot!  I've been going here for a while so I'm a little biased, but the prices have seemed to be getting a little more painful as of late...  Still a great, fun place to stop in and have a few or grab a bite!  The live music used to be nice, but now it seems its there like 4 times a week and you have to scream to talk to someone standing a few feet away from you!  1 night a week might be a little better...  Again, very trivial "complaints" so go in and give it a shot (and have some shots!) if you haven't been, most likely you'll end up having a blast!

i've been here twice and both experiences i would categorize exactly as it's spelled out for two stars -- "meh. i've experienced better."

there's an array of food and drinks which look quite typical for a neighborhood bar. don't mistaken this place for a place like village tavern. very different.

It's a tavern. It's average. It's for the 45+ crew on a Saturday. The draft beer is overpriced. The place is super-crowded. The middle-aged drunks like to run into you and sling your drink everywhere. The parking is good. In short, I won't be back. Upwards and onwards.

My husband and I went to meet up with some friends for a birthday.  Figured hey, we're both off of work due to Christmas, etc, why not?

Overall, the place is not bad.  I had only been here once before back in 2007 or something, and the place has since gotten a significant upgrade.  The interior was nice with the main bar, a mixture of high tops and traditional dinner tables, and lounge-y type leather sofas, chairs, etc.  There were also a couple of pool tables near the back, but I digress.

The beer and wine selections are both mediocre.  They do have several seasonal/local/non-common beer selections, but I think my husband and I have been spoiled by other places that offer 100+ options of beer.  Wine selections were basic-I think Publix has a better selection than they did.  I get that it's a "tavern" and British in nature, but if you're going to offer wine, either do it all the way or none at all.  Don't half ass it.  But I digress.

Our server was nice enough, but (and this is why I'm  not calling her by name out here) was seriously high...slurring her words, pupils dilated, the whole nine yards.  Seriously?  Honey, get your act together.  And the "couples" in our group were checked on maybe once for every 5 times she checked in on the single guys.

On the plus side, the mozzarella sticks we ordered were pretty spiffy, and everyone else who ordered food said it was good.  Of course, it is bar fare, but it was good bar fare.

Long story short, I'm giving it only 2 stars due to the shoddy beer/wine lists and because our server was as high as a kite.  But I think I'd still go back...I'd just avoid this one particular person's section!

Well, it's a bar. In a shopping center. A bar and restaurant, I suppose. They've got separate entrances for each to prove it.

Honestly, I'm happy to see a non-national-chain spot in Dunwoody so I have to give it props for that. They've got a pool table and a dark, casual, prototypical pub atmosphere. If you're not in to basic domestic beers, you'll be better off ordering a cocktail. A non-fancy one. But it'll be cheap!

hum; food OK, even tasty  !
    prices fair

service mediocre ( would have been nice to know why it took 30 minutes for entrees in empty restaurant. )

Their focus seems the bar side ; the restaurant side was somewhat cold

This bar the the flagship or hub of the Dunwoody Restaurant Group. Others in this group have English Pub sounding names like "Bat & Ball", "Ship and Anchor" .etc / et al. I think the elongated name for this place is Ye Olde Dunwoody Tavern.

I am not a huge fan of this one (or any in the chain). I find them to be generally lacking in areas or see certain flaws that hold them back from being great bars / restaurants. Food is not that solid, atmosphere is somwhat dingy, and crowd is always sparse and insular.

I hear drink specials and food specials keep bringing regulars back but I did not see or hear of any in my visit. I ordered fish and chips and a couple of guinness. The pour on the guinness was damn bear perfect. The fish and chips was good but not outstanding. The fish was piping hot and fried perfectly.

The fries were not that hot and tasted fair to middling. The tarter sauce served with the fish was good but sparsely portioned. I could say the same for the Fish and Chips entree in general. My tab for the entree plus two guinness was about 25 bucks (inc. tax & tip).

The bartenders were friendly and attentive. The evening I went after work on a Thursday. There was a girl there off in the corner giving massages to businessmen for a fee. Might be worth a try if getting massages in public is your cup of tea.

I was across the street getting some work done on my car and needed some lunch and to get soem work done. I dont know why I cant learn my lesson but I have some kind of issue every time I come here. I know this place well, cause it used to be one of my liquor accounts 12 years ago and the owner is a challenge to deal with, but i regress. I will say it was nice of the bartender to let me come in 30 min before they opened, Yelp says 11 but they dont open till 11:30 but that was as far as it went.  I sat at the bar so I could have power for the macbook pro and ordered a diet coke. WHOWWWWWW.  So bad was my beverage that I could not drink it. It tasted like I had left it open in my car for a week in July then microwaved it, god just awful. Clean your soda lines or something. I ordered the a salad and french onion soup, I am a sucker for french onion soup and I was a sucker for ordering this version, it was grainy, bland and tasted like some brown onion water that Charlie from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory or Oliver Twist would be forced to eat. The Caesar salad was OK, really if you mess that up you should close. The serve mostly inattentive and the Bartender was a bit snarly and was the only one on the floor. I should have gone to COM, what was I thinking, Wont make that mistake again.

I visted Dunwoody Tavern I want to say 3 weeks ago to meet a friend for dinner. The food is pretty solid we all enjoyed our dishes. Started off with the Spinach Artichoke Dip (really good), and had a Cuban for my entree. The staff was really nice and girl who waited on us really nice and attentive. We'll definitely be coming back soon. Simple good Pub food what more could you ask for ?

I went back for a return food-only-trip as promised from my previous review.  I went for the ---- Prime Rib.  Prime Rib, if done right, is spectacular.  If prime rib is not done right, it can be a complete disaster.

I'm pleased to report the Prime Rib here is fantastic.   The meat came out perfectly done & cooked consistently from the edge through the center.  One easy screw-up with prime rib is to screw up the temperature & the roast "tunnels" & the roast ends up well done on the outer edge and raw in the middle.

I'm please to say the prime rib here was cooked perfectly.  The meat was tender & a generous portion.  By default it comes with a side of mashed potatoes.  For $12, the portion received was fine.  I also added an onion soup gratinee appetise & enjoyed my meal completely.

I'll be back again for the prime rib.  The prime rib is only serived on Fridays and Saturdays.

For my beverage I had unsweet tea w/ a splash of bitters.  It was great.

Now that they have gone smoke free I can return.  We were frequent visitors but the smoke became overwhelming.  We visited over the weekend and you would never know they ever allowed smoking (other than the cigarette machine).

The special football menu and NFL package will keep us coming back.

The Dunwoody Tavern is nice after-dinner bar or a cool low-key local hang-out spot.  I never thought much of the food, even though I had eaten here before.  But that changed this weekend.  I'm not sure if it was because I ordered something different or if it was because the smoke wasn't so overwhelming that I could taste my food for a change (the place can be VERY smokey), or maybe it was because I was actually sober enough to really enjoy the food this time, but whatever the reason, the food was really quite tasty on this visit.

We went to the bar around 9 or so on a Friday night to grab a bite and decided to do the "Pick 3" appetizer special in which we chose the Irish Spring Rolls, Grande Nachos with chicken and the Asian Steak tips.  The Irish Spring Rolls were just "meh" to me, but that may be due to the fact that I'm apparently not a big fan of corned beef (I love learning new things about myself!).  The chicken nachos were pretty fantastic but the Asian steak tips were definitely the bomb dot com.  Tender morsels of beef in a tangy sauce...mmm tasty!

The service was great, as usual, and I love anyplace where I can knock up judie (that's the juke box...pervs!).  Add plenty of TVs, pool tables, darts and video games and there's just no going wrong here.  The patio is also really nice on warmer evenings...if you're into that kind of thing.  And by the way, I totally am.

Lookin for a local hang-out? Good food - good friendly service - live entertainment on a Wed night - little smokey for non-smokers but has concealed non-smoking section - 3 pool tables - GREAT friendly atmosphere! Amy was a great server!!

it's refreshing to have a non-chain place to grab a pint in this neck of the woods.

but it's not refreshing to go here because you will definitely leave smelling like a 180lb ashtray.

and yet another place where the Guinness pour equals the Bud Lt pour - at least the headache it gives you is free.

I have come here several times after doing the Uncorked event at D'Vine two doors down. I like the layout a lot, several large televisions and a few pool tables.

Overall I would say it is just your normal tavern. Nothing too special. When you leave here you will smell terrible. I really need to find more smoke free places to hang out. Normal beer selection. I had a steak sandwich here once but no other food. It was decent. Just a good place to come after wine and drink more heh.

Stopped in here for a beer with some fellow Yelpers and loved the English pub decor.  I got the vibe this is a hangout for the locals and, of course, find that appealing.  Everyone was friendly and the service was good.  None of our group ordered food so can't comment on that.

Only thing I didn't care for was the smoking.  Yikes!   Definitely had to shower before going to bed.  But, in some places, that can be overlooked because of the people and atmosphere.  This is one of those places.

Great meet up spot if you're in that area!

Enjoyable atmosphere and very friendly wait staff. Don't pay too much attention to the specials outside... when I walked in and ordered one, I received a very funny look, guess they rarely update the board outside.

Nice selection of alcohol, can go alone or with a friend(s). The pretzels and cheese were a nice small snack.

Oh, if only I could be a sell-out!

This is the spot where I met the recent ex. I'd love to be able to hate on Dunwoody Tavern, just for that reason, but - alas - I can't!

Good spot! Great service and even better, it really is one of those "this-is-where-I go-to-have-a-beer-alone" or  "I'm-meeting-up-with-friends" kind of places! And . . . this is one of my personal and VERY biased preference points - they serve cider! My favorite, actually, Strongbow.

I'm not a big trivia girl, but from my experience, this is a great neighborhood spot to get your cocktail on . . . good luck with the trivia!

Fun atmosphere and good trivia.  I like the British Pub feel.

Ok what I don't like about this place is that I come out smelling like a complete and total ash tray.  I don't understand how there are a select few places like this in the area that still get away with allowing smoking but whatever.  Also, I can't write this review without mentioning the piece of hardware that I found in my salad once.  Yep, I was digging around in my salad when my metal fork "clanked" loudly against a piece of metal hardware (looked like some sort of wall mount for a shelf or something but what do I know?)  It was about an inch long.

I can forgive them for the unidentified object in my salad, it probably just got knocked off the shelf or something, I really don't care to know.  The reason I can forgive is because my waiter was totally apologetic and embarassed about this happening to me.  He refunded my salad, brought me a new one, and bought a round of drinks for my table of 6.

As for the rest of the menu, it's mostly standard, tasty bar food with a British/Irish twist.  I feel weird recommending the place after finding the metal thingy-majig in my salad but I'm a forgiving person.  Other dishes I've had are pretty decent.  My male friends always enjoy attempting to flirt with the cleavage-showing waitresses, too.

I am a sucker for English/Irish pubs.  The beer selection is great, the food is a step above normal bar food, sports is always on the screen, and the waitstaff is usually busty and nice.

Dunwoody Tavern is no exception.  They carry most of your solid European beers (plus Sweetwater) at a reasonable price.  I would avoid the cocktails - $6 seem a bit much for a Captain and Coke in the 'burbs on a weeknight.  The food is great too.  I've never had meatloaf with mozzarella, but DTavern does a great job with it and I can't wait to have it again.

The clientele are mostly folks living or working in the area and are very cool.  Plus the waitstaff is friendly and makes you feel completely relaxed, physically.

My only complaint is that given its location, Dunwoody Tavern is pretty much a destination, not the beginning of a weekend night of craziness.  But for hanging out during the week, or enjoying sports - you can't do much better in a pub environment.

Mostly locals. i LIKE THAT.  Too much smoke - they need better ventilation so I downgraded it to three stars from four. Good drinks, its about the ONLY place north of the permieter that isn't a chain restaurant type. I liked the paper thin crispy pizza and washed it down with a few redbulls with vodka and I was good to go!

I used to come here pretty often when I lived off of Ashford-Dunwoody Road.  It wasn't necessarily a destination for me, but my roommate liked to come here because of the single guys that seem to show up after work and later in the evening.  There was only one time that she met someone who really interested her, so I think it's safe to say that this isn't a "pick-up" bar.

The drinks were always pretty good and I absolutely love their chicken wings.  I never used the pool tables, but they can provide for pretty good people watching, especially when drunk guys are competing against each other.

Go and see Kacy, Phil and Dallas!  You won't be bummed with your choice if you do.  This is one of my most favorite places....my Cheers if you will.  Downside for me (a non-smoker) is the smoky environment, but that is the case in any place in Dunwoody.  Check em out for sure!

***Update: Ok, so I went to see Kacy for dinner and a few drinks the other night and she offered up the "before 9pm menu".  Who knew!?!  lol!  I had a filet and WOW!  Great cut of meat for a mere 12 bucks....good to know!  xoxo

More research needed for more stars.  So one thing i do when traveling is find a place that has the "locals" feel. It makes work travle seem like visitng friends.  We asked the people working at a hotel for just such a place and they point us here. One it is short hotel shuttle ride away and they picked us up. Walkable if an absolute must. It is also open late. Yeah!
The places has a British Pub feel. Similar to Kings Head Pub in Campbell for thise that are familiar. It is large and has just a few games to entertain besides the people. The staff was good and were quick. The selection was wide and prices were decent. It was late to try the food. The crowd diverse. It is said in a review a good place for post-graduate hanging out. Leanne, that we met, was a fun person to chat with despite her having to drunk babysit

Dunwoody Tavern is the ideal retirement home for college graduates.  Almost every time I go to this place I always bump into someone that I went to College with.  This would usually be something that I look forward to; however, most of the people that I know that hang out here are a little on the "I have rich parents, who spoiled me and made me into the  snob I am today" side.

Aside from the wealthier "snobby" crowds that typically hang out at this location on a regular basis, I must say that the bar itself is pretty nice.

The inside of the bar is always very clean, and the lighting is kept dim most of the night until last call.  The inside also has 5-6 pool tables and a juke- box that always seems to be playing a Bon Jovi song that I thought I would never have to hear again.

The patio section seems to have improved since the last time I was there.  They used to have picnic tables that wobbled and were quite uncomfortable.  Recently though, they have refurnished the patio and replaced the rotting picnic tables with more aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, and less wobbly black aluminum patio furniture.

The food is decent.  I usually eat the fish and chips, which is very good after a few beers and a hefty serving of oil and vinegar on the side.

Their alcohol selection is pretty typical of any pub in America.  Lots of domestic, 3 or 4 imports, and every liquor ever made on God's green earth.

Ye Olde Dunwoody lads like 'em beers at this Tavern!

Locals are attracted to the convenience and unique feel of this warm inviting tavern. The ambiance is obviously British, but it has some American traditions like Happy Hour and Team Trivia nights as well as hosting Texas Hold 'em tournaments and free pool night.

I've been here a couple of time with my older brother to share a pint or two and catch up whenever he's in town. I grew up just down the street and what's really weird is when I run into parents whose kids I used to baby-sit ordering pitchers of beers. I've also run into several high school friends here especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

It also attracts a large Georgia Perimeter crowd throughout the year.

Attached is the Duke of Wellington Restaurant where you can get some hearty grub before/during/after that pint of Newcastle.
